So much less chaos than Oakland and better selection. If you have an old 90s car this is a great place to come for some parts. Cars from the 70s and 80s are hard to find here now. Most cars are from the 90s and 00s. I suppose that is to be expected. There are currently two Mercedes here with the legendary OM606 engine - its the first time I ever saw this car in the junk yard. I happened to walk past and notice one - a 99. Not surprisingly the engine was all picked and pulled out - somebody probably dropped it into some sort of pre smog car for fun. When tuned they car be very, very fast. Enthusiasts love to put big injectors on and maybe a bigger turbo. Its a great idea - as no matter how hard you push that engine it can handle it. The only negative is some sort of rubber burning smell I think from nearby homeless. They burn whatever even during spare the air days. If people burned clean dry wood it would be one thing... but they burn who knows what and the fire is suffocated so it smolders. I guess nobody was a boy scout. I got a few parts for my ALH tdi - they had four gas versions here. Door panel, weather stripping and a bunch of small bits and pieces. People here were friendly and I think the parts prices were not as bad as in Oakland. In theory the prices should be the same but I'm convinced it doesn't work that way in certain cases.

Never thought I'd end up here! But my boyfriend needed a few parts and the junkyard was the answer. Make sure you wear something you don't mind getting dirty! This is truly a do-it-yourself situation. You pay like $2 for entry and literally walk into a wonderland of used cars and vans and trucks and stuff of all ages and colors and sizes. It's astounding really how much is hidden back there! It's a free for all. Kinda fun, especially if you love cars or just pulling things apart. Bring your tools and gloves too if you're really trying to get down and roll up your sleeves. Parking lot has plenty of space and it doesn't seem to be overly busy. But also that place is HUGE so no need to worry about not finding a spot or getting what you need (unless it's crazy hard to find). It's a gold mine. A treasure hunt. A totally interesting unique experience I won't forget anytime soon!

Went to pull a few parts for my daughters car, removed needed items then took the parts to the cashier after being given the total for all the parts, the cashier began talking about Pick N Pull memberships but did not return to me one of the parts I had paid for which I didn't notice at first because I had two other parts that had a similar color so I trusted that all would have been given all back to me. When I did notice I did not have the part I paid for I tried to call to see if I could pick it up tomorrow no one answered the phone which was very frustrating. Needless to say I didn't get the part that I paid for and what was more bothering was the cashier not attempting to return to me the part I paid for as I was leaving she when I was parked at the main entrance not even 30 feet from the cashier window and blocked by incoming vehicles so I had to wait in parking lot directly in front of the cashiers office for 10 minutes. My suggestion to anyone would be to not assume the employee's integrity and to double check items paid for before leaving this location. Also I did notice that several people entered this location by climbing the fences to not only avoid the $3 entrance fee but to remove parts from vehicles without paying. My three stars is the best review summarized. 4 Stars for vehicle selection, prices 2 Stars for customer service* *Cashier did not give part that was paid for, another person ignored me when I asked if they could move a vehicle that was blocking my exit lane and another blocking the main entrance to the Pick N Pull. Better overall customer service would make this location comparable to the American Canyon/Napa location.

The initial research only put an additional layer of confusion on the process. I remembered Cartelligent as an option to purchase a car and the process began. Zach was on it! There was never any pressure to buy however he took the time to understand our requests and did the research to find exactly what my wife and I were looking for. The demand on the car was high however he was able to locate the vehicle and get it to us in a timely manner. No more dealerships and sales managers for us. Thank You. Tom and Robin R.

