Brought in my wife's car for an oil change today and Jesse got it taken care of quickly. Two stars for the nice manager. Otherwise, zero star for the guy with braided hair who inspected my car. Spent more than 1 HOUR in the shop to be told my car failed the inspection due to: dark power steering fluid, dark brake fluid, dark ATF& tore wipers. He was even trying to upsell me the brake pads, which are still pretty thick. The funny part was he pointed at the engine oil on a piece of paper and said how dirty the ATF was( even though i replaced the ATF last month myself). I asked him to pull the stick again and he claimed it was still dark ( wth). I declined everything he was trying to service and he failed me after that. I was so angry and talked to the manager( the older gentleman) describing how the younger guy tried to upsell unnecessary services and he got my inspection passed. Took my car there on Friday for an oil change, while I was sitting waiting I noticed the the tech took out my air filter and started rubbing his hand on the dirt from my engine and wiping it on my air filter, he did this twice so I opened the door to let him know I saw what he just did, that he took my air filter out and put dirt on it so that he or the manager could come and show me that I needed to replace the filter because it was dirty! He denied it and I told him I had just seen him do it! So he puts the air filter back in, and the manager walks away and doesn't say a thing the whole time I'm yelling at this tech. He just walked to the stand where his phone was and started messing with it, needless to say I told them not to do a thing to my car and pull it out so I could leave! I took my car in for a state inspection the idiot technician tell me that my windshield wiper need to be replaced because it's splashing too much. My windshield wiper have no sign of crack or Torn. Took my car to the dealership to get new wiper they tell me there's nothing wrong with it. I bring it back. the same idiot technician tell me I didn't say anything about crack but it leaves streak on the windshield so he would not pass the inspection but tell me I can take it somewhere else so I did I took it down to Texas Car Wash and their pass it with no problem. This may be my second review. I really liked and trusted these guys. My AC broke about three years ago. Took it to them and they diagnosed it and supposedly fixed it and I paid around $1000. Had to go back the next three weekends because the freon was leaking out within one day and no more cold air after an expenditure that was very high for my budget. They finally told me the condenser needed to be replaced. I went ballistic. I asked why they hadn't found that over the past three weeks. The manager said he would pay for the condenser if I would pay the labor to install it. I had to do it. Guess what? In less than 12 months, the compressor went out again. They didn't want to honor the warranty. I made a fuss. They replaced the compressor but the a/c still didn't work. Now they say the condenser needed to be replaced (sound familiar?). He said it wouldn't hold a charge which I believe means it couldn't keep the refrigerant at the right pressure to cool the air. I reported them to anyone who would listen and got no where. Took my car to Joe's Auto Repair on Stella Link. My air conditioner needed the evaporator coil to be replaced. He said the condenser was fine. Three months later and my a/c is so cold I have to turn it up. Joe said the condenser was fine. Nothing wrong with it. Not only would Kwik Kar not "do" the right thing, they didn't even know what needed to be done. Incompetent. I still want my money back. Stay far far away from these folks. If I could give this place a zero I would. Walked in for an inspection and they tell me I need windshield wipers. I said I would come back after fixing them and the young man inside all dressed up threaten me by saying that if I left he would fail my car and that I had to wait to do it again AND That I still had to pay for the "inspection." Without giving me an option he charged me $30 for EACH windshield wiper. Didn't even ask if I wanted something else other than the "premium wipers." I had to go back 3 times for them to get my auto inspection right. The first time, they entered the wrong vin and it didn't get logged correctly. Had to go back so they can fix and they did it again, for the wrong car. They kept insisting it was correct even though the report showed the wrong make and model. This is the only place I will ever trust with my car. They are absolutely wonderful, trustworthy, and are not out there to scam you. After I drove my car into a ditch they not only checked my entire car out, but they power washed the underside and got all of the dirt and grime out (for free!). They have also prevented me from getting scammed by others (just saved me $600 today). They sit down with me every time and explain what they are doing, what they have done in the past, and what I need to get done in the future and why. The man that serviced my car was friendly and quick HOWEVER the manager was incredibly rude. I left this place in tears. His credit card machine was canceling the transaction my card was not declined however he kept telling me there was nothing wrong with machine and I would not be leaving until i paid the $42.00. I called my bank and no transaction occurred he refused to speak with the bank. I think the proper way to handle this situation would have been " I'm sorry ma'am the connection seems to having an issue can you please check with your bank if the charge has attempted to go through or have a seat and I will call our service" Very unprofessional, Hire a new manager! read more

