"Catch of the day" special: seared scallops over coconut spinach risotto with bacon glaze
    John K.

This was a date night on the Square before a concert next door at The Strand. We arrived a few minutes ahead of our 6:15 reservation & were seated right away. Kennedy was patient with our 1st visit questions & explaining the specials. We got a couple drinks (reasonably priced at $10-$12 these days) - a whiskey sour for me. Wife didn't love her raspberry caipirinha but I thought it was very good. Main course - scallop special over coconut spinach risotto for me was delicious & wife loved her seared ahi tuna (way too rare for me). One gripe - bathrooms are unisex so the men had apparently made a mess of the one my wife visited, which was gross for her. But everything else was very nice. With the two drinks & two entrees, we were out for $100 + tip. Be aware, menu warns of a splitting charge & there's also the now common 3 1/2% charge for credit card use. Gee, the more I write, I'm tempted to take back a star but I won't due to the otherwise nice time.

A nice spot, especially if you sit outside. The drinks are delicious but the food is a little over priced. We got a pizza to split & the crust was almost bigger than the pizza! Outrageous, especially considering this pizza is $25! They also do not have a lot of vegetarian options which is a shame. Save yourself some money & get bigger portions from surrounding businesses.

We had reservations for 6 at 6 on Saturday night. We were seated right away. My first reaction was "no one is hardly here..." We walked to the back passing the kitchen galley which enables a view of the food being prepared. Nothing amiss or off-putting; seemingly clean and efficient. Always a good thing for a first impression. We were seated and our host took our drink orders and told us the specials. He brought our drinks quickly, took an appetizer order and graciously provided us a few more minutes to peruse the menu. He returned with our appetizers and took our order. Again, we were amazed with the efficiency and flow. Everyone seemed very happy with their food choice. The menu has options for every palate. I ordered the Tuna Ahi Burger & Fries which I enjoyed very much. I am not a fan of wasabi but the wasabi mayo was the perfect accompaniment. The marinated cucumbers provide a fresh & authentic taste. I have never had stone ground mustard (it was on the charcuterie platter) and was pleasantly delighted with the texture and taste versus Dijon which I am accustomed to. At 6:30, it did start getting busy and I now understand why reservations would be necessary. We probably stayed a bit longer than what is deemed acceptable but it was a compliment to the drink, food, service, and overall aesthetic. Live music was performing in the front when we left which was quite good and not overbearing and loud. Kudos and hope to return again soon.

Annual brunch with our west cost best friends while they're home for the holidays
    Brooke G.

Stopped in a few days after Christmas right at opening (11am) for brunch with our of town friends whom we see yearly when they visit family for the holidays. They always choose the spot and get the reservation. This is where they chose this year. Though we did have a reservation we did not need one. I'm not sure if that is typical as this was our first time here. We were virtually alone during our meal which was nice. The space is lovely if a little dark and service was good. Quick friendly and attentive without being overbearing. When I say we were there for brunch, I use that term loosely as they do not serve brunch on Saturday, only Sunday which bummed us out honestly. If you are looking for "brunch" menu you will need to dine here on Sunday. We instead order from the normal "lunch" menus. I ordered the soup of the day (tomato basle) which was very good. So yummy, sort of more earthy and almost nutty. It was very good and I would absolutely order again. For my main I ordered the Sweet Thang salad as my body was craving greens after weeks of excess during the holidays season. It was good, not great. A lot of the flavors I was excited about n the description got a little lost. The size was good though-often times salads are too big for my personal taste and you end up leaving a lot. This was the perfect size. I also want to. It's it was a little soggy. This could have been my own fault though as I did let it sit for 5-10 min as our table chatted. It wasn't bad, I just maybe would order something else if we return ever. It wasn't bad just not outstanding either. I did not order a dessert (it was noon-ish when the time came). I did want to order the bread pudding as it's a favorite and just *have* to order it whenever it's an option, but it is a revolving flavor (not just a basic bread pudding) and the flavor on the day I was there was a pineapple which wasn't not appealing to me at the time. The fried chocolate cake sounded really good as well but I just didn't need any more sugar so I skipped it. All in all I have to say I was a little disappointed by not having more traditional "brunch" options as I wasn't really in the mood for a burger or sandwich or normal food and it was a little dark. But they were friendly and knowledgeable. They also didn't hassle us out the door once we had paid so we could sit and chat and catch up so this would be a great spot for a double date or group situation for lunch or dinner. I would return if in the area for sure but I would prefer to come for a dinner as the space feels like a dinner spot. We're not super local (Vinings area) so I'm not sure we'll have an opportunity to bit of one arises I would definitely come back.

