I am blown away at the service, food, and ambiance of this place! Perfect for date night or even a fun night out with friends, KR SteakBar is a gem of Buckhead! Vibes: I made reservations for 7 on Resy for my friends bachelorette party on Saturday night, it was easy and quick. The bride wanted a good steak in Atlanta and we took a chance to try something new. I requested from the assistant general manager, Ryan, Table 80 (semi private area in the middle of the dining room) thinking that's the table we wanted but when we arrived, Ryan had way better plans for us: a private table set up in the SPEAKEASY in the back of the restaurant (past their fancy main dining room, kitchen, and coolers!) which had much more fun vibes for our intentions as a group as they had the best party music bumpin back there! (Early 2000s rap, ayyy u kno it! Lol) thank you Ryan for setting us up at an amazing table! Service: The WHOLE service team and really tried to make it special for us. I know a bachelorette party is not always the most welcomed group (we tried to keep our woos and flashing fake rings to a minimum) but I was so appreciative of how every server we had (especially Kelly) really we're attentive to each and one of our dining experience (even special dietary needs such as gluten free and dairy free)! To make our night feel even more special, they went as far as gifting us with champagne as soon as we were seated, delish meatballs that were enjoyable by the whole table (dairy and gluten free), and even offering to dim the lights for a bit so we enjoy seeing our silly toy rings flash brighter :D LOL! We did arrive for a late dinner at 9:30 and we stayed way past closing time of 11pm but they did not rush us or make us feel unwelcome day any point. Food: EVERYTHING we tried was absolutely excellent! The meatballs were so savory and meaty. Brussels Sprouts that were crispy with a hint of orange. I got the shell steak medium rare and enjoyed every single bite of it! The bride got the ribeye and wowww, the crust and fat marbling was outstanding! This week is Georgia Restaurant Week. Dozens of restaurants in Atlanta and the state are offering multi course meals for discount prices. A great excuse to try new places. We had been wanting to try KR Steakbar in Peachtree Hills for awhile. Each participating restaurant offers specials from $15 to $45 per person. KR offered three courses for $45. We had to reserve our table for four through the restaurant website because they are not on OpenTable. It was easy and they texted me a confirmation within 15 minutes. The first thing I liked was the easy and plentiful self parking. I HATE being forced to valet park. I'm a stickler about my cars being perfect and valets have caused door dings, scratches and once a bad accident to my car. We dined tonight, Tuesday, and there were at least three dozen empty self parking spaces. Yay!!! The food options included in the restaurant week menu were all great choices. Two of us ordered from the restaurant week menu and my partner and our friend chose to order from the regular menu. We started with two orders of the blueprint oysters. They were fresh and delicious. The bread platter was incredible. It was a focaccia type bread but it was sweetened and served with olive oil, a little weird to have a sweet bread but it was delicious and I could have eaten an entire loaf. The texture and taste were unique and just delicious. For my $45 three courses I ordered the arugula salad with pistachios and the house dressing. Delicious! My second course was the grilled salmon served on a bed of pesto and diced tomatos. There seemed to be a glaze on the salmon as well. It was awesome! My third and final course was the creme brûlée with fresh berries. Yummy!!! All three courses were the perfect portion size and a great value for the $45 price. Mark chose to order the ribeye from the regular menu and declared it one of the best in his lifetime. He loved the balsamic glaze and perfect char on the surface while retaining a juicy center. My brother and friend loved their selections as well. The only criticism is the size of the tortellini. Our friend that ordered that as well as the table were surprised at the small portion size. Adding just two or three more tortellini would have been a better deal. We had multiple rounds of their specialty cocktails and we loved them all. My favorite was the Isole Italiane. The waitress stated that other patrons have complained about portion sizes since opening. My three courses were perfect in size and quality. Mark and I spent $174.00 plus another $34 for tip. A fair price for the specific items we ordered and for enjoying them in a beautiful space. We sat in the curtained area which helped mute noise so we could have a conversation without shouting. Last time this happened it wasn't a take out order, but sitting inside the restaurant and the manager was very rude about it when I asked for it cooked more. We went to KR SteakBar on a Friday night with friends and loved our experience. We sat on the patio which was lovely. The staff, from our waiter, Anthony, to the bartender to the busboys were all super funny and it seemed like they all genuinely happy to be there. Working a restaurant job is not always easy and it their positive attitudes made the experience of dining there even better! Between all of us, to drink we got the Mask burner, Pod Goals, OOP, and the Cardi G to drink. All of the drinks were fantastic. The chili oil in the Mask Burner does have a little kick, but