I used to do training rides from Davis down 128, up the dam, to Lake Berryessa and back. Winters marked the halfway point of the ride. The first time I did this ride it was evident that we had not brought enough food with us. It was raining fairly hard, so when we needed sustenance we hit up the Kountry Kitchen. I have been to many high end restaurants and gotten horrible food and even worse service, many times. I ran across Kountry Kitchen by chance, just looking for anyplace to eat. I was drawn to it because it looked like it could use a customer or two. Parking lot had a couple of cars there. I love "Hole-in-the-Walls". There was a couple leaving the restaurant as I was deciding whether or not to come in. They told me that the burgers were fantastic. That was enough for me! I'm in! As soon as I walked in and saw that it was clean and smelling so savory; and the there were no skinny people, I knew it was going to be good. I could smell what was already cooking, which told me the cook had an interest in the end product. So, I ordered the burger, a cheese burger, Nachos Supreme, Machaca Plate and a Al Pastor burrito. ...chips came to the table and the salsa was a rich, thick, well seasoned representation of what was to come. It was all very good and under-priced compared to some of the garbage that's passing for food these days. There is no way that I would come within 50 miles and ever pass this place up! Today was my first time coming in for breakfast and it's def not the best. I ordered two eggs over easy with hash browns a very basic thing but it tasted very plain. The service was fast and friendly. I wouldn't recommend this spot for break fast BUT they do has Asada fries that are freaking bomb! That's the only thing I will eat at this place lol read more

Everyone says how awful it is but that is because they're main source of business is high school students at lunch and break. It's packed with kids buying nachos, cheese fries, and burritos. I'll admit it - the first time I visited this place was out of sheer desperation. We'd driven into Winters (on our way home from a day at the shooting range) and the wait times at other restaurants made us walk right out the door. On our way back to the freeway we decided to give this place a try even though the exterior had us concerned. As other reviews have stated time and time again, the inside of this place matches the outside. First off, the layout inside is kind of strange. But looking past that, our table was covered in a film of nastiness that can only be caused by sheer neglect of duties. Not really an appealing way to start an eating experience if you ask me. To be honest, the whole place seems to have a layer of grime. Before our food came we all wanted to wash our hands (shooting and reloading guns can be messy work) and my boyfriend was the first to make the adventure in. Upon his return he wished me good luck on my turn in there. I will say, I have seen worse bathrooms, but this one comes pretty close. First off it's pretty tiny. Not a major issue, but the inside of the restroom seemed to follow the "layer of grime" theme that the dining area had. The toilet inside seemed new, but had a ring of filth in the bowl from lack of scrubbing. C'mon Kountry Kitchen! It takes all of a minute or less to scrub a toilet bowl and they could even get away with not doing it every single day. The lack of cleanliness throughout shows a lack of care from the staff. I'm honestly afraid to see the inside of the kitchen after this visit. It'd be interesting to see what they'd say if I asked to see it though. Now to the part that makes this place a business - the food. I will say, the food here is amazing. It really is their saving grace. My boyfriend's burger (from bun to bacon) was just as it should be - juicy beef, crispy bacon and soft bun with fresh veggies. My burrito was also really good. My friend described her fish burger as "the best I've ever had". So the food here is genuinely tasty and fairly priced. But the service sucks (our server checked on us ZERO times throughout the whole meal, only came to drop off drinks and food) and the place is downright disgusting inside. If only they could put some of their profit towards windex and toilet bowl cleaner we'd be in love with this hidden gem. As it stands now, I can't say if we'll be back again. It just honestly seems like the place is dirtier with each visit. Who wants to eat in a place that's as disgusting inside as it is outside? The name Kountry Kitchen was a little misleading. I was expecting a kitschy homestyle cooking sort of place, but upon walking in, my boyfriend and I discovered a pretty typical counter-service taqueria type place. There were no other customers but we decided to give it a try anyways. When the chips and salsa came out, we knew it was going to be authentic. Warm, salty chips. Spicy chile-rich salsa. He ordered the carne asada super burrito and I ordered the chicken sopes. As a self-proclaimed burrito aficionado, he said that it was the best burrito he'd had in a long time, certainly better than any in Davis. My chicken sopes were very good, but a little spicy for my taste. True, the bathroom wasn't the greatest but we weren't expecting luxury. And despite the other reviews that say it was grimy, the floors and tables were perfectly clean. Ambience was plain but for some reason they had unusually fancy ceiling fans. Went in b cause their sign said "bisquits and gravy which is one of my favorites. Unfortunately the sign wasn't misspelled. This is one of my family's go-to spots to eat. We are locals. If you're looking for good Mexican food, or an awesome burger VERY reasonably priced, this is the place to go. The patty melt is one of the best I've ever had anywhere. Warm, fresh-made tortilla chips are brought to the table if Mexican food is ordered. Do not overlook the Menu board when deciding what to order - there are options that are not listed on the printed menu. This is a small, family-run, and reasonably-priced place. I am saddened by the negative reviews by folks who are looking to dine in luxury. If that's what you want, this is not the place to go. We have been customers for over a decade, and the folks who took over ownership a few years back are making improvements but they are also raising a family, and honestly I don't think they charge enough to cover their expenses AND do a complete renovation. It's taking time! The tables and floors are always clean, the service fast and friendly, and the food is good. I can't say much for the bathroom. Use the bathroom at home before you come. Ha ha. If you're a snob, find a more suitable place to dine. If you want some good food, don't mind a casual atmosphere, and would like to support a young, growing, hard-working family living their American Dream, give it a whirl. I think you will enjoy it. We ate lunch here and we really enjoyed it. The place is a bit run down, but don't let it fool you. It has both Mexican and classic American cuisine. Great Food... Can't Beat the Price!!!!! Although this place was full with students, due to a High School being next door, my wife and I decided to stop by afler a long drive. The place wasnt that fancy, but something seemed "catchy". We ordered our drinks, and got our food within a 15 min waithing time. My wife ordered a French Toast meal with Eggs and Sausage and I ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger. ("Best burgers in Town" , the waitress said)..... Well, she was RIGTH!!!!
