It's hot fresh food made to order! They have all you can eat lunch for 13$. You get check lists of sushi, miso or hot sour soups, salad, hibachi vegetables, chicken, tofu, great vegetarian options, you check off what you want and if you're not full they'll give you new papers to check off more food! Compared to sushi palace, I thought this place was mediocre. It did have more/different selections in various areas of the menu but overall the quality was not as good in my opinion. The miso soup tasted like it was watered down and the Tom yum soup didn't have much except for mushrooms (as opposed to the usual variety of vegetables). The ice cream tasted less creamy and has icey parts in it. The spicy seaweed salad had too much sauce and there was not much quantity per order. What was nice was the speed of our order (probably because there wasn't a full crowd on the weekday When I visited). Even though this was all you can eat and a little bit cheaper, I don't think it can beat sushi palace in taste. But for those who want the bang for your buck, Kumo will do. read more

Very disappointing dining experience tonight. Large party who were very loud and obnoxious. Sushi was acceptable but all hot dishes were so cold, we had them returned. Service was horrible! Waited 25 minutes before being greeted then another 30 minutes just for appetizers. The servers delivered the wrong dishes twice and at one point, didn't deliver one round of orders at all. First the disclaimer: this review is based on take it out of food only. However, I did try several different options and styles from the menu. Starting with the highlights, the sushi was very fresh and delicious. Although we ordered a simple roll it was a excellent sample. The pad Thai however lacked in both consistency and flavor. I asked for spicy it was very bland. The chicken in orange sauce was not any better. The sauce was goopy and sweet and without exceptional flavor. I did enjoy the wontons in the wonton soup, but the broth was without much flavor. The fried dumplings were okay but not delicious. To be fair, this place is really and all you can eat sushi joint. Came here for my aunt's birthday on New Year's Day around 4PM. She said this place had all you can eat sushi so I was pretty excited. After eating here though, never coming back. AYCE is $23.95 a person I believe so my aunt and I ordered stuff from there. We got a few sushi rolls, hibachi fried rice and noodles, soup, and shumai. My girlfriend, uncle, and sister each got a bento box with brown rice. The sushi was okay, really didn't have many complaints there. The shumai only comes with 2 pieces and is fried. We got two orders of edamame and mine had absolutely no salt on it while my aunt's did have salt. Not sure why they only salted one order? My mushroom soup was so salty, I took a sip and didn't want it anymore. Her miso soup was fine. Here's where the food took a turn for the worse. The hibachi fried rice and noodles.... When I think hibachi fried rice, it'd be fried rice with soy sauce, eggs, and vegetables. Wrong. This fried rice was slimy and drenched in whatever sauce they put on it. I wish I had taken a picture to upload. I took a bite and put it to the side, there was no way I was going to eat that. The noodles? Bland and also drenched in sauce. I put that to the side as well and when one of the older guys who worked there (server? manger? idk) came over to take those two plates, he gave me a very unhappy look as if he expected me to eat that. The bento boxes that came out, there was such a foul smell on the brown rice it almost made me sick. It smelled like dirty dish rags which made it completely inedible. I was told that the smell is due to putting towels over the rice to retain the moisture... that didn't make it any less disgusting... My aunt and I wanted to get a few more appetizers since we had enough sushi and it was a hassle to wave down a server to get another one of the forms. I was really disappointed with my experience at Kumo. Food-wise it was fine - pretty comparable to Sushi Palace/any of the numerous AYCE sushi places you can find in the area in terms of freshness/quality. Specialty rolls were interesting and pretty good, I think the Treasure Roll was my favorite. Good quality and selection of sashimi too. The SERVICE though! My friends and I were stuck here for at least an hour longer than we wanted to be due to the horrendously slow service! It just took forever for them to get our orders out and it didn't seem to be a very busy night either. And it was also difficult to ask for very small things - like a new pair of chopsticks, or water, or a bowl of rice. Every time we would ask for help on very basic things like that they would get it mixed up or be very slow in providing it for us. I think they might just be understaffed/undertrained? Maybe they'll hire more people and improve with time. Despite more or less enjoying the food, I probably won't come again. I went a week ago in the evening around 7pm. Honestly, I was as skeptical as some of the other reviewers here. With all of the competition on main street, can the market really support another sushi place, and buffet? Despite Awli C.'s claim below, the menu is NOT "the exact same as Sushi Palace" - and what items are on both menus are NOT the same when they reach the table. For example, I greatly prefer the Lumpia at Sushi Palace(SP) verses the Thai Spring Rolls of Kumo(KM). However, KM's Crispy Calamari is far fresher and better than SPs similar dish. Décor: They appear to have bought some wood flooring in bulk for the walls and hastily painted trim. Cudos to whomever decided to use some snazzy lighting techniques. Using shadows from a built in trellis to cast light on the walls in a pleasing manor that makes you feel as if you are eating atop an airy mountain and eliminates the need for any other wall décor. The floor appears to be mock stone made of some kind of high traffic laminate, we will see how that holds up. The waiting area was curiously lacking chairs, but seeing as they opened not long ago I am willing to