We were seated in about 15 minutes at around 8:30pm on a Monday night. We scanned a QR code on the table for a menu also. Not sure what happens if you don't have a phone. After ordering, the food came fairly quickly. Presentation was nice with the rice pot and metal bowls. After the delivery of our food, service slowed. I didn't get any check-ins from the staff. We had to waive the servers down for water and the check. Food was delicious though, which keeps my rating still high. Good find in my opinion. read more

Kosoo Korean Restaurant recently opened a new location on Robson St, closer to Vancouver City Centre. Instead of focusing on Korean-French cooking, they have shifted to classic Korean food with "seoul." They have amazing soups and my favourite was the Wang Galbi (): premium short rib soup. The depth of beef flavour that came from just a single spoon of soup was out of this world. The colour of the soup was darker and richer than ones I have eaten in Vancouver. Also, the beef rib meat was fall-off-the-bone tender! They are known for their korean fried chicken and I highly recommend the honey butter one! It consist of boneless fried chicken, ugly mini potato, rice cake with honey butter sauce. This reminded me of the honey butter almonds from Tom's Farm and I really loved the crispy and sticky homemade chips drenched with honey butter sauce. Also, the fried rice cakes were a great touch! They have an irresistible light crispiness and along with the chewiness of the deok.... so good !! A Korean classic is the Yangneyom chicken (). Drenched in a sweet and spicy chilli sauce, this classic yangneyom chicken was a great sharing dish amongst at least 3-4 people. This saucy fried chicken came with sweet corn and a crunchy small crabs The hot pots are also unique because they have bulgogi and octopus! The beef broth used in their hot pot is very rich with beef flavour and I love how the glass noodles and vegetables soak up that deliciousness. I would go back for the honey butter fried chicken, soups and hot pots! Surprisingly this place was really good. I was extremely happy about this restaurant, maybe because they accommodated me and my group of friends of 10 people, shared a bunch of deep fried chicken, tofu soup, korean BBQ meat and TONS of SOJU~!! I didn't know that this Korean restaurant was so popular among a bunch of my friends, and that this was the first time in a long time me and my friends got together for food. We did drop a reservation 2 days before and they gave us a full table of 10 people to sit in a little corner, eat a lot of friend chicken and drank the night away. I really do not remember exactly what happened, but I know when I saw the deep fried chicken arrived, I was ecstatic. I literally screamed YASSSS. I remember i was so fast with my chop stick grabbing that I snatched one of the cheese deep fried chickens. LOL. Oh and I was extremely high at this point too, so the munchies were hitting me hard. It was celebration night with me and my friends so I had to get a little tipsy~!! From what I remembered it was a fantastic time at this restaurant, and for sure I made tons of memories that night! Stopped by at this new location after hearing about their $15 lunch menu for the month of February 2020. The ambience is quite nice and you get views of the bustling Robson Street. Big windows mean lots of natural light filters in and makes the place look bright. For the lunch sets (usually $20, and in my opinion still a steal), you can choose between spicy tofu and miso soup, and then beef vs pork belly. I choose miso soup and then the beef. The side dishes (SO MANY) are tasty, versatile, and refillable! Ranged from seaweed, to fried chicken, to fish and pickled vegetables. You also get a pot of rice each, and the waitress fills it with water after dishing out the middle so you can have the crispy portion that sticks to the pot. Everything was tasty and the service was good as well. I'm also allergic to nuts and this restaurant is completely nut free, so that's a huge bonus. But I think that for a regular dinner, for a party of 6, you'd want to add one more order of chicken, or another Korean dish. The yangnyeom (sweet & spicy) chicken was quite saucy. It was just a bit too sweet for my preferences but the chicken was nice and crispy. The honey butter chicken was definitely my fave. Deep fried rice cakes? So damn good!! I usually go to Kosoo on Cardero street. We visited this Robson location about few weeks ago for my first time. I was craving for Korean fried chicken. We ordered boneless Yangnyeom chicken, beef galbi short ribs and Kimchi pancake. I think I expected and excited too much. I loved the short ribs but other foods were just ok. Takeout: so rating is based on order, pickup and food. Ordered online, pick up about 10-mins later than scheduled as the order wasn't ready, staff were friendly and apologetic for the delay. Very likely some of the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had - and somehow it travelled well! How this deep fried chicken remained crisp and hot, having travelled in takeout containers in 8'C weather is beyond me. Opted for the half/half bone in fried chicken: honey butter / golden crispy options. For anyone that enjoys the the savoury & sweet combination would love the honey butter fried chicken. I enjoyed both, but definitely enjoyed the golden crispy version more; and the tiny crabs were a lovely crunchy highlight too. The chive pancake was tasty, that somehow didn't travel quite as well - leftovers were great after being reheated in a non-stick pan though, if only it came with more dipping sauce. We went for lunch and the meal was delicious. The price was moderate and the food was filling. The BBQ ribs are good and the lunch set was full of variety. Sometimes they run out of lunch sets towards end of lunch so better to go earlier in the day. read more

My family and I traveled from San Diego to Vancouver for the Dragonboat Feastival this year and loved eating at Kosoo. We tried several of their fried chicken styles and I loved all of them. Some were not as popular with everyone, but it was fun to try the creative mix. We were starving and had a blast. The wait-staff seemed to be legitamitely Korean-Canadian, I heard lots of Korean and the whole place's vibe made me feel like we were in a KDrama, so we loved it. Fortunately, I had prepped in advance and booked a month out because I was traveling. Not sure how much that was necessary. Anyhow, great staff, fun food, amazing city! Wish we had one in San Diego... But we do have other gems. read more

