The restaurant is small and cozy with efficient service. The ceviche mixto was fresh but needed more zest, flavor and seafood variety. It seemed like the pieces of fish used were limited to the "sushi scraps." I would personally skip the chicharon mixto al ajo; the sticky "brown" sauce was bland and the batter, thick and under-seasoned.

First time ever experiencing a place that serves both Peruvian food and sushi. The great thing is that while there are some pure Japanese and pure Peruvian dishes, most of the options are a fusion that I've never tried before. They have a sushi chef making the sushi right in front of you. The service is amazing, the servers are super nice, and very attentive. The ambiance is really chill, it's not too loud but still feels homely. I would definitely recommend coming here

SO good! We always get the katsu with green noodles (I forget what it's called!) and the lomo saltado. Their yellowtail and tuna sashimi appetizers are really good too!

I love Kotosh!!! It has been one of my go-to restaurants for years and I realized I have not left a review since 2014. The food is consistently great with their Peruvian and sushi fusion menu. I especially enjoy the jalea and the saltado mariscos. On the sushi side, the Halekulani Special roll is my favorite, though I have tried most of the other rolls and they are all solid. You should try the Spam roll from the kids menu. It is great for adults too. This is a spot I have chosen for special occasions, including celebrating both high school and college graduations, and it is also a place I come back to for lunch on a regular basis. It remains one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

We come here a lot! It is definitely our favorite restaurant in the area. Everything is always the best here. They did change their calamari recipe, they said, and we didn't really like it so I do hope they change it back. But everything else is always 5 stars!

Thank you Kotosh and their incredible staff for making this retirement dinner for my wife an excellent and memorable dining experience. Their were 17 of us, 2 unable to make it, but we had an incredible time. Food and service were top notch as always, thank you. The sushi rolls for appetizers were excellent but our favorite was thay spicy tuna crunch rolls, extremely good. Definitely recommend Kotosh for all family gatherings.

The food was really good. Very well made and very tasty. The green sauce is delicious. The service was very good as well. The restaurant has plenty of space for small to larger groups. Definitely a place I would eat again.

This spot nails Peruvian-Japanese fusion. My husband is religiously loyal to the Lomo Saltado--according to him, it's the holy grail: great flavor, hearty portion, and best of all, they bring an entire bottle of the green sauce to the table (none of that tiny cup, pay-extra nonsense). I usually go for the seafood fried rice--can't remember the name, but it's always delicious and generously portioned (hello, doggy bag). If you've got room for dessert, try the helado de lúcuma--a tropical Peruvian ice cream with a SLIGHTLY mochi-like texture and a flavor that's oddly addictive. We always go during the quieter hours, and the service is as sweet as the dessert.

We haven't been to Kotosh for a long time and decided to go for lunch. We usually have sushi but was in the mood for Peruvian food. Hubby wanted the potatoes with cheese sauce and plantains. I ordered the chaufa mariscos. Server was very friendly and attentive. First dish to arrive was the potatoes which my husband loved. Creamy sauce with a hard boiled egg . Plantains were next and it was nice and hot plus a generous portion. Ordered California roll which were filled with crab meat so they were large and delicious. My rice dish was last and had lots of different fish which gave it a delicious flavor. Food was top notch and so was the service.

Had an amazing dinner here last night. The service was great! We ordered a few appetizers including tiraditos de atún and yellowtail, pulpo al olivo, and calamari. As main dishes I had ceviche de pescado and my friend ordered lomo saltado w/ beef and shrimp. Everything was well prepared and fresh. Absolutely recommend for a casual but good quality Peruvian meal.

PERUVIAN SUSHI! This lovely restaurant is a great fusion of traditional Peruvian food and Japanese sushi. The service is fantastic, ambience is casual. I've been here a number of times but haven't been here in a while since I don't live near anymore but it's the same as before, DELICIOUS! Here is what we had this time: Lomo Saltado with Beef always a must! Arroz chaufa with chicken, so savory, and great with the addictive green sauce. We also had the Acevichado roll, machu piccu roll, and albacore tataki roll, they were all great and a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian. I recommend you come here and order family style so you can try more plates.

