    Panang Curry with steamed chicken
    Melodee Marie G.

I really enjoy eating here! The location is nice, as there is not another Thai place located in Carmel mountain. The parking is not that great if it is busy at the neighboring stores/restaurants. This restaurant is opened pretty late, and they are always busy with online orders. I have tried both panang and green curry, and I can't tell which one I like more! The noodles are really flavorful and feeds me for two meals! I have ate here with a party of 8 and can see that they could possibly seat a bigger party, however, it would be best to contact the restaurant for anything bigger. The inside is clean and well taken care of. I come here at least once a month and I do think it is worth the price and is reasonable amongst other Thai places! I will come here again, and am surprised I never got to writing a review with how consistent I eat here!

Solid spot for Thai food in the area! We ordered the fresh spring rolls, pad Thai and green curry. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Staff was friendly and service was quick/efficient. There's decent amount of seating without feeling cramped.

    How amazingly specific and accurate!

Last night, my friend and I went to a marvelous restaurant; it was in the Rancho Bernardo/Poway area. Honestly, I hadn't been there yet, but had looked for something that was open late in the area. I normally live in NYC (the city that never sleeps!), and soon realized that not much in the No. Inland County of SD area is open late. So, since our friendship date was at 8 PM, this is the place that I chose. In other words, other than generally enjoying Thai food, our selection of this place was largely due to scheduling. Sometimes, it's about practicality. Yet, once we were there, we were both pleasantly surprised by the welcoming, relaxed vibe as well as both the quantity and quality of food that they shared. (Also, we didn't have a reservation; but they still promptly seated us, even though it was fairly busy then, which we appreciated.) We ordered countless items from the menu, and they were all tasteful and oh so filling. We went home with more than half a dozen to-go boxes, too! : ) I particularly enjoyed the coconut milk soup with veggies and the dessert, which was the fried banana rolls paired with coconut ice cream. Can you infer that I'm into coconut everything?? LOL Last but not least, big shoutouts go out to Ivan and Roberto, for their loving hospitality and epic service. Roberto was so patient, as we asked him plenty of questions about the menu and garnered his kind recommendations. And - per our request - everything came out with mild, rather than maximum spice levels. Thanks and brilliant! So grateful for this wonderful experience -- even their fortune cookies were spot on. : ) I wish them only good fortune from here on out! Only the Best, Katherine (& dinner companion)

Both the Green Curry and the Drunken Noodles were full of flavor and were delicious. Has been to this restaurant many times in the last few years and the level of quality and service has been consistently very good. Casual ambiance.

Good Thai food, good attentive service and they are open late! Great place to go for a late dinner. My usual here is the Yellow curry with steamed sole fish. We came late on a Friday night and the ambience was a bit busy but was able to be seated right away.

Vegetable Red Curry & Shrimp Pad Thai

We were staying at the Sonesta Hotel and needed a good spot for dinner, so we decided to order from Urban Thai Kitchen next door. It ended up being the perfect choice! We ordered the cheesy wontons, Pad Thai noodles with shrimp, and the vegetable red curry with rice, all with the "a little spicy" level. Everything was ready for pickup in about 15 minutes and was absolutely delicious. The flavors were fresh and balanced, the portions generous, and the spice level was just right. So happy we found this great Thai place to order from.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was incredibly frustrating. I ordered through Uber Eats, and the restaurant gave my driver the wrong order. Thankfully, my Uber driver was kind enough to go back and wait for my correct order, which added another 30 minutes to an order that had already taken over an hour. She went above and beyond to fix a mistake that wasn't hers, so I tipped her an extra $15 because I truly appreciated her effort. Because of the delay, my husband and I never even got to eat the lunch we ordered. We had to go back to work before our food finally arrived, so the entire purpose of ordering lunch was defeated. While we were waiting, I was told the restaurant would provide a credit for the inconvenience. When the order finally arrived, there was no gift card or credit included. I called the restaurant, only to be told that I would have to come in and dine at the restaurant to receive it. That is not what I was originally told, and expecting customers to make another trip after an experience like this is not a reasonable resolution. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What matters is how they're handled. Unfortunately, the lack of follow-through and poor customer service made an already frustrating situation even worse. I hope the restaurant improves both its order accuracy and the way it resolves issues when they occur. On top of that, this is how much chicken was in the dish.

Good menu selection; food was good too; this is one of the few places open late; service was good: inside was clean and nice decor and nice

    Drunken Noodles
    Stephanie T.

This place is set in a shopping center with plenty of parking around it. The music is soft in the background and was nice. I got the drunken noodles which were perfection. Everything about this tastes oh so good. However, my friend got the tangerine chicken which wasn't that great. The chicken was rather chewy and dry. The sauce helped but there wasn't much of it. The waiter was really nice and helpful.

