This is a family favorite. They have an amazing selection of chocolate and their customer service is great! They always make you feel like a valued customer. Definitely worth the splurge.

We have been resisting buying from here for a while now, because it's pricey. We didn't want to start something that's hard to sustain. However, we finally caved in! Now we come, taste test and buy almost each time we're at South Coast Plaza. Most of the ones we've tried we love. We especially like the popular milk chocolate with hazelnuts, the blonde chocolate, the one with strawberries.

The hook, line and sinker this place is. That free smooth Swiss chocolate taste gets you hooked! I did! Tasted that blonde caramel and their classic as well as their raspberry and strawberry chocolates are awesome! Service is great!

Who doesn't love Läderach? The chocolate here is so top-of-the-line, it's hard to really get anything wrong. You'd have to really fumble a guest's experience. What I love about this particular location is how patient they are - at least, when I go. I usually know what I want, but I also can't help but try other items before buying the Strawberry, and this place is really cool about letting me sample and try things. Solid establishment!

We got some hazelnut dark chocolate and some blackberry dark chocolate today. So good.

If you shop at South Coast Plaza and haven't been to Laderach chocolatier, you're missing out. :) We love the chocolate here. Our favorites are the dark chocolate selections. They not only taste good but are supposed to be good/healthy for us. They're definitely not cheap (about $62 to ~ $75 per pound), but they are very good quality chocolate. There's always a long line there though. So be patient and be ready to wait if you have time . . .

Located in South Coast Plaza, Laderach is one of my favorite chocolate brands around. I think about their hazelnut chocolate quite a lot. It's truly luxury chocolate, so it isn't cheap. I got an assortment of the chocolate this time, which means I can try new flavors and determine which I want to purchase next time. Some of my favorite flavors I've recently discovered are the raspberry blueberry and florentine chocolate. Overall, I love their chocolate and will definitely be back.

I'm surprised with the overall rating of this store. For years the staff has been welcoming, (maybe it's been good timing), the chocolate is always fresh, they even give samples. The quality and variety of the chocolate is sooooo good. I forget I'm pre diabetic when I'm there. It's great for snacking and gifting. I highly recommend.

Looks so inviting, I wanted to get some but time was running short. I'm going to get something next time.

Chocolate: 5/5 Chocolate options are amazing, everything is smooth and delicious. From ones with nuts to strawberry, even some with meringue. Really can't get enough. Service: 5/5 Staff is very quick and nice. They described the flavor profile and offered plenty of samples. Awesome team. Ambience: 4/5 Clean, organized, a little small but nice decor.

There's always a long line at Laderach Chocolatier Suisse. I'll take that long line any day! It means the chocolate is the bestttttt! I came here with my husband, and brought my parents and aunt/ uncle. Mostly because I wanted them to try the chocolate. My mom loved it and my aunt did too! We all bought some chocolate.

I just Discovered this Chocolatier today. Passing by the window and seeing all the stacked tablets of sweet and colorful goodness was already a feast for the eye. I had to stop. The line was descent and was moving fairly quickly. The staff were super friendly. The place was buzzing with energy. The store is nicely put together with tons of beautiful arrangements. There was a sample counter with tons of options to try from. The sweet smell of all the different chocolates was intoxicating. Their menu items are unique. I got 5 or 6 pieces of different chocolate combinations to sample with family over Coffee. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend trying Laderach.

Favorite chocolate! Service was fantastic today, friendly staff and he offered me a few to try out. My favorites are the dark chocolate with a variety of nuts and the dark chocolate with pistachios.

Only reason I brave the craziness of South Coast Plaza is for Uniqlo, Din Tai Fung, & THIS CHOCOLATE. This shop is located on the same side as Bloomingdale's. They offer samples of their frischschoggi (chocolate bark) when you walk in. Tons of different chocolates & packages on display. They also have a per piece section for the truffles. But I come here for the per pound frischschoggi. You can sample any flavor. My favorite is the cornflake & the strawberry. Although on the pricier side ~ $50/lb, it's worth it. Lol. The chocolate is so smooth, silky & not overly sweet. There are also prepackaged sampler frischschoggi boats with all the flavors. Anyways, give it a try. Go get a sample.

