Be very aware of the upsell!!! I witnessed an older gentleman being told his bill was over $250 when he just requested an oil change and wiper blades. They told him that they has also replaces air filters that he told them he never asked for. He then told them to remove whatever they said they replaced and they quickly backed off and adjusted his payment. Interesting they never took anything off of his vehicle after he refused to pay for additional items. They also tried to tell me that I needed more than the oil change. Watch out and don't let me charge for things you didn't ask for. An oil change and state inspections are all I ever go there for. read more

They claimed I needed replace pads and rotors. Didn't even take my tires off to inspect. Was going to cost $1,300 + tax. I went to Brakes plus and they inspected properly and said I didn't need anything done but should consider replacing my rear pads. They quoted $330. read more

I have been bringing my car here for a couple of years now for basic services such as oil changes and inspections. I brought it in a couple of weeks ago for an oil change and as things were wrapping up one of the mechanics walked in and said all of my fluids were low and needed to be filled up. I am a young woman and I look younger than I am, but I do have a college degree and a full time job and the man made me feel awkward as he said "whenever you get a chance to talk to your parents about filling them up". This was the first issue and I replied I would be having another auto shop look at it. He then tried to get me to call my parents and just do it that day, but I asked how much it would be to fill up all of my fluids and he said it would be around $600-$700. I turned him down and proceeded to call my other auto shop to set up an appointment. Marlow Automotive in Plano is a small shop, but full of experienced mechanics who are always trustworthy and have never tried to upsell me. I have gone to them for many years for other things on my car, but it is just not as convenient of a location as this Kwik Kar for oil changes and inspections. I scheduled my appointment with Marlow and brought my car to them to get my fluids replaced. Marlow is great about updating the status of your car and by the afternoon I called to check on the timing and they said it would be ready in 5 minutes and to head up when I can. When I arrived I was shocked when they said my total was $50! I asked if they filled my fluids and they said my fluids were absolutely not empty, in fact, they were almost full! They were glad I came to them and they did a full car inspection and topped off my fluids, but other than that there was nothing wrong with my car. The fact that this Kwik Kar location tried to deceive me into spending $600-$700 when my fluids weren't even empty disgusts me. It is unfortunate as this location was very convenient, but my trust in the mechanics is very low now. While oil changes and inspections may be fine at this location, I will never take a recommendation of things that may be low or messed up from this location ever again. Very disappointed with the way I was treated and the service I expereinced. read more

This Kwik Kar has been our go-to for oil and inspections for 15 years, and always great, fast service. Seems to have slipped recently tho - took our SUV for an inspection and oil change couple weeks ago, and asked for specific pressure in the tires, to reset the oil change message, and to check other fluids for a long upcoming trip. They didn't fill the tires or reset the oil message - makes me wonder what else they didn't do. The person I interacted with seemed apathetic. Maybe this was an anomaly. If you're from California, and needing a state inspection for a registration, dont bother coming here. They said that I needed a state texas insurance to do that and that they cant service me since my insurance is from Cali. Im currently in a different shop getting my inspection and they told me that this people from Kwik were jerking me around. As long as you have a valid insurance you should be good. Wouldn't trust them with other services here to be honest. They seem like dishonest people. read more

Hilarious interaction today at this Kwik by Jesuit. Lady at the desk told me a tune up and oil change would be over $350. When I asked what was included in the tune up, she said spark plugs. They would just check the spark plugs. She also said it would take 45 minutes to do $350 of work on a routine tune up. None of that made any sense to me, and it was weird to hear it out of her mouth so confidently. I didn't even know what to think about her or this Kwik car shop, so I left and got a great tune up over by bachman lake for $200. read more

I visited on the morning of 3/16/20 to get a state inspection and have an oil leak assessed. The mechanic told me that it would be $45 to have the oil leak diagnosed. After inspecting the car for a few minutes, he told me it was actually a power steering fluid leak and that the pump and lines that would all need to be replaced, which would cost more than $750. After declining the repair, I was told that they could not pass the car on the state inspection. I took the car to a nearby Firestone for inspection and did not tell them about the leak. After completing the state inspection, they told me that I had a slow oil leak, which could be diagnosed with a dye test if I wanted. read more

I went to this business to get an oil change and the service representative told me that a valve feeding oil to my engine was leaking. The business charged me $120 to diagnose this but then told me that they did not have the part to fix it. They made me pay in cash. I told them I did not have cash and they would not give me my keys back until I walked to an ATM and brought them the money. Because I paid in cash, there was no receipt for this transaction. I then took my car to Land Rover to be repaired. The mechanic did not find any issues with the car. In fact, it was in pristine shape. Moral of the story is I was scammed here. This is not on record though because of my cash payment. I wish I had not fallen for this. read more

I drive an older car (a 1994 Toyota), so getting a state inspection can be a pain because the older cars require an older machine for testing. This year I drove to 4 different locations for the inspection and none were working. Found this location and their machine wasn't working either. They took my number and promised to call when it was working. The next morning they called me and reserved a time for me so I didn't have to wait. Great customer service and follow through! I am a long time user of Yelp and this is my first review. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate this business. I've used them many times for my safety inspection, and today they went far beyond great customer care. Somehow a kitty got into the undercarriage of my car and rode all the way from McKinney to my home in Dallas. I discovered him when I heard meowing under my car after I parked in our garage. He was stuck and I had no idea how to get him out. Dallas Animal Control wanted no part of this when I called them. I called the guys at Kwik Kar. The owner and another worker actually took time to drive to our house to try to get him out, with no luck. We decided I could drive the short distance to their shop. Within minutes the little critter was freed. Luckily the owner's wife works for an animal rescue, so the little guy will be well taken care of. Thanks to everyone at Kwik Kar for such amazing kindness and concern. More businesses should follow your exceptional example!
