I have been going to this Kwik Kar for years, and though I have had miscommunications in the past with what work on my car needs to be done or has been done, this location is now under new management and seems to be very streamlined now. They keep great records of their previous work on serviced vehicles, and I am in and out for an oil change in fifteen minutes. The mechanics are very friendly and knowledgable. They replaced my brake pads, and my brakes went completely out on the freeway at 65MPH less than two hours later! The technician put a loop in my brake line and it was rubbing right on the wheel. They are incompetent and they almost killed me. Their response after I wrote them a complaint was "mistakes happen." read more

Never. Coming. Here. AGAIN! Came to this place for a state inspection. It was the first I've had with this place. I have a 2013 car model- so pretty new and never an issue. Was told by Kwik Kar that my vehicle would not pass inspection unless I purchase a $20 gas cap from them, since supposedly my manufacturer-issued gas cap didn't pass the emissions test. Thought that was SO weird; but I'm a female, so what the heck do I know about cars, right? I ended up leaving the place paying about $45 (with gas cap, inspection, and taxes). About a week or so later, my check-engine light turned on. Since I was due to get my brakes replaced at the Subaru dealership, I went ahead and had Subaru evaluate why the check-engine light was on. Apparently, the after-market gas cap sold to me by Kwik Kar was causing the check-engine light to go on-- Something about the car sensing there was a valve leak through the gas cap. I told them my situation with Kwik Kar, and Subaru said that they would gladly replace the original for free if it was truly a defect from Subaru's end. They did charge me to replace the after-market gas cap; but said that if I was able to get my original back from Kwik Kar that they would refund me. They gave me back the after-market cap as well, and said that maybe Kwik Kar will issue a refund from their end too since it was obviously triggering my check-engine light. I contacted Kwik Kar, and was told that they will refund it, but that I would have to come in the next day when their "reimbursement person" was in the office. I came in the next day to the most rude servicemen ever. They automatically got on the defense, saying that Subaru can't prove anything, and that it was a "he said, he said" situation. Then when I asked them for my original gas cap so I can get Subaru to refund me for replacing the after-market one, they said they threw it away. They were trying so hard for me to find fault in the Subaru dealership, saying it was Subaru that screwed me for charging me so much. Kwik Kar did not understand that I would have gotten reimbursed by Subaru if they had just given back my faulty (so they say) original manufacturer's gas cap. As I was getting in my car, they yelled out, "Yeah, that's right... come back to us when you're ready for cheaper service!" What establishment does that?! They are rudest, most arrogant and unprofessional auto-repair place I've ever encountered! After doing some research, I found that some places, like Kwik Kar, know that an after-market gas cap will trigger the check-engine light to go on on certain vehicles, so that the driver may possibly return back to their shop just to be told that "other issues" are going on. Now, I don't know for sure if this was the case with Kwik Kar... But it certainly feels like it in my particular situation! read more

These guys are crooks and scammers. My girlfriend took her BMW to them for an inspection. EZ the assistant said it failed due to a power steering issue. She took it back a week later to have it fixed. She paid her $90 and drove off and the battery light was not on and smoke from the engine. She didn't even drive a mile and took it back. EZ said the light should go off and the smell was just fluid burning off. The battery light did not go off and within days the car battery was dead. She took to to EZ who now said the alternator was done for. The alternator is directly below the power steering fluid unit and was covered in burned power steering fluid. EZ said it was only coincidence and that Kwik Kar had nothing to do with it. The car would not start now. We got irate with EZ who demanded we have the car removed or towed within an hour or he would have it towed. We did tow it and it cost her $680 to have a new alternator put in. In addition the brilliant mechanic told my girlfriend that the reason the alternator went out was that she should have had a new one put in when she had a new battery put in 5 months before. If you want to be scammed go to these crooks. If you are a woman who wants to be taken advantage of go to Kwik Kar. If you want to go in for an inspection and be told all manner of problems exist which likely are a fabrication of EZ and his scammer manager Eric, then Kwik Kar is your place. 0 stars if it were possible. read more

