We loved our experience here. We are from the BayArea, where food is abundant and expectations are high. The food here is delicious. The TomGa soup was the best I've had. We got the fried catfish curry (amazing!), duck soup (aromatic and tasty), wonton soup, noodles and pineapple fried rice. It was all very tasty. Service was great too. A friend highly recommended Krua Thai Restaurant and after a visit to the Aquarium it was so amazing to come here for lunch, away from the tourists. Our waiter made the lunch even more fun by tempting us with Thai iced tea and Thai coffee (omg) and Mango sticky rice for dessert. This was after we feasted on our delicious meal. Delicious! In my experience there are bad Thai restaurants, "fine" Thai restaurants, and then really good ones like these. There are also truly gourmet ones, which this is not, but that is a-ok with me. My husband and I like to order pad thai with chicken and panang curry with chicken. The pad thai is a solid 4 stars - right amount of spice, slightly smaller portions than other Thai restaurants, but could definitely last for two dinners if you get an appetizer, too. The panang curry is particularly smooth and flavorful. Lots of fresh bell peppers and even baby corn, the most fun vegetable of all. Chicken is pounded thin and soaks up the sauce well. I prefer sticky rice (they ran out last time) but the regular white rice works, too. We dined in during COVID and the tables were a little too close together for my comfort. I understand they need the business, but I wish their neighbors on the block who do not do outdoor dining would let them encroach more. We'll be back regularly. read more

Absolutely LOVE Krua Thai! So many times my husband & I have eaten here for lunch, over the years! A great place to bring friends for dinner and/or order take-out. Tonight, I ordered the potstickers, Green Curry, Chow Mein with chicken and the pad Thai with Tofu. Everything is so yummy, and we seriously almost fight over the Green Curry! Service is always spectacular! We are locals and we love supporting our community. We are so thankful that Krua Thai makes that easy & delicious & comforting. Food was great. Service was great. When I got my bill it seemed very expensive so I reviewed it. I had ordered Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. I was happy to pay the extra $3 for shrimp which is what I was told it would be. But the restaurant added $6 to 2 entrees. Sodas are $4 each with no refills because they come in a can. AND the kicker- they added a 20% "service charge" on our ticket which was $24.93. I paid the bill, they kept itemized copy and brought me a slip with the total and room for gratuity. But NEVER mentioned that they had added a 20% service charge to my bill. The menu doesn't say anything about a service charge. I called later after thinking about the price all afternoon and the owner argued with me and said he would look for my ticket and call me back. I'm not holding my breath expecting him actually follow through with a call. Thinking about calling my credit card company to recoup the extra $30. I'm really disappointed because I actually liked the food. This place is a rip off and I will never go back. $163.42 for 5 people. And beware- if you have a party of 4 or more I guess their policy is to add the surcharge! I asked for the itemized slip before I left the restaurant just to make sure I wasn't crazy. read more

Was Looking forward to some tasty Thai food, but when I arrived as a single person the guy said NO, can't seat you and abruptly walked away. It was shocking how rude this man was. I suspect he was the owner and didn't see the profit in it since I was a single white male. Talk about discrimination!! I would be wary of this place as they are probably cutting corners on the food since they can't seat a single person, low profit margin on that. There were plenty of open tables. Later I called back and he got very nasty and cussed me out. Not very professional and I would imagine the food cant be all that great. Was he having a bad day, who knows, but he may want to take a class in customer service! I will be telling all our friends not to bother with this place. Good riddance! No hesitation at all in giving this place a perfect score. The food was amazing. We came looking for vegan options and there were plenty. The red curry, penang curry and massaman curry were absolutely delicious! The Singapore noodles had a unique flavour profile and were the best I've ever had. The service was impeccable. Inspite of the place being packed and a pretty long waiting queue, the attendants were polite and considerate. Also loved how they asked for spice level preference for every individual dish and got it right! Prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality of food and the quantity. I showed up a bit early for a pick up order(5inutes too early) I'm actually waiting for it now and the greeter seemed to be very upset t that I showed up early. We ordered fried bananas for dessert and on the menu it says it comes with coconut vanilla ice cream but the fried banana itself was loaded with shaved coconut. With all the empty tables, we were shown a table immediately adjacent to two nice young men, but putting our party only 3 feet from them. We asked the man to be seated further away at one of the other many empty tables to protect our unvaccinated children and he refused. We asked why not, and he said he couldn't move any tables together to accommodate us. He could easily have (they weren't nailed down). When we balked and said we were uncomfortable because of the surging Covid variant, he became irate and told us the pandemic was "out there" (not sure what that meant) and invited us to leave, which we were ready to do anyway. read more

Boyfriend & I came here for dinner on a Friday evening around 7pm. It was pretty busy as it looked like every table was filled. Surprisingly we got sat right away. We ordered 'Chicken PadSeeEw' ($10.95) & 'Duck Over Rice' ($11.95). Food took about 25 mins which wasn't too bad as it was a FULL restaurant. Both dishes were tasty! Highly recommend the 'Duck Over Rice'! Duck is served with NO bones, which is great if you don't wanna get your hands dirty. I've never seen duck served already cut up. I love that! The duck was so tender & flavorful. And the sauce it's cooked in was SO aromatic & delicious. Almost felt like we should've ordered 2 because it was THAT good. Service was great. There was 3 servers working which they all checked up on us. Overall, I love it. Great entrees, great service, & great prices for dinner. I got the Pad Thai, it was okay. I don't think it was worth the price because it lacked flavor and something else. I've got pad Thai from many other thai places and this pad thai unfortunately didn't live up to my expectation. But the main reason why I'm putting 2 stars is because the man there was kind of rude to us. Other wise, I'd give this 3 stars. His answers are abrupt, he doesn't seem patient with us at all when we ordered and other customers too. You can just tell from his voice and how he interacts with his customers that he's not respectful of his customers. It just seems like he doesn't care. All the servers were so kind and considerate, bringing lovely plastic plates and utensils for the littles. Making sure our food wasn't spicy to be shared with the kids. Our dinner here was one of the highlights of our day trip to Monterey and we are so happy we stopped by! *Singapore noodles- smash hit for my kids, and they're picky as can be. In fact they ate basically my whole plate and I was still hungry. :( It was delicious!! *Mango sticky rice dessert- excellent! I was visiting Monterrey and staying across the street at Casa Munras and decided to give this place a try. I am so glad I did because it was 1) convenient and 2) the food was delicious, not heavy or oily at all. My husband and I thought it was the healthiest take on Thai food, as we've tries a lot of Thai spots. The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious! Came in here one night for a quick dinner alone. The servers were polite and the place was relatively clean. The bathrooms located outside were downright nasty, so beware. I ordered the house salad and the red curry with chicken. The house salad had the weirdest peanut dressing I've ever tasted. It was basically blended peanuts with extra oil--very unappetizing. The red curry had crispy veggies and a decent amount of chicken. It was the curry that was lacking. It was very "one note". Not a lot of depth of flavor.