totally added to the cocktail. The Pod Goals was my personal favorite as I am a huge mezcal fan, but I really don't think you can go wrong with any cocktails on their menu! For shareable appetizers we got the romaine salad, pork belly, and the burrata. They were all good, but I am going to have dreams about that creamy burrata and how delicious it was. Two of us got the special pasta to eat, which was a shrimp pasta dish. My husband got the garganelli pasta which was so good and unique. I have never had a pasta dish like that, but it was so fresh and yummy. Our friend also got the pan roasted chicken which was so juicy and 100% worth ordering as well! We didn't have room for dessert, but I will for sure plan on that for next time. It was such a great date night restaurant and a great place to take friends. Our second visit and we were so very happy to return! Our server, Aaron, from weeks prior spotted us and came and welcomed us back. A special touch, and then introduced us to Valerie, behind the scenes, before she approached the table. Dinner was exceptional again. It's easy to sound like a broken record. What stole the show was the orrichiette with the corn purée which was so very fresh and wonderfully seasoned... this combined with the Spinalis... a perfectly cooked cap of the ribeye... with olive oil and aged balsamic over it upon serving... and finished with a grilled lemon squeezed over the top along with a roasted head of garlic on the side... Simply Amazing. We can't leave out the beautifully roasted potatoes with a tomato aoli. If you're not already full, then let us finish you off with velvety-crafted, perfectly flavored pistachio and butterscotch gelato with a lemon cello waffle cookie. Enough. Treat yourself. I was recommended KR Steakbar by friends and was excited because they said it was their favorite. We got seated in this hidden area which was cool. The music was kind of awkwardly loud r&b but I thought was hilarious and I didn't mind it. They asked what water we wanted and fully expecting sparking and still options was underwhelmed by Fiji (plastic) being their best option. the wine list wasn't great so we got espresso martinis which were great. The complimentary bread was so salty we couldn't eat it. I thought maybe we just got over salted pieces, but the server said he tried it and agreed it was really too salty...We ordered mussels, octopus, arancini and seared tuna to start. When we got the food it all looked just okay. Everything was luke warm and was just not great. The presentation was covered in arugula or spring greens which hid the very unpleasant meal underneath. We ended up cashing out early and not ordering dinner because of how bland everything was. I don't know if this was just an off day, or if this is the standard, but was pretty disappointed with my experience. The food here was amazing. We started off with the burrata- it was good but I wish it had a bit more of a sweeter element, maybe a light honey drizzle? Good combination of cheese, fruit, and nuts but again, wish it had something to offset the marsala and the Swiss pesto. For my entree, I had the scallops. The scallops were perfect, they were done right with raisins and walnuts. My entree was the main reason for the five star rating! My friend had steak. We shared a side of potatoes, brussel sprouts and egg plant fries. Overall it was a great experience, the ambience was nice, the wait staff attentive, and parking was easy with valet right in the front. We made this reservation over a month in advance. I called several times, left voicemails, emailed the restaurant, and spoke with the staff in person when we arrived, to let them know it was my wife's birthday. No special service, even though the table beside us got it for their birthday. We arrived 30 minutes early. Our entire party was there on time. We waited 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated (total hour and fifteen), then substantial amounts of time after that for each part of dinner. I very clearly asked for my salad, then pasta, then steak to come out in that order. Pasta and steak came together and they tried to give my food to several other people. This happened with other members of my party as well. Honestly, this wouldn't have mattered so much if it wasn't part of the rest of the lack of attention to detail. Got our checks at around 11:30 p.m., after my wife finally expressed her frustration with the situation of waiting for them for so long after everyone had finished and were sitting around. This lead me to believe it wasn't the previous table that was the problem getting up and leaving, as the hosts suggested was the issue with seating us on time. We really felt neglected, which is too bad considering it was a $300 dinner tab for my wife and I, plus the $100 + I spent at the bar while we waited to be seated for our reservation, not to mention, the other 9 members of my party's checks and bar tabs. Easily over $2,000- and we were treated like trash. We will not return. Way too many great steakhouses in Buckhead, that value their customers and treat them like guests instead of inconveniences. We had dinner at KR SteakBar last night. A late night dinner at that. We have been here 5 times and it has never disappointed. This time was late on Saturday night. We had drinks to start then I had the 10 oz. Ribeye. WOW! It was perfect. Medium Rare. It had arugula & balsamic which paired perfectly with the steak. The boyfriend and I were itching to try out a new establishment. Enter: KR