This company is a scam!!! NEVER take your car here. I took my car in for an inspection 2 years in a row and every year they said I needed new windshield blades, hmmmm. Also, I recently took my car in for an AC service due to issues with my AC. The cost was $50. They called me to tell me that I would need a new compressor and then entire kit and it would be $820. I told them not to do anything and I would come get my car. When I got there, I told them that I wanted a detailed quote of what they wanted to charge me $820 for. Conveniently they could not produce a written quote because the guy that quoted me that already left. I was there about 15 miunutes after they called me with that quote and he was already gone? I told them I wanted it emailed to me. They had me write my email address down and said I would get it in about an hour. 4 hours passed and I still never received it. I called them and then I get a different story. They tell me they cant get me a quote because they have to have the manager send it to me and they were extremely busy. NOT TRUE!! When I went in to get my car 4 hours earlier, there wasn't a single car in the shop and their workers were sitting outside chatting. THEN I got online, only to find a $20 off coupon for the service I just paid for. They are unethical and should be shut down! Friends, the below reviews are similar to what I experienced. This Kwik Kar is all about coupons and other gimmicks to get you in the door for the oil change or inspection, then their method of operation is to tell you that you need all of these others services. After I took my car there, they gave me that list for my Honda. I did not have those services performed but rather took it to the Honda Dealer and they said none of those services were necessary. I think this Kwik Kar may be a good candidate for me and others to contact the Attorney General's office for fraud investigations. read more

Just got my car inspected here and they tried to get me to change something that has nothing to do with passing the inspection. I said no to that. Then told me I need to change my wiper blades in order to pass the inspection. I said sure. Charged me $24.99 per blade, adding up to around $50 to change my wiper blades on top of the inspection fee. I looked up to see how much my wiper blades would cost and they charged me double that. Very disappointed. Customer service is so so. Some of the guys are nice and some are rude. Ended up spending 3x as much on a car inspection than I usually do. I came to this location because it is close to home. Next time I will drive the distance and go to the location on Preston and Spring Creek. read more

ust don't go to this place, they are totally scam. I took my car to this place 12 months ago for axle replacement. They gave me a very cheap quote. So I said yes. Then they said they needed to replace another axle too and I said ok. After I got my car, there was a sound started coming out from the tires when I was turning my car sharply. It increased a lot in last few months. Two other mechanics said it is an axle/CV joint problem. I took it back yesterday to this place. They mentioned it is a transmission problem, so they are not responsible, how stupid! I got my car back and was going to see another mechanic for CV joints. Either it is my bad luck, a coincidence or what, after about 1 hour I got my car back, my gear cable broke. I spent my whole day to figure out what's going wrong, never had issues with the gears. Experiencing this gear cable issue sounds really fishy, they were the last one who had looked at my transmission and other related parts. Do NOT use this place if you are a woman or have their coupons. I have had more than one bad experience with them because I was stupid enough to go back! Never again! They replaced an oxygen sensor on my car and put the wrong part for my car and caused my catalytic convertor to fail. They did not take responsibility even though they know they caused it. Second time I took my car for inspection sticker where they told me I had mechanical issues with my on board computer because they claimed it would not read my emissions test and I would have to come back when their mechanic was there and they could give me the cost to repair the issue. Not feeling good about what I was told, and my past problems with this location, I went to a different inspection station all together and there was NOTHING wrong with my car! It connected just fine and my car passed inspection. They try to trick women into unneeded repairs. So glad I went to a different place or I would've fallen for expensive repairs I did not need!!! Too bad we have to give them ANY stars! Find another place - they are lazy, unprofessional, sleazy and just out for the money. Went for an inspection as a favor to my son while he was out of town. 10 minutes in, "Hey. Lady. You need wipers." (Seriously - just like that. Guess they figured they had my car in their bay, so being nice stopped at the garage door!) Another 15 minutes later, (keep in mind - it was me and one other lady here; but it was 25 minutes to closing time when I got there) he walks behind the register and "head-lifts" me. I point at myself, "Are you saying it's ready?" "Yea." I get to the register, he says "$63.54." So, I pull out my CC and then he says, "But, I didn't pass it." When I asked why he said it was the tread on the drivers side front tire. Which is fine and I understand that rules are rules. But, he didn't see this when I pulled in? He kept repeating how bad they were. Oh, wait. No money that way, right? And, why not offer to put on