I came to get a matcha boba tea and was really disappointed for the amount that they charged $5.25 I expected something edible at least. I've never had to leave a bad review anywhere before but this tea was terrible. It left a mealy film in the mouth, was grainy, tasted like chemicals, and was somehow extremely sweet and extremely bitter at the same time. I wanted so badly to post an awesome review, but a day later I'm still pretty annoyed. I was craving some boba tea so trusty yelp sent me here, it's right in the hustle and bustle of university heights but parking was actually pretty easy. I entered and there was actually only one person ahead of me so I assumed it would be in and out. Ordering was a little complicated and the girl at the counter didn't even offer assistance until about 5 minutes of me staring at the menu. I ordered their Kung fu milk tea, with 50% sweetener and bubbles. $4, not too shabby HOWEVER after waiting 23 minutes for a freaking tea I was beyond done. Out of nowhere a rush came in and they were horribly understaffed. They had ONE person making the teas, the girl on the register just staring into oblivion; and then a guy making the bowls, most of the people were no doubt in there for the tea but it should go in the order in which you came in yes? NO. Four people who came in well after I did got their drinks almost immediately and I watched the guy continue to just grab random cups in no sort of order. Annoyed is an understatement. It's a Friday, the beginning of a semester at both CWRU and CSU and you're understaffed? Terrible planning on managements part, and my milk was actually warm, I had very little bubbles and it was too sweet even after asking for 50% sweetener. I liked the iPad kiosk ordering station for boba tea and the teriyaki bowls. It was a little confusing that if you wanted to order sushi you had to also then go in line to order. Always a fun time stopping in for boba when I am up in the area. My favorite drinks there are the coconut milk tea, or the passion fruit green tea! I always am sure to add boba and nata jelly to mine as well. My favorite things about the tea is that it is never too sweet or powdery (a downfall that many tea places face) and the jelly always taste fresh. The service is always fast and friendly too, which is always an added bonus. Drinks here run from about 4-6 dollars depending on what you add, but for me this is an average bubble tea price. If I lived closer to this place I would make a point to study here because the atmosphere seems great for getting some real work done too. Yay! Real Asian bubble tea! So, I never have actually been to a Kung Fu Tea (as it's a chain), so I don't know how it compares to others. Sure, I still wish for like the 200 flavor places in Richmond Hills, but hey, this is CLE. However, I was happy an authentic tea place opened up in university circle! With Kenko (a build your own sushi bar) right next to it, Kung Fu Tea is located in a great location for Case students. For those who work around the area, it's still good location as well. :) I ordered the longan red date tea, regular ice, half sweetness, nata jelly. The tea was good, the jelly as well. I found it to be a tad too sweet to my liking (maybe they forgot the half sweetness?) but hey, I don't ever add sugar to my coffee, so I'm a different one. We'll be back to try the different flavors. Good assortment of teas (citron, taro, oolong, white gourd, yogurt grapefruit), so it'll be interesting. And I'll probably order mine with less sugar next time too.. But overall, probably the best place in CLE to grab some Asian bubble tea most definitely! read more

I've had Kung Fu Tea in many cities - the motherland included! - so I was pumped they were coming here to my hometown of Cleveland . I am pretty pleased that the tea taste is on par to my expectations. Definitely would venture here over any other place for bubble tea. The last time I went was rough but they were good sports about it. At first they made the wrong drink, fixed it, then I dropped my correct drink, and then they so kindly made it again! Good service Flavors I enjoy: Thai iced tea, taro, ANYTHING RED BEAN!!!, plain ole milk tea, or almond. Toppings: boba (duh), oreo, RED BEANS, and sometimes pudding if I am feeling fat. I've tried bubble tea from so many places in Cleveland, and I think Kung Fu tea may have been the most consistent in terms of quality, and the choice to adjust sugar and ice level is the most true to the bubble tea experience you'd expect from Taiwan. Plus, the self-ordering system is really cool! KoKo Bakery cooks their bubbles the best, but their tea is mediocre. Fusion Cafe has the BEST quality tea hands down, but their bubbles is inconsistent. Pacific East and SzuChuan Gourmet are both inconsistent with bubble tea. read more

