I've never written a yelp review, but my dinner at KR last night was one of those meals that makes you want to tell everyone about it. We had drinks at the bar, followed by a delicious three course meal. We started with the burrata, fried artichokes, and the tuna. I love burrata and this is definitely one of my favorites I've ever had. Next we had two pastas-- the garganelli with a fresh pesto. So light and perfect for summer, I could have licked the plate. The other was the maltagliati with braised short rib. Short rib isn't my favorite but the flavored were still great. We got a few different entrees, but the highlight had to be the hanger steak with acorn squash purée and carrots. Oh my gosh, it was perfection. The steak was perfectly cooked and the combination of acorn squash and carrots was delicious. Can't say enough good things about this meal. Oh and our server Tiffany was great!! read more

We went for a wine tasting the other night...if you go, take an uber! There were some great wines and 6 tastings which were very generous. Started with some pink bubbles and finished with a delicious port. They had fabulous appetizers during the pair...hanger streak, tarragon shrimp, meatball fondue, trumpet mushrooms...everything was great!! I loved that they had so many food options to taste from the menu during the wine tasting. We also ordered a few pastas to share family style in addition to the food. All of the pastas were fabulous...crab carbonara, mushroom, lamb and a few others. All excellent. It was a great evening! It was a special event but the menu items were all in the $15-25 range. I would love to come back here for a date night or nicer dinner out. They have valet parking but if you are doing the wine tasting, take an uber and enjoy the night!! read more

KR Steakbar never disappoints. I've been to the establishment 3-4 times already and never had a bad experience. The atmosphere is amazing and very classy, and the service is always top-notch. As long as you have a reservation, they seat you pretty quickly. They have a speakeasy room that we tried for the first time on New Year's Eve. Prior, I didn't know it existed but my other friend introduced us to the secret area. It was pretty cool to walk through the kitchen and be seated away from other customers. As for the wait, the only time that it took awhile to get our food was on New Year's Eve, but that's to be expected with the amount of people that were there. Even so, the waiter brought us a complimentary appetizer for the long wait. For appetizers, we typically get the pork belly and meatballs. Hands down, the pork belly is my absolute favorite. It's very crunchy and has a nice balsamic flavor. The radish adds a nice kick to it. It also was presented beautifully as well. The meatballs were good also but not as good as the pork belly. I really wanted to try the duck sausage but they were out of it on the night that we wanted to try it. For the pasta entrees, we have tried the Pappardelle and Agnolotti. They were both equally delicious and I would highly recommend both for pasta lovers. I love coming to KR Steakbar for their steaks. I have had the Hanger 6 oz steak, the 6 oz Filet, and the Spinalis 10 oz steak. Of course, the Spinalis is the best steak but it's also seasonal. They don't have it as readily available as the Hanger and Filet. It's the most tender, moist, and flavorful steak of the three. But, the other two cuts are great to have too, especially since they're a little less pricey. As for sides, we have had the potatoes, the brussel sprouts, and the asparagus. I love the potatoes. I'm a carb girl and will eat the potatoes all by myself. It had a nice cheesy/salty flavor with a slight crunchy exterior but soft interior. It's truly my favorite side to get. The brussel sprouts were amazing too. Some of the pieces were crunchy and some were soft. It had a sweet flavor with a slight spicy touch, which gave this side a nice balance. Lastly, the asparagus was my least favorite. It was sautéed in this creamy sauce that I did not enjoy that much. We don't eat their dessert menu a lot, but I decided to try their ginger snap cheesecake. It was delicious and did not disappoint. I really liked that they brûlée the top of the cheesecake. It was a nice touch, especially since I was in between ordering the white chocolate creme brûlée and this cheesecake. Overall, I love KR Steakbar. It's a little on the pricey side since it's fine dining, but you get what you pay for. The portions are reasonable, and the food has amazing flavor. The environment is classy and the service is great. I don't drink much alcohol, but they do have a nice selection as well. I would definitely highly recommend this place to potential customers. I always forget about this gem of a place in Peachtree Hills! Came here on Saturday night with a girlfriend - when I first arrived at 7, it was pretty empty but was quickly full by 8. We decided to get several smaller plates and a pasta to share. We did the octopus, brussel sprouts, seared tuna and spaghetti Nero. The food was amazing. Octopus was grilled and served with a great sauce - so tender! Brussels were crispy and delicious. The tuna was good but kind of standard. Spaghetti was amazing and had big chunks of crab in it. We were full after dinner but wanted a little something else. We ordered the chocolate hazelnut mousse dessert. So good!! Try to leave a little room to try it. Well, it's always fun - yet angsty - when you introduce your boyfriend to one of your best friends. Will she approve? Will he approve? Will I have to manage all the conversation? ?Etc etc . . .Fortunately, my friends and J are pretty similar types . . . So last night, I was excited and optimistic all would go well - my friend is a big eater and foodie like me (and she's a thin little thing because she works out all the time so she can eat hardy! I need to take notes!) and she suggested KR Steak Bar. Till my recent displacement, I lived right nearby, and J and I had talked about going since it opened, but hadn't yet. Note - we had to look up the address to make sure we knew where it was, but just so you know, it is just past ADAC in that part of the "shopping center" plaza. It was good! We started with the calamari - three notes on it- it is grilled (nice change) and it is REALLY spicy (too much for my taste) and a really small "bar" bite or whatever they call it (J ordered a second one, it was that small) - and then the ricotta spread, which was awesome. We sat at the bar, something both J and I and my friend and I enjoy regularly when we dine out, and our bartenders were great and very attentive. We got the hanger steak (two orders) and it was really good. Med rare - perfectly done. (Side note - this friend and I met over steak, so . . .) I like most meat products like this and was pleased. Cocktails were nice - my vodka rocks, his martini, her wine . . . overall, definitely a good first visit and a place to which I'd return!! read more