the spare or hell, sell me a tire? Because it WAS CLOSING TIME! It was so obvious that these bozos were wanting to leave. And, maybe I expect too much. But if I'd gone to a "Mom & Pop," I'd be willing to bet "Pop" would have pointed that out BEFORE he started. Then I would have gone & gotten a tire and returned - paying him for the inspection and a BIG TIP. Now, I'm obligated to go back to this stupid place because I've paid for the inspection! I've got 15 days to go back for it, but I can't just go to ANY Kwik Kar - I have to go to this one! This was last night. DO NOT GO HERE!!! This place is the biggest ripoff. Had my car inspected here last week and they told me that the gasket was leaking oil and a fire would start and the spark plugs would be ruined. This was just after I had my car serviced at the dealer for its 100,000 mile service maintenance. They would also not accept the $5 off coupon because they "don't do that anymore." Well, how come I got another coupon in the mail today that does not expire until 5-1-15 for the same location? Also, they did not give me the "free car wash with any service" as advertised. DO NOT let them touch your car. I went to them because I had a black film of dust on my front tires. They said my rotors needed to be replaced. So they installed rotors and new brake pads on my car. I knew immediately something was different but thought maybe I was overreacting. Well my brakes had been squeaking for 2 weeks so I finally took it back for an evaluation. The Kwik Kar guy drove my car and said, hold on I'm going to reset your brake pads to the rotors. He drove my car and slammed on the brakes two or three times then said I don't hear them squeaking any more. So I went on my way. Before I even got home my brakes were squeaking worse than before. So I went to another Kwik Kar and asked for another opinion. Well they couldn't take my tire off and evaluate because when I had the rotors and brakes put on my wheel lock didn't make it back in my car. So I had to go to the dealership and purchase another wheel lock. Went back to Kwik Kar in Allen and when they took my tire off the brake pad fell off. They put the wrong size brake pads on my car. Now this is all under warranty so I thought I'm good. Not true. Kwik Kar is not owned by an organization they are franchises. So the Allen Kwik Kar said since it was the wrong size break pad he would have to charge me for the labor. The manager at the Allen Kwik Kar called the Frankfort Kwik Kar to let them know what they had discovered and asked if they would cover the cost of the labor. They refused. So I called and talked to the manager at the Frankfort Kwik Kar and he wouldn't budge. I asked for the name and phone number of the owner and he said it's Ryan but wouldn't give me a last name or a phone number. He said he would have him call me. I have not received a phone call. So Frankfort Kwik Kar said if I would bring my car back to them they would finish the work. I told him I took my car back to you for an evaluation and no one even looked at the brakes to see if they were installed incorrectly so I don't have a lot of confidence in your shop. He said he didn't do the work someone else in his shop did. I said your the manager of the store and are responsible for what happens. So you want me to put the wrong size brake pads on my car and drive over to you so you can repair it and pray I don't have a problem. He said that's all he can do. UNBELIEVABLE. When the manager at the Allen Kwik Kar heard my conversation with the Frankfort Kwik Kar, he called the owner of the Allen store and they put on new brake pads and didn't charge me a dime! Went for an inspection. I thought any shop was safe for an inspection. Nope. After passing the inspection with sticker in hand, they still tried to upsell me on products I don't need. In the process of putting my car back together, they left a screw half way secure and didn't replace another. They also didn't replace the computer port cover. While I was there, two other people were mad at them for shoddy work. Again, I didn't go here for educated service, I went for an inspection. Anyone should be able to to that correctly. read more

I should have read the reviews too. I just took my car for inspection today, twice. First time I had the wrong insurance cert, but the kid did the road test before telling that. So I run home get the correct cert. I come back and he does another road test. Then performs the computer inspections. I then get told I'm all set and they take my credit card and charge me. Then I'm told the car didn't pass the parking break test. This kid had TWO opportunities to tell me my brake would not hold at 1000 rpms so there was no reason to do the rest of the test. Instead, I made a trip home and came back to get ripped off by these guys. When I asked for a refund, I was told to call DPS. If this is the kind of people you want to trust with your car service, be my guest. They are crooks. I was only there because Vavoline's computers were down due to the storm. My mistake. I have had my car inspected here in the past but always with new found problems n repairs needed to pass inspection. On my latest trip here, they failed my car saying my window tint was too dark and I also needed license plate lites. They had passed the