Pleasantly surprised by this little place tucked into a relatively newer part of town. We were on our way to BNA and this came up in route. Sushi: Just a tad pricey on the outskirts of a large town, but overall all rolls seemed to deliver. I had the Ikura(Salmon Roe) which was good, rainbow roll good as well and the Josh Roll that is a massive roll and could easily be the only one ordered to fill you up. Coworker had a bunch of simple rolls and we had plenty left over. Service: Pretty solid with a young waitstaff always smiling. Only complaint would be the hot tea served in a "plunger" pot, is new for me. Typically it's in a more traditional pot. The teapot also didnt seem to have enough tea. So my first introduction to Japanese food was in Japan, while I was stationed in a near by country. The bar was set high. Very high. And I have spent most of my life living in ocean front communities, where fresh seafood was more abundant and less expensive than just about any other protein. You bought it off the boat, before noon, or it wasn't considered fresh. The folks are nice, the service is timely. For being in the middle of TN, in place where it's not food if it's not fried, and cooking Asian style rice happens about as often as folks pay income tax, this place gets a very solid 4 stars. My only beef? They could use less salt I am thinking. When I am in the mood for Japanese food and I am in its area, Kuramoto in my Go To place. I am pretty sure you'll like it, too! read more

For our neighbors, we took them out to eat for our Christmas gift to them. We let their youngest children pick the place and they chose Kuramoto in Pleasant View. This was everyone's first time eating here and while the food was delicious, the service was lacking. We came in as a party of 10 and I called ahead to reserve a table at 5pm and our table was ready when we arrived. This is a small restaurant and I didn't count how many tables they had, but it was slow when we got there and packed with people waiting when we were leaving. I love how you can substitute soups or salad for a spring roll. I also like the fact that you can get the hot and sour soup instead of the "regular" miso soup. I highly recommend trying that hot and sour soup! It was so good. Everybody's food looked good except 1 person that ordered the tempura fish. We're all halfway through with our food and he finally got his meal. I ordered the Seafood Stone Bowl. It came out sizzling and those bowls hold heat for a long time. If you don't get busy mixing up the rice from the bottom, it will get hard and crunchy. I LOVED my food and I can hardly wait to go back for more! I would've given 5 stars if everybody got their food when they're supposed to. And I hate when servers come to your table auctioning off plates. These children didn't know what their food was supposed to look like, since coming here was their first "Japanese" restaurant experience. And coming out of the kitchen with plates and asking who had what is tacky and can easily be handled with 5 minutes of training. Seriously, if you wanna come up with a system of turning in orders and food delivery to tables without auctioning plates, I'll be happy to come in and share my knowledge with you. read more

We came around 930 right before closing (felt bad). The waitress was incredibly sweet and informative, especially when it came to my boyfriend's gluten allergy. The food was amazing. The udon soup reminded me of home (I'm from Hawaii) and it did not disappoint. I've been to Asian restaurants and the udon was not authentic. I got the vegetable tempura udon and they had all the veggies that normally come with an authentic Japanese udon. I was also craving soft shell crab rolls and if you haven't had it before, you'll probably like it. The breading wasn't that good because they used flour and it normally is fried in panko but the soft shell crab itself was great! I got the volcano roll because I love spicy ahi and it was pretty good as well! Would order it again. Can't wait to try the Kuramoto roll! :) (one of my favorite rolls are spicy ahi and shrimp tempura). My boyfriend was able to get a spicy ahi hand roll (gluten free) and he loved it! This is a small town sushi joint. I would say average priced for a sushi place. The small town vibe check is the same with the service. The waiters are all great. The area is a nicer more recently developed section of an otherwise small country town. Now the sushi. I've eaten a lot of spots all over the greater Nashville area. The quality is much higher than an all you can eat or an "Ichiban" Their sushi is beautifully made and wonderfully fresh. If you're going for all you eat value stick to sushi train or sushi kingdom. Wife and I tried this spot for the first time. We got there about an hour before close on a Saturday. There was only one other table there. We ordered 3 sushi rolls and an order of general tso. Food came out pretty quickly. They did forget the spring rolls but by the time the server came to check on us we had forgotten about them so we never got them. The rolls were delicious! My favorite was the Bai (I think that's what it was called) the general Tsos was ok. Seemed a little over fried and hard but still good. Could have used a bit more sauce. The server was friendly. They started flipping all the chairs over about 30 min before close. The other table must have been friends of the server, she spent a lot of time talking with them to where when we were ready to go and ask for boxes and the check we actually had to go get her because we had been waiting a while. Same thing when we were ready to pay. Other than that she was really great! We would come back here, maybe earlier in the day so they aren't closing up around us. read more

