My family and I have been eating at KT Noodle for over 10 years and will always be faithful KT fans. I order take out at least twice a month from them as well. Honestly this was the first PHO place that I had their house special combo bowl that I just couldnt finish. Which is quite a feat. As much as I tried to like this place I will have to give this a one star rating. They have a very extensive menu. Unfortunately it would be better if they focused on the dishes that they are actually good at than trying to be the jack of all trades. In this case, none of the dishes we ordered passed the taste test. Starting with the Banh Xeo, which is a Vietnamese crepe that normally has a vibrant yellow color from the tumeric and very crispy. The Banh xeo was pale, too thick, doughy and so soggy. I had to send it back to be recooked but it didn't really help. The pho was bland and there wasn't enough broth. Ran out of broth 1/4 into eating. We had the beef ball pho. We also ordered the pork chop salad, which was probably the most decent of all the dishes. The pork was tasty but did not have the traditional charbroiled flavor or any of the other flavors. Not sure if the Chinese dishes are any better but steer away from the ones I mentioned above. This place is truly a local gem. The price is incredible and the dishes are always great and come in a larger size. A must try here are: Veggie with tofu cooked in clay pot, deep fried fish topped with ginger, papaya salad and soup, soup, soup! The location is a bit hard to find. You blink and you may just miss it. It's in the same shopping complex as mountain mike pizza. The dishes comes out fast and again, the price are unbeatable. This place is great! It's so affordable and they give decent sized portions. The place looks old and dated from the outside, the inside isn't much better, but the staff is attentive and the food is quick. I absolutely love the bean curd with broccoli and cashews. When I discovered this place, I was honestly shocked. It is a very traditional Vietnamese joint with staff that barely speaks English LOL. But being that it is in Rocklin really surprised me! It really was more like a place that belonged in a higher Asian populated area! Their Pho is awesome (granted, not as many choices as a traditional place, but hey, again, it's in ROCKLIN!) Their prices are LOW and you can feed a whole family for under $20 and get LOADS of food. I don't travel to the "asian" areas very often, so to have KT Noodle so close to my house is wonderful! Some of the negative nancy yelpers need to realize that this is not a place out in South Sac where you truly have a large population of Asians! This is in ROCKLIN, a predominantly WHITE neighborhood! I like to eat authentic cuisine, and you know you're on the right track when your waiter speaks pigeon English, and thats being harsh to pigeons. The wait staff in flip flops is a nice touch. Anyway, it appears very obvious to me that as US residents we are being a little ripped off on Pho, i mean it's just clear soup right with stuff chucked in, but with that said this place is so cheap it's irrelevant. I decided to broaden my horizons with the help of my new waiter friend and my dish was outstanding. It was #54 and was enough for lunch and then some, all for an astonishing 5.75. We stumbled upon this place almost ten years ago when we first moved to the surrounding area. We were looking for a nearby place that offered decent Vietnamese food. Over the years we come back and visit once in a while when the cravings hit. Their #19 is a favorite of ours that we like to get every time. This is my favorite local restaurant. The food is great and two of us eat for under $15! The service is friendly and it's family run. Locals call it Area 51 because #51 is the bomb! Two charbroiled chicken breasts over a delicious cold noodle salad, plus two egg rolls for $5.35--and the bowl is big. The fried calamari is excellent. I love #19, charbroiled shaved pork over rice, and the presentation is lovely. Did someone say Pho? Gotta love it! Don't come here and order Chinese food (sweet and sour, lemon chicken)!!!! These are on the menu for those who don't know Vietnamese from Chinese. Stick with the viet dishes. Ask a customer or the wait staff for recommendations. Fresh ingredients and a good value. The food here is very good and very affordable for the price. Everything on the menu was under $10 and the portions were large! I had the Pho and there was no MSG and the broth tasted flavorful and fresh. The reason I give this restaurant two stars is for the service. We walked in on a Saturday and there was no one in the restaurant, the hostess did not act interested and was just walking around until eventually we asked if we could have a seat. Five minutes later a menu was brought over and five minutes after that two cups of water. My husband eventually got up and had to go grab the hostess to have her take our order. The food came out fast luckily and we waited for a good 30-40 minutes to see the girl so she could bring our check. She had been hiding in the bathroom for almost a half-hour. She said she was going to go get our check, yet we still waited. Finally a dishwasher in the back who had come out and was on break sighed in disbelief and grabbed one of the other cooks in the back to bring us our check. There was NO service here and we could have easily walked out without paying...we had to almost literally beg for someone to bring us our check so we could pay! The food here is generally pretty tasty and pretty inexpensive but the service is really bad. Really bad. They are a pretty popular place so it can get busy so I can tolerate a little slow service but they forgot one of our dishes and took awhile before they realized it. I've tried going back a few other times but the rudeness just makes it not worth it. But if you have better tolerance for bad service, the vermicelli is pretty good. The pho is okay, nothing special. When I first moved to Rocklin I was in desperate need to find a good Vietnamese place. I never thought I would be able to find one as good as any I went to growing up in San Francisco. Man was I wrong. Even though this place is a little hidden it is so worth it! Not super expensive either- no dish (at least of any I have had) is over 9/10 dollars! I've been here maybe three or four times since I originally found the place and have never been disappointed. If you love Vietnamese food I highly suggest trying out KT. Food is average to below average. I have to give them credit for opening to 9 PM on Christmas Eve. There were about 10 patrons there between 8:30p-9p, we just wanted some noodle soup before heading to our hotel and this was the only Vietnamese restaurant in the local area that was opened until 9pm. Meat was tough and seemed old. Maybe because it was toward closing. Broth didn't taste that great so I had to try to fix it up the best I could. Portion was really good for the price. Our party of 3 all agreed that this is not a place we would return to. Unfortunately, we left with lots of leftovers. I read reviews and decided to try the lemongrass chicken; however, was extremely disappointed. It tasted like soap. I also tried the 12A (Pho Special). I've tried many pho places and have to say that this is my last go-to place out of all of them. The broth was extremely bland with little flavor other than sweetness. They don't have very many ingredients that can be put in there either which doesn't help when trying to counteract the sweetness of their broth. We did get a good portion of meats in our bowls, but they're so small that we couldn't mix our pho properly without spilling everywhere. My husband is a big fried rice fan, but did not like his. There's too little flavor and he avoided all the cucumber slices, tomatoes slices, and the pile of lettuce on his plate. Our final dish was the appetizer platter. It was the most satisfying thing we ordered. We cleared the plate though it was not because it was extremely tasty, but it was the one thing that was the most edible and decent tasting thing on our table. The egg rolls were okay, but the fried calamari probably received the highest remarks out of everything we ate which is again...disappointing. read more

