I ordered a sirloin steak and it was cooked wonderfully, however you only get 1 side with the entrees so it seemed a little barren with just a small side of vegetables and no potato or anything with it. The Springfield group has created amazing consistency in their offerings. The filet is always spot on and flavorful. The salad I asked for extras, like bacon, cheese, etc. it was probably the best salad I've had in years. Their food is fresh. The servers are amazing and friendly. The Springfield is my "go to" favorite spot to take friends and business associates because I can almost guarantee the meal will be flawless. Not a great spot. Was really looking forward to upscale dining but found the place to be more "family style" dining with an effort to be fine dining. First turn off was not having a Luxardo cherry in a $12 bourbon cocktail. Followed with a switch to beer which was warm. Appetizer was overpriced and underwhelming My food was undercooked. Ordered lamb medium-well and it came out rare. Side dish was an icecream scoop of mashed potatoes. Service was slow all around. The service for the Sunday brunch today in the bar area was exceptional. Unfortunately that is where the good experience ended. We arrived at noon, one hour into the brunch. They were out of the Quiche already and another side of scalloped potatoes that was on most of the other dishes. Ordered a Bloody Mary and it had to be the worst I have had in years, very disappointing. I'm not sure what kind of bland mix they use but should be ashamed (unless they were out of that also). This place was right by the hotel we stayed at. They're a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately we were here for funeral services and this was for our luncheon. The restaurant is very nice and clean and the staff are all very attentive and courteous. An older gentleman got a bit lost looking for his wife and ended up in our function room but the staff was quick to help guide him back. We had shrimp cocktails, Spinach dip, and crab cakes for apps and they were all wonderful. For my main meal I choose the Filet Au Poivre which was simply delicious. Very disappointed with our experience last night. My wife ordered the Zing Chicken, and got maybe 2 ounces of chicken breast, and a cup of very garlicky pasta, on top of which they placed a huge hot pepper. This entree didn't come with a salad or any kind of a side dish. For the money, this just wasn't worth it. My sister-in-law ordered the House burger. She was asked how she would like it prepared, and she responded "medium." She paid an extra dollar to add cheese. When it was served, she took a bite and discovered that the burger was well-done. After that first bite, she didn't eat anymore, and didn't take it home, either. I ordered the Cod sandwich that was supposed to come with a side dish. I chose the mashed potatoes. After I paid the bill and left, I discovered that I was charged an extra $3 dollars for what should have been included with my meal! Pretty sneaky practice. The one bright spot was that our nephew had the crab cakes which he enjoyed. On balance, given the quality of the food and the inattention to preparation along with the increased cost of the menu items, we probably won't be coming back here again. Hidden in the shadow of Youngstown Ohio, Springfield Grille was once a gem worth seeking out for any and all special occasions. The service was second to none in the area and the food was exceptional from start to finish. Diners were tantalized by a collection of fresh breads shortly after being seated and from that moment forward they knew they'd leave fat and happy. In its heyday you'd be hard pressed to choose an appetizer that didn't thoroughly impress. Pasta dishes were smart and bold, the spicy dishes were actually spicy and the creamy dishes were like velvet. The true test of any steakhouse, the ribeye, was a piece of art and more often than not a bone-in ribeye was offered as a special and it set the bar in the geography for years. When the meal seemed to be over and the stuffed and smiling diners were ready to throw in the towel a dessert tray would float to your table like a dream. Eight or more desserts, all looking better than the last, would make your decision for you. Driving home you'd be planning your next visit. That was then, and this is now. Covid killed the Springfield Grille, they just don't know it yet. It has been a long seven years since I was last thoroughly impressed by the restaurant that never used to miss. A visit in 2021, shortly after reopening to indoor dining in the days of Covid, the experience was less than perfect. The service was rusty, the menu was limited but the expectations were still high. Veal Truffle Ravioli, a creamy pasta dish which was a staple on the pre-Covid menu had been reduced to a watery mess on a cold plate, if we knew then what we know now, that would have been the last visit. The ribeye was not on the menu, sourcing issues were cited as the reason and the NY strip did not satisfy. This must have been a fluke, they will right the ship, the dessert was still a thing to admire and the appetizers were better than most, maybe they just need some time. A year or so later the bread was still good, the appetizers were good too and the ribeye was fine. The desserts hit their mark. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The experience was flat, something had changed and we were not excited to return.