This was the first restaurant I went to by myself ever and the first on my solo trip to Bar Harbor, and I'm so glad it was. Despite my nerves in dining alone, I felt welcome, the service was super nice. The location was beautiful with these massive windows in the dining room looking out to the water. But my favorite part was the food, I ordered lobster ravioli and it was truly so so good. To top off the night I ordered a wild blueberry pie with ice cream to go and enjoyed it outside while watching the sunset. It was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend. read more

I ordered the chicken piccata, and they didn't put any capers on it. There was one rogue blueberry that got my hopes up that there would be capers buried under the pasta or spinach, but it just made it that much more disappointing that it was a blueberry. The chicken was also so overcooked that I could hardly cut it with the fork and butter knife they gave me. The blueberry lemonade was okay. Service was fine, but they never came back after I realized there were no capers, and I was so hungry from a day of exploring Bar Harbor that I ate it anyway. Really disappointing meal. read more

We had dinner one night and breakfast the next morning. Server (female) at night was very good. Server (female) at breakfast talked so low that we could barely hear her. She had to be asked twice to bring syrup for waffles. She brought drinks that we didn't order. Granola with yogurt and berries was very good plus wheat toast. Waffles were good when finally received syrup. Had garlic knots for dinner--yummy! Pizza was okay--loved the thin crust. However, it was too cheesy for our taste. Our last night in Bar Harbor and decided to walk downstairs to one of the hotel restaurants and I'm glad I did. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and told me about this mushroom, truffle and arugula pizza, which was great. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but the pizza is great. I didn't dine in, but the interior of the restaurant looked great and had great views of the water. If staying at the resort, this is definitely worth a visit. read more

Good food, in taste and presentation. We came in early evening, place was quiet. It started picking up at 8 PM on the last weekend before the place closed down before the cold front started. Food was good. I got the calamari and bruschetta. The warm blueberry pie with cold gelato was just the right combination, as well as in size and light in taste not too sweet. We went there twice for dinner while in bar harbor. Their tagliatelle pasta was really good. Everyone in our party of 4 loved it. I got Atlantic salmon and it was good too but I have had better. Their blueberry pie was really delicious and we enjoyed our meal. Second time we ordered bruschetta and pizza. We wanted half pizza without any meat as my husband is vegetarian. But when it came there were chunks of sausage in whole pizza, we even tried removing some ourselves but it was a lot. We complained but our server told us that this is the best they could do, I didn't like this response as we did ask before ordering if this was possible, if someone doesn't eat meat you can't give them food with lesser meat on it. They gave us another pizza without meat, but the way they handled the issue and no apology was offered did sour our experience. read more

Terrible service! We were told by the "host" to wait at the bar and he would come get us in 10 minutes when a table was ready. He had our name. We watched him seat 3 other parties that came after us. When we questioned him he claimed that he had called our name and looked for us. He had done neither. It took forever to get a drink at the bar. Our food was fine, but when we asked for our bill, our server stopped to chat with other customers for like 15 minutes before bringing the bill. Poorly trained staff. I had hopes eating here, cos the idea is good: you create your pasta with offered ingredients. If I can as the owner's f this restaurant I would honor my client presenting the best of the ingredients they chose. Here, I felt just the opposite (aff). The restaurant has absolutely everything to be amazing: setting (glass balcony, overlooking a bay, great bar area in a 80s atmosphere), personnel (hostess, waiters, runners, barman), structure (giant kitchen) but nothing is good. Service was appalling (the waitress apologized, after I asked for her at the reception, 35 minutes after putting our order, for not bringing the drinks! Hello!!!! Food was horrible (soggy pasta, fake pesto , canned wild mushrooms, gray broccoli... cry with me lol) . The meal was saved because my daughter, could not eat her dish: she asked for blueberry pie, with ice cream. It came beautiful and surprisingly delicious, with a lemon sauce ... Unfortunately, and although we stay few more nights in he hotel, I wont step my feet in this place until they promise they will make a good restaurant there. read more