OK. So I wanted to get a quality NY Strip with a side of spinach and relive the glory days of Prime @ Lenox Square's happy hour when you could get a super great steak for 1/2 price. I dug and dug all thru Atlanta's steakhouse reviews and finally settled on the KR SteakBar. Here is the down and dirty. -The Staff and Service were excellent. -The artichoke, meatball and Romaine appetizers were SHOCKINGLY MEDIOCRE. I had this sick feeling that we were in big trouble after the first round of food came to the table. When is the last time you ever let a server remove an uneaten meatball? The answer is NEVER. -The Booth we sat in was not comfortable. -The decor of the joint seems a TAD dated. -The Steak and fingerling potatoes were frigging awesome. Next visit I sit at the bar, order Steak & fingerling potatoes and get in and out and not spend 2 hours plus eating MEDIOCRE APPS in an uncomfortable booth. Mission accomplished. read more

I love the Kevin rathbun and wanted to try all the different restaurants. I loved KR steak bar with the Italian twist. I came here for Valentine's Day dinner and loved my experience. I love dried aged steak but after finding out that the are similar to Kevin rathbun, I wanted to try something different. We ordered the ribeye, grilled octopus, crab spaghetti and fried kale as a side. I must say everything was delicious but the fried kale was surprising refreshing taste And to finish it off I had the passion fruit tarte and it was a perfect finish. read more

Considering I am a chicken person and not steak I really enjoyed the chicken. It was nicely prepared and tasted great. My friend ordered a steak medium rare and it was almost more raw than rare. He did return it and they did bring him another one that was to be medium rare but it appeared to be rare still. Eventually the steak was cooked to my friends liking. I assume if you want medium rare you should order well done. read more

Definitely one of the best meals I have had in Atlanta. The pasta is made fresh and the little bar in the back is not to be missed. Get the Orecchiette, you won't be disappointed. The steaks are outstanding and I love that it's in a little tucked away neighborhood. While not "cheap", you could become a regular and dine here pretty reasonably. This place has been around for years, but for some reason, I had not been for a meal yet. I went for dinner with business colleagues this week and had a fantastic experience. We sat at the large semi-private table in the middle of the restaurant which was a really nice setting. As a larger group, service can be an issue sometimes but Ashley was our server and she was amazing! She caught on to special needs (we had a pescatarian and a guest with gluten intolerance in our party) and catered to them throughout the meal. The cadence of courses was perfect with us never feeling like food came too fast or too slow. The food was excellent as well. We ordered several appetizers of which, my favorite were the meatballs and the octopus. For the entree, I got the Spinallis which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor! Finally, Ashley was amazing and brought us complimentary desserts (Afogato and Tiramisu) which were delicious. I would definitely return and recommend that others check it out. read more

