We were walking from the parking garage north of st. Genevieve and could hear the music blaring. Poor apartment owners. Not to mention the bartender seemed very out of it. She just lazily handed my tab back to me without even looking at me or saying 'thanks'. Never coming here again. Over priced drinks, inattentive bar staff, and crazy loud music. Service is good, but they hit the gong way too much. Super annoying. probably the reason the bar is full of dudes, because chicks really don't dig the gong (unless they are hitting it, or banging one of the bartenders a.k.a "Hittin' it") The fact that the bar attracts "Bro's" is not the bars fault, so I will not take off any stars for that. Horrible bar. Some friends and I went to celebrate our last week together. All of us got into the bar until our last friend came up. The security guard wouldn't let him in because he was "sagging." Another friend of ours proceeded to ask why not let him in? It's too easy to let him in if you ask him to pull his pants up! The guard then kicked out my other friend. End result. Head to Dogwood. It's much more cleaner, friendly, and better. This is coming from all military personnel. Don't head to Kung Fu if you know what's good for you. read more

Still the same racist crap they got in trouble for. I am black. I came with a group of friends after work. I stepped through a throng of hammered white customers. A white guy bartender and a red flash shirt with a long brown beard proceeds to act like I'm drunk after 1 drink. My tab was $5.50. I hadn't had a drink for an hour and a half from the previous bar after my non-black friends had had several. I left after this guy gave me a water without me asking assuming I was drunk and my friends told me he thought I was drunk and was about to kick me me out. I closed my tab. My family is in law enforcement and after having to step around white drunks that spilled drinks close to me I will NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. This pace is still racist. read more

Good drinks and had fun playing games. Bartenders were great. Didn't have a problem with the dress code or the noise level for the 2 hours we were there. However the bouncer clearly has an attitude problem. While im waiting for a friend to close out the tab we playfully knocked the top of some Jenga blocks over on the patio. Before we could even pick them up the bouncer lost his you know what and told us we needed to leave. Bit of an overreaction looks bad on the business. read more

I came here because I'm a huge fan of the king fu saloon in Houston. I was going to try the one in downtown Austin but I noticed this was closer to where I was staying. So I went there order a couple drinks and some food when to play games and noticed it wasn't free :/ I was shocked because the houston one is free game play on almost every game. So I ask the bar tender and found out it's only free on sundays :/ so I was disappointed but still wanted to play so I paid for a couple games just because it's hard to go to an arcade and not play PAC man. Over all I was very disappointed with this place either the games should be free or the drinks should be cheaper. Even the fried pickles were a let down. The only good thing about this place was the location there's several bars and a couple clubs to go to right next to each other. Actually discovered 77 degrees that's to my bad experience at king fu saloon so I'm happy about that because I think that place will be my new go to hookah bar when in town. That's the only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. read more

Some of the bars in the Red Rose area are blah, nice looking but blah. However This isn't the case. I like it here...it has a young enough feel to it so you can Hang and actually have fun if you are in your twenties. It also has an old enough feel so you can chill and vibe if you are older. I'm in my 20's but I normally hang out with older friends and I am very mature. That said, the crowd is really cool on Sunday's. The bar Is clean. The DJ is pretty good, ( sometimes you have to ask him to slow down on the techno) and allowed me to request a song. The bartenders are all nice and down to earth. At most Bars I've been to, Bartenders seem to be annoyed as the establishment becomes busier but not here. The ladies were able to take requests from my friends, myself and other customers as well. You don't have to shimmy your way through people to get to the bar. There are arcade games available which can get very fun...the restrooms are Clean. The wings aren't that good but I am not sure about the other menu items. Overall I like it here... I want to see what else they have on the menu... Any suggestions ? read more

Last night was my first time visiting this place. My sister and I wanted to hangout at the Domain so we ended up here. It was a pretty decent atmosphere, clean with tentative wait staff. What I didn't like was that after a certain hour, all of the tables and chairs are moved off the floor, whether you were sitting at them or not, to make it standing room only for dancing. I don't drink but I do love to eat! They have this amazing appetizer called the cheese burger egg roll.....omg it's served with this spicy ranch dipping sauce, I couldve had more and more but it's summer time and I'm on a diet lol. They were so worth the three pounds I probably gained eating them. You gotta try them. The environment was cool too. We went during the day so it wasn't crowded. Jenga at every table was cool too. After one of my friends was mistreated at 77 Degrees because he a different race than me, we decided to come to Kung Fu. We are happy to have walked across the street to a much better establishment. The service was much better, the drinks were very good, and we had a great time. the staff treated our group very nice. We ended the night having a good night. Great location, and the games are always a plus when out drinking with friends. However, the music is pretty loud for a place without a dance floor, so don't go there with the expectation to chill. Bartenders were friendly, and the drinks were good. However, Rock Rose has a lot to offer, so I would prefer one of the less crowded and quieter bars. read more

