Excellent bagel shop close to Prospect Park! The inside is roomy and welcoming and the service was so helpful, even letting us try samples! There's a huge variety of everything and I decided on a whole wheat everything bagel with scallion tofu cream cheese, lox, tomato, and capers. It was a loaded sandwich that took me a solid half hour to eat. It was delicious, with fluffy, doughy bagels, generous portions of lox, and glob of cream cheese. The price was pretty steep at almost $20 for a bagel and it reminded me of Manhattan prices. But that's Park Slope for you! read more

This is like my 17th time coming to this location but hadn't been for about a year. I was craving a good sandwich... like a really good sandwich. The bodega wasn't gonna cut it (although there are some awesome bodega sandwich spots, don't get me wrong) Then it hit me that I wanted a Hot Pastrami Sandwich... and I b-lined it to this spot on 7th ave It was everything I remembered. Massive, juicy, a bit messy and DELICIOUS! So good. It's appropriately priced at around $10... I know that's kinda expensive when you hear it but it's a huge sandwich. You can def eat half and he happy. I've never ordered anything else here so this 5 is totally based off one sandwich and consistency. I have been coming here for the past 6 months or so and typically get either a cinnamon raisin bagel or blueberry bagel. I can't believe I have not seen anyone else in the comments bring this up, maybe the changed the recipe or the way they are storing the bagels have changed but these bagels taste like legit chlorine. I thought I was going crazy, maybe my taste buds have changed but I asked my boyfriend to try it and he immediately spit it out. Has anyone else notice this chlorine taste? It's just awful and lingers in your mouth. There aren't too many bagel spots in walking distance so I keep coming back to see if it will be different and it never is. Multiple people recommended this place to me, so I made a special trip to try the bagels here. The bagels didn't live up to their hype. We ordered a bagel that was supposed to have feta cheese on it, but they didn't have feta, so we got mozzarella instead. The mozzarella was pretty disappointing because it didn't give the same tang that feta does. The bagel lacked flavor and depth. We also got a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, and that was pretty standard. I'm pretty upset about the egg bagel, but the cinnamon raisin one was ok. I'm super simple when I comes to bagel. I just get a sesame bagel. Not toasted. Lol. And I got one here couple days ago and it was nice and fluffy and delicious! I'll definitely stop by again. There were plenty of other customers there on a Thursday morning around 8:45am. If you're ordering a sandwich, I'll prob come a tad early so you give yourself enough time. I came later in the day, so the bagel didn't taste "hot out of the oven" like it would for breakfast. With that said, the texture was still excellent and the portion was large. La Bagel has been around forever and they continue to be a shop that is both efficient and friendly. That's not what you usually get when you go to a bagel shop. It's either one or the other.
