I cam here when it was opening weekend and boy, was that a mistake. Line out the door for just Krispy Kreme. I've never had Krispy Kreme before, but I've had plenty of donuts. I keep hearing about how amazing Krispy Kreme so I knew when one opened up 7 minutes walking distance from me, I had to try it out. They controlled the line pretty well. They could only let a certain number of people inside, due to fire hazard code, so they'll let in 30-40 at a time, but those people have to get their food first before they let in the next 30-40. I like how you can see the "Behind the Scenes" making of the donuts. It's nice to watch and it gives you something to do awhile you're in line. Once we ordered, we were given our donuts immediately. I got half a dozen: two glazed, one blueberry glazed, one maple glazed, one original and one chocolate covered donut. The original was good, but not as amazing as I thought it would be, probably because it's been sitting around for a few hours and not straight out of the oven. Blueberry was my favorite of the bunch, One thing that annoyed me though is that they started handing out free donuts to the line outside right as we got inside. So let me preface this by saying that I hold Krispy Kreme donuts near and dear to my heart. Ever since I was a kid and people sold these things by the dozens for fundraising and since I realized Krispy Kreme donuts were way better hot, I've always favored these... sometimes even over the super "gourmet" donuts that are now a huge fad in every major city. I had no parking issues, mostly because I literally just walked across the street from a friend's place. If you're in walking distance, easy peasy lemon squeezy. Be aware, there will likely be a line. My friend that lives nearby says that it is sometimes out the door. In my case, there was a snaking line inside with people hovering over other people to get a glimse at the donut making magic behind the window. Yes, I snapchatted that too. It's kind of cool to watch and be mesmerized and takes away from the pain of waiting in line... though it goes by fairly quickly. It also makes you think how unhealthy what you're about to eat really is... but if you're in there getting donuts you're probably not trying to be healthy anyways. I picked up a half dozen which cost me a little over 7 dollars. The hot sign wasn't on, but given the fact that I just saw hot glazed donuts being made, I asked cashier if they were available in which she said yes. Great - then I get home and my glazed donuts are cold AF... nowhere near hot - big thumbs down for me. The other ones I got were the chocolate "kreme" filled and the custard filled (aka Boston Creme).. these were obviously not as fresh either but tasted just as they should. If you're in the area and not having to park and have a severe sweets craving, this is your place. However, be ready to stand in line for 10-15 minutes. Parking is horrible here as are many downtown areas . However it's corner location makes this place particularly difficult to find a spot or even double park. I watched serval cars get ticketed so just keep that in mind , maybe walk or uber if stopping here . If u must drive have someone in the car to wait/ drive around. I went on one of the first Saturdays open and it was super crowded , staff was still efficient and fast past despite the large crowd however , won't be returning until after this phase dies down because the wait was actually really long. Waiting on line for food is not new to me; I've queued up for a cronut twice. The wait for these donuts took as long as it takes to play Bruno Mars' Locked out of heaven 7-8 times at around 7:30 pm. Sorry, y'all, I hate to disappoint you but this Krispy Kreme is just okay. I went on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm and was disappointed to see that the donut factory had no donuts! There were plenty behind the counter and on display, but the machine looked like it was going through a cleaning. Shouldn't that be done before the store opens? I got a box of 1/2 dozen and customer service seemed okay. Poor lady behind the counter just seemed really tired from all of the customers but was friendly enough. I was sad that the donuts weren't warm. What's better than a nice warm donut?? The only donut that made me go mmmmm! was the lemon filled one. All the others were just okay. A lot of other folks are disappointed by Krispy Kreme too but for the love of donuts, I'll cut the store slack. They have a glass display inside the kitchen and you can see how the donuts are made. I believe it is more fun for kids to watch. Honestly I dont find any difference in the donuts from here and from dunkin donuts. May be because I always go for a chocolate glazed donut from Krispy Kreme. Being from the south, I can appreciate Krispy Kreme over Dunkin Donuts any day! The location is KEY here! This site will do very well, if they can manage to fix the line issue. They problem is, too many people accumulate in the corner while waiting for their orders to be finished but the corner is also where tables of people are eating. The glass preview area before you order is awesome, and you can take pics of donuts being made before ordering. There are a lot of staff, which is certainly needed. There are few tables in relation to the amount of business they are doing, especially on the weekends. Parking doesn't exist, so people try to park illegally on the street corner in front of the building, thus blocking the flow of traffic. It will be nice to see some cops writing tickets out there until people realize they cannot be a jerk and block traffic. The space is very clean inside, and the selections seem limitless. This was my first time having Krispy kreme and it did not disappoint. Unfortunately the red light wasn't on at the time I went but the donuts were still pretty good. I got the famous original glazed ($1.19) and it was amazing - light, fluffy, and chewy. It felt like I was eating a cloud. I'm not usually a fan of yeast donuts but these might have converted me. My first Krispy Kreme experience and it was fantastic. I stumbled on this location on a Saturday morning walking around. I had absolutely no idea this place was here. Walking in you see a small conveyer belt where you can watch the donuts being made which was cool. The space is bright and spacious. On the tables are little paper hats that say Krispy Kreme, that was pretty cute. There are your regular tables as well as stools on the side. Plenty of room to sit. I ordered a NY cheesecake donut, it was absolutely amazing. My iced caramel coffee was actually really hot, even mixing it around with the ice it was still lukewarm and super sweet. I didn't add anything to it at all. They also had the soccer game on the TV so a handful of us definitely stayed a few minutes longer than we normally would.
