This restaurant is relatively new and I was craving kalguksu so I decided to give this place a try. When I entered, I was greeted by the owner. There is a kiosk to order and you also seat yourself. We came for brunch on a Sunday and it wasn't too packed. Their menu is pretty simple and straightforward. We tried the king ribs jjamppong with Kalbi and bulgogi. I ordered the noodle combo to share with my friend. If you check in at the restaurant, you also get an order of bulgogi. Overall, the food was delicious, I wish the jjamppong broth was a little stronger in flavor. I liked the noodles and the meats though. One last comment is, they do not need to have Mikey Chen's photos outside their restaurant. Apparently, he visited this restaurant and said it is a "must-try." read more

Initially we ordered online for delivery as we heard the spicy soup is good here and true enough, we enjoyed every sip we had. And because we enjoyed our UberEATS delivery, we decided to pay a visit and enjoy the king ribs jjamppong with seafood one fresh and spicy. We ordered the chicken noodle soup together with king ribs. They're cooked to perfection. The best I ever had. The ribs are so tender and falling off the bones. Seafood are yummy and the spicy soup is the best. We couldn't stop eating. My 1.5 year old toddler enjoyed the chicken noodle as well. It wasn't spicy so it was just perfect for him. You will need to try the kimchi together with it as it's freshly made there. My husband said, you can spot the difference from fresh and not in that kimchi. He mentioned, it was the best kimchi he ever had It's really worth our drive. I would highly recommend this place. Must try if you love noods, broth, and spicy! Perfect bite to noodles and broth was packed with flavor. The large was perfect to share between 2 people. I was pretty excited to try this place out based on the reviews and pics. But I was a little disappointed. The place was quite cozy and it's all self-service. I worried about being able to carry pretty heavy plates of hot stuff but I managed... the food was alright. It was way too sweet for me, the soup and the mixed noodle, way too much sugar. You order on the machine near the door and they'll call your number when your food is ready for pick up at the window. After you finish eating you put your bowls up. This seems pretty standard in most Korean noodle shops. read more

I'm pretty introverted, so the less human interaction I have, the better! You walk in, order from a screen and when you order is ready, your order number pops up on the little number counter by the kitchen. They have so many combos and the portions are huge. Everything was tasty and they had bowls, silverware and to go containers for people to grab on their own. It's pretty small, so I can't imagine how it would look packed! read more

One of my favorite Korean restaurant at the moment! Very concise menu with few noodle items and couple options for rice dish. I think I've tried most of them! Chicken noodle soup is good for everyone as it warms your body on a cold day. If you order it spicy, your soup will be red. King ribs jjamppong was delicious. The rib was fall-off-the-bone tender, and it worked really well with spicy jjamppong soup. Stir-fried beef with noodles is my top pick since I like stir fried stuff lol. We also usually order bulgogi dish for our kiddos. Writing this review makes me so hungry for some kooksoo! We will be there soon. read more

Very small and quaint place. Maybe 6-8 tables. Menu is small and not complex. We had the Beef Bulgogi and Beef Kooksoo Noodles. Both were very good and flavorful. You get a complimentary bowl of kimchi as well. We also had the Fried Dumplings which were super hot coming out, but good!! read more

Kooksoo II! We were so excited to try this second restaurant because we liked the original one in Plano so much. The quality was just as good as we remembered and the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. The bulgogi and dumplings were excellent add ons. The bulgogi was perfectly cooked and had its own unique taste with garlic, which we really enjoyed. Plenty of parking, great atmosphere, and generous portions. We'll definitely be back! read more

My husband and I ordered their beef kooksoo and the stir fry beef noodle. The noodle tastes handmade and had great texture for chewing and slurping. I liked his stir fry more than mine. The owner was very kind and gave me an apron to wear so I wouldn't stain my shirt. The restaurant doesn't have much seating and was busy when we went, but we were seated and got our food quickly. read more

Another restaurant that opened up in Carrollton from Plano and saves me 15 minutes of driving home! Hey, 15 minutes is a lot when you live damn near in Crowley. Kooksoo is hidden off of Hebron on the other side of the overpass passing Oh Mart. We've ate at the original once and always wanted to go again for awhile now. Then they open a location in Carrollton. YAY. Since I've had the bulgogi, the spicy chicken soup, and the king rib jjamppong at the other location, I wanted to try something different. I got stir fried beef noodles. I really liked it, but the Parmesan I can do without. I think the parm overpowered the rest of the dish. I am not a big fan of parm anyway. The dish was good, just will skip on the parm next time. Husband got the beef kooksoo and that was delicious as to be expected. I can't wait to eat here again. read more

