The tamales weren't that great, the pork was bland and the chicken didn't taste much like chicken, not very good at all. The raspado's were gross and super syrupy. One of my friends came here and she was raving about the torta. Atmosphere - The market has a little restaurant in the back with a few tables. Lunch - It is a small chicken with a simple menu. Like I said my friend was raving about the torta so I had to get one. I love Mexican food and I have a little shame with this next statement. I have never had a torta. Well I resolved that issue today. I had the torta de chorizo. I loved that sandwich. I do not know what was better the bread or the chorizo in the sandwich. The bread had a nice crunch to it. It reminded me of sub bread on the east coast. I love to find that bread in a sub shop here. Service - The cook also took your order. She was very polite and could tell that this was our first time here. She handed us a menu to help make the process easier. We tried to pay at the end of ordering. We were informed to pay the market cashier after lunch. We were able get drinks from the market places coolers on own. There is a bottle opener at the kitchen register. We tried the food taco truck and omg hands down the best tacos I have had in Reno. The tacos are worth the 2$ they are literally so juicy and tasty chicken with a tasty crispy red chili tortilla. We also tried their quesadilla which is also delicious just not the tasty tortilla. If you have a chance check them out. They are at eddy quite a bit. They are quite pricey but what isn't in this time and day and given they have to make a living. Their carne asada is to die for! Most delicious burrito I've ever had. You could taste every aspect of the burrito and it just came together so amazingly. The tacos, the asada, also had an amazing flavor. Both salsas the red and green had so much flavor. You know how usually the red salsa will be nasty? Not this one. The horchata was good. Personally not my favorite but it was good! I am never in North Reno but had to come here for an errand and I am so glad I didn't eat before I came up here. The closest place to eat besides McDonalds was this spot. I love Mexican restaurants located in the backs of Mexican markets (they are always good). I got 3 carnitas tacos. Food came out really fast. Three small street tacos and a bowl of orange-colored salsa. I have not had a street-style taco this good since visiting Sayulita five years ago. I went to compliment the chef and she directed me to the "best street tacos, Reno" trophies. Well deserved! I would deduct a star for dirty tables and being overcharged at the register, but the food was so good that I can't bring myself to do that. Try this place!! read more

Little market on the corner, has a variety of Hispanic & American items. I come here frequently when I'm need of something small and don't feel like going to an actual grocery store. As far as the food goes, I do not recommend. My son and I bought a chicken burrito, beef burrito, and a papusa. Both burritos were somehow too salty and had no flavor. I literally watched my son take the contents out of the burrito and just eat the bread. The papusa was dry and also had no type of flavor. Considering the portion size, this place is also very overpriced. I'll continue to come here for a tomato here and there but that's about it. read more

Do Not Order A Bionico From Here! I ordered one and it had unripe, hard plantain banana and very little strawberries, mangos and apples. Plantains should not be used in bionicos! It was smothered in lechera and chocolate syrup and that was it. Why Chocolate?! I've eaten authentic bionicos from LA and they do not compare. It didn't have any granola, raisins, or coconut sprinkles like a normal Bionico for almost $6.00 should have. Very unhappy! Good lord! Finally, A good burrito spot close to my house! My wife had the carneous sada tacos and I had the carneous sata brito fully loaded, the food here is exceptional it's delicious they listen to me I told him I didn't like my food really spicy but I loved Mexican food and what I got was exactly what I wanted! When I walked into this place, I was a bit surprised at how reluctant the three people who were working in the Cantina area were to take my order. First let me say that I have eaten here many times. If I had to put a number on it, I say over a hundred. This is my go to spot when I want a good carne asada burrito. I have been eating at La Barca since the remodel when they first starting selling hot food. I have noticed recently that the overall quality has gone done since I first started coming. The flavors are all still there but I fill that the carne asada to bean and rice ratio is way off. The last time I ate there I felt as though there was hardly any meat at all in the burrito. I'm hoping that someone from the store will read this and make a positive change. On a positive note, my wife and I took a dozen tamales to go the last time we were there and they were delicious. We had both pork and chicken and we wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. The staff at La Barca is always very friendly and accommodating. I will continue to go to La Barca when I'm craving a burrito, I just hope someone addresses the meat to filler ratio. read more
