I can't believe I haven't reviewed L'Oca d'Oro yet. I've been here for brunch about four times now, and each time was an excellent experience, from the food and drink to the service and comfort of dining in. L'Oca has probably the easiest brunching experience of anything in Mueller, perhaps even many other restaurants outside of central Austin, as well. I say this because, well, it's not very busy on Sundays. Why? Not sure. Apparently they get a lot of business in the evenings, according to my boyfriend who works in the area, but this is a hidden-gem brunch if I ever saw one. The menu is simple, yet innovative. If you're someone who likes to have a lot of options for brunch, well, you might not have as many here. They have under a dozen entrees, three pastries (get them all), and some brunch cocktails like mimosas, "one of the best Bloody Marys in town" (per my boyfriend), and a lovely take on a French 75. On a recent Sunday, we ordered the Banh Fi, a version of a Banh Mi with pork/chicken liver pate, as well as the Soft Scramble (eggs, zucchini, fontina, semolina toast). Both were delicious, and so hearty that we could only finish half of each. We did, of course, order the Morning Bun to start, so that could have had something to do with it. The Morning Bun is the perfect blend of pistachio and citrus flavor with a flaky, buttery crust. Really, anything with bread here is fantastic. The prices also are incredibly good for the high quality of food and portion size. The mimosas won't be the cheapest in town, but you don't come here to have a sloshed brunch -- you come here to enjoy the flavors of the food that's been prepared for you. I love that they also pay a fair wage to workers and that gratuity is already included of 20%. We often have such a good experience, we tip on top of that. The only thing I'm upset about is that we hadn't come sooner. Coming from NJ, we miss Italian food so much. We were excited to smell the garlic while walking in! The handmade pasta was perfectly al dente; the homemade mozzarella was mindblowing. The chicken milanesa was so crispy (check out that pecorino tent on top). Foccacia had that amazing oak flavor. This review is for their family meal order ahead takeout service, as their awesome dining room and airy patio are closed due to the Covid-19 shutdown. Half-Italian son of a chef, I am no chef but I know good Italian food and THIS is awesome Italian food. I ordered a family size Lasagna with meatball ragu and a bottle of red wine with a big fat tip because these folks are awesome, around the corner from the pub I run, and trying really hard to survive while basically closed. Great idea. I got home to find an amazing salad kit I didn't even notice was included, and a 2 POUND lasagna ready to bake. The salad had Kale in it (not my thing generally) but the mix was perfect, the dressing amazing, the cherry tomatoes in Basil oil (named after me) and the crunchy baked bread crumb stuff was out of this world. But the kicker? A huge ball of fresh house-made mozzarella that was just sublime. Some on the salad, some more in my belly, the rest destined to be a part of every meal tomorrow. The lasagna was gooey, cheesy, meaty bubbling awesomeness, and there is enough here for 4 very large meals or 6-8 smaller or kid meals. [They have vegetarian options as well, but that is NOT how I roll] The wine was a moderately priced full bodied red that was a nice accompaniment to the meal without a big dine-in markup. Their setup asks you to order online early in the week for delivery on Thursday and Friday. They sell fresh homemade pasta as well as semolina bread and homemade desserts too. They are great people running a fine restaurant who are trying to innovate to deliver great food to you no-contact at curbside to help them survive this. THEY SHOULD, and you should go online and order on Monday or Tuesday next week. I am glad I did, and I look forward to visiting their dining room after the plague is behind us. read more

