Overall, it was a solid experience, just not quite as impressive as I expected for the price point and location. The service was consistently good every morning. Staff were friendly, attentive, and kept everything clean and stocked. One thing I appreciated was that all of the food seemed fresh, which makes a big difference with a breakfast buffet. The best part of the restaurant is easily the view. Sitting there with the ocean and Waikiki Beach right outside creates a really nice atmosphere to start the day. The biggest issue for me was the limited selection. The continental breakfast choices were fairly basic and after several visits it started to feel repetitive. Nothing was bad, there just wasn't a lot of variety. If they expanded the buffet options and added a few more rotating items, this place could easily be a 4.5 or even 5-star breakfast spot. I came for breakfast because the restaurant was in my hotel. The location is great right by the beach and they seated me next to the beach view. The hostess was warm and welcoming and seated me right a way. They had a very impressive buffet complete with chef making omelets. We had a $150 hotel credit to use, which you could only redeem at the Kuhio Grill or Queensbreak (as far as dining). Mochi waffle was good. It was soft and chewy as it should be. The berry compote was alright, maybe just not my cup of tea. But it was a big portion and it filled me up! I also had a POG juice as a beverage. My fiancé's steak and eggs were decent as well. Cooked medium, as requested, with over medium eggs. Even though they just reopened with a limited menu and we were expecting a buffet, Kuhio Beach Grill was such a treat. The hostess was so, so kind and dressed to the nines. The wait staff were also the same, and the dining room was impeccable. My husband, a picky eater, loved his Wagyu Smash Burger. I ordered the Turkey BLT and the slight pesto they added really brought it together. But the fries, stole the show. They were so dang crispy and utterly delicious. I'd love to have a plate right now. The Blue Hawaii was so yummy and I love a good drink. Kuhio Beach Grill was literally the only restaurant without a wait time and after eating there, I believe more people have to visit! Found our way to Kuhio Beach Grill for a Friday night buffet. What do we look for in a good buffet? Crab. AYCE CRAB! On the weekends KBG has crab on the menu and prime rib, along with chef prepared hot dishes including noodles and shrimp. Add to that the salad bar and some seafood dishes, and you've got a pretty fabulous AYCE buffet. We used to enjoy a buffet that has since closed, and this one has been added to the list of go-to AYCE joints. There is a reasonable cost ($42) for early-bird seating, and happy hour is 5-6pm, and there are drink specials available. There is also a yelp check-in special valid Monday-Thursday. Do you realize how rare it is to find a hotel that offers stellar options for breakfast? And this one's a buffet, at that!! While I'm aware Kuhio Beach offers dinner as well as breakfast, I will be basing today's review on the scrumptious breakfast buffet I enjoyed this morning. I mean...I was seriously impressed and that rarely happens when it comes to buffets, period. Only thing I found odd was when we first entered the restaurant. We weren't sure if the hostess was AWOL or if we were supposed to seat ourselves or if we were supposed to wait in their little waiting area couch thing; but...it took about 5 minutes to get noticed. They quickly made up for it though with an almost immediate seating and consistently cordial service. But the food is what steals the show here. When I say I liked almost every single item featured at the buffet, I'm not even being slightly hyperbolic here. Of course, I went after my favorites: bacon, eggs, omelet, potato casserole and a toasted half bagel with cream cheese. My Gawd...even the coffee was splendid and not weak like tea, unlike a majority of hotels and restaurants all over. The scrambled eggs were extra creamy, soft and fluffy just the way I love 'em! Some people may not like that, so...take that as either a caveat or a compliment. But I absolutely loved their scrambled eggs. The bacon was also cooked to perfection. There was a mix between mid-well to well done pieces. So, if you prefer your bacon extra crispy as I do, you can pick through what's there and select accordingly (*hint: the crispier pieces are usually towards the bottom). The omelet station was...entertaining. While I didn't enjoy the omelet as much as the eggs, it was still quite good; like...7 out of 10 good. The chef was really into his craft and you could tell. Exaggerated gestures aside, this chef was quick, efficient and possessed a level of dexterity I don't even see in most hibachi restaurants. He got everyone's order out rather rapidly, considering he always had about 3 pans going at a time. Finally, the potato casserole was something new for me. I'm not quite sure what all was put into it, ingredient wise. The only thing I'd say is it's a bit bland, the way they prepare it. But I suspect this item isn't featured everyday and they probably do it deliberately because everyone's preferences differ when it comes to seasoning. Just sprinkle some salt and pepper on those bad boys and you'll be good to go. Bottom line: KBG hits all the marks where they matter most. The buffet is clean, accessible and features a nice selection. The coffee was pretty decent and they even leave the pot on the table for you. And I had no issues with the service. This place is easily worthy of 5 extra creamy eggs scrambled out of 5. Only the best featured by a Marriott hotel, amirite? read more