We went here last night as the first stop for my sister's bachelorette party. My sister and I got there first so we grabbed a drink and went to one of the tables with the giant jenga out on the patio. All the girls are grabbing their drink as they arrive and joining us at the table. After everyone is there we flag down the waitress and one of the girls orders 7 shots of fireball for the table. The shots arrive and we take them, then all start gagging as we realize that what they have given us is 7 shots of their well bourbon, which was a shock since we were expecting fireball. We call the waitress over and tell her she gave us the wrong shots. She then decides that the correct action to take here is to argue and say that that's what we ordered. Keep in mind, this was our first stop and everyone has had one drink, so nobody is drunk, and we all distinctly heard her say fireball. The waitress goes back inside, then comes out with one shot of fireball and brings it to my sister. She says the manager told her they won't do anything about the shots being wrong, because we drank them, but that they will give us one free fireball. My sister then tells the waitress that she needs to be speaking to the person who ordered, not her. The waitress says fine, she'll send out a manager to talk to her, then walks away. I guess she didn't want to talk to her herself. The manager comes out and repeats what she said, we drank the shots so they won't do anything for us. The girl who ordered, Karen, says yes, of course we drank them, they are just shots, you don't know a shot is wrong until you shoot it. He said fine, he would change it to fireball on our tab then. Karen points out that fireball is more expensive, so now what he's saying is that he will charge us more for something we didn't have. At that point he caves, takes the bourbon off the check, charges us for a round of fireball, then sends out our shots. We decided at that point that we would take this as a sign to close out and move to our next destination. We've all waited tables, we know things happen, but we also know that arguing with the table after you've messed up is never the way to go. None of us will be returning. read more

The brunette bartender needs an attitude adjustment, she works Saturday afternoons (and quite honestly, she is not a Domain-quality bartender she is pretty low-class looking. So, I go in to order a to-go order of chicken wings from "her". And she tried so hard to seem cool, and correct my terminology when ordering wings. I asked for plain wings with sauce on the side. And she proceeded to correct me, and say that's actually called "naked". Actually "naked" wings means un-breaded, I laughed so hard in my head, I really didn't feel like getting into it with someone that was trying so hard, but she obviously is not part of the domain-community, and not a resident here, so I guess that sort of behavior is expected from that type of individual. She obviously didn't know what she was talking about it, but like the little child that she was acting like, you just have to let ignorance be. read more

We had a party of 8 with one visiting from out of town, after dinner we headed to the domain to have drinks, someone recomended we go to Kung Fu saloon. I'm from Austin and know their reputation of being rude to minorities. Well wouldn't you know our only water drinking friend of the party was denied at the door with the explanation of, "you can't come in, your swaying" looks like you had to much to drink. I would give this place a zero or a negative if it would let me. My husband and I have tried to get in here three times, and all three times they gave him a different reason/excuse why they couldn't let him in...the first time he had on slip on sandals...they told him that they don't allow sandals, however, as we looked inside, tons of people had on flip flops...the second time he wore shoes, now all of a sudden his shorts were too long...third time he wore shoes and jeans and now all of a sudden his jeans were too baggy...three strikes...the problem was never his attire, the problem was his skin color. He was "too black" and didn't fit the description of the type of people they want inside their establishment. I was dressed in very nice Tommy Bahamas tshirt and shorts and was not allowed in. The bouncer laughed at me and said they had a dress code and I was no where close to it. I think it had more to do with my age of 68. There were people in old jeans and tshirts but younger that were in there. It isn't like it is a high class place. If it wasn't for the laugh I would have been fine with it but he was quite rude. He just needed to say something like shorts are not allowed or something like that. read more

I never ever write reviews but I have special spot in my heart for this place.If you want rotten limes for your vodka soda this is your place! save yourself the time head next door and you can actually have a clean glass and a fresh lime in your drink!. I find it hard to believe that the manager who lurks around all night long, fails to see his rotten produce that he serves to customers. I was very disappointed in my experience I had with the Kungfoo Saloon and their staff. We were on vacation from MN to visit Austin! We HAD heard some good things about this establishment! We decided to make a visit for a drink during our shopping trip @3 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. It was me, my spouse, my two year old, and our friends who have a 2 month old. We sat down on the patio and ordered drinks. Before our drinks came but not before they took our credit card, a staff member came and asked us to leave because of the children. They said they "think it's bar rules and kids aren't allowed because there are adults that are drinking that could result in an incident". So, apparently there is a no children policy that is not posted anywhere on their site or Facebook page! This is not family friendly location at anytime of the day! Very awkward encounter all together! There are other places on that strip that are more accommodating with better atmosphere. read more

If you want a laid back but fun vibe with great service, definitely check out Kung Fu at Rock Rose. Whenever I head to the Domain this is the first stop I make and where I usually end up heading back to before the night is over. Everyone is welcoming and the bartenders bust their butts to serve you quickly... you don't have to worry about waiting for 10 minutes until a bartender decides to pay attention to you. DJs are always good, Jenga blocks are prepped and ready for some friendly competition, TVs always have games on, and the bathrooms are always clean (which is a big perk for us girls). Definitely a place I'll keep frequenting. read more

The music is way to loud! I really want to enjoy the bar but I can't talk to my friend when I'm there. We left after one drink because it was impossible to hold a conversation and went to the bar across the street. To our surprise, we could still hear the music coming from Kung Fu.
