Came here 30 minutes before closing on Friday and drove quite far to get here with a friend only to find out that they already have locked the doors and people outside were pissed! They clearly weren't closed and they clearly still had tons of donuts - there were people on line inside and donuts constantly being freshly made. I'm sorry but when you say you close at 11 PM, you don't lock your doors until then! TRAIN YOUR STAFF!! I haven't been this disappointed in a very long time - seriously.. when you haven't even been opened for a week?! These reviews are funny. I came here at a time where there would be no line and no wait...in the morning, when you would normally eat donuts. I had Krispy Kreme one time a looooooooong time ago, so no bias from yours truly. I got the glazed, because that sounded like the right thing to do...taste the base if you will...and then I got the chocolate glazed. The whole process took about 15 minutes. They got me my mocha, and after waiting for 8 more minutes, I overheard the manager, while looking at the screen, tell an employee, "Brian was taken care of." That's when I took a HUGE step forward and said, "No?" Then they asked me what I ordered, I answered, lady turns around, grabs the two donuts and hands them to me. That should have happened about a week agooooooo. The donuts were alright. I get it...they're light and airy...it's cute. But when I looked at my options, I was expecting some...more...options. Not your hipster artisanal pumpkin spice cinnamon s'more glazed donut or anything...but, just more than vanilla frosted glaze. I love Krispy Kreme donuts. They are my favorite to have. There are so many good selection choices as well. Everytime I come to this Jersey City location, the donuts are always fresh and available. The staff is super quick in preparing your order and I have never had an issue. It is hard to narrow down my favorites, but I really enjoy the oreo cookies one and the glazed blueberry cake one. Stopped in to pick up some donuts to go after dinner last night. This was the second attempt because the first try on opening day didn't get accomplished because of the crazy line that was outside. Tonight it was not bad at all. Maybe a 10 minutes wait. Ordered 6 donuts and 2 coffees. I personally didn't care for the coffee there. It's too strong for my taste but that's ok cause I didn't come for the coffee anyway. The only thing is that when they handed me the box of donuts it was sticky from icing and I got it on my hands but whatever now I now to watch out next time. Anyway I didn't try the donuts until this morning but they were still delicious. I had a glazed and a chocolate iced kreme filled. Of course the glazed was the best just like I remembered. As a North Carolinian, I love Krispy Kreme. Their donuts are sweeter than the competitor. However, this particular Krispy Kreme is trash. They are overpriced. My jaw dropped seeing the extreme markup on their donuts. The first time I wanted to come here, I went about 15 minutes before closing time, and the doors were locked. The last time I was there, I overheard a lady who was sitting with her family eating donuts ask for a box for their leftovers, and was told that they weren't allowed to give away a box (YES, even to paying customers). They have a large variety of donuts, more than I've ever seen at any other Krispy Kreme. My strawberry glazed with sprinkles was sweet and fantastic. My original donut wasn't fresh. Haven't been to a Krispy Kreme in years! Lived in Pa where they closed. First time at this location Saturday and it got busy after we ordered! Long line. So worth the wait if you have to wait. I love that the hot light was on. There's a window inside so you can see the fresh donuts being made which is awesome! We ordered a half dozen and two iced lattes with almond milk. The lattes weren't bad. A little on the sweet side for me. I like that they have almond milk. The donuts though! While most Krispy Kreme's have sadly gone belly-up in New York, mainly because they were downright filthy, this Jersey City location is outright beautiful and kept spotlessly clean (even the restrooms). Having the "Hot Now" sign visible from my window will do terrible things for my waistline. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was a 15 minute line. Got their original glazed and sour cream cake. We were driving to Brownstone Diner for pancakes one morning when we passed the glorious Krispy Kreme sign in Jersey City and ever since then, I had this location high on my priority "to eat" list lol I love that you see the donut production first thing when you enter. If you weren't excited about eating donuts already, then that view definitely will. The ordering process is very streamlined - you place an order with the employee at the registers, pay, then move down to pick up your order. There is a beautiful display of donuts to help you make your decision making easier. We ordered a half-dozen donuts and 2 medium coffees. We tried the blueberry cake, cheesecake, oreo heart, raspberry jelly, and sea salt caramel. The cheesecake donut had a slight lemon taste, which was unexpected by not overwhelming. The oreo creme filling was well balanced and topped with crumbled oreo pieces, which made for a great crunchy bite. The blueberry cake donut was as delicious as eating a blueberry muffin and the raspberry jelly was classic and fluffy. My least favorite donut of the half-dozen was the sea salt caramel, which I found to be too salty and overly sweet. I think if the donut to filling ratio was increased, it would be a great donut. After watching the enticing advertisements of their promotional donuts flash on the menu screen repeatedly, I got up to order the apple fritter which was amazing. It was like a cinnamon bun and apple pie made a baby. I couldn't get enough of the small pieces of baked apples on top. Only downside is that parking is hard to come by, but given the location, that is to be expected. When I first heard that there was going to be a KK in Jersey City I didn't believe my ears and as soon as I got to come here and see it for my own eyes... I was finally a believer! On my first trip here I left with a dozen glazed and another dozen filled with all sorts of assortments but no matter what the glazed doughnut has my heart. On my second trip I spotted playing games and left with two dozen glazed and a dozen assorted. This location was super clean and the staff was really pleasant. Anyone that loves Donuts love Krispy Kreme donuts and I am no exception. I love the fact that you can see the donuts coming out the machine which makes it a cool trip for kids. This location has really helpful staff and everything is always fresh. My all-time favorite donut is the glazed donut, but I live for their jelly donut also. I never go to Krispy Kreme even though there are locations near my work. However, this location is great since they