Eddie, our server was friendly, with just the right amount of humor and very attentive. He described dishes and offered a hot sauce that was HOT! The Shrimp Bourbon Street was tasty, lots 'o shrimp, yummy dipping sauce, a perfect combo with Seafood Gumbo, to finish off my meal. The Seafood Bisque-appetizer and the Shrimp and Grits meal seemed to satisfy my husband. Our friends ordered Crawfish Etouffee and the Cajun Jambalaya, which were a hit. We commented that there might be some take-home, but it was not to be, the food was consumed on the premises. Our finishing touch of Beignets covered in the powdered sugar and coulis sauce was the perfect finale to our very enjoyable meal. We ate in the dining room, which was busy, but not noisy, and as mentioned , the service was excellent (Eddie) , and patio seating is available. Parking is convenient, so there is every reason to visit Bud's as soon as possible. See ya soon!

It was cold and hard. I barely ate any before I called it quits. For my main, I got the shrimp and grits. The flavor was absolutely amazing but why did it come lukewarm? The grits were a tepid temperature. At least the shrimps came hot. Then for dessert, I ended with beignets and these were so hard. At least the service was really good.

We were able to get a parking spot right out front and got a table right away. They have a nice menu with traditional Cajon dishes. They also have good happy hour items (not available that day due to pride parade). We ordered a triple D special - the portion is big! It came with a roasted beef sandwich, jambalaya and fries (we got sweet potato fries and they were so good with brown sugar). We also ordered their wings with Cajun rub - they were so flavorful even without any dipping sauce - but parm garlic sauce was really good). We also got mac n cheese with NOLA roasted beef and fried cheese curds...Soo good! My least favorite was gumbo but still good though. Overall, my experience has been great. The waitress was friendly. I'd come back soon.

Clearly a very good dude -Didn't bat an eye at us having a baby with us. They have high chairs! It's so hard sometimes to tell what restaurants will be kind/accommodating to a baby so this was appreciated. -My gumbo with fried catfish was really delicious, flavorful, and a massive portion Cons: -Restaurant is looking a bit run down. My chair had a completely busted seat -My wife's hot chicken po'boy with fries was pretty terrible. Basically an unseasoned breaded chicken filet just drowned in hot sauce so it wasn't flavorful so much as just spicy, and the fries were ridiculously undercooked. She said it was one of the worst things she's had out in recent memory. :/ I'd recommend this place for CJ, the jambalaya and gumbo! But maybe stay away from the fries and sandwiches.

The Cajun fries are my absolute favorite, they stay crispy and don't get soggy over time, and the flavor is amazing. I placed my order through the ChowNow platform and arrived to pick it up, only to find out that the restaurant staff was completely unaware the order had been received. Because the order was never sent to the kitchen, I had to wait additional time while it was prepared. The bigger issue was the food itself. I ordered Combo 3, which states it includes 1 lb of clams, but there were very few clams in the bag--certainly nowhere near what I expected. In addition, there were no sausages at all and only 1-2 small potatoes included. Mistakes happen, but between the ordering issue and the missing ingredients, the meal did not match what was advertised. I hope the restaurant improves both its order management process and quality control.

We came on a weeknight in January and easily found parking out front. The restaurant is more of a bungalow, and it's quiet and really pretty on the outside. There is a door on the left of the stairs that leads to a small, old timey dining room, and it's going to be weird...I'll warn you about that. When you open the door, it feels like you just walked in on someone's private dinner party. It's super quiet in there and it's just a bunch of tables. No host/hostess. You seat yourself if there's a table. A server comes in and out of the room to serve the tables. The Mac and cheese was meh, we ordered it for a toddler. The crawfish étouffée was so good, they did not skimp on crawfish. I like it a little spicier, but this was what I needed. I would definitely come back here! If it's a cold night, dress accordingly, this bungalow is not insulated and the server comes in and out, so it was freezing. Can't imagine the heat in summer, but the food is worth it.

The picky eaters ordered Mac and cheese with andouille sausage and we got both sizes: petite and regular. You can tell it was made from scratch and it was very cheese and runny. We got the dark roux gumbo with shrimp, chicken and sausage. The flavor was on point; however I wish it was more of the holy trinity and that the sausage was cut in medallions vs pieces. Our waiter was so helpful and patient and since we paid in cash the 4% surcharge for credit cards wasn't charged. I recommend!

