I decided on the chicken pho. I went with large and the size was more than I needed, but part of that is because there was an absolute abundance of meat. Normally you see more noodles than meat, but not here. The chicken was chunked white meat, no gristle. There was seemingly an entire cilantro and thai basil plant to garnish with, as well as onion, jalapeno, sprouts and hot sauce. The broth was good, but not great. There was some flavor component that was missing, but I couldn't place what it was. All in all, good value, generous servings, but just a little bit off the mark in flavor. This place already has well-established credit as a great dinning experience. I just have to add my comments. I've been going to K.T. Noodle for over 2 years, and I am absolutely in love with their curry chicken. It's not a spicy dish, but rather sweetish. I'd say this place is more of a mix of authentic Chinese & Vietnamese dishes. The service is friendly, and they pretty much run it as a family business. The kids are starting to take over it seems. I hope that someday they are able to expand their business because once I move out of the area. I will surely miss them. This was one of the first restaurants I discovered when I came to Rocklin and it's been my staple place ever since. Food here is tasty, fast and inexpensive. Although we're in Rocklin and you may question how great Pho can be here, this place will give you a run for your money. It taste just as good if not better than what you would find in the Bay Area. If you're a college student and you want something quick and cheap, this is the place to go. At $6-7 for a full meal with leftovers, you can't go wrong. Plus, the food is fresh and healthy. We usually like to order the fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce, bird's nest chef special (your Hong Kong style crispy noodle equivalent), vermicelli noodles - rice noodles with bean sprouts, carrots, cilantro with grilled pork. The tofu clay pot is amazing if you're going for a vegetarian dish. This place has got a lot of options. Fair warning, you are paying for good cheap food. Since I'm not from here I had to make sure I found a place that would give me afforable meals and taste good!!! I was buying food for a party of 20-25 people... After ordering food for everybody, I still had enough $ to buy drinks! Everybody enjoyed the combo pork/chicken plate with eggrolls, it can be with rice or noodles. Others enjoyed the pho and the meat & beef balls. When I went to pick up the food, they helped me load the bags of food in my car and gave me free ice coffee. Yum! We've been meaning to try KT for a while and finally made it tonight. Bummed we've been missing out this long. I had the charbroiled pork (#19) plate and the pork was sooooo tender and the flavor was delicious! My husband tried the sweet sour chicken and liked it (better than most other places in the area). We also shared the shrimp "crepe" rolls (fresh rolls) and they were nothing super special, but definitely solid. The Thai tea was very light on sweetness which was actually nice as some Thai teas are way too sweet imo, but it also seemed kind of watered down...won't stop me from ordering it again though. Portions are large and a huge value as previous posters have mentioned. I found the glittery red vinyl bench seats to be pretty darn comfy! We will be back. That is all. read more

My wife and I started eating at K.T. Noodles around 2001. We bought a house in the Rollin area and was looking a place to have soup. We drove down Sunset road and there it was out of nowhere. As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by an old man (owner) was told to sit anywhere we wanted. The place is a family owned restaurant. They are actually from the Sacramento area and is close on Sunday. Thats to bad. The place is clean and the waiters and waitress are polite and friendly. This place serve good food and very cheap. I have had the pleasure of living just down the street from this little place for a year now. Consequently, I've become a frequent visitor here. They definitely hold their own. I primarily come here for the phó, but I've gotten some other things too. Their portions are hearty and the prices are reasonable, and I've never been disappointed. This place is so hole-in-the wall, if the food wasn't great I wouldn't go back. Really, this place is all about the food. The staff is pretty useless when it comes to a regular restaurant experience, as they don't really understand English, but the food is beyond fantastic. I used to vegetarian, and the menu they offer for vegetarians is larger then most and is well made. The ingredients are fresh, the "meat replacements" perfectly done (bean curd doesn't sound very good but it's oh-so-yummy prepared by them), and in this economy you truly can't beat the price. I pay $6 for my meal and I eat half of it, and eat the next half for lunch the next day. They definitely give you a hearty helping. It's a great way to get a healthy, "veggie-ful" meal on the cheap. I would absolutely recommend going there, as long as you don't mind the service lacking and somewhat janky decor. I could care less so I love this place. read more