    Cebiche Mixto

My friend and I happened to be in the Lomita area for lunch -- which is quite rare since we live pretty far away. Since we were nearby, we decided to finally stop by Kotosh Restaurant, a place I had heard great things about for a while. We ordered just the Cebiche Mixto and a glass of wine, because we supposed to eat lunch. Everything was wonderful. Our server was very kind and friendly. She mentioned that all the staff members are Peruvian Japanese / Japanese Peruvian (I wasn't sure which way she meant, but either way, that explains the great mix of cultures!). They all seem very friendly. My friend, who is originally from Peru, said the cebiche tasted just like the authentic ones back home, which is quite a compliment! The restaurant was very clean and comfortable -- not fancy, but cozy and welcoming. The prices were very reasonable, especially compared to similar Peruvian restaurants in West Los Angeles. I was really impressed. Next time, I'd love to try one of their main dishes and their modern-style sushi rolls. Highly recommended!

    Sudado Mixto
    Derek T.

There's good Peruvian food, there's good Japanese food, but have you ever had Peruvian-Japanese food? Kotosh offers just that. Okay, mostly Peruvian food is the jam since that's more limited in the area but here we go: The Sudado Mixto was a delicious mix of seafoods that just soothes the soul. You get hit with a nice hearty, savory sauce smell that you just gotta dish over rice or any carb you can get your hands on. I had to control myself lest I eat more than my dad. The Tallarin Verde is a favorite of mine personally, but did you know they serve it with chicken katsu here? Yeah, that juicy crunch of katsu mixed with the tonkatsu sauce and tallarin verde is a unique mix of Peruvian and Japanese done right. Loved the texture and flavors complementing each other. My mom got a chirashi bowl and said the seafood was all very fresh. Enough said. So there you go, Peruvian-Japanese food is an unusual combination but somehow it just works. Although the menu's a bit more like Peruvian and Japanese food rather than true fusion, but there are a few items that incorporate both elements into one dish so go and explore!

And when I mentioned the major delay (which delayed our dinner) and the wrong item, no apology. I guess years of loving the place, I approached our disappointment with a light touch but maybe that gave them the impression I was okay with their delay, and their oversight of actually messing up our order. We tried their lomito saltado and arrocito norteno. They didn't provide any aji sauce for the lomito (surprising) but were quick to bring some when we requested it. The beef was very tender! So although definitely more expensive than more casual Peruvian spots, we could taste the quality. I also loved the arrocito norteno, as I love seafood paella, and this was basically that. The scallops and octopus were so good! This place is a bit more luxe than the other Peruvian places I've tried before, which is reflected in their price. The flavours encompassed in the dishes we'd ordered which were the Lomito Saltado and the Aji De Gallina were as authentic here as what we dined on back in 2024 which certifies them as premier purveyors of Peruvian cuisine. Drinks wise, they had Maracuya juice which is their local version of passionfruit in that region as well as Chicha Morada which is their Purple Corn beverage composed of cinnamon, cloves, fresh lime juice and when in Peru, they'll utilize pineapple husks for flavouring. It apparently is more popular in Peru than Coca-Cola and after a few sips you'll inevitably see why. Next up when I return will be the Causa trio, in the meanwhile this establishment comes heavily recommended from someone who has traveled to Peru as they hit the nail on the head with their offerings.

We got the beef empanada and chicken empanadas. Those were pretty nice portions for $4 each and had generous fillings. I liked the beef one more. The lomo saltado was okay - the beef was cooked to medium but only a little juicy and a bit tough. The fries felt like they were frozen as some had weird texture and the rice is undercooked. I've had better so I was a little disappointed. The tallarine verde con pollo is a pesto pasta with chicken, Peruvian style. I love the creaminess and very flavorful and hearty pesto sauce in the dish. Noodles were of good texture despite it being very hot in temperature. The sangrias were excellent. For $7 it is fair for a nice cocktail drink. I liked the red sangria more. It was fairly strong. Service is good as expected since we were the only table and they made sure we got everything we wanted, on request.