This was the grouper over yucca cake with a mango salsa. Delicious!!!

Finally made it in here. I've been wanting to for a bit. We will go back for sure. The place itself is delightful. Strange ... but I could feel the history in the building and I don't even know the history. Their espresso martini was oh so yummy. We had the banh mi egg rolls and shared the grouper. Both were delicious! I forgot to take a picture until almost the end of the grouper. Sorry! The bar wait staff were super nice too!

Entrance. We shut the place down and were the last people to leave!

When I was looking for a restaurant tables and patrons were outside and I saw a server. I just asked, "How's the food, do you recommend this place?" Of course I knew he would say, yes. I followed his advice and was thrilled with the choice! There is a beautiful bar, high top tables, booths, exposed brick and more seating in the back. A trendy place if you need an event location. The food will make you want to brag to your mama! And that will just get you in trouble! lol A couple of items to highlight are drinks - blueberry cosmopolitan, beet salad, ahi tuna and fish tacos! Really, I can't say enough good things about the servers being attentive and the food was delicious and fresh! There were four of us and we all loved our meals! The Marietta Square has a historic presence and many restaurants and I always enjoy shopping and dining in this area.

Good spot in downtown marietta! Great drinks & yummy food. Their mussel appetizer is soooo yummy, awesome sauce & the bread is great. I ordered the steak tacos with corn tortillas. They were good but needed bit more seasoning.

Came here for dinner with a friend and had a lovely dining experience. We were seated on time and our server took care of all of our needs and even had good wine recommendations. I really enjoyed the crab cake and the risotto was really creamy and flavorful. I will definitely be back!

Every time we eat here, everything's great, food, and service and ambience. We love that is next-door to the Strand theater.

Hi! Is there a web site for the Marietta location of this restaurant please? I've checked, but only able to find one for the Canton location -- which is "localonnorth" (not allowed to put in full address). Thanks in advance!

I googled it and found it.

My prompt to my gpt this morning included "family owned, cozy place, food that hugs you like a grandma after a long time away, etc" this is one of the best places I've been in USA so far. I also woke up idealizing to only try new things and no repeats but I've already ordered a second drink haha I absolutely don't want to leave. As soon as you walk in they greet you and help you out, then the bartender (I came by myself so I sat on the bar) approached me with the most warmth and helped me getting something according to her experience and taste but considering my taste and preferences. The food came (quick for how busy it is 12 min) The food tastes just like a grandmas food that she's been working the entire day on it. I can't wait to be back here. Also I didn't have anything the entire day and couldn't finish my plate because the amount of food is way more than decent. Place is clean, music is great and volume even better, you can see families bringing their babies to enjoy meals here. Also everyone that works here and so nice and polite even if they're not serving you this is my favorite place from now on and I will not shut about it haha adding a picture of my drink (which we are repeating ) and plate that I'll be bringing the leftover home

The standout for me was easily the jerk chicken eggrolls. They were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and had just the right amount of heat. Upon selecting our own seating, we were informed that they were NOT serving brunch and they were out of eggrolls. Additionally, our server is stuck in traffic, so we have to wait until her arrival. While waiting for our server to arrive, we were "entertained" by an unaccompanied child a few times. There were 6 women in our party. All enjoyed their food and drinks (which were strong). I ordered the Rasta Pasta with no protein. I wanted to order the Cajun Pasta with Vegetables but was informed by the server that they don't really have vegetables and that she does not recommend that order. I appreciated the honesty. The Rasta Pasta was good - B+. When we finished our meal, we requested little plates to serve the birthday cake. We were brought plates. Shortly after, to our surprise, the other party that was there had a birthday song along with sign and sparklers presented to their table. Our table did not receive that treatment. I asked our server why we didn't get that treatment, she stated because they had their cake stored in their kitchen. This was an unacceptable response. Our server was well aware of our table's birthday celebration as she commented on the cake when she first arrived and asked whose birthday it was. To receive no acknowledgment felt very disrespectful. To add insult to injury, the other party was an all-white crew, while my party was an all-black crew. The food and drinks were good. However, the poor service and accommodations, lack of brunch and acknowledgment for our birthday girl, has made my decision to never return.