Ben (our server) walked us through each portion of the menu, of which he was extremely knowledgeable! Best service maybe EVER imo! The food...what can I say? Meatballs...maybe only 1oz, but they're made from all the Prime grass fed steak trimmings used on the entrees! What's more...they were med-rare!!! WOW!! Pasta...i chose the Orecchiette with lamb neck. Rich, perfectly hand made pasta...cooked to perfection!! Side dishes...if u don't order 2 sides of the Brussels Sprouts...you are doing it WRONG! My dinner this weekend was not as great an experience as expected from the KR family of restaurants. We were waiting for our reserved table at the bar and the two ladies almost never turned around to the corner we were seated. I counted over15 minutes before we could wave down the one who eventually came to pour us a drink. Two bartender tending the same side of the oval bar, neglecting the other side? Once we were sat, the delivery of appetizers and meal was painfully slow. We often had to look around to catch the attention of our server for an update. Once the food came, things went smooth but by then we were already a little disappointed. I have eaten here in years past and the Octopus was always great. Now, is shriveled up and not easy to cut. The size for the price is not worth it anymore. They do have marinated olives that are out of this world. We dipped the bread in the marinade as it was just too good. MANAGERS: THE MUSIC IS TOO LOUD IN HERE! The dining experience is diminished when you cannot really hear the person across. read more

On a busy and chaotic Valentine's Day the service was great and the food was out in a timely fashion. Knowing how hectic the holiday can be it is challenging to get it all right and at KR Steakbar they did. Our only complaints about our experience was the music was entirely too loud to have a conversation as well as the location of our table across from the booths we had several employees and guests bump into our table. My son and I opted for the chef's pick dinner. Glad we did! Started with a good charcuterie plate, followed by meatball appetizer and Caesar salad. Terrific! Then a pappardelle pasta dish, some of the best I've had. For the proteins, the scallops and spinalis, cooked to perfection. Veggie was the Brussel sprouts, and to top it off we had the cannolis. KR Steakbar was not a disappointment in any way. We had early reservations for a Friday (6PM). We were warmly greeted and immediately seated. First the ambiance, the restaurant was about 25-30% full when we arrived and toward the end of our dinner, it was about 60-70 % full and the noise level and ambiance were not hugely effected. We were able to carry on a normal conversation, and the seating was spaced nicely and you did not feel crowded. Staff was amazing, EVERY SINGLE Staff member was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our waiter was Wilson and he was very friendly, made some nice recommendations, and did not pressure us to hurry. He was happy to place our appetizer order in and then came back for our entree order. Now the good stuff, the food was incredible and unique. Our appetizers were the arancini and the grilled octopus. The arancini had a light crust and the cheese and filling were very tasty. The grilled octopus came with a spicy sauce that was not overly hot, but warmed up nicely as you ate the dish. Mains, were the pork chop and the 20 oz Ribeye, with the sunchokes and asparagus for our sides. The steak was cooked to order (Medium) as was perfect. It had a smokey balsamic dressing on it and while I am not usually one to put a sauce on my steak, this one complimented the meat perfectly and enhanced the charred smokey grill taste. My wife's pork chop was excellent, very tender and a good portion as well. The flavor was very nice and we really enjoyed the Sun Chokes. If you do not know what those are, they are the meaty portion of the sunflower. They have an eggplant texture, with a mushroom flavor if this helps any.. Either way, I recommend them very much. Price to portion ratio was on par with a quality restaurant. I do not mind paying for a unique experience, between the grilled octopus, Sun Chokes, and the way my steak was prepared, these were all different than how I have enjoyed these dishes at other restaurants. If you are looking to enjoy an excellent dinner in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere, I strongly recommend KR Steakbar. Thank you to Jason, Wilson, and the KR staff for a great night. Came here for a birthday dinner with reservations DAYS in advanced but somehow my group of friends ended up at different tables- flaw #1. #2 The music was way too loud for an upscale restaurant. I could barely hear across the table and had to yell to be heard. #3 We got seated at 9pm, didn't get our food until 10pm. But the whole time we were waiting, our server failed to check on us to refill waters, distribute the straws we asked for multiple times, etc. #4 We were recommended the Spinalas since we were told people come from all over to try this one cut of steak at their restaurant, it was very popular. So we ordered with high expectations. $60 for a 10oz steak that was far below my expectations. I'd rather go to Little Alley's. GOOD THINGS: bone marrow. That's it and that's sad considering it was an appetizer. read more

Our group of six was put in the back room, which was quieter than the rest of the restaurant. We thought that was a good thing. The service, however, was very poor. The waiter wrote down nothing and got a couple of things wrong. In fact, when the entrees were brought to the table, one was missing. We had to wave down another person to get them to notice and remedy that. Our assigned waiter also pretty much invisible. Overall, not as good as I'd been led to believe. Followup to the above review. I went to the restaurant's website, and contacted them via their email. The purpose was to explain the above issues, and a couple of others not mentioned here. No response. I then wrote again, to express my disappointment at having heard nothing. Again, absolutely no response. For that reason, I'm reducing the stars to one. read more

