    Sesame Slush

We were supposed to the be only headed to the post office but my wife tricked me with a last minute trip to Kung fu tea. I was bribed with a sesame slushie which provides a refreshing, cool, nutty flavor. We enjoyed our drinks on our ride home and I was pretty much done by the time we arrived. I'm sure we'll be back since my wife is addicted to boba tea and she always gets her way lol. As long as she treats me, I guess I'm down for it.

Wide variety of menu options to build your own drink

My husband and I love boba tea, so when people told us about Kung Fu tea, we knew we had to try them out. Since we were in the area, we decided to stop in and give them a try. When you first find them, they're a little hole in the wall shop with a few tables on each side of the restaurant. There were a few college student with laptops out working but it was still fairly quiet. There isn't a whole lot of room so people are up against the wall or in chairs while waiting for their order. I was stuck choosing what I wanted so when it came time to order, the staff were very kind to help me choose between the two I was debating on. They have the option for you to tip on your card so you don't have to worry about cash tip. They had some interesting snacks you can grab too to go. They had our drinks up very quickly. My husband got the taro slush with pudding which was thick like a dessert but not overly sweet. It was so delicious! I got the lychee black tee with berry crystal bubbles. It was very sweet but very good! It had a lot of fruit in the bottom and the bubbles gave it a nice pop. I love that you can build your own drinks and if you are new or don't know where to start, they have plenty of places to start. We will definitely be back with the rest of our family. It's a great option for a drink or if you want dessert but not anything too heavy.

This was my first time there and the menu is a little overwhelming but they have yummy flavorful drinks.

Ordered the coffee milk tea with bursting coffee bubbles...so good and refreshing. First time getting bursting balls and I like them!!!

Taro Milk Tea. It's made with powdered creamer, not actual milk.

The slushes here are pretty good. HOWEVER, I can confidently say that their Taro Milk tea is the nastiest that I've ever had, and I love Taro. I even had it on separate occasions just in case the first time I had it was a fluke. Their's tasted like bitter tea and thick froot loop cereal milk that sat out for a while. If you like that kinda thing, go for it but just know other places make it better.

Richmond Ice Creamery ice cream available at Kung Fu Tea

We went the Ramen Spot next door and had to get some Bubble Tea right after. This is located across the street on grace from Edo's Squid. I've been to a Kung Fu Tea in northern Virginia so I was excited to get my favorite Rose Hip Milk Tea. Super yummy if you like sweet and tangy flavors and of course bubble tea with tapioca balls. My only complaint with this location is that some of the tea flavors already have the full amount of sugar added. The beauty of Kung Fu Tea is that you can request less sugar in your drinks which is my go to and less ice. I was a little bummed the Rose Hip Milk Tea was mixed already... but regardless it was still delicious and hit the spot for my bubble tea craving. In addition to that, there are also ice creams available from the Richmond Ice Creamery. Got my daughter cookies and cream which she loved. The store also allowed all of us to have tastings of the ice cream. We had thai ice tea, coconut, taro and the Vietnamese coffee.... honestly all were good but all of us agreed the Vietnamese coffee was the best. Anyway so fun, can't wait to go back again!

Strawberry lemonade green tea with bubbles

I love this place for a quick bubble tea lemonade. The two sizes are perfect, medium and large and are very reasonably priced. I've tried several places and no one has made the strawberry lemonade green tea this good. In fact, it was so good I left, drank it and came back to buy one to go for home. Yes,..its that good !

Updating my review because of bad customer service... I go to this location frequently, like I get a drink every week or so. I got a wrong drink today. I get it, it's busy at night time. I ordered a drink with full sugar and no ice and received a drink with less sugar with ice. I went back in to tell them about the wrong order. I literally saw them take my drink, pour some of it out, put a new lid on it. The cashier then had the audacity to tell me that I "took someone else's drink". My call number was the right number on my cup. I would've been alright if they just added sugar, but they ended up being really rude about it. Other kung fu tea locations will remake your drink if it's wrong, I'm not sure why this location will make up excuses if it's wrong.

I've had KFT quite a few times since it has opened in Richmond, and I have to say that it has been my favorite of the local bubble tea options in Richmond. First of all, I like the option to alter the amount of sugar, the type of toppings, or whether you would like your drink hot or cold. My favorites are the honey milk tea, taro tea, and the winter melon tea! I would definitely suggest pairing these with the Nata Jelly.

Our second time here. The drinks are amazing, with so many to choose from. There was a line of people ahead of me but the three employees cleared it quickly, maybe faster than Starbucks baristas even! The only hard part is the street parking to get here if you are driving.