4.5. A stunning, gorgeous, bright, vibrant spot in the heart of Mueller with an amazing Italian brunch! The vibes here are on point! Staff are attentive, mild, and have stellar recommendations! We started off with a cup of drip coffee and white wine ON TAP! I wanted to order everything on the menu including the cocktails, but we settled in on the Merguez Sausage and Full Italian for brunch. The Merguez Sausage with polenta and greens was rich and vibrant. Exceptionally creamy! The greens just by themselves were fresh, clean and flavorful. The full Italian was a gorgeous plate! The bacon was crispy, the ham was flavorful and thinly shaved, the soft boiled eggs were the prettiest and tastiest eggs I've ever had, the peppers were tender and juicy and the greens were sooooooooo fresh and vivacious. L'Oca d'Oro is a slightly upscale modern Italian restaurant with an emphasis on sustainable farming and paying living wages (there is an automatic 20% tip included in the bill). All around pretty good stuff, though there is a corresponding increase in the price. The food quality is clearly pretty high. The appetizers were very good - I'm talking the best I've had so far across both Austin and New York. Go during happy hour (up through 6:30pm), a few of the appetizers are half-off and I definitely recommend picking 3 - 4 to try. Just make sure to get the L'Oca Mozzarella, it's really darn good. The mains though... pretty meh. You can taste that the pasta is fresh and hand-made, but the sauces were relatively uninspiring. That's part of the restaurant's package (modern, more light pastas with an emphasis on the pasta vs. the sauce), but I appreciate butter and cream all the same. All in all, recommend giving L'Oca d'Oro a try, just be prepared to spend some money. Next time I would order all the appetizers and honestly skip the mains. read more

My husband and I went to L'Oca d'Oro last Saturday for a date night. We ordered the focaccia and mozzarella to start. The focaccia was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it! The mozzarella itself was good, but I didn't love the turmeric flavored pickled vegetable on top (I think this is personal preference). For entrees we shared the pomodoro pasta and the pork milanesa. I loved the pasta, it had great flavor and a good bite. The pork was okay, but it was a little chewy and my least favorite dish that we ordered. We finished with the best tiramisu I've ever had...so delicious. I also really appreciate how great our service was and how they take care of their employees with a 20% service charge. Altogether a good dining experience, food was incredibly high quality and the wait staff were helpful, attendant, and very willing to share insights about the menu. Management also made a point to come say hi, and were quite pleasant. A bit pricey, but the Tagliatelle was worth it! I also appreciated their emphasis on paying their staff a fair wage, and gratuity was a pre-included (and mandatory) 20%. Probably won't come back constantly, but all in all, was good. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here on Valentine's Day, and it was a fixed menu, $85 per person. For $85 each, couples shared six small plates. Only one of these plates had meat (beef shank) and they were not very generous with the portion, it was mostly rice. The pasta dish and one of the desserts was pretty underwhelming and served cold. We told our waitress but nothing was done. Overall the food was decent and the service was good, but the portion size and unreasonable price point left a bad taste in our mouth that hindered the entire experience. Additionally, there was 20% mandatory gratuity added to our bill, which added insult to injury for the whole experience. I wouldn't recommend trying the fixed menu but I can see how a la carte ordering wouldn't be bad. However, we won't be back. read more

This place is yummers! I came here for happy hour and left hydrated and full. I got to try so many pasta dishes and that made me a happy man. Brisket lasagna - Yummmm! This was not as heavy as expected and lighter than your average lasagna which is quite surprising for lasagna and brisket. The dill and arugula really balanced out the dish by adding a nice freshness and peppery kick. Gnocchi - Holy crap, best gnocchi that my ever so limited palette has had the pleasure to experience. Get this! Crab casarecce - Also really good! Huge lumps of crab too! Carbonara - No surprise that this was also good. My least fave of the bunch since I thought it had the least amount of flavor but that could have been my perception of carbonara. The dish was a lot lighter than I expected from a sauce made from cheese, egg yolks, and pork fat--delicious though! We missed out on dessert but I'm coming back for that! read more