If you are looking for a sweet romantic spot this place will definitely fit the bill. However, if you need somewhere for a boys night out this is the perfect space too! We had the pappardelle and the steak. I'm pretty picky about my pasta but this meat sauce mixed in with this thick cut pasta was the bee's knees . I made a reservation same day and they accommodated my request of having a drink on the table when we arrived and once cream for my husbands 30th birthday. The service is TOP notch. KR Steakbar was a wonderful place to go to celebrate a special occasion. Though I loathe going to Buckhead, this isn't *really* Buckhead, as it's actually tucked away in a more residential section of Peachtree Hills. Valet is free, but not really needed, as there's not much else happening in this little shopping strip (at least on a weeknight). However, once you enter the restaurant, you forget you're in a residential area, because the interior is super swanky, romantic, and modern/trendy. Though this might be Buckhead, you can definitely see Kevin Rathbun's Inman Park roots come through. You'll want to dress to impress for sure. This would be a great date spot, a fact that many people at the bar seemed to be embracing. We started with the artichokes with dill and pangrattato ($10) and the much raved over grilled octopus with potato, charred onion, and orange segments ($11), and because we had a friend working the bar, were gifted an order of the arancini (normally $6). The artichokes and octopus were out of this world. Both were marinated first, before being finished in the deep fryer or the wood-fired grill respectively, and were packed with flavor in a thoughtful and exciting way. I would say that one appetizer is barely enough for two people, so you may want one per person and then share. For entrees, my date gave me a major case of order envy. That's not to say that my scallops were bad (they were amazing), but his 8oz shell steak, rubbed with espresso and horseradish and wood-fire grilled, was possibly the best steak I've ever tasted. Though he ordered it medium and I'm more of a medium rare girl, I think their medium was more on the rare side, so it worked out in my favor. This was a beautiful piece of meat. Our sides were the potatoes with rosemary and garlic ($6), which were super crispy with just a hint of spices, and brussels sprouts with preserved lemon and calabrese ($7). I love brussels sprouts by any preparation, and these were some of my favorite (but not quite displacing Local Three which has the best brussels in the city). My date doesn't drink, so we stuck with sparkling water, which was kept refilled with fresh glasses through the evening. We concluded a wonderful meal with a shared chocolate budino ($6), which was a rich but fluffy chocolate mousse topped with candied orange peel and roasted hazelnut. One of my favorite things about Kevin Rathbun's restaurants is the attention he puts on dessert, and this was no exception. While it didn't quite knock Rathbun's out of the spot of my favorite of this restaurant group, KR Steakbar came pretty close. I'm glad to have a good reason to come back to Buckhead! read more

Very odd service....came in asked for a table, white male host said "sorry can't seat you outside, we don't have any servers working out there" there were definitely two groups sat outside. Not too sure what that is about. He said we would put us on wait list...gave no indication what time frame we would be looking at. Went to wait outside saw empty tables against the wall inside, and figured why not ask about those. After inquiring, the host was a little rude, looked us like it was rude we even asked and said "that's reservations only"... It's buckhead so it's hard to tell if the guy was just being racist and profiled us or just plain snobby read more

Sigh....hmmmm...I am a little baffled by my first experience at Rathbun's newest place. I have and continue to be a big follower of his two places in the Inman area so was awaiting an experience that differed but excited my senses. The location is in the peachtree hills area..nicely set and easy to get to. You walk in and it has a nice feel that is similar to the other locations. We ask to be seated in a booth by the bar. It is my husbands birthday so we ventured away from eating at the bar to sit side by side in a booth. So far so good but then it takes a u-turn as I am waiting to get an introduction from our waiter with a spill on the place....u know the basics this is how the menu works , my favorites, etc etc. I was ready and willing to spend several hundred to experience this new place to its fullest. We got nothing but a menu and an statement that it is pretty explanatory along w a drink menu on the corner...I barely got to ask before he walked away. He comes back and says "find anything you like" ...for real! Finally my husband asks for the sommelier since we could not get a clear response to a wine selection. I wanted something unique different...I know enough about wine to know the countries and years that the wine brings. However, after a little pressure he did recommend a nice wine in a half bottle. I love the option for the half bottle ..it was a slightly chilled red which I enjoy. After much probing we got the waiter to give us a few of his favorites..really was that so hard. Eating is the experience along with the flavor so I hope they get this implemented into this new location because that has is not what i expected from a Rathbun location. I can not lie though the food was delicious..flavored well...and presented well. I am sure I missed on many other great dishes because of the lack of support in the experience. The salads colorful and did not miss on any flavor combination..the steak perfectly cooked I will give it another shot at the bar and possibly re-review. read more