I was in the area for business purposes. Craving for some noodles soup so I found this place on yelp. I ordered the combination seafood noodles soup. The broth was delicious and has no msg taste. The shrimp and vegetable were fresh. I actually came back to this place the second time the next day and ordered spring rolls and eggs rolls. I was surprised by their small side. the peanut sauce for spring rolls was a little bit too sweet so I asked for fish sauce and it was good. Friendly service. KT is a bit of a departure from the Vietnamese joints I grew accustomed to in SF and San Jose, but different doesn't mean bad. Located in a strip mall in a very residential, almost suburban area, KT Noodle is a sight for sore eyes tired of chain restaurants and the like located not so far off (The Galleria, BJ's, etc.) The decor is interesting - vibrant red, sparkly, cushy booths along with tables and chairs, even a small counter. It's as though the place were a greasey spoon kind of diner in a previous life. Definitely mom and pop, family owned, and it has a personal/homey feel to it. The carpeted floor was clean, as was the bathroom. Decorations like Vietnamese trinkets and folding room dividers show the owners pride in their heritage. Went in this afternoon around 2pm, where I was one of two tables. The menu is pretty standard fare as far as Vietnamese cuisine goes. I opted for bun - number 54, charbroiled pork, shrimp, and egg rolls over rice noodles. A pretty large portion, lots of noodles, lots of pork. Two small shrimp - versus number 53 (sans shrimp) you get shrimp for just a quarter more. Twelve and a half cents per shrimp? Yea, maybe not. The bean sprouts were white and opaque, definitely fresh. The carrots weren't dry or limp, the lettuce wasn't discolored. Cilantro wasn't wilted or brown. Copious amount of pork. Everything was well executed, the flavors were good, though I found their nuoc cham to be a little weak. Not as fish saucy or limey as what I would prefer. Due to this, the dish on the whole needed a little pizazz which I added with a little chili sauce. The cha gio was a bit too wrappery, and the filling was just so so. I wouldn't order them on their own. By the time I left around 2:30, the place was half full. Equal mixture of Asians and Caucasians, big bowls of pho and rice dishes all around. People were tucking in hardcore. All told, I wasn't put off from the place at all. The staff was attentive, friendly, and the food came out quickly - not just at my table, but others I observed as well. I will absolutely go back and try more things as my pho or com dia cravings arise. read more

Based on the reviews I was expecting great food for a great price. The price was great alright (I've not seen cheaper) but the food quality is just bad and the cleanliness is just an accident waiting to happen. The beef was completely burnt and dry, the Thai ice tea had hard boba in it. We had asked for our food spicy the waiter came back and told us the kitchen forgot but we can make it spicy ourselves with the sauce. We ate a quarter of our dish and left worried of the aftermath. If you can afford paying a little more it will avoid you any chances of getting sick. read more

Four years later, still love this place. I've moved on from the chicken with rice noodles to the back page. Number 101 and Number 104, and 100-something. The chicken and shrimp skewers on rice was a mistaken order I made, but it was a fortuitous one, because it's quite tasty. The combination noodle plates, whether with chow fun, rice, or clear bean noodles are packed with chicken, pork, beef and shrimp with vegetables. Never leave me, KT Noodle.