The thing you're never supposed to say...I'm going to say. "I really wanted to like this place." This supposed seasonal, 'authentic' Italian eatery really disappointed (overall 3.5 isn't great). The staff was nice enough; however, it couldn't make up for the yawn-inducing atmosphere with its generic décor (albeit I do appreciate an open kitchen and the neon sign outside was cool) and the less than stellar cuisine for the bucks they charge. Drink: As someone who likes to enjoy adult libations with my meals (do I have a problem?), I found their offerings of beer and spirits to be somewhat elementary. Unless you're in the mood for wine (okay list) your options are fairly limited. They offer a handful of signature cocktails, but did not have any vodka options during my visit (two were on the menu, but they were "out"). Food: Ordered some Crespome and was served 4 fresh slices of the salumi with three small crustinis that calculated the charcuterie to be ~$2.50 per [not even a whole; not evenly cut] slice. The Ricotta Gnocchi with beet puree was the best thing I had by far and that says a lot. The gnocchi were oddly greasy and unpleasant to the palate. I think the only reason it got a pass was because I've been on such a beet kick lately. The Frito Misto was kind of insulting. For a dish I typically really enjoy, LD's consisted of a minute amount seafood, with the small serving bowl filled almost entirely with onion rings. Seriously. At that point, my dinner guest and I decided to throw in the towel, ask for the check, and make our way to another eatery to "complete" dinner. The check: After reading some other reviews, it seems the way L'Oca d'Oro handles gratuity upsets many patrons. Even though it is stated on the menu in fine print (I didn't see it until after), receiving the check can lead to a little sticker shock. They automatically include a 20% "service fee" that they "distribute to the entire staff" and there is still a spot for +tip. I believe I am a generous when it comes to gratuity. I used to work in the service industry a million years ago and respect how hard the staff works for such little pay. If I get good service 20+% is my norm, but for them to auto-add and make people angry does nothing to help the waitstaff...I would imagine anyway. And, um, we aren't in Europe here folks, where gratuity isn't necessarily expected (always welcomed) because they actually get paid more than 3 euro an hour and it's reflected in the price of the food. Simply put, the vast majority of Austin restaurants don't employ this approach and some might find it confusing. Overall: The "small plate " trend that has invaded Austin in the last two plus years seems to give restaurants like L'Oca d'Oro an excuse to charge molti soldi for marginal fare. One antipasto, one app, one pasta (all tiny servings) and one beer (I had water), with already added gratuity, was $50.02. Just an observation, but there sure were a lot of empty seats on a Thursday night. Maybe LD is just another hyped-up establishment in the newly(-ish) revamped Mueller area? Sadly my experience left me absolutely no desire to ever return (barely passed the 3 star mark for me). I don't know if it was an "off night" or not. I don't want to chance such disappointment again. We're always on the lookout for the great handcrafted food, and this was...just wow. Bread & pasta made in-house, and local ingredients that leave you wanting more, but too full to take another bite; scrumptiously ended with a giant helping of tiramisu of great depth and endless layers. I can't stop gushing. Foccia bread with cultured honey butter and blood orange and burratta salad to start off. Beet risotto with a symphony of flavors and then rigatoni with miso for entre. And then, of course, the tiramisu. It was all wonderful. And I'm still thinking about that bread. And the great ambiance to match. What a neighborhood gem. Open kitchens are my fave. I had heard great things from my friends in the industry. They treat their employees well and it shows. Everyone looks happy to be at work and that means your food comes out beautiful and tastes incredible. We had a variety of things and everything was phenomenal. The cocktails are great as well! It's not a secret that Mueller is one of the hottest neighborhoods in Austin right now, so it's no surprise that the trendiest cuisine would find its way there. Austin has seen so many Italian places open on the scene and this spot is a welcomed addition. I came here on a recommendation from a friend for brunch. While she recommended the French toast, I had to try the spaghetti. Spaghetti for brunch? Hell yeah. The spaghetti is coated in two fancy cheeses that I can't remember the name of and can have an additional poached egg on top for an extra $2. I went this route, just so I could break open the yolk. But I think it was worth it. It added some dimension. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. The dish was solid. I also had their version of a Bloody Mary, which tasted like a garden tomato had a one night stand with a shot of vodka, organic, but will get ya drunk. The prices are a bit high, but comparable to the other Italian stops in town. I'd check it out for yourself if you're in the Mueller area! read more

