If you are looking for late night eats, hotpot or seafood, this is a good option. Very friendly staff. They have a lot of options. Also smaller portions available for a discount. Even small portions are reasonably large. Small parking lot.

Found another spot, Kwan Luck Restaurant, for late night Chinese da lang. It's a few steps from Tina Cake Desserts. Late night has 148 options ($14.00-$23.00). They also serve clay pots ($35.00-$55.00). Several groups ordered the Chinese escargots and mutton hot pot. Very strange that we had to ask specifically for the late night menu. - Clams in black bean sauce (#4) ($17.00) - decent - Pea leaves with garlic sauce (#87) ($16.00) - excellent. Good portion - Pork chop with sweet gourmet sauce (#35) ($15.00) - Deep fried egg tofu with spicy chili salt (#103) ($16.00) - solid. Egg tofu was fried perfectly - Plain congee (#118) ($15.00 large) - bland but slightly better than Sandy La's version - Rice noodle with beef brisket hot pot (#133) ($17.00) - came out piping hot. Plenty of noodles but brisket was overcooked Cash or e-transfer only.

We were looking for congee with small dishes for a late dinner & check out Kwan Luck Restaurant on Kingsway. It was our first time there. At 9.30pm, it was busy! The menu was extensive, they gave regular menu & a late night menu that has congee with smaller portion dishes to go with the plain congee or different meat congee. Staff were friendly & efficient, they were busy . Despite being busy, they take the time to check on you a couple of times, very attentive. Place is decent for a Chinese restaurant, don't expect a 5 star dining environment. However the place is clean, so is the bathroom. Food is nicely cooked, good quality & very flavourful, absolutely no complaints. We were very satisfied with our meal, we will be back! Parking is limited, street parking is available.

Wow, where do I start? This restaurant is quite small for a Chinese restaurant but they make the most of it. The staff were very friendly and they were extremely quick. The service was definitely 5/5! The food was tasty and almost everything was finished! Each dish came out after the other, and the staff made sure to time it right so the dishes would not be cold sitting out at the table.

Excellent Chinese cuisine along Kingsway Vancouver,Busy place, another gig that is "cash only".,free parking maybe 10-15 cars okay... I got the fried squid with pepper, garlic and jalopenos,it was very good and tasty, pretty generous serving in here. For my main entree I ordered the seafood and veggie chowmein..very ordinary and tasted a bit bitter because the veggies they put were big chunk of brocolli..no other greens on it. Pricey in here when you eat alone, and also depends on what dish you will order... to me everything in the menu is a bit expensive. They have specialtu dishes from crabs, king crabs and lobster,Tilapia is also available.. Noose level is morethan average when I came.we Asians talk loud..hahahha 10% discount on dine-in and even more on pick up orders. The server looks like she's already tired but still she wears that customer service generic smile... Ill try crabs on my next visit. Pretty neat place only the washroom needs a little make over...

Good food, small restaurant but great service and wasn't to busy when we went. Dishes ranged on average $20-30, quite expensive. What we ordered: Family meal - $155 Cream Crab x2 - $30/lb Shrimp EggFooYung Deep fried squid Everything was okay, not amazingly different from any Chinese restaurant. Service was great though, I didn't feel like I felt sick or had to much msg in the food which was great too but overall the bill came out to $415 which is quite pricey for Chinese food but good service and I'd come back for take out.

Excellent service and delicious authentic Chinese food with late night specials in a cozy but run down establishment. Chinatown movie vibes ;) Highly recommend the deep fried silverfish, honey garlic spareribs, deep fried pork intestines, and ginger pea shoots. Have your food with their plain congee which is thick and creamy. Yummy and warming to the soul. If note, it's cash only. There is complimentary sweet soup for dessert. Would come again.

We've always driven by Kwan Luck but never thought to try it out. Last night, my father-in-law brought my husband and me here for a quick weeknight dinner. The three of us ordered the daily soup, scrambled eggs and prawns, tung choy with beef and half a salt-baked chicken. Simple homey dishes that are fun to share. The food here reminds me of the simple home-cooked dishes that my grandmother would have made for us. While the dishes were a little pricey, they make it up with generous-sized portions. The daily soup was a pork bone, soybean and soy sheet soup. The soup was rich and flavourful with a hint of sweetness from the carrots. It was so good I had 4 bowls to myself! The salt-baked chicken was soft and tender, and the tung choy was done nicely with the leaves still being bright and green. My favourite dish of the night was definitely the scrambled eggs with prawns. The prawns were fresh and snappy, and the eggs were creamy and full of flavour. This place is now on my list of places to go when I am craving some homecooked food.

