Green Peppercorn & Spicy Hot Pot
Mary S.

My experience was average - some good things like flavorful broth, lots of options, and was able to get sat right away... but also some bad, like less than fresh produce in the refrigerator section, difficult parking, and server never came to check on me. I would try some other hot pot places in town before returning.

Lots of variety (vegetables, beef, seafood) to add to the hot pot! Really liked the beef and variety of vegetables to add in. Server was also super nice and friendly.

Kung fu hot pot has good food and great customer service! I tried the hot pot for the first time and my waiter was extremely helpful. I tried the hot pot with veggies and Ramen and I love the unique flavor profile. The decor was a cozy, traditional restaurant and I had no problem parking on the street. The egg rolls, fried tempura veggies, and spring rolls were delicious along with the sauces. and it was all you can eat, which was a plus!

The food is awesome and very tasty. It doesn't look all that big in the refrigerators they have, but it definitely expands. We tried the shrimp and crawfish. Not the best it was a little gritty. The beef rolls, lamb rolls and meatballs were great. The service was excellent, they took dirty dishes quickly and made sure our drinks were full. They were friendly also as we had never been here before and they explained how it worked. One of the only hard things was finding parking. It on street and metered so a little challenging.

Broth at Kung Fu Hot Pot, Minneapolis

Hot pot is a new experience for me. My friend brought us here for all-you-can-eat hot pot and showed me the ropes. A simple concept - a ring on the table heats the pot of broth. Into the broth, you pour in stuff to cook. And when it's cooked, you pull it out and eat. We opted for two broths - beef and tomato. And then it's time to load up a bowl from the coolers. Different frozen meats including chicken, beef, meatballs, octopus, crawfish. A second cooler with veggies including onions, mushrooms, peppers and the like. There are also a few different types of noodles available. Yes, it's all you can eat. They will refill the broth as needed and they will bring more rice. It's delicious and you can absolutely get your money's worth here. Yum! [Review 20734 overall - 145 in Minnesota - 1716 of 2023.]

Our first ever hot pot experience surely didn't disappoint! Our waiter was very polite and had a wonderful attitude. It created a very welcoming atmosphere right off the bat! Lots of food options and it was all SO delicious and fun! This is a MUST for anyone looking to enjoy an extravagant and unique meal. I will absolutely return!

Best place for AYCE hot pot in the cities! I attended their grand opening and I just keep coming back! The service is always nice and I love the self serve aspect. You grab your little tray and pick from a variety of choices! (Meat/fish/veggies) There's also a little sauce bar with so many options. Soo worth visiting especially during a cold winter day. It will def warm you up. :D

The spicy beef tallow is my favorite soup base, but the standard broth is also great especially if you don't do spice!!

This place is truly spectacular. It is a great value as well if you've got eaters in your family…read more There is a huge vast variety of food choices to put in your hot pot, and many choices for broth to cook it in. By far, our favorite was the pork bone broth, which is the house specialty. And then, if your hot pot broth is not to your liking, you can alter it using the sauce and seasoning bar. We also got the Szechuan peppercorn and the wild mushroom broth, all three were good. The Szechuan peppercorn was a bit of a one trick pony, but if you cooked it in pork broth and then dipped it in Szechuan peppercorn broth oh, it was delicious.. Anything and everything you'd want to put in your hot pot is available and you could just go get it for yourself. I really like this element because there are things I don't want in my hot pot and there's things I want doubly in my hot pot., and with this model, I can select whatever I want. You can also get all you can eat off the menu as well, for dim sum and grilled items, but honestly, we couldn't eat very much of those. We were very full from hot pot. I highly recommend spending the three dollars for the all you can drink tea and lemonade. It was also to die for. I don't usually drink sugar drinks, but I made an exception today and I am not sorry. I also wanna give a shout out to the staff who were incredibly helpful and kind. Thank you, Abigail and the guy whose name I didn't catch..

We got the vegetarian Pho, Duck Congee, Soke Wings, Pad Thai, and Egg Rolls. It was a flavor explosion. The Pho was deep, savory, perfect blend of herbs and umami rich broth. It had different types of mushrooms, baby bok choy, slices of zucchini, fried tofu, and a thick noodle. Amazing! I cannot rave enough about this dish. The wings had amazing coating and sweet and tangy sauce on them. So good! Pad Thai was a perfect noodle sauce balance. Duck Congee was not what I expected but the rice was tender, and a bit sweet and the duck paired nicely. I would order all of it again. We will be visiting again soon to try it all there. I have eaten Pho all over the northwest metro and this place by far is one of my favorites. The deep flavors of all the dishes blew our minds.

The staff were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Hot Pot: We were told that we could have 4 both options. We only did 2 and I thought it was pretty good. It took a while for the broth to boil. They have lots of options for proteins, soybean, vegetables, and noodles/rice. They also offer lobster tail! They did give us two sets of ladles. One had a strainer on the bottom, while the other is a regular ladle. BBQ: I like their protein options, which includes short ribs and an 8-oz ribeye. The food came with 3-4 side dishes, but we didn't eat those. I forgot what they were. Pricing: It is competitive with other local hot pot and BBQ. They do have a $15/lbs fee for wasting food. They have rules written on their menu. Parking: Free parking that is shared with other businesses on the strip.

One of the best things is that you can raise the food from the broth so you don't have to dig for it. We ended up trying almost everything plus some apps (also included). There are some guidelines on the table for how long to cook the food and they are somewhat accurate. Some of the vegetables took longer and some of the meat should have been shorter but we finally caught on. We loved the multitude of mushroom options. And the seafood was very good. The spicy broth is indeed spicy (not MN hot - spicy). We cooked many items in spicy and then mixed that and another broth for our bowls. That worked great. Parking in the lot really fills up in the evening.

Once seated, your greeted with a tall cold glass of water, a small cup for your complimentary hot tea. The menu is a bit large so I recommend maybe reviewing it prior to sitting or coming in to eat, to help save time and not feel rushed to order. I ordered the lobster sticky rice plate. It's a seasonally priced item on their menu. As of April 5th, the price was around $72.00 for a full lobster. It was steamed I think, then what I find odd but unique is the chef chopped up the lobster while still in it's shell then mixed the sticky rice and scrambled eggs with it, onto a large serving plate. It looks nice and delicious. I thought the lobster would've been de-shelled. So if you don't want to mess with the lobster shell maybe ask if they can exclude it from your dish. Highly recommend eating here, the prices are decent on the regular things and the food tastes awesome!