I am so sorry to report that after giving this restaurant two tries on different days for 2 different dishes I would not go back. Given that this is the only Asian restaurant in pleasant view, it is sad but I would stick with other American eateries in this area for now. Let me tell you what happened. Due to COVID they do not offer eat-in whatsoever, which was good and made me feel safe. They do have outdoor tables for self-seating after you pick up your own food though, you just won't get any service. The first time I bought their fried rice, but I was shocked because I had never had a plate of fried rice that had virtually nothing in it (it was not a side, it was an entree). The second time I tried for their salmon teriyaki for lunch, the portion was small and sad, it came with some rice and a cup of soup but it was the smallest cup I had ever seen, they even put my rice in a small water cup which left me questioning life. For an $11 lunch, I was left hungry and confused. Needless to say, I will not come back. read more

I have frequented Kuramoto for about a year now. They're the only place in PV that offers sushi and Japanese. I've never really had an issue with their food before. Some of it has been underwhelming but nothing outright bad. I had an issue a little over a month ago where they misplaced my order and it took another 45 minutes to get it out to me. I still left a very generous tip, as it was the first time anything like that had happened, and they also gave me two $5 coupons for the trouble. Tonight I ordered food for my family including beef teriyaki no veg with plain fried rice for my husband. This was the second time I ordered this dish. Aside from the fried rice missing from the order, the beef teriyaki we received tonight was COMPLETELY different than the one we got the first time. The one we received before was a decent helping of meat with a thick sauce and rice. Whatever we got tonight was 5-6 very small pieces of meat with 3 pieces of broccoli, 3 button mushrooms, and 2 slices of zucchini in some kind of beef broth. The entire contents of the tray fit into the small cup the side soups came in. For $14, that's completely unacceptable. I called to see if I could come back and get the rice and to find out where the mixup with the beef teriyaki was. After a ton of back and forth, I was told I could come get the rice with no solution to the beef dish. After more back and forth between the lady on the phone and whomever she was talking to, I finally just told them to give me whatever dish they had that was closest to the one I had previously received with more meat and I would pay for it with the coupon that I still had from the first mess up. Despite ordering several more times after received the restaurant credit, I've never used it because I like to support local businesses. I was put on the phone with another lady and at this point I was just frustrated. I cut her off, told her to never mind, that I just wouldn't be back to their establishment. I can't believe that after telling them I'd pay for another dish I was still being argued with. As much as it sucks, I'll be going to Springfield or Clarksville for any further sushi cravings. Edit: I completely forgot to add that when I was told I could come get the rice and asked what the solution for my beef teriyaki dish was, I was asked if the veggies were the problem. I responded that yes, it was one of the issues with the dish. I was told I could BRING THE DISH BACK TO THEM AND THEY WOULD PICK OUT THE VEGGIES FOR ME. read more

I am on a liquid diet and came here yesterday by a recommendation. I was on the go so I just grabbed the soup and left. Today, I was with my husband we came 30 minutes out of the way, it is take out only. They said because they don't have enough staff. But tables block off the restaurant, I wasn't allowed to use the restroom. They told us to stand outside and wait to receive a text for our food? Honestly had I not just paid for my food I would have just left. I won't be back. This is not a business looking for repeat business. Having been able to experience some amazing sushi in the past, I was a little hesitant (because it's in the country) and excited (because it's close to our house). I ordered some typical rolls on my first visit and then branched out in visits after that. We ended up asking our waitress some questions and a manager came out to answer them. She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and made great recommendations (what we wanted they no longer carried much of because it wasn't selling). We had a pleasant experience and will be back! From the Sweet tea to the Shrimp Tempura to my Beef Teriyaki the meal was superb! It comes with Miso soup and a salad as well. Side of vegetables and white rice (Although do what we did and pay the 2.00 extra for the Fried rice. You'll have enough left over for lunch the day after). Service was excellent as well.
