The iced tea I ordered came in a large cold glass mug enough to make it through the whole meal without even needing a refill. The serene and delightful music added to the overall experience. The manager's attentive service was exceptional, as they checked in to ensure my complete satisfaction, reminiscent of a top-notch car dealership experience. Outstanding "Spicy Fried Rice" at La Basil Thai Cuisine! Made with chilis, basil, red & green bell peppers, onion, garlic and egg. I order fried rice dishes at many Thai establishments and usually leave underwhelmed. This one however was a standout. Boldly colored and richly flavored with noticeable wok hei. Important observation: If you happen to order Pinot Grigio when you go, make sure you're getting real wine. I ordered a glass ($12) and noticed it tasted quite off putting. Unusually sweet for a Pinot Grigio and lacking body. I mentioned this and they brought out the bottle to show me. I had to point out the label which was emblazoned with the phrase "Alcohol Removed"! I wound up switching it out for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc which was excellent. Service here is always friendly, genuine and welcoming. My uncle had the seafood plate which likely should have come with some sort of warning of spice level. I feel they likely should ask spice level in the future. First they have fixed the inside up nice although I could do without the boring music that after awhile gets on your nerves. The single staff member I met was nice and pleasant and willing to help with whatever we needed. First, I ordered The Appetizer Sampler. $18.00 It says Spring Rolls but we're Chicken Fried Egg Rolls. They were not bad but could have used more filling inside. Good Taste. Also Chicken Satay On a Stick. Flavored nicely but a bit overcooked and dry. Next Cream Cheese Won Ton's. Nice and crispy with a nice flavor. Lastly The Pot Stickers. Best item on the sampler plate. The Three Dipping Sauces were great for Dipping. We also got an order of The Tempura Shrimp $14.00 the shrimp were ok but not amazing. Crispy outside and not overcooked on the inside. And An order of The Crispy Calamari. $14.00 My review is strictly for the things we got to sample and maybe the regular dishes they serve deserves more stars. Nothing stood out as special. For me it was disappointing and I'm not sure I'll be back. Food was subpar and overpriced for what was served. There is better Thai Food in Ramona to be enjoyed. I met a friend for lunch today at La Basil Thai Cuisine, where Mama Rosa's used to be up here in Ramona. I got the Panang curry and my friend got the Pad Thai. Both were excellent. Definitely going back. They recommended their pineapple fried rice, and I'm going to try that next time. There was a decent amount of chicken and it was hot. I asked for some spice since I didn't ask for any. The spice dish brought to me was empty of chili sauce unfortunately. My family and I have been to the restaurant several times and the food is always amazing. Third, the price is just right. My favorite plate so far is the Krapao Chicken Bowl. It's stir fried ground chicken with garlic, chili, and basil leaves and a fried egg. The plate is a little spicy, but it's so worth the burn. The spicy noodles, pad thai and garlic pepper chicken are all fantastic too. My wife also loved the thai chicken, which had a great flavor to it. The restaurant is right off of the 67 in Ramona, on 11th Street. There's always plenty of parking and the service is very fast. We're always eating within 15-20 minutes after being seated. This place is so lowkey that it took me a while to give it a chance even though i'm so close to it but I finally went and it was amazing. This is my new go to thai spot. Everything i've had here has been great: pad thai, spicy noodle, pad see ewe, tom kha. Delicious. It can be on the pricier side but the lunch special is unbeatable!! I've been waiting for them to open and was excited for a new Thai place in Ramona! I picked up Phad Thai with chicken to go. Didn't plan on writing a review but halfway through figured I better snap a pic and post one because this was really good phad thai! I got the hottest spicy "Thai spicy" and probably gonna pay for it in the morning but it was really good and every bit as spicy as she warned several times. I'll do it again tho. I look forward to dining in as it looked and sounded and felt so great inside when I picked up.
