There green salsa was absolutely fantastic and Fresh Guac was great too. Food was good but i will say little blend to my taste. We had multiple dishes and over all good stuff. Another perfectly cromulent burrito joint in the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square side of Chicago. I come by here to satiate my burrito cravings a few times a month and have never been disappointed. The pork is especially great in all styles of tortillas and sauces. We ordered take out from here. It was dollar taco day, all kinds, no limit. we each had the al pastor which was good and I had a chorizo, which was very good! we also split the regular nachos and they were also very good. I'm glad they are open late....it's not a place I can say I'm head over heels about, but it's certainly a nice option to have in the neighborhood! read more

I ordered take out from GrubHub. The cheese quesadilla was good, just two tortilla's with cheese in between but I thought the flavor was still good. I had the skirt steak burrito and it was delicious! For the price, there is a lot of meat in the burrito (I hate when you get a burrito with meat and 90% of it is just refried beans). I have to say I've been missing good Mexican food since I moved up to Chicago and this place definitely was exactly what I was looking for! I don't know where the people who left good reviews have eaten Mexican to think this is good food. Ordered for delivery for 5 people and not one person liked the food. To start, the Tamales where all corn meal with a strip of pork going thru the middle that was dried out and chewy like jerky. The chicken tacos were dry. One friend got the steak fajitas and only 10% of the steak was edible, the rest was all fat. The only good thing was the rice and beans that thankfully came with each meal otherwise we would have to had to order a pizza for dinner...If you are someone who enjoys authentic Mexican food...go somewhere else..where? Who knew this was right around the corner from my work (well now old work)?! A co-worker and I stopped in for an early dinner. It's a simple restaurant, with nice staff, and really good, well-priced food. I had the big chicken quesadilla and my friend had the chili relenos. Both of us dug in and enjoyed our meals! This place is really delicious and very accommodating. I had a late lunch here Sunday, a MUCH delayed brunch really, and it was great. They substituted avocado for meat in some vegetarians' burritos, and made mine vegan for me. I had the chicken flautas, and they are delicious. Some places over cook their flautas, but not here! And oh good lord, the guacamole is fantastic... super refreshing and light tasting with a slight crisp that is delightful, thanks to the cucumbers in it. I wish I had ordered it as an appetizer, because the dollop I got with my meal was just a tease of its awesomeness. I just moved in to a new apartment by La Amistad this month, and I've already visited twice. Their food is priced well. The food is fresh and not greasy. It's BYOB which is great. The service is good too. Sundays they have a $1.50 taco special. My new favorite local stop for Mexican food. read more

I am leaving the A OK 3 stars.. As this is all it is. The pico de gallo is pretty good, chips are OK, carne asada is a bit bland actually, carnitas and al pastor are kind of average. Price is good. If I needed Mexican in Ravenswood I'd probably go here. The staff is really nice however, but I generally just judge on food not the service or decor. read more

Oh, how I love Pozole! The best I've had from any Take-out joint the only add ins missing for me was the jalapenos and radishes. Also tried a fish taco, and since I not really a big fan of the usual slaw that's found on most fish tacos, I was pleasantly surprised to have this one with mango salsa and a slice of avocado. Food was delivered hot as if it came fresh out the kitchen. Only gripe is that the soup was a little expensive. $9 for about two hearty bowls...but I would definitely visit again. read more

I love this little place! Friendly staff, great food, good prices and BYOB. It's our favorite little neighborhood Mexican restaurant. In the summer they also have a little outdoor sidewalk seating area. It's just a few tables, but it's a nice area to people watch while enjoying Mexican eats and drinking a glass of wine. This past weekend I tried out their steak gordita, it was amazing! There tacos, enchiladas, flautas, and guacamole are all on point. My husband and I have tried them all (in our numerous visits to this restaurant). My only recommendation for this restaurant would be to switch up the red salsa, it's so hot I can't eat it:/ I also wish it was a little chunkier. Definitely check this place out if your looking for a quick bite in a casual atmosphere, and don't forget to BYOB! read more

Food is decent - not the best but not the worst I order here regularly and and they want to charge for "extra sauce" ? Really? Don't mexican restaurants leave an entire bottle of sauce out when you go eat - but they want to charge 35 cents extra for sauce in a super small to-go container. Talk about super petty! You order 20 bucks in actual food and they want to nickel and dime you. Last time ordering at this petty ass place that obviously has no care in the world for their regular customers. This place is just not good. We have tried it several times and it has gotten worse. Food tastes old and as if the beans and steak have been sitting and cooking all day. Dry salty and just not fresh. We have eaten in and that was a bit better but we have officially given up. Food needs an overhaul. read more

We were looking for an evening snack and ordered carryout, just something simple: chips and guacamole and a pair of horchatas. The chips were fine and the guac was delicious, but the horchata was the worst I've ever had, tasting like it was made from a powder and barely containing any flavor at all. While I doubt La Amistad is a bad place for a bite to eat, I don't see myself ever returning there. If a Mexican restaurant can't get horchata right, I just don't know that I can trust them to do much else. read more

I love this place. Ordered delivery last year and asked them not to put onions in the Guac, so they made it with cucumber instead! It tasted great, and now I get it every time. Also, this last Sunday I ordered for delivery but did not notice they were pickup only at that time. They called me and said they would deliver just for me! So nice. Average food......HORRIBLE service......completely clueless. These people took 2 hrs to deliver a small order and then gave me attitude when I asked if they could discount it because of the wait time. Definitely lost a customer.
