As you walk in you are greeted with exquisite smell of fresh Birria! Authentic Goat Birria... Seat yourself , fast paced environment and they get your food out to you fast and super hot! We had the Birria plate with rice and beans and a cup of consomé (broth) on the side. Just absolutely delicious. Comes with fresh made tortillas (corn) and white onions and cilantro with lime. You have to try their red table salsa, it's one of those flavors that yeah it's spicy but you can't stop eating it. The Machaca plate with beans and rice was also delicious! Was down by USC & my husband & I decided to look up a Mexican restaurant to grab lunch. I gave 4 stars because the machaca burrito fell short in my opinion. I always felt that El Tepeyac has the best Machaca burritos you'll ever eat. Their Lengua on the other hand is out of this world delicious! 5 stars! Best I've ever had. Tender & tasty! We also tried their cheese enchiladas with green sauce and they were pretty good. They ran out of Chili Rellenos which is what my husband really wanted. Service was good. For the price not a lot stands up to this place. Found it after getting hungry by Keck and loved their selection of food and deceptively small area opens up to a massive seating space. My players and I got 4 meals added to 38 bucks. The portions are massive and they don't skimp on the agua frescas either. Ok now I'm the first to support our community and the small independently owned brick and mortar establishment and their efforts to try and compete with the larger chains that seem to have a hold on the culinary scene. Enter 3 Cochinitos a neighborhood hole in the wall that provides quality home style Mexican cuisine to the predominantly Latino community of Lincoln heights. From their succulent pork carnitas to their delicious chilaquiles along with their ambiance it seemed to be a winning combo until today. I ordered 2 carnitas burritos and upon pick up I was met with the unpleasant surprise of paying 32 dollars! What happened to the charming hole in the wall? Can the local clientele afford to pay 16 dollars for a burrito? It remains to be seen . Now I understand that everything here in ca is extremely expensive and restaurants have to pass some of the overhead on to the consumer but is it feasible to pass such drastic price increase to the consumer? I took my wife to Los Tres Cochintos in Lincoln Heights to have breakfast with me and experience a home cook style breakfast. The restaurant is on Main St just couple blocks away from Dino's for their world famous Greek style chicken. Well anyways one thing to hard to find on Main St is parking because the restaurant is in residential area also close by Lincoln Park and USC General Hospital tight I don't the people find parking and eat at the restaurant. I found parking just a block away from the restaurant then we walk to the restaurant then we step. We look at the menu display what catch our eye my wife saw her favorite dish chorizo with egg and she order it. It was touch choice but I decided to order the machaca con huevo know as shredded beef with egg both plates comes with rice and beans and your choice corn or flour tortillas. We decided to eat outside but they brought the food to you. More people were coming to the restaurant for picking their order or eat there this restaurant is very popular in the morning. They brought our food to table and the food was in the container. We both open the container we can smell the food,we couldn't wait to take a bite. I took a bite of my Machaca with egg full of flavor and season well with vegetables and spice in the Machaca with egg. The beef was very tender season well. The rice and beans were so good full of flavor in the rice and bean I really enjoy and also I got two flour tortillas and I put my Machaca and rice and bean in the four tortillas it was so good and delicious and also have my Mexican Coca Cola by my side. I ordered some food for pick up. The restaurant isn't obvious from the street and can easily be passed by. I went inside and it was full or people eating, and it looked like a hidden little gem they knew about and I was just discovering. I liked that the cooks were busy tending to the boiling pots and grills. I was excited to try my meal, especially after all the great reviews and seeing the crowd in the dining area. I ordered a lengua and barbacoa plate with rice and beans, and an horchata. The horchata was delicious. One of the best ones i've had from a restaurant. Totally satisfying. Where things fell short for me was the lengua didn't have much flavor. The barbacoa was missing flavor too and I got a piece with a TON of chewy collagen. The barbacoa was not cooked enough either, as it was not falling apart but stayed in big, chewy clumps, with way too much collagen. So disappointing. The beans and rice were better than average, but not impressive. I had higher hopes for this mom and pop restaurant but I ultimately was let down. The red salsa was SPICY. But I didn't like the flavor. It was like spicy, sour water. No flavor. Why is it so difficult to find amazing Mexican food, unless you're in Mexico? I paid nealy $30 and I did not think it was worth it. Overpriced for the amount of food I received and lack of flavor. read more

I really enjoyed the green enchiladas from here. The only thing i would not recommend anyone is getting the cheese enchiladas and Chile relleno like me. Even though they were delicious, they both had a lot of cheese. It was to much cheese for me. I was really hungry. The drink was tasty too. Delicious. I appreciate the service here. Been to this little hole in the wall many times before for some good menudo. It closed during Covid so hadn't gone in a while. Just picked up menudo and it is not the same. The meat is all cheap parts of the pansa. If you're a menudo eater you know what I'm talking about. It tasted cheap like Super A market menudo except this place charges $15. Overall a very good mom and pop joint in Los Angeles. There isn't much here NOT to like. From the food to the fast service this small place is doing it all and doing it well. The only things that kept me from giving it 5 stars were small things. Number 1, no complimentary chips and salsa, I know that's being picky but that's just me. 2nd, no fountain drink station at all. All drinks are refrigerated bottles and cans. Outside of that everything else was fantastic. We got a table right away (you seat yourself) we received menus and drinks promptly. Once we ordered our food was brought out in less than 10 minutes. My green enchiladas(De pollo/chicken) had outstanding flavor. My wife's tacos de chicharron and asada were delicious. Tiny restaurant that is only open for breakfast and lunch. They serve Mexican food, like huevos rancheros, burritos, birria and also menudo on the weekends. It's kind of like a Mexican diner. I've eaten here a couple of times, it actually kind of hidden in plain sight, definitely a neighborhood kind of place, you can blow past this joint easily and not notice it. The menudo was alright, kind of one note and not that rich or complex as some other places. I'm gonna have to come back and try their birria (they use goat here instead of beef). As far as their other plates, they were decent. I wouldn't drag a friend thats visiting from out of town here, its not really destination grub, but it's decent food and they cook it to order. One time in Zacatecas, I was excruciatingly hungover. Like thought I was gonna die. Then I had this consume de birria (and a beer of course), and all became tolerable once again. That consume saved my life! This is the birria by which all others are measured. I'm absolutely not a person who claims that all the best Mexican food can only be found in Mexico. But it's not easy to find great birria (de chivo! none of this faker res BS) because it's just not as popular here as it is there. That said, I happily drive to Los Tres Cochinitos for the birria, con caldo of course. Not fancy, just really very good. Oh, and no alcohol. I like the menudo too, especially since they serve con pata if you like. Also, choice of with/without maisitos. I try to convince someone to order it so I can share. :P Not a fan of the tamales; they are rather dry. But the sopes are tasty and served with cabbage. (If I get a sope with lettuce, oh the side eye that I couldn't hide if I wanted to lol.) Usually there is ample street parking. Also, they sell menudo in large quantities too so take an olla if you're feeding the fam. read more
