I'm glad I did too, the food was fantastic and the family that runs the place were great! You walk in and greeted with a smile that made you feel at home. The menu had everything from beginner to adventurous, even down to the picky eater. I know we had the a picky eater with us that end up loving it. We had the mondu, galbi, and Jjampong. Everything was excellent especially the galbi nice and tender with great favors. I love the sides, the spicy cucumber hit the spot, the creamy potato was OMG no word to explain it, only thing was the Kim chi wasn't as spicy. Being a non-Korean Asian, I can't say how authentic the foods are, but I have to say that this is the ONLY Asian restaurant I LOVE in the upstate area. First, they use steel chopsticks. I hate disposable wood chopsticks not only because they are not sustainable, but all sorts of chemicals and aflatoxin in them. It's just hard to ignore the smell when eating with them. I've literally been to every Asian restaurant in Greenville, and this is the only place uses steel chopsticks. Second, they serve VERY high-quality leafy tea. I know few people here in the states would like hot beverage long with a meal, and maybe even fewer drink tea at all, but as a Chinese person, I like tea and know what's good tea by just smelling the aroma. I first came to the restaurant on a cold winter day and i was having a very bad stomachache. So I requested hot beverage and surprisingly, Steve, the owner of the restaurant, gave me a list of more than 10 kinds of tea to choose. Not tea bags, not fruity flavors. Real tea. I order jasmine, and even more surprisingly, Steve served it with a very unique tea set. I've ordered tea in countless restaurants in the US, and that was the first time I saw something other than tea bags in a cup. Last but not least, foods are great. Not too greasy, not too much soy sauce. Just the right amount of calories and flavors I need for a treat once a while. Well, I really can't ask for more when they have a whole amazing pot of jasmine pearls for only $2.50. All in all, this restaurant is just like a family-owned small restaurant in Korea. Warm and sweet. It will always be my go-to place when I'm in Greenville. Besides, I really like the small & healthy details of Asian traditions that this restaurant is keeping. Let's get a couple things out the way first: Yes, it's in a gas station strip mall. Yes, it's fairly small inside. The fact remains that this is the best Korean BBQ you'll find between Blue Cactus in Columbia and the restaurants in Atlanta's Asian Square in Atlanta. And I'd still put it up against those guys any day. I've been a regular customer of Korean BBQ for 7 years now. The quality has always been and remains high. I've even introduced several several people to their first experience eating Korean food. They always go in skeptical and come out converts. The food is fresh, delicious, and presented well. The interior is surprisingly clean and well appointed. And even the restrooms are quite nice and clean. If you're dining here for the first time, try the Kalbi (thinly sliced grilled beef short ribs on the bone), Bulgogi (grilled marinated beef), or dolsot bibimbap (be careful, it's served in a hot stone bowl). I also recommend the ginger tea. If it's not your first time, try everything! Note to families with young ones: our 4 year old son also loves the seafood pancake (yes, and it's seriously tasty). And I can't say enough about the owner. He is usually a one person show (sometimes two person if his wife is working there), but he's always kind and welcoming. Don't let the fact that there is fast food counter fool you, this is not fast food. This is good in that the quality of the food was higher than I would judge by appearance, but the service was a bit slow when we came for lunch on a Sunday. There were also service hiccups where they forgot my drink, and also that my entre didn't come until my companions were close to finishing their meals. I can't recommend this place for someone looking for a workday lunch, or who is otherwise I'm a rush. That said, the food was tasty. The kimchi jiggae had a pleasant spice level and came out boiling hot. The amount of pork was definitely minimal, but overall the flavor was good. The bibimbap also hit the spot. Seriously awesome Korean food. This is one of the places I first visited 8+ years ago that helped me develop my love of K-Food. I was not as experienced in the diverse flavours of Korean food and it helped fuel my growing love of the spices and flavours! I got to know the owner Mr. Lee (back then) and he was always so welcoming and genuine on my visits. Recently I visited after not eating here for four years and was shocked he still remembered me and is still as genuine. The food is also just as amazing but it appears the restaurant is more popular now. So popular that on my night visit he turned away some patrons as the place was full. They always bring you out an assortment of banchan after ordering to start the meal off. It comes as a fresh and healthy assortment of vegetables as usual. My evening dinner visit a I had ordered for main course the seafood pancake (haemol paejun) and also an order of gimbap (Korean sushi). The seafood pancake had a nice variety of squid, shrimp, mussels and crab. It's been a while since I've ordered this and it was amazing! The gimbap was fresh and had a nice light taste of sesame oil with fresh crunchy ingredients. It's great to come back to restaurants you have not visited in a while. It's even more awesome when the food is as good as you remember. This is the true sign of an awesome restaurant! I predicted years ago Korean food would grow in popularity and I believe it will still continue to grow! It's one of my favourites and I look forward to a return visit! read more

