This review is for the Kroger Pharmacy. First, I use to work for Kroger Pharmacy for 3 years as a technician, although not for this particular location. I had broken my finger playing flag football and had an xray done that showed a clear break on my ring finger. My doctor gave me a prescription for Lortabs 10-325 mg. Being a pharmacy tech myself, I knew the unspoken policy of having a tech show and ask the pharmacist if they want to fill it because Lortabs 10-325 mg are highly abusable and part of the opiod epidemic. After I given my prescription to the tech, she went directly to the pharmacist. I knew at this point I was already painted as a "druggie", the pharmacist right away said " We don't have any", which is absolutely bullsh*t because 1) I see it behind him on the shelf 2) He didn't even check the system to check the count in inventory. So I guess I should suffer in pain while you get it right? Or "We don't have any" is just a convenient way for them to tell me to go away. I'm 100% sure its the latter. One way to see if someone is a "druggie" or not is to search their pharmacy history and see if there is a trend of only getting painkillers, I clearly have filled with Kroger Pharmacy before and I range from antiobiotics to flu meds and steroids for swollen joints (again, from flag football), but the pharmacist didn't bother to even check my profile. The worse part of this situation, was that this particularly pharmacist was a floating pharmacist and I even worked with him behind the counter before. I'm positive he's got his own agenda of not filling controls when he's working. Its not part of company policy and its not from a nefarious intent, its just that he would be held responsible for these scripts. While that's all fine and dandy, however someone like myself who just broke his finger, NEEDS pain meds. I went to CVS down the road who I never filled with, and they got me some Lortabs just fine. I'm not an abuser, however I was definitely painted as one at this pharmacy. As being a pharmacy tech before, I smelled his bullsh*t from a mile away. Time and time again a bad experience. They do not rotate their product..... Many expired items on the shelves. Produce is often has gnats flying around produce that is well past it's prime. Items frequently out of stock. Restroom is often closed for long periods of time. There are a few nice employees, but not many. I like this Kroger. However, it's not a pretentious watch us throw glitter at you and hypnotize you with our layout (cough HEB cough) kinda place. I may not be here as often as I should, but it certainly tends to have things that HEB doesn't, which is kinda odd, but apparently from what I heard certain stores only take certain food items, think of it like a grocery copyright. (I get to sell this Stouffer's dish. You sell the other one.) And yes, their loyalty rewards keep me coming back. For me the spectacular thing is Thanksgiving/Christmas shopping. It happens every year, but even after going to the HEB's for American based Thanksgiving recipes or Christmas dinners I undoubtedly will always find what I need here. (When my mom is making home made tamales we look elsewhere.) I like Thanksgiving and like the fact that it can keep up with the things I need, even though you have crazy busy places like HEB and it isn't a showstopper in terms of looks. Other good benefits- this is the Kroger I use to renew my car registration, get odd food items/trinkets, and this is the Kroger I like to use for bakery cake purposes. The chocolate mousse cakes and all the other fancy pretty ones are delicious. I've noticed over the years that even HEB started copying some of their chocolate based display cakes, because the Kroger ones are that good. And if you're not going to go to Fiesta or other legit places for Tres Leches, this is probably the best place to get it from an American based retailer. They obviously have a niche clientele, not sure what about me they like, but I keep coming back. Give this place a try during Thanksgiving if the HEBs are too crowded. Oh. Hello? Not a happy shopper here. I've never seen these many deficiencies at a Kroger store every time I shop here. Last Friday, I rushed out of meat departments after seeing those grossed sceneries. Why don't they put meat in the refrigerator? Yuk. Oh, data signal is really bad around here too. In order to read my shopping list on the Kroger app, I have to get to the front of store. No sure if they forgot to stock bottled waters or people mobbed the store before tropical depression Cindy. Not just missing water, but also strawberries and blueberries. This store looks pathetic. Pa-the-tic. I used to think this Sweetwater store was pretty good few years ago when I first discovered it. Then, it has been going downhill. The homeless shopping carts in the parking lot reminded me Westheimer Kroger's Store. This Kroger is in my neighborhood and I will drive out of the way from now on to do my shopping elsewhere. Many items on the shelf including meat department had items beyond expiration date. If you shop here, check the date on every item you put into your cart. The floral department has flowers on display/sale that should have been pulled out days ago. The restroom was disgusting...I won't go into details, but it has been neglected for a while, not just a bad day. Went to the courtesy booth to speak to a manager and no one was there, waited 10 minutes, still no one. Get it together Kroger! read more

