I took my wife to the Kooper Kettke over the holidays. She really enjoyed the experience. It was something special with all the holiday decorations. The sides are served family style at the table with unlimited refills. We enjoyed the mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. A restaurant favorite is the fried chicken. We loved it. We both ordered the chicken and had more than enough for left overs the next day. The breading was good and the chicken moist. Service was very attentive, particularly given that they were crowded for the holidays. Our bill was accurate. We recommend this place. Seems to have gone downhill on the food quality! Soupy instant mashed potatoes do not cut it. The salad was like a basic bagged iceberg salad you would buy at the grocery store. The chicken was rather dry and not very hot when served. The green beans had a very strange flavor. The rolls were served room temperature and nothing special. The highlight of the meal was a peppermint ice cream with chocolate sauce on it. The server was also very nice. I love the old house, and the old furniture, but come on get your act together on the food. We were there 7/26/25 with 6 people. Our server was fabulous, the food, not so much. The mains were good. The sides were horrible. Canned green beans with no seasoning and lukewarm. The corn was not seasoned and I'm sure it was canned too. I'm most disappointed by the mashed potatoes, they're instant!!! They were not seasoned either. I'm not going to lie. This place is weird. We couldn't decide where to eat, so we put a handful of restaurants into a bowl and picked one. Kopper Kettle was the winner. We arrived and entered the restaurant to find someone seated at a desk. I thought we went in the wrong door. I asked if we were in a restaurant and she confirmed that we were and I said we'd like a table. She asked if we had a reservation and we did not. She expressed that reservations were recommended, but she'd see if she could find room for us. Her overall attitude was a bit offensive. She came back and said that she did find a table. We entered the restaurant. The mostly empty restaurant. My friend and I looked at each other like, "What are we missing?" The restaurant remained more than half empty for the night. The servers wear weird mini dresses and bloomers. Think good-ship-lollipop type stuff. It didn't really make sense and most of them were not flattered by the outfits - as most people would not be. We got the fried chicken and it was okay. My mom makes pretty amazing fried chicken and this wasn't better. The mashed potatoes are instant and taste like wallpaper paste. The consistency is the same. The veggies are canned. The restaurant was decorated exquisitely for Valentine's Day and our service was impeccable. No complaints about that whatsoever. It's just that that hostess/reservations conversation was beyond weird and it made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. When we left, we were practically shoved out the door. They were giving complimentary bags of kettle corn and they couldn't shove them in our hands and get us out quickly enough. Then there was the "okay" fried chicken and the pedestrian sides. Has you country grandma ever moved to Italy's countryside? That's what it feels like eating at the Kopper Kettle. The atmosphere is everything. It's giving- maw maw moved to Tuscany and she was obsessed with gardens and statues. The grounds are gorgeous! Everything from the patio, to the garden, the fountain, the kitschy weird gnome habitat in the back area. I freakin loved it! Inside is the same! Statues and mirrors EVERYWHERE. It's a visual spectacle! Cherubs, crystals, grandfather clocks, murals, marble statues, I could go on and on! Many of the pieces in the house (that started as a grain elevator) Caine from different countries. The customer service is great. Our waitress was so nice and she even brought out a history pamphlet for me. The only thing that would make this place perfect is if the food had just a little seasoning on it. Everything was bland that we had. Hubby's steak was cooked really well but o had hoped for piping hot crispy chicken. What I got tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit. When we left we got free popcorn cooked in a copper kettle. It was really good. I would recommend coming here just to look at everything. We wanted to try somewhere different for lunch. We had heard from friends that this was a nice and yummy place to go. We were not disappointed! We were greeted at the door by a very nice young lady. We were taken to our table in this old home turned restaurant. The place has mirrors that make you feel like it's much bigger than it is. The tables are set farm house style. And lots of windows overlook the pretty garden. There are tables outside too. Hubby had the daily special of Swiss steak and I had an Asian chicken salad. Both were tasty. The waitress brought us our dessert which was included with our meals. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting! Doesn't get any better! As we were leaving the girl at the front desk gave us each a bag of fresh home made kettle corn. So great service, great food , chocolate cake and kettle corn! Couldn't ask for more!!! read more

A short pleasant country drive away to the legendary Kopper Kettle in Morristown, IN A group of us had a lovely ladies luncheon in a special setting in the wonderful back terrace, on a beautiful September afternoon. The room is glassed in and features stone walls and fireplace. The table was perfect for ten of us. Inside, the decor is regal looking and is always beautifully decorated during Christmas holidays. Kopper Kettle is well known for delicious fried chicken, which I have enjoyed many times. This day most of us had a generously portioned salad and some had the fish special. We had attentive service. Due to the owner's comment, I am editing my post: I came to the restaurant a while ago to support a family member that was hired, while there I watched as the owner walked by and touch a waitress's ass in front of the table. It wasn't a huge show, it was more of an innuendo touch, but since the owner was making a deal of himself being present at the time, I was looking at him and witnessed it. I hope the customer still enjoy the food, it was warm and inviting when I did eat there. But I cannot excuse what I saw as well as the treatment that I get to have in the comments of a review about his own restaurant. Enjoy what you have created and established, sir. I was so pleasantly surprised with this gem hidden 45 minutes outside of the city! I was skeptical when my boyfriend and his parents were so adamant about going here but now I get the hype! This place is an experience! The grounds and estate are