My husband and I went in for breakfast. We were surprised that it was a buffet. There are two options for buffet...full or cold buffet. My husband and got the full buffet because he wanted an omelet. He said that is was cooked perfectly and flavorful. I had the cold buffet. The fresh fruit bowls were delicious, as were the sticky buns. This is a great restaurant if you don't want to drive around in Waikiki. If you're staying at the Waikiki Beach Marriott or close to is, this place is truly ideal. The view of the beach is amazing and the food and drinks they serve are reasonably priced. Each night has a different theme so be sure to check out their offerings before visiting. Also, if you're a hotel guest, make sure to show your room key to receive additional discounts. If you happen to receive drink vouchers, make sure to redeem them too. I've been here on several occasions and remember it being on the lower level but this was years ago. I asked the bartender on my most recent visit and he confirmed, a remodel did move the establishment up a floor. Perfect to see the ocean. The dining area is comfortable and surrounded by mirrors so it looks like you're surrounded by the ocean from any vantage point. Their crab legs and prime rib are perfectly prepared. You can taste the quality. Service is excellent and there is never ever really a line unless its seafood night. Their seafood is so good, even locals make the visit. Remember parking is free for 4 hours I believe if validated, so make sure you get your stub punched by the cashier before you leave. read more

Huge dinning room with lots of tables and a bar in the middle and buffet at the back wall. They offer Fresh Fruits and Lychee was very sweet and delicious. They have your basics eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, waffles and a bread station. Other items like miso soup, rice congee with veggie toppings to choose from and soba noodles. Favorite is the omelet station and breakfast crepes and more. Was it good? YES! as for the taste , hey it's breakfast ...salt and pepper on the table or ketchup , tabasco and soy sauce make it to your liking :) FULL and Satisfied morning. Wonderful staff and great selection for breakfast! Most hotels just have breads, cereal and maybe juice if you're lucky. Instead, Kuhio Beach Grill offers cooked foods too like bacon, eggs and an omelet station. The best part you ask? Congee! The only thing they're missing is the shredded dried pork! They do have pickled veggies and kimchi which was an interesting addition since I have never thought to add kimchi to congee. Regardless, each experience was great. We never dined here any other time except breakfast as there are too many selections for other meals. The staff here is amazing and traffic flows nicely. We stopped in here for happy hour, $8 old fashion made with knob creek which was AWESOME. The bartender told us that they had more local drinks upstairs for another 45 minutes, so we opted to go up there to check them out. Great recommendation, but after, we came back down to catch the last half hour of happy hour here, and it was the right choice. Beautiful bar, the bartender was quick and attentive. Andy took care of us and chatted with us for a little bit, great conversation. Drinks were great and top shelf alcohol for a great price. We will definitely try to make it back for the prime rib buffet, it smelled and looked amazing. Great experience and I would highly recommend to sit at the bar and grab a drink. read more

Friends went a while ago & said it was great, so we decided to check out the Wednesday: Hawaiian Poke Bar. Since the prices & detailed menu were not available on the website, I sent an email requesting the info. The Restaurant Manager responded with an attachment that listed a "Local Poke Station". Well, the "Local Poke Station" turned out to be 1 ahi poke choice that was too spicy for me. I don't understand the obsession with spicy food that masks the freshness or flavor of the food. Spicy heat can always be added but not taken away. SMH. BTW the prime rib was not at a carving station. We ordered it from our server & it was brought out to us. There was around 5 hot entrees & 6 sides/starches - I liked the rolls best because it was served with real butter. Can't say much about the rest. Sodas start at $5 free refills. We came here on a Saturday night the place was packed mostly consisting of Japanese tourists. We went straight for the snow crab legs which were steaming hot in the pot next to melted butter and cocktail sauce. There are tools for you to crack open the shells so you won't have a problem. Then I went over to the prime rib table which a chef is available to slice for you. The servers are super friendly and they will get you anything that you need at any time. For a buffet like this you might have to pay 60+ dollars at other places. Just come here and get your fill of crabs, you won't be disappointed!! So we often like to eat out but we were saddened when the Oceanarium closed...we've had to resort to eating crab leg buffets at the Pagoda, and it isn't always bad but this was definitely a place we would come in and eat again! They offer a Kamaaina Discount if 20% off each person and also offer 50% off on Monday's through Thursday's!!! They had all the important options here, which you look for in any buffet! Crab legs were steamed and not on ice, prime rib was tender, moist and very juicy, dessert bar had delectable confections and fresh fruit and chocolate dipped strawberries. There was even a flan served in tiny silver cups that tasted like creme brûlée! We were lucky to be seated at an area where Dean was our server and he was FABULOUS!!