If I could give the team at this Kwik Kar location more than 5 stars (along with a pay raise and Christmas bonus) I certainly would! An engine oil message came on in my car as I was about to make a long drive one morning , so I stopped off here, somewhere I never would've thought to go. I anticipated paying for a quick oil change. Turns out I needed more crucial work done before my entire engine was ruined! They showed me everything. I'm a teacher and we don't have endless funds. I was on the verge of tears when I heard the estimate and knew I wouldn't make it to my event. The team was willing to do whatever it took to make sure I was safely back on the road. You hear me? I was alone... as a woman... and no one tried to cheat me. I know I paid less than what was earned. I'm forever indebted to this Kwik Kar location. They went WAY beyond the call of duty. I say no to this place. I called and asked for an alignment and was told it was 79.99. When I get there they said you just redid your suspension so the alignment will be more because we have to make more adjustments. Then they came back and said you should do your ball joint as well. I have been to a few alignment shops including dodge, sears, ntb over the years. No one has ever mentioned the ball joint being bad. I had my doubts as soon as they upped the price on the alignment from 79.99 to 104.00. Typical bait and switch. Should have gone to Firestone. They don't charge extra to adjust toe and camber even if you redid your front end yourself. read more

My experience with Slater's Kwik Kar began years ago. I used them for oil changes and state inspections for a couple of years and had a good relationship. On 5/31/14 I took my toyota highlander to them for air conditioning diagnosis. It had multiple problems and I paid $1,074.11 on invoice 2375721 (copy attached). It seemed to be working fine when I left but less than two days later it no longer blew cold air. I brought it back in on Saturday, June 7, 2014 and they recharged the refrigerant. The next week it leaked out again within two days. I brought my highlander back in on June 14, 2014 and was told I would have to pay for a compressor which was leaking. I was not happy. The manager said they should have caught it when they originally repaired it and told me that he would not charge me for the compressor and if I would pay the labor, it would be installed and my air conditioner should finally work. I paid $100.00 on 6/14/14 and the air conditioner worked the remainder of the summer. At the end of April 2015, the air conditioner was not blowing cold air again and making a screeching noise. I took my Highlander in again on 4/28/15 and was told that the compressor which was replaced less than a year earlier was going to need to be replaced. I asked about warranty and the new manager told me he would have to look it up but didn't think the compressor was under warranty. After several phone calls, the manager finally said the compressor was under a two year warranty and that I would have to pay labor only to get it replaced. On 4/30/15, invoice #2599657, I paid 2 hours of labor but there was still a leak. They used dye and found out that the compressor was leaking (also replaced less than a year ago). They said it would cost me $377.00 to replace the compressor and a half hour of labor. I told him that I was not going to pay to replace the compressor and left the shop. The manager was not the one working on my car for most of this visit. Another technician told me that when they put the alternator back in it no longer worked and I would not make it home on my battery life. He later returned to tell me that it was just a fuse which he replaced and the alternator seemed to be working. After spending six hours at the shop, I left around 5:45 pm with a non functional air conditioner and $1,344.11 spent. I called the manager on 5/4/15 to ask what was replaced when I spent the $100.00 on 6/14/14 because I could not find my copy of the ticket. He confirmed that it was a compressor. He told me that since I did not pay for the compressor that I could not use the warranty and he would not replace the compressor. I would like a refund of $1,344.11 because I still don't have a working air conditioner and the parts replaced less than a year before both failed. I emailed the owners site about this problem because I could not get the owners phone number from the store (Reggie Slater). After no response for a week, I sent an email to the store on Eldridge on 5/9/15. I have heard nothing as of today, 6/4/15. read more