I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this place! Restaurant is small and self-service style (you place your order on the kiosk, pick up your food, and return the tray. Same system as Paik's). I came by tonight and tried their king rib jjampong (signature dish). Honestly, I hadn't looked at too many pictures before coming here so I wasn't sure what to expect. I gotta say I've never seen better looking jjampong in my life. Presentation is a 10/10. Not too spicy (you can customize the spice level) and they're very generous with the seafood. The meat on the ribs fell right off the bone and it was super flavorful. Loved their side of kimchi too. I'm definitely coming back here within the next week to try out their other dishes! I'm so glad Kooksoo made it to Carrollton. The kimchi is so on point that I want to say that you come for the noodles, but you stay for the kimchi. The pepper powder melds just so finely with the fish sauce and sweetness of the napa cabbage. Peppery then salty the sweet, then peppery at the end. I had the spicy chicken noodles and the anchovy broth was subtle but not weak. You know it's anchovy but it's not overpowering. And the noodles were bouncy and satisfying. If I had to dock a point, it's the onion by--I wondered if it had been sautéed a bit to soften up, it would have added a better texture, as otherwise I found it a bit chewy. A lot has changed over the last few years and many places have closed or changed hands. I don't know what applies to Kooksoo, but they are doing it right. Thanks guys! read more

This location is great! It's definitely on the smaller side inside but it's just as good as the Plano location. We went on a Tuesday during lunch and there were only a few other tables being served. Their service was amazing. They took and fulfilled our order very promptly. The combo with the beef kooksoo and kimbap was a good deal. Their kimbap is very authentic and delicious. One of my husband's and my favorite spots for noodles! We've been wanting to try their first location and were happy to see they opened a second location closer to us! Interior: We found the interior to be cute and clean. We also appreciated the soothing music and that we didn't have to try to talk over it. We've tried: -King ribs Jjampong with seafood. My husband isn't normally a soup person but he inhaled the spicy soup! The broth was harmonious and gentle in flavor while it had all the flavors it needed. The noodles were fresh and chewy. The seafood was also fresh! The giant rib was my husband's favorite part. The meat came right off the bone and was soft and delicious. -Sir Fried Beef over rice. The beef seemed a little bit of a fusion with the parmesan topping. We've never thought to top Korean beef with parmesan, but it was surprisingly delicious. -Bibim Koosoo. This spicy noodle dish is one I normally love and Kooksoo does it right. The noodles were fresh, soft, and chewy. The sauce was perfection. One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Love the self serve and the staff are friendly and nice. The restaurant is smaller than most places but it's a good amount of space. My family always to go from here when we're in the area. Must try! We ordered the combo: stir fried beef with noodles and galbi, fried dumplings, and spicy bibim noodles. The noodles taste fresh and they're bouncy. One of the best kimchi I've had and they also sell it 12 oz for $10. 10/10 read more

I'm from California, where we're not exactly lacking in amazing, authentic Korean food--especially in LA and the Bay Area (Santa Clara in particular). It was pork belly, so the fat made the meat even more tender and savory. Both dishes were delicious! But of the two, we still liked the beef option better. The ordering process was completely digital. We scanned the menu code with our phones and then selected our dishes ourselves. There was very little "human" touch. I still prefer having a server come take our order, which also makes the tipping decision easier. Anyway, we enjoyed the food and will probably come back again.

Later an employee came over to inform me they were sold out of something I ordered and let me choose something else. This is fine and not a part of my negative review - it happens - I chose the beef noodle soup, extra spicy, with marinated egg. The cucumber salad we ordered was lacking any and all seasoning. Sadly I make a version of this salad at home, Chinese style, and it is way more flavorful. They didn't let the cucumbers soak in salt beforehand, so they were completely flavorless. Even after adding soy sauce it still didn't save it. Normally the wife and I finish the cucumber salad at other places we order it from, but we didn't even finish this one. When our soup arrived it was extremely oily. Basically mostly oil it seemed, you can see it coating and clinging to the entire spoon. Complely unappealing. I'm not sure if this is something particular to this style/region of a Chinese food or what, but I couldn't eat it. Even worse than the oil issue however, was that the meat in the soup was completely inedible! Literally each piece was either 95% ligament or fat and was just chewy and wouldn't even break down. I kid you not there was maybe a nibble of tender edible meat in the entire bowl of soup. And I don't say this lightly, I'm not a picky eater and generally try to find the positive in food. To top it off, I didn't even get the right kind of egg I ordered in my soup. I wonder if they gave me someone else's order. Either way, it was terrible. Ended up leaving almost the entire soup, even though I was starving. As for positives, the egg noodles in the soup were okay. That's all I can give it. Also, the soup dumplings were delicious. However, given the disappointment in the rest of the food here, we will not be coming back just for soup dumplings. Sadly, this was a huge let down. No wonder it was so empty.

Long story short, I asked my son to get a couple more extra Togo utensils as we did not finish our meal to take home, my son accidentally over grabbed therefore I let him know since he touched the items to just bring them to the table and we will take what we need an toss away what we don't need. Employees saw and manager came to our table asked us if we needed all those and we said no and proceeded to grabbed the spoons sitting in our bag and tossed them away. The disrespect in front of our face. I did not case a scene because my son was there but I was furious at the way that was handled!!! Shame on you!!!
