We met some friends here on a Sunday night in part to catch up before the holidays and to hear about a recent trip they took out west. Having tried this great restaurant before, Laura made reservations for the four of us to come back for dinner. Such an awesome pick! Kyma is a beautiful establishment and is total class. Our table was spacious and had plenty of room for all of the appetizers and entrees we would soon ravage. You'll want to dress nicely to dine here but not necessarily over the top. The decor inside lets you know that you're in for a special evening. Well lit and warm, Kyma has certainly got it covered in the fine dining atmosphere department. Valet parking and coat check are great additions to the upscale environment. I strongly recommend that if you are a fan of octopus, you try theirs. We also ordered mussels that were very good as well. Since the temperature outside had dropped 18 degrees in just a few hours, I had a bowl of lobster bisque to warm my insides as well. 5 stars for the octopus, 4 for the mussels, but I have to admit that I have had better bowls of bisque. Good but not great. Complimentary bread bowls were a hit as well- we even asked for more to sop of some of the flavorful juices from our other apps. I also strongly recommend the Saganaki- Our waiter, Joseph, suggested it for the table and it was devoured by us all. I hope i do it justice by describing it as a fried cheese that you cant wait to stuff into your mouth and then go back for more. For entrees we had the following: Swordfish- delicious and cooked perfectly. A huge portion that will be a hit for lunch the next day as it was too much to eat. Lavraki- What we italians would call bronzino. Also, delicious and portions large enough to make a meal of on the next day. King crab legs- these babies didnt stand a chance- served with clarified butter and a mustard dipping sauce, they were large enough to share and to stuff the stomach of yours truly. Pair the food with a bottle of wine, a couple of martinis and a Mykonos mule and some more martinis and you have a party that lasted the whole night through. It may seem like a lot of drinks, but we were literally at the table, catching up and telling stories for three and a half hours. The help came and constantly filled our water glasses, replaced plates and attended all our needs without ever making us feel like we had overstayed our welcome. Nothing speaks class like being a great host. As you can imagine from this 5 star review, we will certainly come back to Kyma for a special evening out. The meal will certainly set you back a few bucks, but I'm one who believes that certain meals and experiences are well worth the money spent. Went here just the other day for the first time since the pandemic and it was great as usual. I used to frequent semi regularly back in the day but circumstances changed but it was nice to see the restaurant up and buzzing like 2+ years ago and back further. Food and drink was as good as ever and service was great. From the waitstaff to the bar to the new maitre d's- all top notch. Valet guys were always great with me. Parking is pretty tight in this area of Roslyn so the valet always comes in handy. How I've missed those Kyma Chips! I will be back again soon! read more

I've been here twice. Once in March for my birthday with some girlfriends and again last night with two other people for a covid friendly small dinner bday meal. Let me start by saying the food here is PHENOMENAL. Yes, pricey, but if you're not willing to pay, probably just don't go. Both times we did not eat one bad thing. Service on the other hand both times was severely subpar. In March, yes, they were very busy but we had a reservation for 8 people that we had to wait over and hour past til we were seated. The host claimed they had the reservation for a half hour later in which I showed the confirmation and she stated she "doesn't know what happened". None the less, we still waited severely past our reservation time. They made up for it with two free appetizers which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Last night when we dined there we enjoyed the outdoor seating under the tent. It was not overly crowded. We promptly got water and the scannable menu card to review the drinks and food menu. Problem being our waiter did not come back for about 25 minutes after that. We watched him give great attention to the two tables next to us and then continuously just walk past us. This happened all night long between visits. We would have had way more drinks and a way higher tab if we weren't being outright ignored. Went there for Christmas Eve. Despite coming on time for our reservation, we still had to wait 30 minutes because it was crowded. That wasn't the problem, the problem was one of my family members found A HAIR IN THEIR FOOD!!!!!!! They ordered the crab cake and the hair happened to be baked into the crab meat. No one apologized, our waiter just told the manager and they took it off of our check. Went to Kyma last week for dinner and it was wonderful. We started off with a bottle of wine. For appetizers we got the Kyma chips which are fried zucchini and eggplant with a tzatziki sauce for a dip. These are my absolute favorite, always a must. We also got the sesame feta which is to die for!!!! And the fried calamari. For dinner I got the salmon entree which came with rice. The salmon was delicious, I'm so picky with salmon and I was so glad it didn't have the fishy taste. For dessert I got the chocolate lava cake with a cappuccino. Absolutely delicious! Also I have to add that the service was outstanding. Our server was so helpful and sweet we also had some other people who were probably managers come up to the table to make sure everything was good. Can't wait to go back for dinner. read more