The night manager Andre was very helpful, my brother had to bring a calendar for school and of course waited till 10:45 to tell me.(15 mins before close) I was having trouble finding the calendars and the time was already 10:55 so I called them and said I'm in the store and I need a calendar. Not only did Andre give me easy to understand instructions as to where they were located he also met me halfway there and walked me there himself. I've been a customer here for 15 years and it got better at first and now in past 5 years going downhill. The quality of the groceries and selection are good, but the staffing is horrible. I totally agree with Angel F.! The Kroger team here is super friendly. The store is always clean and everything is pretty easy to find. I love that they have an indoor redbox machine which makes it so convenient when returning or renting a movie. The deli section is perfect to grab a quick lunch. There's also a starbucks inside. The lady that works at the floral department is always so helpful when it comes to picking out anything from birthday flowers to a house warming plant. Parking can somethings be a pain but only during peak hours like...after work. I know grocery stores are all the same... but I really like this one for their great customer service :) read more

It's 24 hours and very close to my parents' crib, so it's perfect for when I hang with the parents' and need to make a quick run to forage some vegan-suitable treats for myself (mainly Amy's Kitchen goodies). Like most (if not all) Krogers, this one has a three or so aisles dedicated to organic/vegetarian/non-GMO prepackaged food brands. Occasionally, I'll stumble across some great sales or clearance items and I'll stock up because I'm not the biggest fan of constantly paying Whole Food-prices for some of my staples. Oh what's that? A Starbucks within the store? All the better to caffeinate myself with! I realize that Kroger isn't faring so well with HEBs and Walmarts popping up everywhere and one of the other Kroger in Sugar Land recently went out of business, but I appreciate the "variety" in options and the convenience of this one can't be beat. read more

Fed up after 20 years of shopping here. Over the past 5-7 years this store has changed management several times and has gone VERY downhill. The staff are very rude, especially the deli department, who acts like you are interrupting them to place an order. Yesterday I placed an order to try the online pickup scheduled for 10:00 AM today. I arrived at 9:59, and pulled into the slot. I called the number on the sign in front of me as instructed. The girl who answered asked me to repeat my name 5 times (because she was talking to coworkers and not listening) and I spelled it for her 3 times (again she was not listening). She then said "you don't have an order here." I laughed and told her that the store had texted me 30 minutes prior to remind me of my order. She then asked me to spell my name for the 4th time and found the order. Yay! Her next words were "your order isn't ready." I said ok and asked her how long it would be. Her response "I don't know." That's helpful. So I asked her if a manager was available and she said no. I asked if anyone who might be able to give me information was available and she put me on hold so long that it re-rang back to her and she said "hello what's your name" again. I told her I was waiting to talk to a manager or someone. She said an assistant manager would talk to me. The assistant manager got on the phone and greeted me with "I called and left you a message," in a very rude manner. I was so taken aback that I looked at my phone and saw a message had been left 17 minutes prior to pick up time. So, I told her that I was already driving by then. Her tone was rude to me the entire time we spoke. She then informed that she would call me when it was ready to be picked up but she couldn't tell me when that would be. I told her that I was currently handicapped due to an injury and had other appointments. Before I could finish my sentence she said "fine, we will just cancel your order," and HUNG UP on me!!! I was SO upset that I hauled myself into the store in the pouring rain and asked for a store manager. I told him that he needed to know how his employees were talking to customers and reiterated the above. He told me that there was nothing they could do about my order being delayed. I asked him if he could have it delivered through the delivery service. "No, because that is not a store-owned system. I asked him if I had any other options other than to shop elsewhere. He didn't have any answer and looked uncomfortable. He then said he would go see how long my order would take. I reminded him that they told me they were canceling my order and he said,"no we don't do that". Ten minutes later, he came back to tell me that the order was canceled and the (teens) working back there told him that I had canceled it! I was so stunned. Also, over past 2 months when I shopped inside the store, very few employees had masks on and most of them wore them hanging from their neck, not pulled up over mouth or nose. This was evident today as well, which is the first day of mandated mask wearing in Fort Bend. I pointed two employees out to the manager today not wearing masks near us and told him his store was now also breaking the law. This store used to be the "premiere" market in Sugar Land. It is now poorly run, employees are poorly trained, produce is put out rotting, there is no accountability, etc. read more