East Coast bubble tea has arrived in Cleveland! Like others have mentioned, Cleveland has been super slow on the uptake for bubble tea. My husband was so happy that KFT opened that we joke his quality of life in Cleveland improved by 38%. We've tried KFT in Boston and other locations, and this location is comparable. (I did peek inside the San Mateo location once and was horrified at how small and dirty it was! How can you allow it to be part of your franchise?) The interior is super modern and spacious with large LED screens for the menu. Plenty of seating inside and outside on their patio. It's a part of Kenko, which is a local fast Japanese casual place that franchised KFT. I don't care much for Kenko - I just skip right to the boba. KFT is free of the super sugary high fructose corn syrup. They also do their bubbles right! You can also customize how you like. I usually do less ice, half sugar, and less bubbles. My favorite flavors are the oolong tea. I also tried the yakult and it's so good! read more

Wow! You don't know how happy I am to find a legit franchise bubble tea place in Cleveland, and it had to be Kung Fu Tea !! Originally from Georgia, you expect bubble tea to be everywhere, but unfortunately Cleveland only have one place, and it's called Koko Bakery. Koko Bakery can't even be compared to no other bubble tea places in Georgia though . I'm just happy that my favorite drink taste really good just like home back in Georgia . Regardless how hard it is to find a parking spot, the long drive, and even though they have a big staff, which is too much for a place not so big , I will be coming back for my bubble tea craving !! read more

I will try to be as fair as possible grading a Boba tea place in Cleveland. Went to the museums nearby, haven't had a boba tea in a long time so decided to grab one here. I had Kung Fu tea before in different cities, I assume a decent size chain the standard should be there. They do not have the normal boba, along with a list of items, I didn't pay too much attention to it, so I got the mini coffee boba. It was my mistake, it had some very sweet coffee syrup in it, I assume is like normal boba but with some coffee taste to it. The cashier was very friendly and granted my request for switching it to mini boba. However, the milk tea was still subpar, watered down and cost over $5. I easy 2 stars if the store is in Calfornia, I will jsut leave it at A-OK. read more

I went here for bubble tea with a friend. My friend got mango green tea punch (comes with mango coconut jelly) and I got lychee punch (comes with lychee pieces!) They were both yummy but a bit pricey. Once I added bubbles and nata jelly (which is so good) it came up to $5.00 (add 50 cents each "topping"). You can choose your sugar and ice levels and add more toppings if you like. I haven't tried the food yet but it smelled really good! P.S. studied here for a while. They have big tables to study at with lots of outlets. The music plays kind of loudly and sometimes you hear the blenders making drinks so that might bother you. This is my favorite tea place in Cleveland without a doubt. A few notes for the pros: 1) Skip the slushie options. There's too much ice and it dilutes the awesome flavor of Kung Fu tea IMO. 2) Don't be limited to just bubbles! You can get coconut jelly, herbal jelly, red beans, etc. Mix it up a little! 3) Are you the kind of person that hates sweet drinks? Modify your drink by asking for less sugar, less ice, more milk, etc. This place does customization right with an actual scale for sweetness so they won't have to guess when you say you want it "less sweet" 4) Pop in the right lane immediately if you're only getting tea (the left lane is for sushi, AKA Kenko- confusing I know!) Or better yet, use their self-ordering computers at the front. (personally I never got used to using those... I think I've read too many dystopian novels) 5) Try a new flavor! I was pleased how many unique flavors KFT has, and you might surprise yourself how much you like mung bean or taro! My personal favorite is the coconut milk tea (tastes so much like real coconut milk!) but I try to switch it up so I don't always get the same thing. Overall I don't think you'll be disappointed with the quality at KFT, the only downside is the long wait since it's a campus area joint, it's always crowded, but the good news is there is plenty of comfy seating including high tops, booths and couches. read more

Being from Taiwan, KFT is average at best, but the best Cleveland has to offer. Personally, I think the tea (black and green) can be quite bitter at times, especially when I order non-milk drinks with only half sugar. Also, the sweetness of the tapioca tastes somewhat artificial. Lastly, the price for all drinks have been upped by $0.50 since the beginning of the year, which was unnecessary and very disappointing, given the fact that there's almost no competition in the area. read more

Their terriyaki chicken is so good. They also have a good range of bubble teas so if you're into that, come here. Their place is really clean and they have a few self-checkouts (card only) where you can order without standing in line.
