He got the medium clam strips (weirdo). I got the small bellies and we shared the small onion rings. They were lightly battered, cooked perfectly. The taste was fresh and delicious. You could tell the oil was clean and they drained the grease before loading the boats.. As you can see by the picture, the portions were generous, we ended up taking a good amount home. This is a very casual restaurant where you just go up to a counter and order and then pick up your food. Think of a local captain D's. We got the 2 way basket with fish and oysters. I love that it comes with fries and onion rings. I thought everything tasted good, the tartar sauce could be better but overall everything was fine. Not a place I would look to for any type of date or outing with friends. This is a spot to just fill your stomach with seafood and not have to tip a waiter. If you follow my reviews you can see that I've been coming every summer for 5 years to this location and always raved about it. Came back today and was so disappointed. I had heard that quality went down but I didn't want to believe it, but sadly true. I got the clam strips, belly clams, clam chowder, & coleslaw .. everything BLAND Clams were lightly battered and were just ok nothing to rave about. Coleslaw had no flavor - tried adding salt and you can't fix coleslaw it needs to be seasoned when you're making it with sugar, salt etc. Clam chowder consistency was fine but again so bland and the clam pieces were chewy - kept having to spit them out. The fried seafood plates are great. The fish is fresh and delicious. Also, if you are gluten free, you can order your fish to be gluten free after 4pm. I had gluten free fried clams, they were the best I've had on the cape!! If you want ice cream for dessert, it's right there, and the ice cream is good too! Greasy seafood restaurant in Chatham. The building is old, but clean inside. Outdoor and indoor seating. You place your order and pick it up and eat at your table or take it to go. We ordered calamari platter and it was a huge heaping mound of French fries, onion rings and calamari. They were all drenched in oil and just unappealing. The oil was dripping off of everything. The mound probably weighed a few pounds. The restaurant was dead, only a couple people there for lunch. Employees were very nice. My family and I went to this restaurant last night before the Chatham A's game. My dad and I ordered the Fried Clam basket with onion rings and fries. They were the best fried clams that I have ever had! So good! My brother, his wife and my mom all got the lobster roll. They all liked theirs. My nephew had a hot dog and he liked it. HUGE portions of delicious fried seafood. They offer all kinds of stuff - whole belly clams, clam strips, oysters, calamari, scallops, you name it. The plates come with fries and onion rings. The onion rings had a good crunch to them, the fries were soggy in my experience. I also didn't need both, and wouldn't have minded the ability to swap one for a green vegetable on the side. I wish they offered a mixed platter, but you can hack it together by doing a two or three item plate, then adding a few others a la carte. My favorites were the scallops and oysters. This is not waterfront dining, but in my opinion the best fried seafood on Cape Cod is found here. My wife and I have eaten here several times in the past couple of years and the food has always been fresh, cooked just right, and generous portions. Many other restaurants lack this high level of consistency. My personal favorites here are the fried whole belly clams, scallops, and fish--always tender and flaky, with a light, crispy batter that melts in your mouth--and their tartar sauce is among the best I've had. I love the fish sandwich, where the piece of fish is always way bigger than the bun. I also love the clam chowder, which is always full of clams and flavor. Prices are reasonable. I especially like how they provide different price points for small, medium, and large sizes. Even the small size is often enough to satisfy my craven for delicious fried seafood! "Kreme and Kone?" I thought, how good can this place be? It is highly touted on the radio waves and by personal friends recommendations but the reality of greatness was unknown. I mean, eating seafood down the Cape was a big part of my childhood so I had pretty high expectations. I would say that Kreme and Kone lived up to the hype for sure. When stuck with the quandary of where to go for dinner with a family of five, the easy answer is an order-at-the-counter restaurant that is no frills and has a local vibe. We ordered at the counter, selected seating, and waited briefly for our orders to be up/our numbers to be called so we could retrieve the yumminess. Not a huge fried food or even seafood person for that matter I must say that I was impressed with the light batter/breading enveloping the seafood. Also, the seafood tasted fresh and not frozen which is important. The size of our meal was gargantuan--we ordered the Captain's Seafood Platter for two and let me tell you there was probably enough seafood to feed four people. We took nearly half of it home so be enjoyed the next day (after being heated up in the oven). I was glad there were options for kids, picky eaters, and non-seafood lovers as well. We did not try the ice cream but I was delighted they serve frappes there.for those of you that didn't grow up in NE a frappe is a milkshake made with ice cream . Yes, what most of you probably refer as a "milkshake". It's ok that you're doing it wrong, you are just not in-the-know and society is to blame. Also, while I am on my soap box, please don't call ice cream sprinkles "sprinkles", they are "jimmies. Delicious! I had a hankering for fried clams and this place was one of the only ones open in October. I will say it again: delicious! Ordered a two combos: one with clam bellies and one with fried clam strips, along with orders of onion rings and fries. I'd recommend the onion rings over the fries only because the onion rings are thin and crispy, which is harder to find. The coleslaw is decent as well. Cream based, but not soggy. Well done. Ordered and ate in the restaurant, but the to-go packaging is handy for a quick take out on a run to the beach. The restaurant atmosphere is more fast food than casual dining, but it certainly hit the nail on the head for my hankering. Not cheap, but worth it. read more