It's a mixed bag: + big, airy, well-lit and well-decorated space, with plenty of staff from the squadron of valet parking guys to ample waitstaff and busboys - but the size of the place, and numerous large, boisterous parties, makes it very loud inside - the din was definitely distracting + service is good: efficient, professional, responsive + food is generally good: decent appetizers, well-prepared and fresh-tasting grilled fish and other mains - prices, however, range from high to borderline obscene: by way of example, an app consisting of a stack of fried zucchini and eggplant "Kyma" chips is $19; the grilled Halloumi app is $17; a vegetable pasta main is $29; moussaka is $31... Wine markups are similarly steep: a ~$12 (retail) bottle went for $49. I am very disappointed in this restaurant. The apps were very good, we had the zucchini and eggplant chips, dips, crab cake (excellent) and fried calamari (soggy and rubbery). My sisters has grilled fish and they enjoyed it. I had the Plaki and didn't like it at all, it was SALTY and the fish was mushy, yuk, sauce was gross. But what I was really upset about was the service. Our waiter took our order and than basically ignored us, but definitely knew how to jump around and be attentive to a group that came in with flashy name brand clothes. I guess make sure your waiter can see that you have expensive clothes than you can expect good service. We were asking our bust boy for drinks and thankfully the sommelier was super nice and attentive and got us some wine. Since our waiter was MIA I told the sommelier that it was my sisters birthday and I saw him talking to a gentleman in a suit and pointing to my sister so I assume that he told him it was her birthday. But I guess we were not good enough or not Greek enough to have a stupid cake brought for her. Finally my friend got up and told the waiter who finally brought a cake after we paid our check and were done with our meal, really ? I witnessed multiple tables around us get a cake brought to their table and multiple people take that 2 min to sing happy birthday, not us. I wanted to update this review in the context of COVID and take-out. My husband and I have chosen not to eat out at restaurants but have been ordering in quite a bit. Unfortunately, we have have mostly disappointing experiences with regard to portion size and quality, even from places we've frequented before. For our anniversary we always eat at Kyma and order my favorite meal (Lobster pasta) when we're not traveling. So we ordered take-out and decided to have dinner at home. We were not disappointed! In fact, the portion size of the lobster pasta was just as large and delicious as it always is. The calamari had all the sauces it should come with, and they still sent table bread and hummus. We were so very happy to see that Kyma is not skimping on their take-out orders. We simply had to update this review and thank Kyma for still making our anniversary enjoyable. read more

Where do i begin? The music for a restaurant was extremely and unnecessary loud! From the minute we sat down i felt rushed. First, Menus were given to us and immediately We were notified of the specials and without even looking at the menu asked if we were ready to order. Secondly there is Nothing more rude and annoying than being interrupted while having conversation or trying to eat being asked if everything is ok. This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have been to in Roslyn. This spacious restaurant has mainly white decor paired with beautiful blue murals. Definitely order the Kyma chips (fried zucchini and eggplant) which is served with tzatziki sauce, these are so GOOD. Their Greek Salad has no lettuce, its tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, olives, EVOO and feta. It's really fresh and delicious but if you are looking for a traditional salad, this isn't for you. Their menu has a wide selection of entrees from seafood to pastas to meat dishes. I always get their vegetarian pasta which is penne mixed with fresh sautéed vegetables. Their cocktails are amazing and beautifully presented. Their actual bar area is huge and it gets really busy on certain nights. The service is always professional and prompt and the manager is always seen doing table visits. I haven't been to their weekend brunch but it's definitely on my list. read more

