Quick, easy, and tasty. This "hole in the wall" has great Mexican style (cilantro & onion) tacos for a little over $2/each. I chose to go with the shredded chicken, but they have plenty of other options. My husband's favorite is the al pastor, but for your more adventurous eater they offer tongue or tripe. They are know for burritos as big as your head, and they really are huge. My husband got one the first time we went, and even though he liked it, we are partial to the Mexican style tacos. They also have two great hot sauces, one red & one green--both were super flavorful. They have a great salsa & a late night drive-thru that local 2nd shift employees hit up! Cheap and authentic style food, what more can you ask for. It's nothing fancy inside, but they take cards and we've never had a bad experience. They are kid friendly, and have high chairs available. There a couple cool, authentic places in town where you can get great tacos and we've now added this one to our list!

This is what my nachos looked like upon delivery.

So, here's the deal: as far as I can tell, the food tastes fine. My biggest problem is how it looked once it got to me. I ordered nachos and a burrito for delivery. See the pictures for what the nachos looked like--unappetizing.

I LOVED the restaurant that occupied that space years ago, Adelino's, but it was a totally different type of cuisine, so I didn't go into it comparing the two. The ambiance was great. I loved the way they'd revamped and utilized the space. Our server was attentive initially, but after we'd put in an order for an appetizer and told her we needed a minute to look things over, it took forever for her to come back to take our orders. We didn't see her much after that either. The food wasn't worth the price in my opinion. The queso dip was good, but I feel like you should get more than you do for $10. My boyfriend loved the cheesy birria tacos, but I was less happy with mine. The meat in my tacos was barely lukewarm when they got to the table, which was weird to me; even when I get shrimp tacos elsewhere (when the shrimp isn't fried), the shrimp is at least warm. The fish taco was better than the shrimp taco, but you can get far superior tacos for cheaper at other restaurants around town. We both ordered a Paloma and found them to be very tequila forward and not as effervescent as they should have been; we were expecting carbonation but couldn't taste any bubbles (and barely any grapefruit) at all. I enjoyed it more than he did though. Overall, we're pretty sure Nom Nom is a one and done for us, which is a shame, because we'd heard great things and went into it with high expectations. But for almost $80, the food and service we received just weren't up to par.

We were traveling from…read moreAppleton, Wi to North Carolina and wanted to find a nice place for a fun meal before stopping for the evening. Normally I list the positives and negatives, but I really didn't have anything negative to say. Ambiance - one word... FUN!!! It's well decorated and just a lively atmosphere. Bright lights but also decor of a Mexican temple. They had fun, vibrant almost Latin Club music playing so it was upbeat and lively. Service - the service was great. I had seen some reviews complaining but we had nothing to complain about. On a Saturday night at 7:30 we were seated immediately. The waiter took drink orders, came back to get food orders, and checked on us throughout our visit. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Food - probably some of the best Mexican food I've had!! The chips. - nice and thick and crisp. Could have used more salt but I know many places allow people to salt to their own taste. Homemade Hot Sauce - great flavor and a good amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. Ribeye Tacos - delicious. The onions and jalapeños were cooked perfectly. Even the rice was some of the best I had. Highly recommend putting some of the house hot sauce on it. Pastor street tacos - another delicious dish. The combination of the pastor and pineapples with cilantro and onion was perfect. Fajita Salad - had a bite of my daughter's food and it too was good. A good combination of vegetables and meat that I would consider for next time. Overall I would love to stop back here another time if I'm passing through Lafayette. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend you do!!

But I wandered into Sixth Street Dive and--don't tell Bloomington--they actually won me over. The burgers are the size of a freshman textbook and taste a whole lot better. Wings? Spicy enough to make me forget I was surrounded by black and gold. And the beer is so cold I almost forgave the guy at the bar for wearing a Purdue hoodie (almost). The vibe is pure dive-bar magic: pool tables, live music, no pretension. Nobody cares if you're a Hoosier, a Boiler, or just a random traveler who took the wrong exit off I-65. By the end of the night, I was laughing, full, and--dare I say it--having a great time in Lafayette. Sixth Street Dive: proof that even behind enemy lines, a Hoosier can still find happiness... as long as the beer's this cold.