Cute restaurant in the Mueller area - bummer that you have to pay for parking around here but it's not too bad. However, restaurants should be able to validate. HAPPY HOUR IS AT THE BAR/PATIO ONLY. That was the plan until we sat down in this private room and had to walk ourselves over to the bar (heh). Our waiter was sweet - had many good recommendations but sometimes felt like she was trying to upsell us.. "might as well get this, and this, try everything!!" Since we were clearly indecisive. Things that stood out: zucchini fries, surprisingly good. Mafaldine was divine. Spaghetti carbonara wasn't too special. The blue crab capresse was a tad salty. Docked a star because portions are small. And HH menu is quite limited when you look closely (only the * counts, and that's not much). I enjoyed my recent visit to L'Oca d'Oro, but I think it was a bit over-hyped. The atmosphere and service were definitely the highlights. We started with zucchini fries and the tomato crostini. The zucchini fries were unique and delicious. While the tomato crostini was yummy, I felt like it didn't taste much different than if I ate cheese and tomato on bread at home. I think it could have had more flavor or a twist. For our mains, we shared the gnocchi and the mafaldine pastas. Both were good, but far from the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The gnocchi came with potatoes. I thought it was a bit strange to serve a potato pasta with potatoes, but I'm not one to complain about double potatoes. It also came with oyster mushrooms. While our dish came with a heavy serving of gnocchi, only two mushrooms were in our bowl. The mafaldine had a good flavor, but I expected the pasta to be served more al dente. Since the pasta was fully cooked, it tasted more like a kid's dish than an adult dish. Overall, I had a good meal at L'Oca d'Oro, but I don't think it is worthy of the hype or price. read more

I really don't understand how people give a bad review to this restaurant. This is hands down one of the best in Austin, freshly made food, always changing the menu to something new but equally awesome. Been here 4 times and each one of them have been a great experience for me, my wife and guests. Went a couple of days and talked to manager, so kind she gave us some in house made pecan drink that was incredible with the coffee Gelato. Amazing service and food! Our waitress did a really good job explaining all the dishes on the menu and her recommendations. Appetizers: My friend and I shared 2 apps, a Porchetta plate and the Smoky Eggplant Dip. The porchetta was really light and tender and paired well with the cripsy bread (forgot exactly what kind of bread it was...) it came with. The eggplant dip was really unique because of the honeydew, which surprisingly paired really well with the eggplant. Entree: I got the Halibut Cioppino and it was amazing! The presentation was beautiful and the fish was really tender. The tomato based broth really helped to bring the flavors of the fish and the vegetables underneath together. Their menu changes often depending on what's in season and what ingredients are freshest during the week, so I'm excited to come back and try something new! read more

The experience overall was a bit disappointing. 1. Food: 2/5 Risotto - 1.5/5 Panisse - 3/5 Bucatini - 1/5 Cocktail - 4/5 The flavors were just off. The pancetta was a bit too salty. The mushrooms in the risotto were a bit soggy. The panisse was good but a couple of the pieces were not fully cooked in the middle. All three of the dishes were a miss unfortunately. 2. The table had a sticky bit where you rest your elbow 3. It was pretty loud at 8:30 but mellowed down 4. I am disappointed with the service, my wife found it fine. If shareable entrees are provided, like the waiter told us, I'd expect cutlery to serve the food into our plates. 