I've been coming to this Kroger for over a decade now. There's usually a good and fresh selection of items, but sale items do get snapped up quickly. And I have unfortunately had several encounters with snarky service people at the customer service desk. The prices (without sales or coupons) are slightly higher than HEB, but they do carry different brands and products that I sometimes cannot get at HEB. But overall I still prefer HEB because of the prices. Example: the Horizon organic 2% lactose free milk is $1.00 cheaper at HEB. The fuel points for Shell gas are a nice perk to shopping at Kroger. And the Starbucks inside is a nice place to grab your coffee when the drive through across the street is jammed! Worst pharmacy that I have ever dealt with. Their techs and pharmacists are rude and unhelpful. They will tell you a time that your medication will be ready and then send a text 5 minutes later saying it's ready with your total cost after insurance. When you call to question this they will say it was a mistake your medicine won't be ready until the original time given which is right before closing. How would the automated system know your out of pocket expense if the prescription hadn't been processed. They are just lazy and do not want to do their jobs and probably hope you won't make it in the short time frame before they close so you will be somebody else's problem the next day. My last month of going through this. They should be happy they still have jobs. As for myself I will be going elsewhere. If I'm spending my money it sure will not be paying for rude customer service. read more

Not the first Kroger store we've been to (the one on Highway 6 and Settlers Way was, which is now closed down and turned into a tile store, RIP Highway 6 Kroger). This Kroger store is more like the one that we grew up with, it's been at the Sweetwater Blvd a few streets away from Highway 59 for what seemed like ages. Growing up, this was the most convenient grocery store to the house we grew up in. Years later, my own family settled down fairly close by in Telfair, but we still enjoy shopping here. A few years ago, the store has gone through one of what I called deep cleaning, means they ripped up the old floors to put in new ones, rearranged sections and built new ones. I believe after this change, they are now a Kroger Signature store (I might be wrong, and they may have gotten this title years before?). It isn't quite the most convenient location for us to shop groceries, but still relatively easy by its close proximity to 59, which is still the way we took to get home from our daily commute. Call us old fashioned, we still enjoy shopping with coupons in hand when we swipe our store card as opposed to on an app or loaded in a virtual account. We shop here often enough to know where everything we need is, one thing that helped is the size of the store is small enough so one won't get lost, but large enough to carry all the essentials. We can usually navigate the store quickly enough to get what we needed and check out using either the register or the self-check outs kiosks. Kroger introduced a few years ago the Fuel Point system, which is earned by scanning your Kroger's Card when you shop, or with a Kroger's Credit Card. It's a $1 per point, and every 100 you earn, it's $0.10 cents off per gallon at a participating Shell Gas station or $0.20 cents off per gallon at a Kroger Gas Station. Would have found the fuel points more useful if this Kroger actually has a Gas Station (which, I think would have to be the Marketplace class type of store for that, again, I might be wrong on this), as we are Costco members as well, and Costco gas is almost always cheaper even with the fuel point discount. But, there are definitely more Shell gas stations than there are Costcos. If you are looking for gas in the middle of night, and Costco isn't open, at least the Shell Gas Station next to it is available the Fuel points help. Customer service isn't always on point here, my favorite memory was one night when I was shopping produce, and I asked an employee how much certain types of apples are (they weren't labeled), his great advise was for me to go to the cash register and just ring it up there to find the price, like I am some bozo. Others in the same situation would've probably headed back into the swinging doors to check the inventory system and come right back and tell me. I believe this guy still works in this store, and I've often wondered how did this guy still have a job here? The restrooms are usually kept pretty clean/tidy. We prefer to shop here for our every day groceries than HEB, only because that store is much bigger in comparison, and we may end up overshopping (impulse shopping of things we don't necessarily need) very often there. Plus, for some reason, certain produce are so much more expensive at HEB than Kroger, and of course, just happen to be on the ones we consume more than others. This store also has 2 Redbox Kiosks for convenient movie rental/returns and a Starbucks on the side to get your coffee fix. read more