Good food, good service, open late ... It was a very nice vibe. Go check them out! ... It is a good date night or chill with friends

    Papaya salad
    George W.

I came here during a late Saturday afternoon with a group of 5 people. The place was fairly empty but the staff was very attentive and welcoming. We ordered the papaya salad, red curry, lemongrass soup, and pad see ew. The papaya salad was delicious. It had the right balance with the sweet, salty, spicy, sour and umami. The red curry and pad see ew were also great. As for the lemongrass soup, I don't know if my soup bowl had leftover soap from the dish washer in there but there was an aftertaste of soap. I do like lemongrass and am fine with cilantro so I don't think the soapy taste came from either of those. Overall, the 3/4 of the dishes we tried were great and the last one was delicious with the exception of that soapy undertone.

    Drunken Noodles
    Emily L.

Pretty solid thai food! The papaya salad was very refreshing and crispy. The drunken noodles were very flavorful with just a hint of spicy! It was unique to pair it with crispy chicken and I was a little skeptical at first but it was so good! The chicken is crispy on the outside and glazed with a slightly sweet and sour glaze. The servers are very attentive and there's planets of seating to choose from outdoor and indoor!

Crab Fried Rice & Thai Iced Tea
    Michelle F.

Been coming here for a while now and it never disappoints! Staff is fast and friendly. The food is quite flavorful and generous portions. The Crab Fried Rice is my go to dish. Huge chunks of real crab. Delicious! A big bonus is that they are open late. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Nice decor.

What are their spiciness options? The scale isn't listed on their menu or on Uber Eats and I want to know how to ask for a 4/5 or 8/10.

It's on a scale of 10. But be careful they don't mess around. I would order 1 number less than you usually order at other places and ask for some chilli on the side

As of June 23, are they open for dine in yet?

    No not yet

We were lucky and were able to grab the spot right out front. For drinks we each ordered a cocktail. It did take a bit for them to come out but once they did you can tell time and effort were put into making them. They were beautiful and all tasted great. We ordered 4 dishes to share, the wasabi scallop ceviche, crispy baby crab, braised beef panang, and crab fried rice. The ceviche was definitely one of my favorites. Super flavorful, fresh, with the perfect amount of wasabi. The crispy baby crab was savory and easy to eat, especially since you're eating the whole crab, shell and all. The curry in the braised beef panang was so addicting, I couldn't stop eating it. The crab fried rice was tasty and filling. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were fresh and sweet. Overall pretty standard but still yummy. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. All the food came out in the timely manner. The vibe of the restaurant is casual but can be a little dressy for a nice date. Overall I definitely recommend a try here. We got the Taro Fritters, Bangkok street noodles, pork sausage, and the chicken wings. The highlight of the dinner were the chicken wings!! They were so flavorful and crispy, I cannot recommend them enough. The taro fritters were a close second, the tamarind sauce was also a highlight of my dinner experience. Service was quick + amiable, and the inside of Sovereign was clean and inviting. The decor is dark and moody, with live plants throughout the establishment. Parking is metered & limited, but definitely worth the hassle.

Place is quite dim, decor is beautiful with real plants, & some local vendor items for sale by the entrance. The menu is front & back so a lot of delicious choices, but I wasn't feeling too hungry so my friend and I just shared dishes. We ordered the sausage fried rice and the chef special basil stir-fry with crispy pork (also comes with a side of white rice). My friend and I loved the crispiness of the pork! And the way that egg was fried is one of my favorite ways of it being cooked. It made me want to order an extra egg. But other than that the sausage fried rice was also delicious. The sausage was very tender, slightly sweet but not like Chinese sausage style. I definitely loved the way it tastes. We had to ask for some spice on the side because I just knew both dishes will tastes better with some kick. I'll come back again just to try some of their curry dishes. I see why a lot of my friends have recommended this spot and why some of them do come back.

When we ordered, our server took the time to explain their spice scale (1-5), letting us know that a 1 is already about a medium spice level. We settled on mostly 2-3, but wow--the Thum Khao Poon (shredded green papaya salad) still packed some serious heat! Even my spice-loving kids were challenged. The server also gave us a heads-up that it's very fish-forward in flavor, which we appreciated and happened to love. The absolute standout of the meal was the Nam Khao Tod. It was hands down the family favorite--crispy coconut rice with pork sausage, crunchy peanuts, fresh herbs, and so many incredible textures and flavors in every bite. We could have ordered a second plate! We also had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which were slightly oily in the best possible way, making them extra rich and delicious. The Chef's Special Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork was another winner. Our server brought over a chili vinegar that elevated the crispy pork to a whole new level--it was so good drizzled over every bite. Great food, thoughtful service, and plenty of dishes we're already looking forward to trying next time. Can't wait to come back!