5. The 20% automatic gratuity is a sham. Disappointing. Polenta was extremely dense, eggy, and Oily. Yuck. I appreciate desserts that aren't too sweet, but the canoli was not nearly sweet enough. Tasted like it was filled with unsalted butter. Some sweetness came from the peaches, but there was not enough to balance out the dish. L'Oca d'Oro is the definitely of Yelp's 3-star "A-OK" rating. While the food was not bad, it also was not great. The service was weird (but also pleasant?). Also, they charge an automatic 20% gratuity on every check (usually I would tip at least this amount, but given our experiences I would have chosen maybe 15-18%). Will probably not be back. So my friend and I shared: the salumi e formaggio (a meat & cheese board), mafaldine, and rigatoni. There were elements of each that we liked, but also elements of each that we disliked. Walked away with an average impression, and the memories of the food are quickly fading (as in, not super memorable). So we started out with weird/bad service. In the beginning, they told us a waitress (will not call her out) would help us. After an awkwardly long wait with no service, another guy (whom I suspect was the manager or owner) came to help us and he was super friendly! But, throughout our meal, we definitely saw our waitress being super friendly with and helping the tables immediately next to us. Super off-putting... but the service otherwise was pretty good, although I noticed our table tended to be ignored. Aside from taking/bringing our orders and filling up out waters once or twice, we were not spoken to. The meat and cheese board was actually pretty good. The porchetta and another pork piece were especially delicious. The pork liver mousse was more liver-y and heavy than something like chicken or duck liver, but was still good (I don't mind innards tastes, but some people may be caught off guard). The cheeses were not great, but were ok when eaten with the meats. Everything is made in-house, and I think the cheeses really reflect the homemade taste (as in, you can find better elsewhere lol but it was homey). I would come back just for this board, but the meat/cheese selections also change depending on what they make. The mafaldine was the better of the two pastas. The pasta was cooked a little past al dente, but it was still pretty good. The sauce was pretty good too, but tended to fall a tiny bit flat so by the end it was laborious to finish. The big reason I didn't like the mafaldine dish was because of the actual pasta. I'm not sure why, but the pasta was super short (as in, I could have eaten it with a spoon). I first noticed this when I was trying to get a pasta-lifting picture, but found that there was not a single piece of pasta that was lift-able because of the extremely short lengths. Makes me think either they purposefully cut the pasta really short (which is straight up shameful) or they used the short, leftover scraps to cook my dish (which is also straight up shameful). Either way, I was put off by the mafaldine. Combined with the way our original waitress straight up avoided our table, it made me think that there was something else going on.. The rigatoni was just alright. The smoked fonduta was heavy on the smokiness of the mozzarella, and the olive taste was actually pretty heavy too (even though we were told it would be rather light). Not bad, but the flavors combined with the over-zealousness of the dill were kinda weird. Definitely our least favorite dish of the night. Over all, the food wasn't bad, but wasn't great. You can definitely tell that everything is homemade (which has its perks and its drawbacks, especially when it comes to something like cheese and pasta). The tipping point towards not coming back was just the several super off-putting things about our service/pasta. read more

I've had dinner here twice and it was superb. Today I tried Sunday brunch and was very pleased again. I tried the Bloody Bartolo (Hacienda tequila reposado, roasted tomato, fermented chile, celery juice, celery bitters) and it was delicious. I may not have tried it if a Bloody Mary was on the menu, and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Then I went with the Full Italian (Sunny-side up eggs, baked beans, prosciutto cotto, slab bacon, roasted tomato, mushroom conserva, greens & toast) and it was cooked to perfection. Returned for a Passover Seder Dinner with friends and had an amazing time. It was my first Seder so I didn't know what to expect. The place was packed with lovely, happy people and the festivities run by a charismatic Rabbi and the always genial GM Adam. There were 7-9 dishes served family style and everything was delicious. Some things challenged my palate at first and then I couldn't stop eating them such as the Sweet potato, date & apricot tzimmes. The Horseradish Deviled Eggs w/ Puntarelle was one of my favorites as it was a twist on the normally great Deviled Eggs. The Brisket was maybe the tastiest I've ever had. So much flavor and a fantastic outer burnt end to it. All togeher this is a great place, run by great people, putting on great events. Hands down some of the best Italian food in