Went there on July 21, 2026 when I say Kevin took great care of us. It was my 3 friends and we were just enjoying life. Kevin rolled out the red carpet and everything was phenomenal. From the service to describing the menu and giving recommendations I truly enjoyed myself. The food was phenomenal we had the hot tray with the lobster, shrimp, and scallops. We also had the caviar service which was great as well. For our main course we had the steak with scallops and the sides we had the cheesy mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms with wine sauce. The old fashions will get you where you want to be. And the desert is just divine, we got the 10 layer chocolate cake and the blueberry with walnut cake and à la mode. I can only speak for myself, but I don't typically eat at fine dining establishments like this and while I'm sure it was obvious, the team members that served our table did not make us feel embarrassed about dining here for the first time. Food: 1000/10 - not a single miss from what we ordered. We started with the jumbo lump crab mayonnaise which comes with a side of saltine crackers, the shrimp scampi, as well as the burrata salad. The 22oz ribeye was a lot thicker than I would've preferred and the flavor was a bit lacking. The sides were also just ok. Walking into Marcel, one is transported to another world. A moody, retro, classic world where bowties are worn unironically in a setting that could best be described as a boxing gym renovated with industrial touches to become a steakhouse in the 1940s. That world could be anywhere. It could even be in Midtown West Atlanta. Service was impeccable. Servers knew we were celebrating our anniversary and were attentive and helpful when making tough menu choices. Pacing was definitely geared toward fine dining. 40 minutes between starters and entree was a BIT long, but it went by. Steak was wonderful (a porterhouse for 2), cooked to a perfect medium rare with seasoning appropriately calibrated to not overpower. East and west coast oysters were fresh and the Marcel salad to start was underdressed and lacked flavor (I enjoyed how they plopped a mound of bleu cheese on top to mix in; I pushed this aside which my server and I laughed about. He said he'd do the same. Maybe it's a sign). Hot bread service with a spreadable cheese and prosciutto was a nice touch. The French fries are probably the best I've ever had, and the asparagus was asparagus (slightly undersalted if anything). Chocolate cake was impressive in presentation but unremarkable for flavor and consistency. My wife enjoyed her decaf coffee as the best she's had at a restaurant, but her cocktail left something to be desired and was extremely tart. A Mexican coke was perfect enough for me. The pricing here is exorbitant. The price tag isn't necessarily a problem given the caliber of dining experience and ambiance that Marcel provides, but given some of the misses on staple items (namesake salad, "famous" chocolate cake), I'm not sure that value for dollar spent is present. In transparency, our dinner comprised of the above was over $400 with tip, which was aligned with expectations walking in the door. Whether the food stood up to the actual place and pricing is a debate. I lean toward an answer of "almost, but close enough not to be insulted." If a gun was pointed at my head to pick the "best steakhouse" in Atlanta, I'd pick Bones without thinking twice. This place is a close second probably, but places like Nowaks in Sandy Springs, while not the same echelon of formality, might have Marcel beat on flavor and definitely have Marcel beat on value for the dollar. Marcel was absolutely impeccable. I had been aiming to cross this restaurant off our our list and today was the day I was able to do that. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare - medium). I enjoyed redfish topped with Jump Lump Crab Oscar sauce (with crabs). Both proteins were amazing, but I was surprised by how perfectly cooked the fish was. Delectable. For sides, we enjoyed Cream Corn Gratin and Pommes Frites Béarnaise . Both were complementary of the proteins. The dessert was a 10-Layer Chocolate Cake. It was sooo good. Sweet but not too sweet. Good as it looks. Lastly, the ambiance was amazing. It was like stepping into a portal into a different space in time - almost made you forget we were in Atlanta. It's a bit dark inside - but a well lit darkness - just like I like it. Did the New Year's Eve prix fixe at Marcel with a late reservation for four. We were welcomed with Champagne while waiting for our table, which was a nice touch--though the wait itself (about 30 minutes) was the least enjoyable part since the place was packed. I followed