A very good ribeye steak at a cost of $11!! comes with a guacamole salad, refried beans, and rice. We eat here at least once a week (usually 2-4 times) I am sad to admit that!!! They have the best chips and salsa in town!!! My go to meal is the chicken special (grilled chicken, queso, rice, and beans), the chimichangas are to die for!!! This place is hopping around lunchtime, especially from the folks who work down the street at the hospital. Is it the best mexican food I've ever had? No But have I ever had diarrhea from the place? No. And no I don't take imodium before going there. But for the price the food is very good. At most you wait 10 minutes for a table even when the line is out the door. This place used to be our go to for Mexican food, but sadly it has become our bottom choice. The service we received was sub par. Our waiter took our order then forgot it all together and had to come back to our table and ask us twice what we had ordered. We ordered the chorizo dip as a "appetizer" and it was delivered with our meal. I had the chicken chimichangas while my guest had the Texas fajitas. The sad little chimi looked like the size of a fried egg roll with cheese sauce on top. My guests Texas fajitas came with no salad plate and the tortillas were forgotten. So we had to wait and ask for them. All in all we decided that this was the end of us coming back to La Bamba. read more

probably one of the worst Mexican restaurants in Greensboro... actually they might be it. the service was really bad. all of the food tasted like it was prepared yesterday and just reheated in the microwave and the place just looks unkept. we had to send our "fresh" guacamole back since the tomatoes were rancid. no one came to talk to us or apologize for the horrible experience, except for the waiter when he asked me "are u done?" before bringing my check back. really sad considering it's supposed to be an authentic restaurant. save yourselves the bad meal and go to Taco Bell instead. This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant since we moved back to NC in 2008. Friday nights are usually busy and everyone is usually great but tonight went so wrong that I felt compelled to share my experience tonight. First of all, when we arrived at 6:00 pm, there was only about 6 couples dining. Our waitress took our order, brought our drinks and never came back. She must have passed our table at least 10 times going to other tables but never stopped at our table to ask if we needed anything. Granted, if I really needed something, I could have stopped her but I am used to a waitress in an almost empty restaurant stopping by at least a couple of times. When it came time for my check, I had to go to the checkout to get it. Usually they ask how your service was when you pay, but not tonight. So, the food was okay, but the service was really bad - they basically seemed indifferent whether we were there or not. Who wants to eat where they don't care? This is my last planned visit here. I like Santa Fe Grill on Pisgah Church Rd and North Elm St much better. In fact, some of the waiters from La Bamba have actually started working here as well. read more

This was at one point in time the best Mexican place in town. That is not the case now. Service was awful. Food came out wrong, management was informed and did nothing. If I was basing this review on my meal I would have given one star. My dining partner's meal was much better. I ordered the beef burrito that came with a chile relleno and beans. I asked if the chile relleno was stuffed with cheese and the waiter said it was beef. If I wanted cheese, he said to order the chile poblano with cheese. He claimed it was the same, only cheese. Absolutely not true! It was a poblano stuffed with cheese, no batter, and completely smothered in so much red sauce that your couldn't taste the pepper. The burrito was a small flour tortilla filled with only ground beef, nothing else. It also was covered, and floating in the same red sauce as the poblano. My partner had the camaronesas de diablo. It was good but nothing special. It came with the guacamole salad that we had to remind them to bring. It came when we were done eating. It was nothing special. Mediocre guacamole on top of shredded lettuce with a pale slice of tomato on top. The margaritas were good because we ordered them with top shelf tequila. Service was slow. While La Bamba is never going to make me forget some of the great Tex Mex places back home in Texas, there is still a great deal to recommend the establishment, in particular as an excellent place for lunch. The food is good, the service is generally quick and good and, when one is limited to an hour for lunch, the plates are on the table quickly and hot. Of course you almost have to be an alpine mountain climber to get up the parking lot to the front door. It's very steep. Once you've made the climb, though, the overall experience is worth it. I'm particularly fond of the fried taquitos, however, I've enjoyed their lunch chimichunga, and their steak and chicken lunch specials as well. All are tasty and quite filling. And the price is the best part. I can often have lunch with my wife there for less than a lunch for either of us costs at other eateries. There are Mexican restaurants all over the Triad but more often than not they are missing seasoning in their ground beef. That is not the case at La Bamba. Salsa and chips arrived quickly. Drink orders were filled promptly. Food is served quickly, in reasonable quantity with excellent flavor. The menu is expansive and complete with many of the staple items you'd expect. Waitstaff is attentive and added to a great experience worth repeating. Recommend for large groups, families and twosomes. There is no solo table options. read more