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After years of monitoring from a distance, asking friends about their experiences and reading reviews online it felt like it was time to return and pass final judgment. In August 2025 the meal began with a stumble. The collection of breads brought to the table had been reduced to a small loaf of stale white bread. Bread before a meal is free so it doesn't really count, but it does matter. The menu had changed and the old standby of calamari was no longer offered which was disappointing but understandable, everything changes with time. The tavern peppers and the seared ahi tuna were both a hopeful sign of good things to come. When the steaks arrived something was clearly very wrong. A petite filet looked like an anemic pork chop cooked in a microwave, standing no more than 3/4" you'd be hard pressed to pick it out of a lineup as a culinary delicacy. It looked more like a dog's dinner than a $6/ounce prime cut. Looks can be deceiving, but not this time, the medium rare request was answered with a deep gray well done disaster. The ribeye was also a sight to behold and not in a good way. Though cooked as requested to medium rare, the steak lacked seasoning, char, and it too was cut very thin. It did not start the cooking process at the advertised 14 ounces, it's simply not possible. The steaks were choked down. More pressure than ever was on dessert and when the tray arrived it was clearer than ever that things were different for the worse, for good. Instead of a tray with eight or more desserts, a small tray with four was brought table-side. The tired and ever-boring cream brûlée, a silk pie, peanut butter pie, and a lemon cake. The desserts were always half presentation and half taste, now they were a disappointment from first glance. The best bite of the night was dessert but much like being the smartest little boy in a room full of idiots, it just doesn't matter. I will never be back. read more

One of our favorite stops in the area. We try everything but typically start with shrimp cocktail which are meaty and tasty. We also recommend the tavern peppers flatbread. As far as dinners, we've had the surf and turf, filet, ribeye on our many occasions. The restaurant also has a respectable beer and wine list to keep our thirst quenched. Springfield Grille is all about that upper-class atmosphere, dark-wood accents, animal head wall décor, that sporting flare that reminds you of Saratoga Springs, and the prices to match. While good, you won't be blown away by the food, but the service is often friendly and competent. The Springfield Grille is part of a chain known as the Springfield restaurant group. They have an identical restaurant with the same name in Mars, PA which this franchise owns. I have always been pleased with going to the one in Mars but since this was my daughter's birthday and she now lives in Ohio I met her here for lunch. Masks are required when entering and walking around the restaurant and may be taken off when you are eating food. The restaurant is set up the same way as the one in Mars with tablecloths and wild game statues, pictures, and even a buffalo head. It is very clean and well laid out. They have a bar area and a private dining room for special events. On this particular visit we had an outstanding waiter who was overly friendly and made us feel right at home. I ordered their soup of the day which was a sweet potato bisque. It came with oyster crackers and was delicious! The Springfield grille is known for their crab cakes so I had an entrée with one crab cake, a side of asparagus and a baked potato. My daughter had a burger and fries. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. We were also give a basket of fresh baked bread so we were really stuffed. At that time the staff brought out a huge piece of chocolate fudge cake with whipped cream in the center and they sang "Happy birthday" to her. She was blown away by their thoughtfulness so we were able to share a little of this delicious cake and then wrap it up for her to take home. This location is very close to I 680 in Boardman, Ohio and is easy access to the Ohio turnpike. We decided to come here for date night so we didn't have a reservation. However we were able to wait at the bar until there was a table available. In retrospect we should've just eaten there because it was comfortable and the bartender was awesome! Our food was great. My husband and I both had steaks and they were both cooked perfectly. Like stepping back in time... Springfield Grille hasn't changed much. If you like the 80s country club vibe this is your place. The look is complete with animal heads, closed wooden blinds and dark wood paneling. (Who doesn't want to eat sitting under a hairy buffalo head?) The crowd can get a little routy there, especially when they seat a table of 30 retired golfers in the center of the room. Be prepared they get loud so hopefully you won't want to talk during your meal. There IS a vegan menu, but you have to ask for it. Dad seemed happy with his lobster bisque and Mom liked her vegan bolognese dish. I thought the stirfry was a little salty but wasn't bad. We are used to eating at the Springfield Grille in Seven Fields PA. This is not that. We have gone to the one in Boardman twice in the past year - to meet friends. We have been very disappointed both times, to the point that the last time three of the four diners hated their entrees. My chicken Marsala was very overdone; my friend's Reuben had very little meat, and my other friend was served "old" fish" pasta, which was a "special." What is very different from the restaurant in PA was that no one seemed to care why we didn't finish our meals. In PA they ask why you didn't finish the entree.