Absolute WORST table service I've ever had. I'm not exaggerating when I say this - I travel all over the United States for work, eat out often, and have never had an experience like this. We tried to order an appetizer and asked for a few minutes before placing our main course. The waiter tried to rush our order and told us what we could order that wouldn't take too much time. He did not give us a few minutes, got in my personal space, and uncomfortably had us ordering. Upon my boyfriend ordering a burger, the waiter responded with "eh I guess that's fine". When I ordered, he seemed unpleased, again, with the time it would take. When the burger came out, it was basically all pink (see picture). My meal was alright, but after the experience so far, I had lost my appetite at that point. When we mentioned it to the waiter, he provided an excuse as to why it was cooked that way. We asked to speak with the manager 3 times. The waiter came back and said he spoke with her on our behalf and took the burger off the bill. We still wanted to speak with the manager. She did NOT come over to our table. We had to get up and walk over to her. That experience was also terrible. Nothing was truly solved after explaining our experience. We still paid for our appetizer and drinks. (The only edible items). I DO NOT recommend. Get an Uber to a restaurant downtown for less than $10, trust me, it is worth it. read more

This is for La Bella at the Regency Hotel not the one downtown at Harborside/Bar Harbor Club. We stayed at the Regency so our breakfast was included with our stay. We just paid tax and tip. We had dinner here the first night after looking at the reviews and photos. I'm not sure if they were on limited menu since recently reopening or if some of the reviews/photos were of the main location. I did not want pizza so felt like options were limited and I really wanted to have the sizzling crab & lobster dip & saltimbocca, and my pasta was ok. But, definitely convenient at the hotel. I liked that they had outdoor seating so we could bring our dogs. They have an awesome and extensive fun drink menu too. For breakfast, our fave options were Eggs Benedict, Brealfast Sliders and Mini trio of waffles (definitely a smaller meal though). Skillet was not that good (mostly eggs with tiny tiny pieces of meat). Would be nice if they had iced coffees, mimosas or bloody marys. They may run the Tiki Bar by the pool too. Honestly, had very low expectations going into my dining experience. I was staying at the Holiday Inn/Bar Harbor Regency for the weekend and the rest of my party opted for convenience. A nice warm bowl of pasta (build your own) after a long, cold, rainy day was exactly what I needed. We also had Caesar salad and garlic knots to start and they were delicious. They had an extensive cocktail list and everyone in my party was pleased with their drinks. The bill was a little steep, but I was anticipating that going into the experience. I visit Bar Harbor regularly and I will not go out of my way to come back, but if you are looking for a good meal and it's convenient, I would recommend it. The decor of this restaurant is good and the location is good as you can have a view of the ocean. The servers were nice and service was good. The food is really amazing and delicious. I got the lobster bisque and my fiance got the burger. For a bisque it is one of the best I have ever had. It is so savory for something very simple. The burger my fiance got was so juicy and tender. The fries were crisp and savory. We also got the pineapple mint Martini and that was really refreshing. I highly recommend you try this drink if you are looking for something unique and refreshing. My husband and I came here for dinner on 7/3/23 the server was great! Frankly they were extremely busy due to the holiday weekend and our food took a while to come out. Other than that everything was amazing. The best chicken piccata I have ever eaten. there was a couple sitting right across from us who was SO RUDE TO THE WAITER. He said that his burger was raw! We ate breakfast here 3 mornings and dinner 1 night (staying on site). Breakfast was great, I had eggs Benedict, veggie scramble and all American scramble. Good meals and decent prices. Kids had pancakes, eggs, cereal. Happy each morning. Decent coffee too. Service was spectacular 2 of the mornings, not so much on the last morning. For dinner we had a spinach dip with toasted triangle bread to start which even my picky kids liked. Kids sliders were good, I had a make your own pasta dish which was great too. I liked that you could get a full or half size. Blueberry pie with gelato for dessert, and the bar drinks were great as well. Drinks slightly overpriced but the food was fairly priced. We waited over an hour, for nothing but empty promises, blamestorming the kitchen, delays and excuses. It took me literally yelling at the manager that he could bring me the bill or our food in five minutes or we were walking to finally get any action out of anybody. Had a wonderful breakfast there! We both got the eggs Benedict and we loved it!! The ham was a nice thick slab of smoky awesomeness. The eggs were poached to perfection. The hollandaise sauce was good. They were served with a side of diced fried potatoes which were seasoned great. The price was very, very reasonable, and the view from our table was fabulous. - The Sizzling Crab & Lobster Bruschetta was pretty good and we wolfed it down rather quickly. - The chicken Saltimbocca was very good as well. It came as a boneless cutlet with Prosciutto, mushrooms and sautéed in Olive Oil and wine. Also came with potatoes on the side. - The meatball and three cheese sandwich was not bad either. And it was a rather generous portion. - The classic Margherita pizza was pretty good as well. - The cabernet that my waiter recommended was first rate. The dining experience was (initially) marred by an unpleasant host. Perhaps, this person was having a bad day, but the lack of civility and etiquette was disappointing. I was thinking of walking out of the restaurant before being seated, but it was after 9PM, we were tired, and this was one of the only restaurants that was open late... In fairness, I should mention that the service was not all bad. The waiter was not attentive and didn't even know we were his table until we said something ten minutes later which he didn't even apologize for and instead made excuses. Lack of communication among staff. The entire staff seemed snobbish and not very friendly, honestly. We saw multiple people including us wait long times for our meals and just waiting for the bill afterwards. We saw a table where they were waiting for like 20 minutes for dessert. We saw a table of four leave this morning because they were not confident in being serviced at a reasonable time. The dinner food was pretty good. I enjoyed the pizza. Breakfast was mediocre. Portions were small. There's a package that includes free breakfast when staying at the Holiday Inn so I'm not surprised if that's why portions were small. I'd recommend going somewhere else and the breakfast package there is not worth it. read more