The spring rolls were tasty in flavor, but literally falling apart. The soup comes in only one size, and its so full you cant even put in your sprouts and basil. Flavor was good, but due to the bowl being too small, the meat (on top) was not cooked all the way. If they put this soup in a larger container, it would have been great! Meat was good quality and plentiful! Wontons were small but they only charge you $1.60 for 6=) The server was about as authentic a Vietnamese man as you can get, he didn't understand my request, I had to explain it nearly 5 times (no exaggeration) he stared at me like I had aliens growing out of my head and then ended it all with, "what ever you want maam". An absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to eat great for a low price and not have to sacrifice quality to the gods of frugality. Though I did pass some judgement at seeing the old strip mall in which this place resides, the food, service, and prices were a triple winner. I found the portions to be quite large, whether it be the veggie-loaded Wor Won Ton Soup or a grilled meat Bún. Good luck trying to down your dish in one sitting. There is plenty to choose from on the menu, which includes some Chinese-style dishes, so it really is a matter of choosing what meat you want to have prepared. The interior has sparkly red diner-style booths, without high walls, complete with large rear mirror, TV, and plenty of light. Hubby and I love KT noodles. The food is so good and SO cheap. Whether you eat at the restaurant or take your food to go, it comes out of the kitchen fast. The potions are large and the service is friendly. I have tried Vietnamese food at other places that was too spicy or too fishy. I believe it's #49? Curry Chicken = YUMMY! The first time I came here it was kind of unmemorable. We had some soup and some noodle dish and it wasn't that great and the service sucked (my water glass was never refilled nor did we ever see anyone after our food was dropped off). My friend who recommended the place even said the food wasn't that good that night and she's been going for many years. So, I gave it another try and oh my did things change. The service hasn't been an issue and when placing a to go order you never have to wait too long. Everything I've had since the bad first night has been great and the Curry Chicken is my favorite!! Not only is it super tasty, but one order (which only costs like $8) is enough for at least 4 big meals. That's crazy! And the place is always packed no matter what day or time I go in so that's a good sign. The dirty, crazy cluttered front counter and area behind the counter/register does leave me wondering what kind of shape the kitchen is in but haven't had any issues with the food. Good for quuuuiiiick decent food. We had the lemon chicken which was a nuclear yellowish color and bbq chicken which was dyed fire engine red. Both tasted ok but the dye used threw some flags. Just OK. Charbroiled pork with eggroll over rice noodle. The grilled pork had a freaky red dye that really bothered me. I've ordered this dish at every Vietnamese restaurant I've been to and I've never seen red dye on the grilled pork like this before. The noodles were way too soft so that they broke into little pieces as I was mixing the fish sauce into the noodles. I suspect they may have been precooked and reheated. Also the fish sauce could have been stronger. There was either not enough for the amount of noodle or it was diluted since I had to resort to the pot of chili for flavor. Service is very quick. Portions are large and it's very inexpensive. The dining area is retro-fabulous kitsch circa 1970, with formica tables and red vinyl booths. The place was doing pretty decent lunch business. Not sure if I'll be back. The usage of food dyes really bugs me. Judging by the other reviews there's liberal usage of red dye and yellow dye. read more

This is a neighborhood, family run restaurant, the food is great, and the service is fast. My experience with Vietnamese food falls into three areas. French Vietnamese in San Francisco and a short lived restaurant here in the Valley. This is a sophisticated cuisine that I miss. My second experience is Bobo Cafe. The food is basic and okay. But now I've tried KT Noodle. Okay it isn't French Vietnamese, but the food is fresh, served in large quantities. Also I was able to get singing chicken (a chicken and garlic dish that's a bit hard to find). And while it isn't as good as mine (a modified version that's closer to the French Vietnamese version) it was still excellent. I've eaten here twice--once when I was just being introduced to the wonderful world of pho, and once more recently. The first time I tried it was actually my second-ever bowl of pho. My only thought was 'hm...well, that wasn't as good as that other place, but this whole pho thing is pretty weird, so maybe I'm doing it wrong.' That said, I spent most of 2009 and 2010 trawling Midtown and South Sac for the area's best pho. I'm not a cultural expert or anything like that, but I have tried well over a dozen different places in the Sacramento area. So revisiting, more knowledgable and with a more refined taste, I was curious to see what I would think. My thoughts? Exactly the same. It's not bad, but it's not good.