Austin! We've been trying to come here for months and kept pushing it off, and now we're kicking ourselves for not coming sooner. Loved that they make some of their own liquors in-house, so we indulged in a few Amaro Argento Spritz. For starters, we had the Fresh Mozzarella, Wagyu Sirloin Tartare, and Beet Cashew Dip - all three were impeccable. The dip was such a surprise of flavor, even if you're not a fan of beets, I guarantee you'll love this dip. For the mains, we had the Cavatelli al Pomodoro, Bucatini, and Rigatoni alla Amatriciana. Again, everything was delicious. We were expecting the Rigatoni to be a little heavier, but it was so light without sacrificing any of the flavor you'd expect from a cream sauce. Same with the Bucatini, it had a citrus to it that elevated the dish. Service was phenomenal, you can really tell their staff enjoys working there and is passionate about the menu. Unfortunately we did not leave room for dessert, so will definitely back to try more! read more

Walked over with a friend who lives in the neighborhood for dinner Friday evening and it indeed felt like a neighborhood spot. Service was attentive without feeling like they were all up in our business or rushing to turn the table. We had the zucchini fries, which were tasty, but nothing spectacular. Shared the Spaghetti Carbonara and Eggplant Parmesan. It's not easy to find a good carbonara in this town and this one was very good. The pasta was perfectly cooked and I really enjoyed the chili crisp element. Would definitely order again. But the ABSOLUTE STAR of the night was the Eggplant Parmesan. DANG. Flavor wise and texturally that was BY FAR the best Eggplant Parm I've ever had. It also balanced out the rich Carbonara very nicely. I'll be thinking about this meal for a while. I think I finally have a favorite restaurant in Austin! This place was fantastic. I like be their mission for small footprint, fresh ingredients, and fair wages. They don't hide behind the small print with the gratuity, we were well informed and I stand behind the idea 100% as a former server myself. Every time we had was layered in flavors. Food: 4 Of the 4 dishes we got, I would say 3 were pretty delicious and 1 was mediocre. Porchetta Hash- I don't usually like duck, but it didn't taste like duck! (That's a good thing) it was wonderfully seasoned and a good portion. Mushroom Toast- this was my least favorite. The toast itself was small (but about an inch thick and soft and chewy) with avocado and mushroom. It didn't taste all that savory and was alright. Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe- this was really delicious! The pasta itself is a bit on the thicker side, so it was a but chewy (which I liked). It has a creamy sauce and tastes like carbonara! Not too much (portion) or heavy (flavor/consistency) and you don't get tired of the taste. Bacon&Egg Rotolo- if you're looking for a good savory food, THIS IS IT. The portion was just right (enough to fill you but too not much to make you feel disgusted at yourself lol) the kale was sweet and went perfectly with the saltiness of the bacon. Egg was poached(?) to perfection. We also got 2 pastries, Bostock (chocolate&almond brioche) and Ricotta Sfogliatelle. Ricotta was small. You might share with another person but might not want to. It tasted good tho! The bostock was well worth the $4, at least 2x as big as the ricotta. Tastes a bit more savory even with the chocolate. Service: 5 Great server, never had my tiny water glass empty because he was so attentive. Came by often enough to check on us, but not to an annoying extent. Food was brought out fairly quickly! Ambiance: 5 There's a bar, some seating next to it, one large private room, and more seating in the back! Very cute wallpaper. I love the vintage-y simple look. There were only 2 other parties when we went, so fairly quiet. Clean restrooms (gender neutral) with sinks outside. Would've been 5 stars but food was slightly disappointing compared to price. Not way too expensive but a little disappointed by the mushroom toast and the pastry. read more