As for the food, I had the B combo, which was the crab, shrimp, and crawfish with the juicy sauce on medium heat. I'll have to get it more spicy next time, but I can't really complain about anything. Good texture on the shrimp and crab. I found the umami of the crawfish to be a tad underwhelming, but for this value, you can't really do much better than this. I also like that they immediately gave me a cracker, scissors, a bib, gloves, extra napkins, and bucket for trash. It should be the bare minimum, but I've seen seafood boil places either forget to give these tools often or straight up not offer them until you ask for it. I kinda like the vibe of the place also.

It's too damn good to not go back to.

I tried this place this past weekend at Del Mar's Taste of New Orleans festival and they were there operating under the name The Gumbo Pot. I saw they had a line and they were one of the more moderately priced food options so I gave it a try. I should've KNOWN it was going to be all bad when I asked for some Tony Cacheres and the girl behind the counter (I'm assuming is the daughter) said "I don't know what that is" and the older lady behind the counter (who I'm assuming is the mother) pointed at some packets of Crystal and Louisiana hot sauce like that was supposed to be a good consolation or something. If you have to add hot sauce to it then it ain't cooked right. Anyways, I ordered the 3 item plate with jambalaya, shrimp étouffée, and gumbo for $20, and let me say this is the MOST disgusting gumbo and étouffée I have EVER had in my life. The jambalaya was the only thing I could force down. The gumbo LITERALLY tasted like canned soup and the roux was a little light-skinned (if you know you know) and runny and watery. Then they didn't cook the okra right because it was slimy. There was no kick to it (gumbo is supposed to have hella flavor) and it was super bland. Just inedible. Don't let me get on that unflavored mash-up they called étouffée. Although the shrimp were a nice size, but they were rubbery and they had a fishy taste to them, which means they weren't fresh and again, NO flavor. The ONLY thing I could force down was the jambalaya and even that was too runny for jambalaya. It had nice chunks of chicken and sausage, but no flavor. I don't know how you can call yourself cooking Creole food and it's all bland and flavorless. I don't usually do this, but I took the uneaten étouffée and gumbo back for a 50% refund. I should've asked for ALL of my money back. The ONLY commonality between all of these things is NO flavor! The people in line thinking this inedible crap is good and authentic Creole food have obviously never been to Louisiana nor eaten food cooked by people from Louisiana. UPDATE TO RICHARD T.'S RESPONSE: Apparently you can't read because I SPECIFICALLY said "I tried this place this past weekend at Del Mar's Taste of New Orleans festival and they were there operating under the name The Gumbo Pot." Too Clearly you can't read OR cook. Vendetta for what? I don't know you but what I do KNOW is you were coming with feminine argumentative energy you displayed at the event. I could tell EXACTLY who you were when another customer was telling you what they wanted and you told your daughter "Don't let the customer tell you what they want, you tell them what they want." If you had so much to say why didn't you say it when I came to return that slop? You knew better. You're lucky I just didn't dispute the entire transaction with my credit card company instead of being nice and making your wife only give me back $10. You don't get to dictate HOW I spend my money sir nor do you get to tell me I should just let you take my money by thinking I should pay for something that I'm just going to throw in the trash. I knew I should've listened to dude at the BBQ booth when he told me not to eat here. Keep lying though saying I ate half the food (I took a pic for my records because I could tell by your energy and KNEW you would come on here and lie once you got your manties in a bunch about the review) you'll find yourself in court for libel. Nobody was trying to get a free meal hence why I brought that dog food back to you guys. Nobody cares how long you've been in business. I know people that have been rappin' for 30 years and ain't good so that means NOTHING! Then you go on to say that "a black woman trying to criticize and belittle a black owned business makes it even more shameful and disgraceful. Uplift, support and positive are obviously not words in this person's vocabulary, and definitely not values that were ever passed to her. Do better!" Maybe YOU should do better and learn how to cook. Just because Big Mama knew how to cook and maybe you watched her in the kitchen when you were a kid doesn't mean you know how to cook. That's the problem with so-called Black businesses (FYI it's technically not even a Black business because your wife isn't even Black by the way.) They think they should get a pass for bad service and bad food and then play victim. Just accept it and stop trying to pull the race card. It's a pathetic defense to your disgusting subpar food. READ YOUR REVIEWS! PLENTY OF PEOPLE SAID YOUR FOOD IS BLAND AND NOT GOOD! It's not just me. Being "Black" has nothing to do with anything and it's sad that YOUR parents didn't teach you how to accept responsibility and take criticism instead of trying to pull the race card. It's really sad for a senior citizen to act like this because somebody gave an honest review of your bland gross food.