I live a few blocks away but finally made the visit here before 6pm on a weekday. Customer service is amazing; truly a strong point here. Price is a bit steep here compared to some other nearby Chinese restaurants. Portion sizes are a bit smaller (at least for the food we ordered as a combo), but still reasonable. The ratio of meats to veggies could be better in some dishes... We ordered a 三和菜, which costs $63. You get a soup of the day, 3 bowls of rice, 1/4 of a Hainan chicken, and dessert to top your meal off. Food came out at a reasonable time but before that, I really have to commend the staff. Our waitress came and told us that our dishes all had green peppers in them and asked if we wanted to switch one of the dishes to something else. She later came back and said, "ah, I wouldn't have told you but the chef wanted me to let you know, I wasn't thinking about that at all." That was honestly great of them! It didn't specify that on the menu, so that was awesome. All of the waitresses had great customer service and seemed genuinely nice. Now, the food... the beef with spinach (this was our replacement after being told about all dishes having green peppers) was typical, but not too salty; could be eaten without rice due to the already balanced flavours. The beef is prepared with corn starch, so it has a super soft texture. The squid dish was as expected with the black bean flavours. This dish was on the saltier side, which goes well with rice. The last dish was super sour and a bit overpowering. They used a pickled ginger so it is sour, like the type you have at sushi places. Pineapples were mixed in as well, so that acidity is sky high. It was okay for my dad though. The complimentary Hainan chicken was good, we didn't really have a ton of fat on it. There's also parking out front. The customer service alone was probably worth a high rating. The food was not the best but was slightly average to above average. I'd definitely go again and hope people reading this to take a chance as well! TLDR; BOMB CUSTOMER SERVICE. Good food. Bit pricey. Free parking out front.

We came here for a late night meal. Most dishes were really good with a reasonable price. My favorite dish of the night was the oysters. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Not only do they have sauce, they have fruit (oranges, tomatoes) chips/ snacks and dessert (red bean sago, ice jelly) This place no doubt has great customer service. The waiters come by often, refilling water and hot pot base, taking away used plates, gathering impurities from the broth over time. They escorted us to our table where the waiter asked if we wanted a membership, no explanation. We said no at first since we don't live near a Haidilao, but we later changed our minds after finding out the lunch AYCE deal was based on signing up for a membership (free, just provide your email or phone). Note: they don't make known the lunch AYCE unless you ask. The tablet to order on was a bit confusing to use; there were many options but only a specific subset were included in lunch AYCE. It would have been nice for the server to explain better and guide us through the hot pot experience, but our server all but disappeared for most of our experience. We found them walking around and asked about our drinks that were seemingly forgotten for ~15 mins. This was the first hotpot I've been to where only the meat and apps are brought to you, veggies/noodles/shrimp/chicken were all a ~20 ft walk from the table. They provide small plates so you have to make several trips to grab everything you want. It was a bit hectic and inconvenient compared to having them delivered to your table. The quality of the meat and add-ins was good. There was a variety of sauce options, with the fresh veggie/fruit options being cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, cantalope, and watermelon. There was mung bean soup and ice jelly as dessert. All were very fresh and tasty. Very fitting and satisfying for traditional Chinese flavor palates. We ordered the tomato and spicy broth, apparently the 2 most popular flavors. The servers refilled the broth and brought additional meat options once the current meat plate was finished. At the end of the meal, they offered a Melona equivalent bar. Overall, for the price of what it is, it's alright. The quality of ingredients is good, but the process is hectic and service is good only if you're familiar with the hot pot process already.

But in other parts of the world the meal is what's important and so is a quick turn around. Guu with Garlic reminded me a lot of the Izakaya restaurants I found under the train lines of Tokyo in many ways, including the amount of time it felt right to stay. The food came out quick, the servers took orders quicker, and the alcohol came out chilled and as nice contrast to the hot food. Looking around and you see the hand written menu on blackboard surfaces on the walls and this feeling of authenticity. The heat of the flames from the kitchen can be felt and seen if you sit at the bar. And the flavors just hit all the right notes. Starting with appetizers, a section izakayas shine at, the first dish we got was their scallop and mayo pizza. With a crispy crunch on the bottom and crust, this reminds you of the flavors of a baked volcano roll or scallop roll you can find in almost any North American sushi restaurant. Just like that dish, it's important to eat it while it's still hot so it doesn't get gross and 느끼 에. Then came the yellowtail tuna "tempura" pieces. Thick pieces of yellowtail tuna flash fried for just the right crisp on the outside with slight pink of the fish inside. It is meaty without being oily or fatty. Great bite. The beef tongue after was interesting. From the color of the sauce it accompanies it you would think it would be heavy in flavor but it is actually light and citrusy. A good cut into the richer tones of the beef tongue. The yaki udon was one of the best I ever had. It was smokey without being overpowering. The beef was thin and tender and balanced well with the mushrooms it also came with. The udon noodles stayed bouncy and chewy which I didn't expect from being grilled. Very tasty and highly recommend this dish. For our final bite we shared a hot stone bowl of their pork and cabbage rice. With the hot stone bowl constantly cooking even after this dish arrived it was imperative to stir the ingredients together constantly for the first two minutes. It allowed for the runny egg to meld with the rice and the crispy texture of some ingredients was a nice bonus. All in all, I loved eating here and if my appetite was bigger I would've tried more on their menu. A solid place to eat with a great atmosphere, if you're looking for delicious food that won't take too much of your time but still lingers in your memories you have to check out Guu with Garlic.