same car twice before!!! I took my car to THREE other places n they said my windows rated 24-25 in their testing equipment!!! I called Kwik Kar back n informed them of this. They were rude n condescending, saying they would order new equipment just for ME! I will never go back to this place. They are chauvinistic jerks to women n obviously do use defective equipment!!! I agree the staff appears friendly. They were very polite. I did not get an oil change or any car repairs done so I can not speak about their level of competence. That out of the way, I went there for a state inspection. It was for my second car which I drive a few times a year. When the technician got into the car he drove 30 feet and "the battery died" according to them. The car started and ran just fine when I drove it from my house to the shop. It started when the technician first got in it. I didn't think much if that at the moment. I was quietly waiting in the lobby and I just like everyone else was called to my car. I was told I need transmission fluid and power steering fluid. I knew this is not required to pass inspection so I politely declined and went back to the lobby. The other customers were called into the garage again one for problems with her handbrake and the other for problems with his brake lines. Sometime later I saw all mechanics around the front end of my car and laughing. Shortly after I was called and was informed I need a new battery and need to replace one of my corner lights. I was politely quoted on the repairs needed. I told them my battery is under warranty and I will go get it replaced. I was then told to to comeback afterwards and for a small fee (the cost to replace the corner light) it will pass today. But then I asked if I replace it myself will the car pass and I was told I need to drive the car for 60 to 100 miles for the computer to reset before it can be tested, which I know to be true. I am just wondering why would they even try to inspect the car if he battery died (in their hands) on the way to the garage. I was never given official State document my car failed inspection, just a MS Office template based work order on the bottom of which was briefly mentioned "DEAD BATTERY". I went and replaced the battery anyway since it was under warranty and a few days latter my car passed inspection. In another service station. With no problems. Again I cannot speak about the quality of any repairs and/or oil changes, but I will certainly NOT go there to get my car inspected. I wish I had seen others' reviews before making the mistake of bringing my car here. I pulled in with my car overheated and (of course) they were quick to take a look to find the problem. That promptness marks the end of any kind of customer service, though!! I was told my radiator needed to be replaced and that parts and labor would be $300. Okay, fine. They called me 4 hours later (they originally said 2-3 hours) to let me know it was finished and when went to pay the bill, it was over $400!! I realize that the $100 difference may not be a lot to some people, but to my family it IS. Had he said $400 originally, I would have called our regular auto shop (Love Field Auto, they're AWESOME) and scheduled everything with them. The punk working the counter completely denied telling me $300 and even LAUGHED about it. The owner himself was present (supposedly) and made no effort to make things right. DO NOT take your car here for even the simplest work. I had an oil change and tires rotated here a few months ago. They told me my drain plug was bad which had never been a problem before. It was suspicious, but I agreed. Then last weekend, I went in for a routine inspection. They charged my credit card, then told me my Jeep failed the inspection due to having an air horn. Never had that problem before. Went home, found the DPS regs that said air horns were OK, called them back, but they just wanted to argue. The owners was not there that day, so wanted to talk to him about the obvious misreading of regs. I called twice and left messages, sent him an email with the regs copied into it, then went to back to the shop when they said he'd be there. He could never be reached nor found. So, I paid $40 to have my vehicle that I'd never had problems with before fail an inspection, and no one would talk with me about it. Unfortunately, customers don't typically go to sites like this BEFORE going to get their oil changed....too bad because this place is a HUGE RIP OFF SCAM SHOP. Look at the other reviews. Do not trust this place for your auto repairs nor oil changes. The employees make commission by selling flushes brake jobs etc. They make 5.00 dollars per sale. The owner makes them sell brakes that do not need to be done. They sell repairs on vehicles that do not need to be done. Instead of replacing one part that is actually the cause of your vehicle problem they will replace and charge you for the one part and parts relating to that problem to cover themselves. They have no ASE technicians there, they leave parts loose then during an oil change or flush they will mess something up so it needs to be repaired. Their brake flushes and power steering flushes are not true flushes nor are there transmission flushes. They just drain the reservoirs and refill them and clean the outsides of them.