This store serves as a great example of a 5 star grocery shopping experience with a closer look revealing it's many not-so-five-star aspects. Customer service can change from good to bad like night and day. The experience on a Sunday morning is completely different than that of a Thursday night. For a shopper, this drives us C R A Z Y. One day here it's in & out, with a smile on my face and some savings in my pocket. Another day it's impossible to find an employee who is not on their cell phone, and the two registers that are open have 8 angry shoppers a piece. Since moving to Texas last year, my wife and I debate on where to go for our monthly food purchasing adventure. I tend to enjoy the H-E-B excursion, while she enjoys the shopper loyalty benefits that Kroger has to offer (ol' Heb doesn't offer any benefits other than in store coupons). Each month we go back and forth between the two, with an occasional Whole Foods or Wal-Mart thrown in (indefinitely polar opposite examples, each with their own pros and cons, I'm sure you can imagine which has better prices and which has better quality). For the average shopper, you too will most likely have a similar monthly decision as ours. Hopefully this review narrows the decision making process! This entire store is a bit aged, as is every other Kroger in Houston. They have tried putting renovations in, but the store as a whole still feels 15+ years outdated. Until the Management gets this store figured out, we unfortunately will continue to bounce around stores each month like nomads wandering a unswept produce section (seriously though, there is always week old fruit/veggies all over the floors!). Delaney, a cashier rep from a 5/2016 visit, was super helpful despite what looked like a chaotic evening shift. However the rest of the Kroger Krew that night was textbook terrible. Give that girl a raise, or at least some better coworkers. I've heard they have a decent coffee shop within this store, Cometcash, or something like that. Ah, the handy dandy neighborhood grocery store. I've been shopping at this Kroger ever since my mom used to drag me with her as a kid. In recent years, I've been frequenting it myself. For the most part, it's never really let me down- however, there is the odd exception. Pros - Prices are reasonable, especially with the Kroger card. - They now carry the Simple Truth Organic brand. - Super sweet florist lady, who just last week helped me by placing my huge chosen vase of roses in a wrapped bucket, making it easier for me to handle in the rain, and thereby ensuring nothing leaks in the car. She deserves a star of her own! Cons - For some reason, they always seem to be out of the organic milk I need! - At least 2 of their 4 self-check machines seem to be down on a continuous basis. - If you attempt to ask an employee where an item is located, you may as well be speaking gibberish. Overall though, this place has never really let me down. Just beware of crazy packed parking, especially during the weekends and peak hours. read more