this restaurant does not even deserve a review but here we are back at it again. first off, we sit down and the waitress takes our orders. normally ACP is the same everywhere. oh no not here. but oh well. so we get the "chicken special" with NO BEANS. what do we get. "chicken special" WITH BEANS. the nerve. going on. so we eat and literally the waiters were staring at us while we were eating. not good customer service at all. after we are done we get our checks. they dropped 2 of our cards and had to ask which was which. like we gave it to you with the ticket. how is it hard. not sure. oh it gets better. they switched up the tickets and charged us for the wrong meals. after explaining that to them, we had to wait a solid 15 minutes to help them figure out THEIR mistake. while we were waiting, the gum ball machine was not giving us what we paid for. once again all of the waitresses were staring at us and was not doing there job. like at least clean that piece of garbage. they gave us plates that were scolding hot and they burned us. not looking good for this restaurant. it was embarrassing for them. everything about that trip was not it. one server had a very bad attitude and was not being kind whatsoever. they need to work on the customer service for one and they need to learn how to take orders. never again will i go there to the little bambi place. read more

I wish I could give it a ZERO. 601 State street. This place does not deserve even one star. One girl working register and our waitress. Not friendly. Cheese dip tasted like it was sour and old. Once we got our food she disappeared and we waited over 25 minutes to get refil and check. She never came back. My husband went to front counter and grabbed us a to go box and we walked up to register to get check and pay. Another wait. Finally a man comes and charges us more than we should pay. I paid just to get the hell out of there. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE ATTITUDE AND SERVICE. Do not waste your money here. We left thirsty and hungry after paying $50. I ordered a chicken chimichanga lunch special and I asked for extra tomato on my guac salad. I was told that this would cost an extra .75 cents. No problem, I love tomatoes!! However, when I got back to work and opened my salad it literally had an extra HALF of a slice of tomato!! For .75 cents??!! Come on La Bamba! If you are going to charge that much extra can I at least have an extra WHOLE slice??!! I am not going to say I won't be back because that would be a lie but somebody needs to address this. I used to love this place until last Friday. Went there for lunch with a coworker and shortly afterward we both felt sick to our stomach. I had the taco salad (which is usually amazing), and she had fajitas. The food tasted different but I brushed it off. This is one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've eaten at. Everything comes out of a can and is the consistency of baby food. Was traveling to another office for work and the girls in that office always eat here and took me. Overall it was good.. I ordered one of the combo plates with a chicken taco and a chili rellano... the chili rellano was no bueno... it wasnt like any I had seen before, it was chopped up chilis in a MESS of cheese... I pushed it to the side and ate the chicken taco instead which had a lot of flavor. For the lunch price its decent mexican and the service was fast. read more

It was last year thanksgiving day, when I went on a date with my close friend. This restaurant was one of the few that were open on that day and it was a very busy day for them. But to my surprise, the employees were well organized and fast on a busy pace. When we entered the restaurant we met people waiting to be seated. We waited no longer than ten minutes before having somewhere to sit. Before our menus were given to us, the waiter offered us free tortilla chips as an appetizer. While eating that and checking the menus for our choice of food, the waiter asked for our drink of choice. I chose apple juice and my friend chose sweet tea. The menu is full of variety Mexican food and that gave me hard time to figure what I want. The foods on the menu were very appetizing that u will have so many choices to choose. So I finally made a choice, I went with one that has beans, rice, salad on the side and some shrimp. It does have a na name but it's in Spanish I can't even say it neither spell it. We waited for about fifteen minutes for the meal to be prepare. During those waiting period, our tortilla was been refilled without even been finish, even our drinks were been refilled just from sipping from them. Finally the foods came, they were very hot the waiter had to use a pot holder to place them on the table. The smell alone from the food can make u yum for it. Everything on the plate tasted so good there was nothing left for me to take home. The waiter's English wasn't well understood but he was very polite and make sure everything went well and we were well satisfied. I recommend this restaurant to my friends and everyone not only because of their food but even the environment and the dinning area are very clean and peaceful for families and friends to have dinner after a long working or busy day. read more