Since I like partaking in sweets while traveling, I decided to go in and check this place out. BC is a decent size for a candy shop; the merch is scattered throughout the floor and they stock a mix of loose generic candy you can buy in bags or bulk, and branded confections. The focal point is the center counter that houses chocolates and a few other selections. The stock was a little sparse if I'm being honest; I'm used to really showy candy shops along the shore with a vast variety of merchandise, but I didn't find that here. I decided to pick up some Australian licorice and some of their jumbo peanut butter cups. I'm familiar with the brand of licorice, but as far as the chocolate it was quite good - the cup was stuffed generously with peanut butter. It was also very smooth which gave it a good mouthfeel. Service was friendly, but overall I didn't think Balboa Candy was anything too noteworthy. Good as a standard candy store, but I've been to better ones.

The location is beautiful and super easy to find! I had no hidden corners, just a bright, open, and inviting storefront. The shop itself is so nicely decorated, everything feels thoughtfully put together and fun to explore. I came specifically for their Sunday pop-up featuring the Hannah Montana exhibit, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Such a cute and nostalgic experience! On top of that, the service was great (they took as many photos as you wanted for you) everyone was friendly and helpful without being overwhelming. One of my favorite parts is the customizable, limited merch--it makes the whole visit feel even more special and unique. Merch was high value and nice quality so you get what you are paying for. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to! Thank you.

Five stars for Amaris!…read more My visit was Sunday, February 22. I was in town accompanying my husband and while walking around before our brunch, I saw Stoney Clover. While I've seen their items on social media, I own none of their products. I made a mental note and decided that we could walk back after brunch. Stoney Clover offers bright, fun accessories and bags that you can customize with 3M patches. The can customize and sew the patches on for you in store; they have many options. Anyway, back to me. Amaris greeted me upon entry and told me to let me know if I had questions. I did end up having a question, so I circled back to her. She was so nice! She gave me guidance on what to choose, gave me some suggestions on colors, and then sewed every guy for me. She made sure that everything I chose was brand new from the back and made sure to have everything packaged up nicely. Amaris truly made this experience, and she deserves recognition!

During my most recent visit, I was browsing and deciding whether I wanted to purchase another cake. I asked my partner to take a look at a coffee walnut cake I was considering. While I was looking at the display, a staff member suddenly approached me and loudly asked, "What can I help you with?" The tone and volume startled me. Her expression was very serious, and it gave me the impression that she was suspicious of me rather than trying to assist me. I had originally intended to ask about the ingredients and details of the cake, but because I was caught off guard, I simply asked her to get the cake for me instead. Looking back, I don't think I reacted the way I normally would because the interaction was so unexpected and uncomfortable. The situation became even more unpleasant afterward. The employee seemed to be in a great hurry and repeatedly asked, "What else do you want?" in a rushed and impatient manner. It felt as though she wanted us to make our purchases as quickly as possible and leave. Rather than receiving customer service, I felt pressured into buying something immediately. What made this particularly strange was that I was the only customer in the store at the time. Many people were looking around and leaving, while I was one of the few customers actively making purchases. Yet I felt as though I was being treated with suspicion while simply browsing with a tray in my hand. This type of hard-sell behavior is something I would expect in a crowded tourist area, not in a neighborhood shop where customers should feel welcome to browse and make thoughtful purchasing decisions. The experience left me feeling rushed and uncomfortable. I was disappointed by the products themselves. After returning home, I realized that many of the items I purchased were set to expire within approximately two weeks. I had bought a substantial amount of pastries, and it was unrealistic to expect someone to finish everything in such a short period. I also noticed that the quality of several items has declined compared to previous years. Some pastries were overly sweet, while others tasted dry. Although the shop still maintains beautiful packaging, the quality no longer matches the presentation. Prices have also increased significantly. Items that once cost around $3 are now closer to $5 to $7, with some reaching nearly $10 for a small single item. At those prices, customers should be allowed the time to browse, compare products, and make informed decisions without feeling pressured. I understand that staff may not recognize every customer, even after many years, and that is perfectly understandable. However, customers should still be treated with courtesy and respect. Browsing the store while carrying grocery bags should not result in someone feeling suspected, rushed, or treated like a potential thief rather than a valued customer. Not everyone who walks into your store is a thief. Many of us are loyal customers who simply want to browse and shop comfortably. If customers are made to feel rushed, suspected, or unwelcome, they will eventually take their business elsewhere.