Authentic Korean food! We ordered the bulgogi, soon tofu, and kimchee fried rice. The entrees came with small dishes of pickled daikon, kimchee, cucumbers, broccoli, rice noodles, and bean sprouts.. which were all great accompaniments. We did not have to wait long for our food, and it was all perfect temperature. The flavors in the soon tofu soup were phenomenal, and the diner gets to pick the level of spice they want 1-5. We got a 3 because we like it spicy, and it sure was! I wouldn't push the spice level farther than that because the kimchee has it's own spice. Service also was great. I've been coming to this place for a long time now although I'm just now writing a review. I haven't been to here in a while since I try to avoid Woodruff Rd. I can't really say it's a hole in a wall type place because it definitely does not feel like one even though it's in a gas station. It used to be ran by a husband and wife team but it looks like they've gotten an extra hand when I came to grab lunch. Food is always great and flavorful. I love the small side dishes they serve with the entree. This time I didn't dine but I called in my order. In my past experience this is not the place to go if you're in a rush or if you're on the verge of death from hunger. It took me between 15-20 to get there from Magnolia Park because of Woodruff Rd traffic but they have my food ready when I got there. Only 4 star rating because I think it's a little pricey, their location on Woodruff Rd, and parking can be a problem if they are busy. read more

I ordered the lunch box (which by the way does NOT come with banchan- side dishes) I've been here once for take out a couple months ago and food was just okay. (I had a stomachache the day after and I have a strong feeling it was from this place) I decided to give it another chance. I ordered the spicy pork lunch box and bf got the spicy bulgogi. (He said his was okay but not great) Lunch box came with some japchae (not good- usually traditional japchae has lots of colorful veggies and the ones they served me was just noodles), fried mandoo (dumplings), salad, rice, and meat. For $10 a box and no side dishes, it rly wasn't a good deal. However, being in Greenville where there is basically no Korean food anywhere, this might be the only place to get some. I would not return for dinner bc the prices are high for what you get. It is run by family and the owner is a nice Korean lady. I wish there were more choices for lunch like soups read more

Delicious Korean food served with plentiful (usually at least 6) veggie side dishes. Main courses served on a sizzling iron platter, similar to fajitas, with the cold veggie side dishes in separate bowls. Never crowded here, perhaps due to the odd setting in a shopping plaza attached to a gas station. But don't be fooled by the setting - follow the Korean Barbeque sign and be sure to head inside for some very tasty food! Korean shochu wine on offer, as well as some beer choices. Last time we were there, the tea maker was broken so the server brewed up fresh iced green tea for us, and it was delicious. Also, occasionally they'll have a special veggie side, made from local veggies. The one awkward aspect of eating here for me is, once served, they really don't come back to your table. If you want more veggie sides, you can have them - we always request more and have never been charged extra - but it feels like they aren't included because you have to make some effort to flag them down or call them over, which feels a little awkward. This practice is consistent from visit to visit. This may just be a cultural difference. Also, for the check, just proceed to the register, don't wait for the check - which can be awkward when you don't know this. Great place, though! We'll keep returning. read more

And trust me, it may be on the side of a gas station, but it was absolutely phenomenal! Top of the line Korean food. I had the Seafood Spicy Soup with all of the trimmings as you can see and it was unbelievable. They gave me so much that I wasn't able to finish it all. Very casual and a little surprised at the high prices (some dishes are similarly priced in ny) being in south Carolina. Had kalbi, dolsot bibimbap, and bulgogi. Dolsot bibimbap - it's really hard to make this dish bad if you have fresh ingredients. And the ingredients were fresh. Meaning thumbs up. Kalbi (BBQ short ribs) - not close to the best I've had, but nonetheless above average. Would order again. Bulgogi - honestly, probably the worst bulgogi I've ever had. Dry, and no flavor. Good bulgogi should be tender, sweet, and full of flavor. Disappointing. Banchan (side dishes) were pretty good and fresh. Service was very good as well. The bulgogi was chewy, the Kimchi pancakes had about 3 pieces of kimchi and the side dishes.... horrible. Let me start off by saying, I would give Korean BBQ 4 or 5 stars for the quality of food that we ate, hands down. The only reason I'm giving it 3 starts (3.9 in my head) is that there wasn't much variety to the menu. When I asked if they had Mul Naeng Myeon (cold noodles), they did not. When I asked if they had Ojinguh bokkeum (spicy squid), they did not. Their side dishes were great, except there were a few to me that were missing and replaced with standard American sides. We dined at dinner time, and we went a little early (6pm) and it wasn't busy at all, only 1 other table was filled and it was with a group of Korean gentleman. But by 7:30 it was filling up fast, so just a heads up. Overall, this isn't a bad place at all, and I hope my review doesn't come off that way.
