The over all experience here was okay. The food came out hot which was wonderful. And the steak in the steak fajita quesadilla was tasty. The salsa was good, but not great. I ordered the house margarita and honestly, that's what brought my over all rating down to a 3 . The margarita was just not good at all. I didn't even finish it. Which is a shame because it was $6 and in the cutest glass. But honestly, I don't know if it's the mix they use or if it was the house tequila or what, but it was not good. Thankfully the food was good. So now I know just not to order the house margarita but honestly it makes me scared to order another drink here other than beer. And ya can't get Mexican without a margarita, amarite? The patio was nice though. And while the server didn't seem so happy, he did get everything needed to us in a timely fashion which is always appreciated.

If you know, you know...but in case you don't.. here is my review! You are seated without a wait and the service is usually good. Close to work and it was about 6 people in the party. The food was good, no complaints, but this was not my selection this time.

    Love me some Mexican food!

Second time at this restaurant. The staff is friendly. The establishment is clean and easy to find on the corner of State St. The Bamba bowl was very filling and the margarita helped it all down smoothly.

I thought I had experienced all of the Mexican restaurants in Greensboro... Until we stumbled upon this gem! The service was fast, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the location is pretty fun. We will be back soon!

Remember that chicken soup I was telling you about.... Add burrito sauce..... again.... Thank me later.... Ok...actually...thank my husband

By far my favorite Mexican spot ever! I've been 3 times in the past 2 days (sorry no pictures I was so hungry!) My faves are the fried burritos (with red AND cheese sauce) or you can get a good ol' #11 combo! They have a secret gem that's not on the menu..... chicken soup.... Thank me later!!

    Philly Cheesesteak tacos

Unclear why every menu doesn't include a Philly Cheesesteak Taco and why I've just now had one. These were honestly so delicious and a nice spin on a traditional taco! They were very large tacos and filled nice and full so much so I was only able to eat one by the time I had a little rice and chips with guacamole! Speaking of the Guacamole, it was just me eating so I got a small Guacamole and while the guacamole with Pico in it is normally my favorite, I knew it would go to waste with just me eating it so I got the regular small guacamole, I wasn't expecting much it packed a little punch I must say!

This local Mexican joint is a common stopping place for my husband and I as its in walking distance. We dined-in right before COVID caused the stay-at-home order in mid-March. We have also gotten take-out a couple of times since then. We are not dining-in restaurants much yet but La Bamba has a very large dining area and outside seating, which is good for COVID social distancing practices for those that are. At the time of these photos, I got the dinner Mixed Fajitas (chicken and steak with grilled onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers). Meat and vegetables are always cooked nicely and seasoned well. Fajitas are served with rice and your choice of beans (you can actually get black beans here, which isn't an option at some of our go-to Mexican restaurants so this is a top choice place for me when being healthy as I don't want refried beans), guacamole, sour cream, salad, pico, and flour tortillas. I do wish they did offer corn tortillas as well as I prefer them and generally healthier. Maybe something they can consider for the future! Plenty of food for two meals! My husband got the Enchiladas Suizas- three chicken enchiladas with cheese sauce and ranchero sauce served with rice. I had a bite and delicious! Also, a nice size portion. Their complementary chips and salsa are also yummy. They give you so many chips when you get take-out as well. Absolutely felt safe when got take-out, cashier is behind glass, wearing mask and gloves, hand sanitizer around, etc. Food is always packed nicely and so far; orders have been correct. No doubt I will be back many times!

    Queso dip (small)
    Fiona P.

Order take out from them twice and both times the food was yummy! Absolutely love the queso dip. I always get the carnitas tacos. The first time it came with hot sauce but this time it didn't (it was better with hot sauce) but each entree came w chips and salsa so I just used the salsa for my tacos and it was fine.

They're cheese dip is also to perfection not thick and lumpy.

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

Service was really bad. Our server was absolutely terrible. Got most of our order wrong despite showing her the items on the menu. She didn't check the table at all and we had to send other employees to get her and even then she performed what was a very simple job extremely poorly despite having only one other table. Ambiance was terrible. Music was so loud. We had to actually yell at each other as did the other patrons and we asked multiple times to turn it down without success. Will never return to this awful restaurant.

True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!

It did not need any flashiness or grandeur- just some good food and good vibes. Now the food: WOW I was blown away by the pork belly garlic fried rice. The pork belly was so incredibly fatty and perfectly crispy, the shrimp add-on was juicy and well seasoned, and the fried egg over a bed of DELICIOUS steamy garlicky fried rice was absolutely perfection. And they do NOT skimp on the portions. This heaping bowl was just $15, and it was generously topped with the pork belly.