AH-MA-ZING, ambiance was great, waiter who took care of us, whose name I believe was Harris was amazing. Held great conversations and gave us great recommendations as first timers. It's been bookmarked for a years in Yelp and I finally made it there. The Hesitancy came from my husband since he loves his meats and the menu is filled with fish. But he enjoyed all the food we ordered and had lamb chops. First time I tried zucchini chips and they were delicious, not oily and tasty. My daughter had the fries and enjoyed the pita bread. My husband and I of course snuck in some fries and they tasted great. Lightly seasoned, flavorful, fresh and not oily! The grilled jumbo shrimp and watermelon salad was great. Forget that, lets strictly talk food. There is no denying that it's good, very good. To start with, we had grilled octopus, it was so tender and delicious, it could have been main course. The shrimp in a tomato based sauce with feta was suggested by bartender, really nice. I have been here before but early for dinner and we had the red snapper which was off the charts. By far the best Greek Restaurant I have been on Long Island so far. The circular bar area is very airy with a patio side and an inside the dining room side. The restaurant dining room is comfortable and mostly everything is white with large windows to draw the light into the room. We actually ordered more appetizers than we could actually eat, but we were excited to taste as many as possible. The Saganaki, Octopus 22, Watermelon Salad, Classic Greek Tomato Salad, and Zucchini Fritters were all awesome. We had also the Tiger Shrimp and a whole Black Sea Bass fish as entrée's. We had a reservation amd were led to a table by the bar, being that it was a nice night, we asked the hostess for a spot outside. She gladly obliged and led us to a lovely table in the corner of the front yard. Landscaping, umbrellas, tiki torches, and heat lamps all add to the luxe, sexy, aura of this restaurant. This was only enhanced as the sun set upon us. On to the food, tomato salad was outstanding and worth every penny ($19?), super fresh tomatoes, and a great balance of onion peppers, plenty of feta, and a luscious dressing of evoo and vinegar I believe. Perfectly spiced as well, everything I could ask for from a "Greek salad". On to the fish, cod was prepared beautifully, great char on the outside, virtually all bones removed. Delicate and savory, melt in your mouth fish. On the side we had the Israeli cous cous which was divine, yummy veggies mixed in with perfect tang from the tomatoes, if any complaint, cous cous seemed at bit buttery/heavy. We finished this evening in the shadows of the torches digging into their key lime pie. Great fluffy texture, strong sweet and sour lime flavor, a great way to end this Mediterranean meal. Waiter was attentive. Food - We started with two glasses of Pinot Grigio. Seemed like a half of glass. My TSIPOURA (porgy) fish was good, nicely grilled, but let me tell you, porgy cost $3 a pound in the market and this dish was $35. I barely ate the couscous, it was too mushy and had tomatoes. The broccoli rabe was very good. Snapper was A+. Greek Salad was A+. The tomatoes were very sweet and tasted great. Blue point oysters were tiny. Not meaty at all. They did not have mignotte to go with the oysters, only vinegar. Maybe I would return for the pre fixe lunch which is reasonably priced. I had a whole Red Snapper, the most delicious broccoli rabe, lemon potatoes and eggplant chips. However, it is a little bit offsetting that I felt like I was dining in the Ethan Allen bar of Miami. I didnt think they sold skin tight dressers with rips in the shoulders and hooker boots in Roslyn? But I suppose it is classy if you are sipping your drink on wooden sleigh couch? They have a pretty extensive outside dining area and there are some seats where you might be far away from the action enough to feel like you are sitting in a fancy seafood restaurant. The over- the-top decor and feel actually amused me so I can't complain. The waiter was really helpful and the food was cooked perfectly and served quickly. I had a wonderful cocktail, vodka infused with fresh pineapple; my husband had an Old Fashioned, straight up, very good. So bad that I took 3 bites and got so nauseous I had to move the plate across the table and chase it down with some strong tequila. Very disappointing experience. The food was delicious- the service was horrible. We got our appetizers and then the drinks came when we were almost done with the appetizers. We were trying so hard to flag someone down to help us. The waiters name on the receipt was Johnathan but I'm not even sure who our waiter was. One person took our order- but he wasn't our waiter. Another person came and asked if we are ready for our main course. No one bothered to check on us throughout the course of the meal, to see if we like our drinks, and whenever we needed something it felt like it was a burden to get someone to help. We even Tried to stop someone and they literally kept walking- more than once. If you have 5 star prices, you should offer 5 star service. Very disappointed and I will not be back. read more

Food was decent when they opened but they have seriously been going downhill. Service, food, overall vibe is pretty disappointing. Many of my Greek friends who initially loved the place said they would never step foot in the restaurant again. Firstly, they are getting sloppy with the quality and handling of ingredients, especially the seafood. I mean if 8 out of 14 people at the table get shrimp dishes with the shrimp uncleaned and poop veins intact, there is a huge problem with the kitchen. That is a detail that separates the pros from the amateurs. For the price tag, this should not be expected! Plus, serving old fish is not something you can hide and they don't even try to. The staff is also poorly managed, especially the hostesses. More often than not, they are on their phones or in a corner gossiping, while a line of guests builds up. Or, 40 minutes into your meal they tell you that you have to give up the table since they have other reservations to cater to, even though your main course hasn't arrived. I'm sorry, but as long as I am ordering food and a paying customer I think handling the reservations should not be of my concern. Not my fault you choose to overbook... As sad as it is to say, especially looking back on how good the beginnings of Kyma were, I have to say that they sold-out. It's pretty obvious they are more concerned with making money than maintaining a business of integrity. Many people I know who were regulars are turning away and now I think it's just for the showy crowd who have little concern for food or quality dining. Such a shame... The owners did so much better with Kalamaki, a fast food style restaurant that most of Roslyn wished they didn't close! read more

If you're wondering if it is worth it to try Kyma, do yourself a favor and go! Kyma is a treat from the moment you step through the door until the moment you hold your belly and roll back out. I've been here on several special occasions for dinner and we have never been let down. The service is impeccable, the environment beautiful and comfortable, and the food.... Oh, the food. There is nothing they serve that isn't spot on. My favorites include: the patzaria (golden and red beet salad appetizer), sesame feta (pan fried sesame coated slice of feta drizzled with sweet deliciousness), black sea bass (roasted whole and deboned for your enjoyment), plaki (filet of sole in a garlicky tomato and wine sauce) and the pork chop special (2 slabs of chops grilled to perfection). The kyma chips are very good and they're the impressive looking, towering signature dish, but it's the sort of thing I only ordered once and then was done with it. It's good, but there are so many other substantially good dishes that ordering the kyma chips seemed to take me away from them. For dessert, the one I never pass up is the house made Greek yogurt. I know, I know... It's Greek yogurt. Big deal. No, do not be fooled. Their house made yogurt is full fat, super creamy and full of flavor unlike the bland supermarket stuff. It is not a fake dessert nor would I label it a low calorie, healthy selection. It is rich, smooth, sweet and worthy of a place on the dessert menu. Try it! read more