In Atlanta, you pretty much have 3 choices for groceries. There is a Kroger on almost every block, Publix is pretty common too, and WalMart Super Centers are usually near by. And that is pretty much it for major grocery store choices in the ATL. Consequently I have been shopping at Kroger for what seems like forever, and I was stunned when I moved to Houston and saw just how many grocery store chains there were in this town. H E B, Randalls, and Fiestas, oh my, dotted the landscape as far as the eye could see. And that doesn't even account for all the smaller local chains, Walmarts, Asian Markets and SuperTargets. Yes grocery competition is alive and well deep in the heart of Houston. Maybe that's why the Krogers in this town have to be the cleanest, nicest, most well stocked, and well laid out of their kind I have ever seen. This is Kroger done right, with lots of selection, friendly staff, and clean clean clean stores. You will also find excellence in the specialty sections of the stores here, which usually include a great florist, a good quality deli and bakery, and an above average meat department. And this Sugar Land location is one of the best of it's kind, lacking only a gas station to make it complete. And why is a gas station important? Why it's because you can get 10 cents off per gallon on their already competitive fuel prices, per $100 spent on groceries in the store. With an average of $200 spent per month between myself and my roommate that ends up being 20 cents a gallon off on at least one full tank of gas per month. Fortunately there is another Kroger location with a filling station not too terribly far from me on Westheimer where I can use my fuel points. To get the most out of Kroger it is imperative that you sign up for a Kroger Plus card and that you pay attention to their weekly sales. In the first place you have to have a Kroger Plus card to take advantage of the aforementioned fuel savings, and in the second you need it to qualify for many of the sales that Kroger runs. Additionally if you give them your home address they will eventually start sending you coupons that are based on your buying habits, really really good coupons. I mean like a free dozen eggs, or free can of tomato soup, or free half gallon of ice cream good. And those coupons can be combined with sales, and with manufacturer coupons as well. It's also important to check the sales paper as well since many of the sale items at Kroger will be the lowest price you will find in town. Now if money is no object, and you just want to shop at a really nice grocery store you can skip all of that stuff of course, but honestly, most of the work is done for you, and it is totally worth it in my opinion to put in a little effort to get extra value. So yes, there are lots of grocery shopping choices in Houston, but after looking over the competition, comparing their sales papers, and doing some selective shopping, I've found the local Kroger is still my favorite choice for value, selection, and shopping experience. read more

I refuse to spend money on potatoes full of eyes, cuts and bruises, and I check every time I go there, willing to spend extra for quality but alas none available. Dont get me started on the meat dept. The Butcher is older and rude, whenever I ask for a London Broil the reply is always the same, if it's not out there then we don't have it. I prefer a good dry aged beef but its not available here. They should not be able to call their so called French Loaf French at all, tastes nothing like the real deal. The pharmacy tech at kroger(I believe her name is Anna) is so incredibly rude. I asked her if she could do something and she said no. I asked to speak to the pharmacist and she said he was not there. I spoke to the assistant pharmacist and he happily filled my request! I don't know why she has such attitude! Obviously she needs to go, she should be kind, polite and accommodating since she is in customer service. I have previously reported her to the store manager, but nothing was done. The shopping experience at the Kroger's on Sweetwater in Sugar Land is well below HEB stores or other Kroger's in the surrounding area. Example #1: On a recent scheduled grocery pickup I had to wait in my car for over 1 hour in the designated parking spot. This wouldn't have been as bad if 7 other cars that arrived after me had not received their groceries before me. Example #2: On my next pickup I receive a phone message for Sweetwater Kroger's shortly before my scheduled grocery pickup stating they are running 2 hours behind schedule and that they would call me when order was ready for pickup. I finally received that follow-up phone call almost 6 hours later. When I brought up my concerns with the two manager on duty they looked like deer staring at headlights, completely confused. I'm sure what has happened at Sweetwater Kroger's. I believe you will have a much better experience at HEB and even other Kroger locations. Don't waste your time at Sweetwater Kroger's. read more

I went to this Kroger location today to buy flowers. I used the self checkout thinking it would be faster. It ended up being more of a hassle. The blonde lady (with the stick up her ass) working at the self checkout register was rude, impatient and unprofessional. TRUST ME, if those machines didn't prompt me to " please wait for an assistant" I WOULD NOT have asked that bitch to assist me...Never again will I go to this location. read more