have the factory where you get to see the machine that makes the doughnuts. You see the doughnuts being fried and glazed which was cool since they do it in large batches. The place does get crowded though. I ordered a lemon cream filled glaze doughnut and it wasn't too sweet since the lemon was tangy. Their doughnuts are better than Dunkin Donuts or other chain bakeries. It's all up to the individuals taste. Now the store first of all when you go inside the music they are playing not only bad but very loud on top of all the employees working and talking taking orders. Next is the pricing of the donuts. A dozen original glazed is 14.49 a dozen classic assorted is 16.49. The pricing is a little confusing because I noticed my bill was 18.49 and all I can think of is that it was because I also picked two cake batter donuts. You should at least be told that a particular donut is not included in that and the charge will be more. I have the receipt to show this. Not happy at all with this. I guess many people don't pay attention to their bill. The menu should be clear on the prices. So at those prices I rather go to the local bakery. You can even buy a great cake for just about the same cost. The parking lot is a joke. They have so many lanes closed in anticipation of a large crowd making it a job if your not going to go to the drive up window and just want to go into the store. when you finally get to the store they have three rows of parking spaces block so you have to park a distance away and what's worst is you cannot access the handicap parking spaces either. That whole parking and drive thru needs to be improved. As for me I'm staying away till that gets better and I can park in front of the store. Finally got to the visit the new Krispy Kreme that recently opened in Downtown Jersey City. Was excited to try it after the hype about it and the fresh doughnuts it makes on site. Decided to grab a box of dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts (~$12) to give as a gift before visiting a friend, and also got a Chocolate Frosted and Strawberry Frosted doughnut on the side to try for me and my family. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the doughnuts at Krispy Kreme, but think it could just be my taste, given that my family members liked it. I've also had a glazed Krispy Kreme at a different location and didn't like it either, but thought if i got it with a topping, that I might like it better. If you've never been, would recommend trying for yourself as many of my family and friends like it. If I go back, I think I'll try their drinks, including the hot chocolate which I hear is good. Coming here made me feel like a kid again. I grew up in a region where Krispy Kreme shops were plentiful and the majority of people were over weight. Directly related? Never proven... After moving to NJ, I noticed that there really weren't any Krispy Kreme shops around. Sure, they sell it at the grocery market, but those aren't even close to the same thing. There's really one way to go with Krispy Kreme: get the regular glazed when the sign is lit. All other options are irrelevant in comparison. So one lazy Saturday, I came and watched the dough get formed, fried, glazed, then finally sent down the belt to the register. Ordered one as just one is enough to make a memory last. First bite, boom! I remembered again why there are people that will argue for yeast versus cake donuts until their dying breath. I'm happy to see that the hype has since died down, but I may be a little biased; especially as they're a chain establishment, I've never quite understood that outpouring of love that Krispy Kreme has gotten from some. A little background: this location of Krispy Kreme opened in early February to a great amount of anticipation. It's ideally situated just outside the Grove Street PATH station, making it perfect for the pre or post-work stop, and the interior has a number of seating options, as well as a view of the assembly line where batches of their signature glazed donuts are freshly made each day. The crowds have since waned from the previous month, but on the early evening in mid-February that I went, the end of the line was just past the entrance and wound through the perimeter of the interior. End to end, it took a solid 30 minutes from getting in line to finally getting my order, but the ordering was fairly efficient and within a minute, my name was called out and I had my box of donuts in hand. Of the three varieties I tried, I think the simple Original Glazed is my favorite. There's something that's just foolproof with the thin, even sugar glaze and the slightly fluffy and toothsome dough. I appreciated the Blueberry Cake Glazed as well, although it veered a little too sweet for me, and the dough used is a thicker, heavier filling more similar to a cake than a yeast donut. For those who prefer custard-filled donuts, the New York Cheesecake is a good bet, with a graham cracker topping, a cheesecake filling, and a light cream cheese icing. It was, again, a little too sweet and heavy for my taste, but that's just my bias. Maybe I'm just not much of a donut person to begin with, but I'm not particularly inclined to return. However, they are open fairly late at night and early in the morning, so if a random craving should strike... well, it's good that they're there. read more

This new addition to the downtown JC neighborhood is rather welcomed. Be aware, that if you are driving to this location, there is not much parking. You'll have to find on street parking, or you can park in a lot. The way they have set it up so that you can watch the doughnuts being made it a really great feature, especially if you have kids. Regarding kids, they also have little Krispy Kreme hats that they can wear, which are set up on each of the tables. I purchased a dozen. 6 original glazed, and 6 assorted. I only had one glazed, but it was far better than most doughnuts, but did not beat out my favorite doughnut place Dough (the reason for 4 stars). The other 11 doughnuts I brought to my physical therapy place, and everyone absolutely raved. Be sure to go when the Krispy Kreme "Red Light" is on, and get yourself an original glazed. When the red light is on, that means they just came out, and are quite warm and delicious. One note is that they seem to be quite a bit sweeter than they used to be, but I could be mistaken - as it has been many, many years since I last had Krispy Kreme. If you know you are going to frequent Krispy Kreme, it may be worth while for you to download their app, and rack up rewards as well. The lines at this KK perplex me, I didn't know there was such a large donut demand in downtown JC. The lines are a turn off so I've knocked off one star. Besides that these donuts are divine. I think donuts should be simple, sweet, and satisfying. I find KK's original glazed is the best... definitely one of my favorite donuts.