just perfectly quirky and designed in such a fun and unique way! I love a place that decorates for the holidays; particularly Halloween as it's my favorite, and they really do a great job! The food is so good. It tastes like a family thanksgiving! Probably because we have a different server each time! We have never had terrible service. We tend to be flexible and optimistic, so we may not notice we are getting bad service? Wanted to go some place different for my 70th birthday and had not been there for a number of years. It was a mistake. The salad and rolls and ice cream were good but everything else in between, not so much. The corn and green beans were not warm and the mashed potatoes were gluey. The gravy was thick and lumpy. Most of the table ordered the fried chicken and it definitely was not fresh...maybe cooked at the beginning of the day and we were there at 2pm. It was very dried out. Asked for drink refills and had to wait past the time that we had eaten to receive them after asking again. Never did receive the apple sauce for my granddaughter. The topper was when trying to pay the bill for 20 minutes, we were told the system was down and they had to write down our cc number and code and would run it later. Then charged a 20% tip for less than adequate service. No way to do business! read more

We would ask for refills and wouldn't receive them. She was always at the other tables and not ours when we would need something. It took our food about an hour and when it came out it was cold. (A much larger party came in and ordered and they got their food within 20 minutes) Our waitress would keep telling us how her life is terrible and she wants to quit ( we all felt like she wanted our pity) We waited on her a lot. Hoosier Hospitality in a Historical Nutshell, a must visit for any Hoosier and any visitor to our state My Uncle from San Diego sent me an article taken from the New York Times. The Indiana Fried Chicken Trail - this prompted an afternoon drive to Morristown and a one of a kind afternoon. Greeted by a courtyard adorned with a carp filled fountain, benches and shade trees....we were lead by the hostess through the courtyard...... Danyelle and Whitney greeted us at our table on the patio, a beautiful afternoon for lunch...lovely and personal they were.... helpful to a tee....dinner rolls started with homemade apple butter. Fried chicken for us! Comes with Green Beans and Mashed taters. Simple Salad was served family style with homemade Blue cheese dressing, very tasty. The chicken was perfectly fried, lightly breaded and flavorful, as were the sides. It came with dessert, I chose the homemade brownie with vanilla bean ice cream. Overall a wonderful experience and I must say the personal touch and caring attitude provided effortlessly by Danyelle and Whitney complimented the historical and quaint setting. Picturesque. Charming. Unparalleled for a perfect afternoon. We had a group of 14. Not everyone arrived at the same time. We were offered drinks. Salad and dressings were passed and hot rolls. Our orders were taken and came in a reasonable time. I had their fried chicken which was great. Real mashed potatoes and gravy. Green beans was the vegetable which were a little sweet, but I ate the all. To top it off a small dish of vanilla ice cream with our choice of toppings. The facility is almost 200 years old with many antiques and beautiful gardens. The entrance has several steps, but if you drive around back, there is a rustic wooden gate to enter through the gardens for those that have accessibility needs. Don't be overwhelmed by the decor, because the food will knock you out. The menu is very simple. The must haves are the fried chicken, sides are fresh and wonderful, and to finish the meal off there is the Indiana standard sugar cream pie. There is a wide variety of dining spaces from the outdoor garden to the individual rooms each decorated in unique styles, love the painted piano. Once you finish eating take a tour of the house. Interesting items upstairs including the 600-year old Chinese wedding bed. If you are not into a family style dinner there is also the daily lunch specials which are awesome. On your way out the door they will give you a small bag of Kettle Corn that is special in that it is not to sweet or heavy, but light a delightful. It is their way of saying thanks for stopping by and sharing some time and good food with us- gotta love that Hoosier Hospitality! It took a very long time to receive our drinks we ordered as soon as we sat down. The water was served immediately but the drinks we thought they had actually forgotten it took them so long to bring them out. The food took absolutely forever as well. The bowl of salad they brought family style was a bowl of that pre-made stuff. Eating a salad there is like eating a bowl of lettuce with dressing on it. They ran out of filet's which was a huge disappointment. Granted it was Christmas Eve and they did offer other high end steaks for no up charge but I was there for the filet. I ended up ordering the shrimp and it was the best part of the meal along with the cocktail sauce. Everyone else ordered the Rib-eye cooked med to med-well but they all were cooked rare. The corn and green beans were straight out of a can and were horrible. We heard a waitress telling another table their mashed potatoes were made from a 50 or 60 lb bag of instant potatoes. Not saying they were bad but seriously?? The rolls and apple butter were very good. The chicken gravy was good. Final thought is this restaurant is highly overrated and charge way too much for low class food. It was not worth the 45 minute drive from Whiteland or worth the expensive bill at the end! People save your $ and just go to Cracker Barrel! No one in our party has any desire to go back to this restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone that wants a home cooked southern style meal. Also we had dirty plates stacked up on the table the entire meal. I was not impressed at all and would never go back to this out dated establishment. Took my girlfriend there for her birthday dinner. The atmosphere is great, I love the location in the small town of Morristown. They had it all decorated for Christmas, really nice. We were seated right away and the service was great. Rolls w/ apple butter were good. The soup was extremely thick, too thick. Side dishes were just ok. Why are the green beans sweet? Potatoes were too thick, not creamy at all and the gravy was good. The chicken was excellent, seasoned just right and not greasy at all, by far, the star of the show. Chocolate ice cream w/ fudge was a nice topper. All in all a good experience. They need to up their game with the side dishes though. The girls in front and the servers were great.
