Lovely little restaurant tucked off a main road. We had lunch here the other day. We had an Italian Sub and a Turkey wrap with cranberry mayo. The sandwiches were good, but not great. The fries were delicious. The restaurant itself is lovely. The owner was our server, and she did a great job. She was very nice and told us about her plans and what they offered at night. On Friday and Saturday they have live music and do what she calls "Date Nights." That sounds like a lot of fun. We will go back in the evening because it's a while different menu. We made our reservation over a month ago and were confirmed for the Captain's Quarters private room. When we arrived, we were told we were "never promised that room," which simply wasn't true. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were then informed that another group was in the room and they "didn't expect them to stay so long," so we were placed at a loud table by the bar with no privacy at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From there, things only went downhill. There was no coordination of our meals, they forgot to bring the salads we had arranged for, drink orders were missed, and then we were told they had run out of steaks. For a planned group reservation, the service felt disorganized and chaotic. The ambiance is beautiful - you can dress up or dress down and you will feel comfortable! I came on a Saturday night and they had live music which was a nice touch. My husband and I had the sweetest server Kailee. She provided 5 star service and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied every step of the way. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious! I ordered the salmon entree and selected risotto instead of coconut rice, which was a great decision considering the risotto was amazing. The salmon was delicious with mango salsa that took the flavor to the next level. The entree also came with veggies, bread and a side salad. My husband ordered the captains steak which was a New York strip. It was cooked to his liking and very flavorful. His entree came with mash potatoes, a side of vegetables and a side salad as well. The waitress did a very good job under the circumstances she was presented with. There was 7 of us dining for my daughters birthday. She lives close by and recommended we reserve a table at 6:30 on Saturday night. We were excited to go there after reviewing the menu and stated it is a hidden gem and top notice food. We all ordered meals and shortly after waitress informed us that they were out of the special and 3 of us ordered a ravioli which is a standard menu item. The waitress came back again and told us they ran out of ravioli. So we all ordered bar grade flat beads. I told the waitress that this was very unacceptable for being out of normal items that early on a Saturday night. Also have been living in Palm Harbor for 53 yrs and my wife and I have dined in a fair amount of top restaurants in the Bay Area. We were finishing up our dinners and drinks and the Chef came to ask us how are meals were and I told him our constructive complaints in a low tone of voice and he became very defensive and angry and walked away talking under his breath. Then the owner came over and sat at our table and her attitude made things worse. We did not ask for either of them to come to the table and as we were waiting on our bill to pay. The place was not at all busy and 2 tables next to us also waited a long time for there dinners to come out. This dining occurred 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday with No Reservations so I offered to sit at the empty bar. Seriously, the glass was so much ice and so little drink. I ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon and sensational. The blue cheese dressing was also sensational. I ordered the cream of lobster and thought wow that will be great. And I ordered the captain's steak. Well this is where the trouble started. After the large portion of scallops I doubted if I could eat the soup and the entree so I asked to cancel the soup and they said well we have to check to see if they started making it and I said oh if they have to start making it and I want it. I said to the lady behind the bar who took my order wow most places make a big batch and then use a ladle and not from scratching she just looked and didn't say anything. That's when they delivered from the kitchen 2 entrees. The cream of lobster was an Entree and the pierogies that I saw was an ingredient not and available side dish that I assumed it to be. The waiter at the table behind me told the customers about the daily specials and the cream of lobster being in entree but the woman behind the bar never said anything to me about the daily specials or that would have cleared up everything. I'm sorry but listing cream of lobster implies soup. I left that entree behind and left one half of my normal tip so the lady behind the bar could have both. I can tell you I was not disappointed. It was Saturday evening and we didn't have reservations. The hostess said they didn't have any tables readily available but we can sit at the bar. Our bartender was prompt and explained all the specials for the day. We had drinks and the scallop appetizer. Perfectly done and very fresh. For dinner they ordered the steaks and I had the pork chop. Both were outstanding. Garlic mashed potatoes and string beans were the sides along with a salad. Both these selections were incredible. My chop had a bacon jam glaze that wasn't too overpowering but gave it that extra pop. After dinner I ordered the crème brûlée and again that was spot on delicious. But according to my bank statement, on the same day minutes, after at same restaurant, I was charged a second amount for somebody else's table,or some type of scam If I wasn't over .80 I would have never checked my bank statement. And saw the second charge for a different amount. And they would have gotten away with the theft of my money. And they said the problem was with my bank. Which my bank didn't make the charge.