When they say "dogs allowed", does that include inside?

    Yes

Can I get a peach green tea made with FRESH fruit with strawberry POPPING boba here? I just moved to va-fl &used to go to shaka shaka tea house. Since moving I have not found a place. alot of places use powders/syrups tht arent natural/healthy😭

They have grape, coffee and sometimes mango popping bubbles, but not strawberry. Unfortunately, they also don't have any fresh fruit.

I tried to go here to check it out but is it really closed on Saturdays?

No, you probably tried to come here when they were on vacation.

Calming spot to grab a treat, get some work done/journal, or catch up with friends in an aesthetic and modern cafe. Ordered the paradise tea with mango and avocado. The ambiance was clean and orderly. Upon entering, you grab a serving tray lined with parchment and some tongs. I settled on the pistachio cream filled pecan pastry, the almond twist, and strawberry shortcake. The beverage menu was extensive: matcha, flavored teas, cocoa, espresso/coffee, and more. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. All were fresh. All in all, a great place to stop by for a morning pastry treat and tea/coffee while in the area,

It is fast casual - you order at the kiosk and grab a place to eat, listening for your number and/or text to alert you the food is ready. We arrived about 6pm on a Saturday night. It was busy and I grabbed one of the last two tables. It got very busy shortly after we placed our orders. The dining area is pretty big with plenty of bar seating around the windows. While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. Two friends enjoyed the collards. The only person who was underwhelmed was the person who got the Asian sandwich. We walked in to find the staff bustling, cooking, and prepping orders, and the smell of some delicious fried chicken in the air. I saw the kiosks and was not too thrilled with the Wawa experience, but we gave it a shot anyway, since fried chicken is one of our favorites. The process was simple and allowed us to add or remove anything we could want, so that was nice. While walking to find a seat, we saw a person panhandling in the dining area, but the staff promptly removed him from the premises. I ordered us the Pimento Cheese Balls for an appetizer, and I chose the Fried Chicken and French Toast as my entree because I always try the "chicken and waffles" at every establishment that offers it. My partner ordered the OG Chicken Sandwich without tomato, and it came with crinkle-cut fries. It was about $40. The chef proclaimed our order was ready in quick succession, maybe three orders behind the guests before us. We waited about ten minutes, maybe fifteen at most. We picked up the orders from the counter, and there was a mix-up on the syrup, but the chef promptly rectified the situation. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy; straight to the point. He seemed firm, yet kind. It was clear the day had been a busy one; he even told us as much, which was great to hear (busy = fantastic food). The French toast squares looked like rye or pumpernickel, and they emitted a sweet aroma, a delightful hit of cinnamon and brown sugar. I drizzled the caramel syrup on my chicken and toast, sliced a piece, and paired a bite of chicken with the toast. I closed my eyes to savor the flavors: the toast was crunchy and almost gooey (yet, not overly so), the chicken was crunchy, the sweet cinnamon-y flavors from the toast, the caramel from the syrup, and the tender, moist chicken were a match made in culinary art. I cannot sufficiently describe the French toast in a way that would do it justice; it was crunchy and semi-gooey, and all scrumptious. I can only say it was the single best French toast that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Next, I tried the fried pimento cheese balls. Oh my. If you like mozzarella sticks, try these. I adored them: elevated fried cheese, for real. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well; she ate everything except some of her fries. I saved half of my chicken and toast for today because I am like a treasure golem when it comes to delicious leftovers. I am going to air-fry the chicken and skillet-heat the toast back to its original goodness. I told the cooks that that was the best French toast that I have ever had, and I mean it. Do yourself a favor and try it if you're into French toast. This one is the GOAT. Side note: I spoke with the head chef outside, and he is from another branch (possibly Henrico?) to whip this location back into shape. Two words: "Nailed it."

As anyone can see by my other reviews, I give a lot of 4 and 5-star ones, and am generally not a complainer. When I rate something low, there's really a reason. There was nothing for me to like about this place. First, there was no signage to speak of. It wasn't real easy to find. I didn't even know I had found the right place until I saw the name of the place on the bags of coffee. When I came in, it was a cold feeling, not a friendly one. Every person I dealt with behind the counter wasn't warm or inviting. I got the feeling that they felt I "should have known" where to order, and "should have known" where to wait, or to pick up my coffee. I got a takeout hot coffee but had to interrupt and kindly ask for a lid. And when I did I got a vibe like I was an irritation or something.