It seems like it can be good in the right circumstance, but it's worth being a bit careful about it. A friend highly recommended the advisor, saying that they'd saved her a lot of money on her car lease and made the process easy for her. I called and talked for over an hour to the advisor. They were knowledgable and friendly - great customer service. I figured that I may be able to save a little money by looking for a deal myself, but that I wanted to save the time and hassle, so the cost would be worth it. Also, I liked the idea that Cartelligent had access to better deals than I would by purchasing at volume from fleet managers. My plan was to lightly get offer prices myself, compare them to the price Cartelligent got, and then hopefully having validated that they were beating my price sufficiently, I could use them forever and rest assured that it was a worthwhile deal. I reached out to a few dealerships and got opening offers. I was shocked when my Cartelligent advisor came back with an initial price that was worse than three of the five dealerships I'd reached out to, and that was before their $600 fee. When I explained this, they responded a little defensively and asked for proof I had better deals. When I provided it, they came back the next day with an offer $50 a month cheaper than the one they first sent me - a cost difference of $1,800 over the course of the lease! Thank goodness I'd looked on my own and not taken their word for it. The experience shook my faith a bit, so I decided to negotiate with the other dealerships myself and compare. Once I got a bit further into the process, I gave Cartelligent the ability to win my business if they could get to a specific number by dropping their quote a little further. They were unable to do so, so I kept negotiations up elsewhere. Specifically, when I asked if they could get to that number, the whole email they wrote back was "That's awesome. That's a great deal" and that was the last I ever heard from them. With a little bit of work, I ultimately was able to secure a lower price than Cartelligent had before taking their $600 fee into account. Using Cartelligent would have cost me many hundreds of dollars more than negotiating on my own over the course of my lease. At the same time, I was trying to sell my car through them. I did their thorough online process, taking pictures and filling out the form. After it was clear I was going to negotiate a bit and not just take their first price, I stopped hearing about the sale process from the advisor. After the "That's awesome" email, I never heard back from them again, even after asking for updates on the sales process over email. They ultimately never gave me a quote on my car. I think they got mad at me and ghosted me, which I found surprising and unprofessional. It's possible I was able to get an unusually good deal because the EV market is weak right now. The second quote - the one $50 lower - was reasonable, and it did take me a little work to beat it. However, it was clear to me that you should always do your own due diligence and get quotes to check the ones they give you. If you do that, ultimately, you aren't really saving yourself that much work, so I'm not sure the $600 fee is worth it. Edit: David reached out, and we talked about my experience. He sounded as surprised as I was by my experience, and he's looking into it. I was impressed that he would follow up!

Buying a used/pre-owned vehicle seems quite the mystery most of the time, and any car purchase almost seems subject to endless hassle until you get the keys.. Enter CarMax.. Backstory: At the recommendation of a good neighbor, we decided to consider CarMax when shopping for an extra car for the family. They have a HUGE selection of vehicles at each of their locations. As with everything these days, we started with searches on all the usual car shopping websites, but CarMax seemed to have the most solid candidates worth considering. There was one car that we liked at a CarMax store located maybe 40 miles away, so we requested to have that car shipped to CarMax's Colma location - at no cost to us. After a test drive of this and another possible candidate, we decided to purchase the car, but they don't take partial deposits! That said, they could reserve a car for you for 24/48 hours, so we returned with the funds to pick it up two days later. The salespersons seem to be non-commissioned, and all were interchangeable in role and well trained to perform pretty much any part of the sales process, everything from tire-kicking mode, to closing out the sales paperwork. Practically zero up-selling during the sales process either.. Just a question about extended warranties, and that was it. Write the check, and the car is ready for you in their inbound/outbound area. SIMPLE, STRAIGHTFORWARD, ZERO HASSLE, Professional competent courteous service with a great selection of pre-owned vehicles that seem to be in pretty decent shape. PRO TIP to be aware of: These are used cars, and we found that minor cosmetic damage isn't always ALL listed on their web listings when they tend to just show one imperfect spot. Minor cosmetic damage is stuff such as curb rash or minor scrapes on the body less than 3" long. Remember, these are pre-owned vehicles, so a little bit of wear and tear is to be expected! We are happy with our purchase here, and certainly would keep CarMax on our shopping list in the future!

I don't want to sell it to a private person because at our age I am concerned with safety as well as making sure I get my money. So I started researching selling and buying prices in the area. CarMax offer was so good that I was afraid they would bait and switch but I had my plan B. I had a shipping quote. I could always ship it back to Ohio where driving is less scary Other companies, for the most part, wanted me to drive it over to them without giving me a tentative price. The companies that did give me a quote were looking to make a huge profit at my expense. Nope CarMax gave me a quote, dependent on whether I was accurate about the mileage and condition. I walked out with a check for the amount they said they'd pay. The entire process took about an hour or so. Timothy was our guy. He clearly explained things. My license plates were put in a nice CarMax tote bag. Timothy then asked how we were getting home, we are seniors. I was going to walk a mile to Colma Bart then grab MUNI once I hit the city. Timothy treated us to a Lyft. Definitely a 5 star experience from start to finish.