SteakBar; since we love Rathbun's other restaurants, we decided to try KR SteakBar since it was much closer to us. Wow, just wow! I had another AMAZING dinner at KR Steakbar. Usually I do not believe in writing another review for a place but this restaurant continues to impress time and time again. If you are not eating here you need to be ASAP! Last night we had Jason, the restaurant manager pick our entire meal for us. #Jasonpicks, we regularly do the chefs pick which I also highly recommend. We started with a cheese course- the soft white cheese was mind blowing paired with the honey that was given made a perfect starter to an excellent meal. From there we had the pork belly and the heirloom tomato salad. The pork belly was a huge highlight for me, on the spicer side due to the calabrese peppers, this was cooked to perfection and served over creamy polenta- make sure to get this dish. For our main course my boyfriend and I were served the porterhouse steak, pappardelle pasta and the asparagus. All which were absolutely amazing. The steak was melt in your mouth good and cooked perfectly to a medium rare, the pappardelle was flavorful and not to rich making it the perfect side for the steak, the asparagus was fresh and a seasoned nicely. I'll list all of the positives first... The food had a lot of complex flavors. So you may not like the taste of a particular item, but the fare is high quality, nonetheless. The decor is classy upscale. The tableside service was very good. The food and wine menus had great selections. Valet parking was good. Now the negatives... Our first experience was the hostess, who acted snotty and rude. (Note to management: she is better suited to working at Applebee's.) The noise level was unbearable - a MAJOR turnoff. The meatballs were lukewarm. The wine menu online is out of date. One of the cooks made no attempt to hide the Takis he was eating while preparing our food. The wine prices were excessive - about 2.75x retail price. And the coup de gras... I spent the rest of the evening nauseated and puking my guts out from food poisoning. read more

I had the spinalis steak and the cut was fantastic but the sauce/marinade distracted from the cut of beef. I would have preferred to have it less teriyaki and more traditional steak seasoning. A good cut of beef should only need salt and spices. The steak was over cooked at medium well versus medium rare. I was there entertaining customers and wasn't going to distract from the purpose of the meal (customers having a great time) by bringing the issue up during the meal. One of our customers, however, asked for medium well and got a medium rare steak. He did not finish his meal but he was being kind and respectful to not make a big deal about it. A group of 4 of us braved the windy weather, and made it to this newest edition of Kevin Rathburn's restaurants. We ordered the Chef's selection. It was $55/per person, not including drinks. The entire table had to order it, and it was a sharing experience. Let me tell you, we arrived at 8:30, and were completely stuffed when we left at 11:30. We had a togo box! There were 4 of us! Starting out, the place is completely cool. Subway tile, urban finishes. You could be in a warehouse, or you could be at your boss's house...I don't know. It is definitely impressive. We had an end booth, and it was by a drafty door. Those silly people that thought it wasn't really 32 degrees outside! It only happened once, and they know no space heater was going to work. Some people are just time-wasters. There were 4-5 courses, and each had multiple plates brought out. Out of probably trying 15 things, I liked everything except the meatballs. I don't like meatballs, maybe I am crazy. You tell me. Meat and Cheese plate, jalapeno Pasta for days, alfredo pasta, Brussels sprouts, scallops, and STEAK was TO DIE FOR! My Brazilian friend said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had. We cleaned our palette with sorbet before entrees. If you didn't know, this place is fancy. We had 2 bottles of red wine...and at $100 a head including tip, I am ready to go there again. Really, like tonight after I am done writing this review. My only complaint is 2 desserts to share. I have never been so ecstatic to update a review - yippee! 2 years later, I'm happy to change my 2 star rating to a 5 star - heyooo! We decided to come for Buckhead Restaurant Week, as KR Steakbar was offering an awesome $25 menu. Several friends had patroned KR Steakbar and proclaimed it much improved, and I figured enough time has passed - may as well give it another shot. I made reservations online for a Wednesday night at 7:00pm. I noted it was my friend's birthday and that we would love to sit outside, as I had heard the outdoor patio was lovely. I got a phone call reminder the day before and voila, they noted all the requests I had made. Great sign. We walked into the restaurant right on time. Our table wasn't ready so we sat at the bar (which had seats this time!) and ordered a round of cocktails. I was a little nervous that we were going to have a similar experience as last time, but hooray! About 10 minutes later, our table was ready and we were seated outside along the fence under the trees. Perfect. It truly was a perfect spring day - not too hot, not humid, just right for sitting outside. Our waiter Mikale was fantastic. Such a gentleman, super pleasant - he's everything that a great waiter should be. He immediately noticed that we had brought two wines with us (note: you can BYOB up to 2 bottles; $20 corkage for each bottle) and went to get decanters for us. A+ service! He brought them out, noticed some debris in both decanters, and went back to get two clean ones (plus a filter for our big cab sav). The cork broke on one of our bottles, but he was a star and successfully extracted the remaining half. And then Mikale made my heart sing: upon asking if they had morels, I was told not only did they have morels, I could have them however I wanted. HOWEVER I WANTED. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? This is truly my idea of heaven: perfect outdoor setting, great wine, jazz, amazing service, wonderful company, and all the morels I could ever want. Some fresh delicious bread and wonderful olive oil were brought out and we chomped on that while perusing the menu, as everything sounded great and the idea of adding morels to allllll the things really made it difficult to choose. To buy more time, we ordered the formaggi misti and some coppa, which went really well with our wine. I really enjoyed the cheeses, especially with the honey and marcona almonds. I could easily come here just for salumi and cheese with a wonderful glass of wine and to enjoy that outdoor patio. Based on Mikale's recommendations, we decided to split an order on the tonarelli (add morels) and the maltigliata. Both pastas were on point, cooked perfectly al dente, and OMG the morels in that pepper sauce. Light, delicious, heavenly. I would highly recommend ordering both again. Hubby and I also decided to split the steak, quickly settling on the shell steak plus an order of the spinach. Although our steak was a little more done than requested, the coffee rub was really delicious. I immediately proclaimed that the seasoning tasted like what hubby makes at home. Delicious as can be. The spinach was out-of-this-world amazing. The chili oil really brought out the spinach and I loved the spicy taste against the coffee steak. And did I mention we added MORELS TO OUR STEAK? Because we did, and they were cooked in buttery deliciousness and made our meal. We ordered dessert, something I rarely do, and it was an easy pick for me: brulee lemon tart. This may be my new favorite dessert in the ATL. Its got all the wonderful qualities of a tart lemon bar (omg, that crust...) with the crunchy goodness of crème brulee. Very light, delicious, and splittable, as a few bites are very satisfying, especially when paired with a glass of prosecco. Our friends got a chocolate dish - it seemed like coffee ice cream with donuts - I have no idea what it was called, but also very very delicious. While having dessert, Kevin himself came and greeted our table and chatted with us for some time. I felt very welcomed by him in his restaurant. In two years, so much has changed at KR Steakbar. A perfect patio has been added, with bushes that shield the street/sidewalk from patrons, while large trees shade guests with super cool lighting that comes out at night (I thought they were bird feeders in the daylight, but nope - awesome lights!). The atonal music has blessedly been replaced with Sinatra and Ella, the busy menu has shifted to more pastas and steaks (I'm a font person, and I really like the design of this menu vs. the old), the staff are on their A game, and the food on point (and portions much bigger). Chef brought out a delicious selection of meats, 3 appetizers: risotto fried marinara balls, braised pork belly, and the INFAMOUS meatballs! Ya'll, I'm not kidding. These meatballs are amazing. Must try! Chef continued with two selections of handmade pasta dishes, then a nice offering of lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet. A nice touch!! We were SO full at this point but the food was so good we couldn't stop! Next came the entrees: shell steak, fried egg pork, fingerling potatoes, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms. I started with the sweatbreads which the table decided they would share in. I followed this with the ribeye (shell), but I got the horseradish rub on it. This was pretty awesome as well. Another great one of Rathbun's restaurants! I was slightly hesitant to try out KR SteakBar due to the negative reviews. However, we had a wonderful dinner here over the weekend and cannot wait to return. With the name KR SteakBar, it kinda surprised me that it's an Italian restaurant (before looking at the menu of course). Nonetheless, the food was amazing (all but one item). Service was top notch; our server's so knowledgeable with both the food & wine menus. We decided not to get any steak here because we always go to Kevin Rathbun's steak for that. ~ chef's choice cured meat plate - generous portion; everything was very good especially the prosciutto ~ octopus - so tender & delicious ~ carpaccio - the meat was good but overall this didn't have enough flavor for me... it was pretty bland ~ pappardelle in pork & beef ragu - apparently one of their most popular items; it was perfectly seasoned & had just the right amount of sauce; pasta made in house ~ olive oil cake w/ whipped ricotta & strawberry sorbet - amazing! the cake's so moist and everything just goes so well together ~ milk chocolate semi-freddo - so rich & delicious! I would've preferred dark chocolate but this wasn't extremely sweet as I expected Valet or street parking. Gorgeous outside patio's available but it was pretty chilly when we went so we sat inside. Great food, awesome service! Ate at the bar. We were able to take our time with our drinks and meal. Good experience overall.