the drink pairings, which meant plenty of Champagne. Second course included escargot, prawns, scallops, and stewed beef cheek, paired with a velvety Cabernet Sauvignon. Not usually an escargot fan, but it was solid. The beef cheek was the standout--tender, juicy, and rich, with oxtail-like flavors. Easily my favorite bite of the night. We had to leave before midnight to catch fireworks at the Signia Hotel, so the remaining courses came home with us: Salade Marcel, a huge 30oz tomahawk steak, jumbo lump crab cake, broccolini, and au gratin potatoes. I was in Atlanta for a fun weekend with friends and sought the advice of locals on the best steakhouse. After hearing Marcel's name again and again, I made a reservation for last night. When our Uber dropped us off, I still wasn't sure if we were at the right place. Then I noticed a small sign with an M and a boxer on the second floor. So up the stairs we went. I'll say this, from the outside, this doesn't look like a great location, but once you enter the restaurant you are transported back in time to a European dinner theater. If you ever watched Mad Men, you could envision Don Drapper sipping a martini here. The restaurant is named after Marcel Cerdan, a French boxer and national hero who popularized beefsteak dinners. The design of the napkins, matchboxes and menus reference the boxer. Atlanta restauranteur Ford Fry is renowned for his collection of high-end restaurants and is the creative force behind Marcel. It has been opened since 2015. Each table is served by a waiter and a captain, decked out in a black tux. Sonny, our captain, was straight out of central casting. He had the French accent you'd expect in such a place. I just wish his review of the menu didn't take so long and he specified some of the house signatures. We started our meal with the bread service that was truly unique. It was served with prosciutto, whipped feta and olives. Next up were East and West Coast oysters with a variety of sauces. I still can't tell the difference, so I guess I need to eat more of each. I've heard that the Oysters Marcel, Steak Tartare and Bone Marrow are all awesome choices from the starter section. We ordered a split Salad Marcel and it seemed like it could have been split again. Huge portion. We had a hard time tasting the bacon vinaigrette. Super flavorful and tender. For $100 less, you could try the amazing L'Entrecote, which is a ribeye cut with French fries. We were told the sides can serve two to three. I'd correct our Captain and say they could serve four to six. We ordered the Cauliflower Gratinee and our dining partners ordered the Pommes Dauphinoise, which Sonny said was the best of four potato options. It's basically potatoes au gratin. The crust on top was super yummy. I would say that the French fries and Bearnaise are supposedly the best in the city. Guess I'll need to order that next time. There were no lags in our service, nor were we looking for someone to refill our water glasses or take another cocktail order. I noticed a number of men dressed in suits that I assumed were managers, but they never stopped by our table to check in on us. To close out our evening we tried a variety of desserts, including the incredible Ten Layer Chocolate Cake, Crème Brulee and the Apple Pudding Cake. All were outstanding. Dined at Marcel for the first time. I went with a group of ladies for a Post-Bridal Shower dinner and I overall enjoyed it. Beautiful restaurant and the ambience is amazing. The service was top tier however took a while for the food to come out. The food was good--but maybe I was expecting to be floored as it has been considered one of the best restaurants in Atlanta but I would say it's still very good. Drinks were good and pretty strong. We had salad for starters. And for my meal, I had a steak. We ordered the asparagus and cacio e pepe pasta (which was amazing!). Would come back! read more

I visited Marcel last night for my birthday dinner. The service was some of the best I've had in Atlanta, thank to you Mark and Jaden for being so attentive and kind! The restaurant is gorgeous but the star of the show was definitely the food. Everything was good. The oysters were fresh, the bone marrow was rich and all of our entrees were amazing - there was not one complaint at our table. As a frequent visit and for one who doesn't care for service, the quality control of this restaurant is top notch. From the tea to appetizers to dry age to oysters, all are worthy of Michellen star. Usually not a fan of steak houses as it's more cost and taste efficient to grill at home but this is a cozy upscale place to visit with the dry age after taste that makes it hard to taste at home. read more