believe they are in the mail. The seating is welcoming and airy, in stark contrast to the SP where you often get the feeling that you are not welcomed and how dare you be taking up that much space to eat why don't you just eat standing wedged in a corner darn you fat people! Ah hem, ah hem. Anyway, on with the rest of the review. Staff: Everyone I spoke with (Hostess, two waitresses, one busboy and sushi chef) were cheerful and polite, and happy to answer any questions I had. Their uniforms were simple, black, and clean, as where their hands. I always pay attention to my waiter/waitresses hands and uniform. If they aren't clean, do I really want to eat the food? Obvious answer, moving on. Food - I had the buffet option - and will break this down into different categories below: Salads - I had the Garden Salad, and I do not know what happened, but my cucumber was mush, I mean I don't think it was rotten but I also did not eat it. It may have been dissolved by the dressing, which was so acidic and artificial tasting in comparison to SP that I was worried the rest of the meal may be a bad idea in the making. You will soon notice a pattern here. Soups - I had Miso soup, which left me so asking where is the flavor? (Sorry, that was awful.) It was like drinking hot cloudy sink water. Ick. Appetizers - As I already mentioned the Fried Calamari being a favorite, and the Spring Rolls not so much. Let me also speak on the Tempura Shrimp - these were so fresh and plump I could have eaten a basket of them. On a side note - the Sauces. Most of the sauces fell flat. They were dull, they were drab, they did nothing to enhance the flavors of the food they were meant to accompany. They could have just gave me unflavored gelatin, which I am a bit suspicious... mooooving on. Sushi - I tried Tuna, Yellow Tail, Red Snapper and Salmon. I loved the portion sizes. They were bite sized, as they are MEANT to be, most with no more than about a square inch of rice with a beautiful and generous helping of fish. However, they put the wasabi and ginger on the plate with the sushi and rolls, which in the long run is a waste if guests order more than one plate as I did. Rolls - The only roll I tried was the Treasure Roll and oh boy I think I have a new favorite! I loved the Tiger Roll from SP for the longest time, and don't get me wrong I still do but have found it to be cumbersome and often so hastily made that it is falling apart when it gets to me. The Treasure Roll has such better flavor and a presentation to die for I just love it! It is tangy and spicy (but not too spicy) and crunchy and all things awesome! Plus: SUSHI/ROLLS - Your portion sized are just what I expect, and almost NEVER get, from sushi places! Please keep that going! ROLLS - You offer the classics and some different ones in comparison to those you always seem to see, which is refreshing. They, like the sushi, are bite sized and that is a blessing. Minus: SAUCES/SOUP - Really they MUST do something with the sauces/soups. People in this town in general like strong and powerful flavors. (This is a general, this does not include everyone so please do not be offended if you liked the soups or sauces, that is your right!) If KM does not do something to improve these things, they will be in trouble. You just cannot half ass it here. WASABI & GINGER - put it on its own little plate, really. I get that you have an "look" you are going for, but otherwise you are just throwing your money away. Get fancy little plates if you want to keep with the atmosphere and mood, but if you don't do it this way you are fools. read more

Everything is pretty good maybe one or two things could have used a little more salt but thats why there is soy sauce for the table, I couldn't find anything that I really didn't like. It's all you can eat for around $20. I've had the miso soup, gyoza, shrimp tempura, crab rangoon, spring roll, fried calamari, and edamame for appetizers. As for the rolls: Godzilla roll, volcano roll, double double roll, sunflower roll, triple crown, love roll, Kumo roll, spicy tuna roll, California roll, shrimp tempura. And from the sashimi menu: shrimp, salmon, tuna, salmon roe, squid. Their ice cream is good too, they have chocolate, vanilla, red bean, and green tea. I had seen many reviews criticizing the service. That's where I deducted a star. The place shows the disorganization of a relatively new restaurant with a young and untrained staff. There appeared little or no assignment of duties for the staff. Everyone just seemed to be doing what came up, but inefficiently since there was little communication among staff. The miso and mushroom soup were not that tasty at all. The chicken katsu meat did not have any taste. Probably highly processed meat. The shrimp and broccoli tempura tasted like just something fried in some batter... no taste. The sushi comes in a big ball of rice. The nori for the handroll is already soft by the time it comes to the table... which means it's probably already going stale before they used it. First time and most likely the last time at this place for us. There are other better sushi places around here. Even Sushi Palace around the corner was better than here. Signed, sealed and shut -- we made our decision and decided to take the plunge. Our experience kicked-off with a 10-minute wait before we were greeted by wait staff, which was only a minor issue since we would have waited at least another 15 minutes at Sushi Palace. Then, we received two pieces of paper to mark the items we wanted and we promptly checked-off a starter list since we were starving. 5 minutes...10 minutes...15 minutes passed by as we continued to reassure ourselves that it can't be that bad. I really wanted to like the place. We attempted to flag down a waiter. 1...2...3.. all acknowledged with eye contact and quickly darted away. Is my hair sticking up? Did I forget to use deodorant? Excellent sushi! We stopped in for lunch to have the all you can eat special menu. Often times with All You Can Eat there is a limited menu since they don't reallllly want you to eat all you can!