Took my visiting sister here for dinner on a Sunday night. I will never go back. First, as mentioned by another patron, the drinks took ridiculously long to get to us but honestly we're both pretty chill so we didn't make a big fuss about it but I am 99% sure they just forgot to put the order in and then blamed it on it being a busy night (it wasn't that busy). Second thing I should mention is that we didn't research this place enough before going, they serve small plates at $24 each and we both really just wanted a big bowl of pasta. That was our bad, though but when they say small plates, you should know they REALLY mean small plates. The three meatballs we had were pretty good but tiny, I wish they would've at least given us some bread. The second dish we ordered was the panisse. It was like a dessert and way too sweet. We did not enjoy. The third dish we ordered was the rigatoni but they mixed up the order and served us the cavatelli. At this point, we were pretty ambivalent about the entire experience so we ate it and it was fine. Still starving we ordered the beet risotto as a last ditch effort, it was absolutely flavorless. This is when we finally threw in the towel. After taking a bite each, rather than just forcing ourselves through the $24 (lol) risotto we decided to send it back (something that I'm always apprehensive about doing) and we asked for the bill. I forgot to mention that I had ordered a second drink sometime before ordering the rigatoni and I literally watched the bartender clean the entire bar and was told that my drink would be a while because the bartender was backed up with orders. Regarding the service it was okay. No one was rude to us but the service lacked and they seemed pretty indignant about us not liking the risotto. After asking for the bill, they brought my drink and (I presume) the manager brought the bill and told me they had removed the risotto and were also going to offer my second drink on the house (I didn't ask for this but I thought it was a nice touch). After spending $100 on the meal, we were still starving so we walked around the corner to BD Riley's where, I swear I'm not being facetious, the service was excellent. read more

The food was amazing and everything was made fresh in house. I was actually surprised how good the food was. The service was great and the server really knew the menu and recommended some great items. Ambiance was beautiful as I set outside in saw the sunset while eating. I had been saving this place up as a special occasion place, but now I'm planning to make it a once-a-week neighborhood place. Everything about this place is excellent! The staff -- from Mincho the AGM to Dylan the server to the friendly host who answered the phone and told us she'd set aside a nice table for us -- is uniformly nice and professional. The space is modern yet comfortable. Best of all, the food is delicious! We had some of the best homemade mozzarella ever (and we've done some extensive tasting all across Italy). Pastas were perfectly al dente with innovative sauces, particularly the rigatoni with crunchy fried cheesy bits instead of bread crumbs or pine nuts. Genius! Tiramisu, limoncello, and various amari topped off the night. Planning to come back for happy hour, for quick dinners in the bar, and basically to haunt the place since we live about five minutes away. So happy to have an excellent neighborhood restaurant nearby! read more

Food, for the most part, was good. Most of us enjoyed our dishes. However, salt came at the end of the meal, and the meatballs were different than in the past. My daughter LOVES them but didn't even finish one. I told her that as things are seasonal, things changed. My mother asked for salt, though, and she was done eating for a while before it even came. This was the worse. Service was the big fail. We sat at 6:15 and there were maybe 4 other tables sat, certainly not even half full. It took literally 45 minutes to get drinks (besides water which we had to order). From there, after ordering, we had food on the table even before our drinks, which was missing an ice tea, which we were asked if 2 people were sharing the 1.... No, we ordered 2. We were a party of 6 with 2 ordering from the restaurant menu. Now, I have been here many times through the years as I live at Amli, so I know the service and how things come out. This time was very random, nothing like normal. They forgot the apps that came with the restaurant week meal and would have probably the dessert if one of the ladies hadn't ordered an expresso and said specifically she wanted it with it. Drink refills/re-orders were slow as well, and honestly, we were scared to even have the food boxed up, wondering how long that would take. Atmosphere - Good as always. LOVE the new painted floor, looks lovely. All in all, a bit disappointing for my brother's birthday dinner, and since it was his last night in town, I couldn't make it up to him. I told him next time I'll pick another spot, lol. I'll be back because I do love the food, but I will not sit with the same server, and I certainly will not bring out of towners! read more