One of the worst meals my wife and I have ever had. We were drawn to this place because of it's convenience (it's connected to the Holiday Inn Regency Hotel). Inaccurate wait times: Our host at the front told us it'll be a 20 min wait but it ended up being an hour (wish we had known that beforehand -- would've made different plans) Food: Terrible quality food, barely edible. Their 'brick oven' pizza was undercooked to the point that we had to send it back (we've never done that before, ever). Even after 're-prepping' it, the pizza tasted primarily just of the soft dough it was made of (dough was still undercooked). We ended up getting it packed and unfortunately throwing it away the following day. The Lobster Rolls were some of the worst we've had -- barely any lobster, lots of poor quality bread. Both items were severely over-priced for the quality of food and service provided. Would not recommend this place. read more

After a long day of driving, we were in no mood to drive someplace for dinner. Pat asked, "Please tell me there's a place in the hotel where we can eat." Happily, there was. Unhappily, it was La Bella Vita. I had a bar pizza (which they call "pizzette"). It was fine. Pat had a haddock sandwich. The fish was cold, the batter was soggy and the cheese was unmelted. Totally inedible. She ended up eating part of my pizza. The only word to describe the service was "slow." We make allowances for the fact that many restaurants are understaffed. The service was still slow. We were joking about the waiter being on his dinner break. When we complained about the food, the manager came over. She claimed that the batter isn't supposed to be crispy. Maybe so, but it shouldn't be THAT soggy. And the cheese should have been melted. She said she'd tell the chef, but there was no offer of a replacement meal and it still appeared on the bill. Two stars because the pizza was okay, but we won't be going back. read more

Lobster rolls are a must, best my family and I have tasted. Bread is very unique and overall isn't overpowered by the taste of mayo like in some places. Also ordered Sicilian pizza which was good as well. View was also great. Recommend to go outside and enjoy the scenery. read more

Being from NY it's hard to go on vacation and relax, that being said the staff is not in a rush to do anything!!!!! The seating wasn't done in order. People were walking up and being seating while others were waiting. The kitchen was extremely backed up and slow. The waitress we had served food to people that got seated after us. I waited 40 minutes for scrambled eggs!!! The breakfast skillet is terrible, one egg, mostly potatoes. The chicken parm and Tuscan chicken panni both horrible. The chicken is a small cutlet fried in a batter. The bar has very limited choices on liquor. Just the basic stuff. I suggest stopping at a liquor store and bringing your own if you're used to quality. Nothing healthy except the side salad. I gave it 3 tries, not going back. read more