4.5 love the QR code waitlist feature, this restaurant isn't on street level so you need to walk up 1 flight of stairs which isn't a big deal before your meal after some alcohol lol. But all jokes aside the fried chicken here is very tasty boneless yet moist and not dry, but come with a large group the servings are pretty large. My friends and I visited Vancouver and decided to stop by Kosoo for dinner, as we were shopping on Robson and noticed it was close by. All three of us were starving, and we got super lucky - we were seated within minutes (even though Kosoo looked busy) and we ordered very quickly. We got the bossam (braised pork belly), the jokbal (pork feet), and the mushroom geongol (hot pot). The side dish selection here is fantastic, the kimchi was really great. Out of the main dishes, I absolutely loved the bossam and the geongol. I would've liked the jokbal more if it were less spicy, but unfortunately it was just too spicy for us. The bossam went really well with the side salad and we were able to make pseudo wraps with it! I think we ordered too much for three people - by the end, we were struggling to finish. But the geongol is really filling and has a little bit of everything - meat, veggies, and mushrooms. The broth was also great. Next time I think we would just get one bbq dish and one hot pot. I will give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Wait can be long and you'll have to wait outside the restaurant. Place was full at 530 when we got there. They call when your table is ready. We went to the nearby oomo to kill time, and 30 mins had passed and we got called. Boy, was it worth the wait, add the 5-block walk in the rain and the day before that the 5 hour drive from Seattle and the hour-long border wait. They were THAT good! Open for a year and a half now and getting great business and even greater reviews. Service was great, servers look like k drama stars and the food was bomb! We ordered fried chicken, soybean soup, and jokbal and bossam. And it came with the usual yummy rice and side dishes. Generous portions, flavor in every bite. Nice ambiance and well priced. Great spot that opens till late on Robson Street! Had a craving for Korean fried chicken with beer (chi-mac) so we stopped by. We liked the yangnyeom chicken which was a mix of sweet and spicy sauce- just wished it came with a bit more fried tteokbokki and sliced potatoes to complement the dish (I think we only had 3-4 pieces of tteokbokki in ours). Portion sizes were big, so come with a big group. The half size was more than enough for two people. They only serve Kloud beer in jugs not by the bottle, so be prepared to drink by the jugful over here! On the whole, we had a good experience. read more

Its a place I've always wanted to try since it was all over my feed! * Kimchi Jjigae ($15) ~ this was ok, I liked the fillings in this. It came with a load of rice too which is a perfect pair with the soup. I did wish it was a bit spicier and have more flavours, as I feel like majority was just soup and kimchi (which is good), but lacked some flavours and seasoning. * H/Supreme Chicken ($17) ~ THIS IS SO BOMB! I loved it, super crispy and the flavours were outstanding. Spicy and sweet mixture with the nice creamy balance from the cream sauce. The corn adds a nice sweetness to it too. The rice cake was perfectly cooked. Also the chicken was juicy and tender! * H/ Soy garlic chicken ($16) ~ This is good too super crispy and juicy. The flavours were not as strong as the supreme so after eating that this was a bit bland. It was a bit sweet from the soy. * 7/10 ~ it wasn't bad I liked the supreme chicken. If you don't eat meat or pork or beef this place will be extremely limiting for you.... Just know that. I didn't know that going in and I was seriously disappointed. The reviews were so great so we decided to try it. First off, this place is legit. There are only Asians eating inside. Second, looking at the tables everyone seems stoked and busily eating. However.... I only eat chicken in terms of meat, so fried chicken was the only option for me. There were no side dishes on the menu that I could order and the fried chicken doesn't come with Banchan or rice, it did come with some pickled radish (thank god!). The fried chicken was great. The original one was kind of bland and I really couldn't eat more than a few pieces. The other fried chickens that weee flavored were better. However I couldn't just eat fried chicken for dinner. We had: Honey Butter Chicken - crispy outside, moist chicken on the inside with a sweet buttery sauce. What's not to love? A very unique flavour Soy Garlic Chicken - this was good but not stand out as a standard Korean fried chicken flavour. But the chicken again was crispy outside and moist inside - well done. Jokpal - this was the highlight!! Do not miss out. I love jokpal and just had to try it here. The skin to fat to meat ratio on each slice was perfect and precision. The skin had a bouncy and slight chew texture - just enough for that perfect bite. The flavour of the marinade permeated each piece and pair that with the green onions and fermented shrimp sauce and CHEFS KISS!!!! Haejangguk - this was not a traditional haejangguk and was the worst out of the 4 things we ordered. Would pass on this. read more

The food here was tasty, and the portion of the Chibaps is filling. I enjoyed the Soy Garlic Chipbap tremendously. The location is unique as there is a large staircase that leads you up about two stories until you reach the front counter. Reservations are made over the phone, but are unavailable on the weekends. Since I planned a dinner gathering on a weekend, I decided to arrive 30 minutes prior and put my name down. This is done through a QR code at the front counter. On my third day in Vancouver this is the best meal I've enjoyed so far! The meat was tender and fresh, the beer was refreshing, ambiance just felt welcoming but what impressed me the most, was the server. I've been to this Kosoo a couple of times, and the one on Cardero a couple of times as well. This location on Robson is a lot more casual and easygoing. Staff are also friendly and attentive. We ordered their original fried chicken, kimchi jjigae, and selleong-tang which was definitely one of the most flavourful ox bone soups I have tried! This was definitely the star of the show as I thought the kimchi jjigae was lacking a bit in flavour. Both soups come with a bowl of rice which makes it filling. Was disappointed in the original fried chicken, as it was really bland for me. Make sure you get a flavoured fried chicken option instead! read more
