Today's lunch experience really threw me. Usually this is one of my favorite place- a solid 4.5 stars. Today I felt like I was dining somewhere different. The service was very pleasant, and it was nice out so we were able to sit on their patio in a nice half-shade, half-sun situation. We ordered the grilled Caesar salad, something I know is fantastic. On the part I've gotten chicken, but since it was Good Friday, we opted for the grilled shrimp! They do this all in their Wood-fired oven and it was fantastic! We were hungry so we decided to split that and an eggplant parm panini. Unfortunately we were accidentally served a meatball panini. It looked incredible and if it hadn't been Good Friday we would have devoured it without complaint. But again, no meat. So we politely informed the waitress. She was very gracious and quickly addressed the error. This was the beginning of the never-ending-sandwich! After waiting almost 30 minutes for the eggplant panini to be prepared, we were sorely let down by the quality of the panini. The meatball one had been dripping in sauce and smothered in melted cheese. This one just had a lot of fried fried fried .. eggplant? I'm not entirely sure there was even eggplant in it. It was very fried. And very little sauce, practically dry. And a little cheese. I'm not sure if this was to make up for the cost of the meatball one that they had really focused all their ingredients into, or if that had been the last of the cheese? We then ordered a side of sauce (delaying the inevitable eating of the sandwich again) and were finally able to pick away at parts and dip them in the sauce. The sauce was good, the bread of the panini was perfect. Doughy inside, crunchy outside. The Caesar salad was delightful, and the meatball panini looked and tasted (from my accidental bite) incredible. I guess we should have just bitten our tongues, eaten the meatball and chalked this one up as a sin! The eggplant was just not worth all that trouble. Disappointing. And nevertheless, we will be back for dinner. Dinners here have never let us down. read more

Simply put: i had the most delicious meal of my life here. The pizzas are amazing, but the chicken masala is the best anywhere.

I had the fish special. It was grilled halibut with risotto and butternut squash purée. I wish I had taken a picture of it because it was very pretty to look at. That being said, I wasn't impressed with the flavor. There was little or no seasoning on the dish and even salt and pepper didn't help it much. My husband had the chicken French and it was just ok too. The atmosphere is very nice and the distancing was excellent! Our waitress was good too. If I go back I think I'll try the pizza as they looked really good! read more

Mother's Day buffet brunch - very disappointing. First off, we contacted them via the "Contact Us" page from their website. I received a reply, asking how many in the party and later what time (12:30). After a few days we called to confirm, and were told that they don't take online reservations! Ok. Why not say as much in the two emails to me regarding size of party and time? Our waitress seemed very out-of-it. Maybe that had to do with the fact that the cappuccino (espresso?) machine was broken? Anyway, good was ok. The Italian selections were good. The staff appeared to be lost at times...no plates....no serving utensils... Our waitress forgot a soda, and then later a wine refill. And it wasn't busy at all. To top it off, there was an automatic 18% gratuity added to the $40 plus drinks tab. read more

The service a perfect blend of efficiency, friendliness and knowledge of the menu. Even on a Saturday night I did not feel rushed in any way. A friend and I went for a drink and a light salad and soup. Now I like my salt, but the chicken lentil soup was so salty, we couldn't even eat it! At 8:45, I asked for a pizza to go. I was told the pizza guy was gone and no one else was trained to make pizzas. I said, "I'll order something else then". The waitress abruptly says, "The kitchen's closed!" I told her the hours state the restaurant is open till 9:00. The polite thing for her to do is apologize. She just repeated herself saying, the kitchen is closed. I told her to let the kitchen staff know I was not happy about the very salty soup nor was I happy with not being able to place an order to go. This wasn't my first time not enjoying my experience there, but I gave them a second chance.. only because of location convenience. NEVER should have done it! Will NOT go back there! There's way too many other restaurants that are much better! (No staff came to our table to attend our concerns either). This restaurant deserves zero stars! read more

Made reservations for Friday before Valentine's Day. Upon arriving we where seated right away which was nice. The inside is decorated nicely and is on the darker side which made it kind of have a more intimate feeling. They only offered a limited menu due to the holiday which if we had known before hand would have probably chose another restaurant. My wife ordered the surf and turf. The filet was over cooked slightly but still tasted good. The lobster was cooked nicely and was a decent size. I ordered the chicken parm which was served over penne pasta. The portion size was HUGE. But sadly it was also over cooked which made it on the dry side. Both where served with a side salad and bread as well. Our server was nice but probably could have checked in on us more. Overall service seemed a little slow, we where there for about 90 minutes. I'll probably be back to try it again when there full menu is a option to order off of. read more

This is my second review of Bella Vita. There were 7 of us this time. Same great service and good food. I personally had and enjoyed a too large portion of cod French! I cut it in half right away. My wife had a super large cup of clam chowder. She expected it to be NE and but it was their own special dish. They offered to exchange it. We declined the offer and I finished it. Delectable. The atmosphere was that of a busy bistro where everyone was enjoying themselves., Consider renaming the clam chowder to "Bella's special chowder". read more

I asked our server for a piece of bread and was told bread is not provided at lunch but he would check. He returned and said they wasn't any available. I ordered take out and they told me 30 min and got there waited 10 more min . When I got home the food was cold . I live 2 min away . We ordered a margarita pizza , they have no clue what a margarita pizza is !!!!!! There was maybe a few TINY pieces of basil and it and there was no fresh mozzarella cheese on it ! The new location is beautiful and food still great! Negatives are handicapped parking, only one spot in front and handicapped people can't hike up the stairs. Different bartender on Sat night and my cosmo tasted like no liquor was I it and the glass was tiny! Finally, the cannoli sucked, very bland and not sweet at all.. Eating here is like eating at a great restaurant in Manhattan. We've had 4 different dishes and each one is terrific! The Lasagna is not run of the mill fare. It was delicious! Chicken French is fabulous and the Eggplant Parmesan is the best in the city. The specials are all terrific as well. It's very refreshing to find this type of food here in Rochester. Checked out the new location for lunch ... it is decorated beautifully. Would not mind sitting at the spacious bar on my next visit. Knowing that I am gluten free, my father asked if the fried calamari was gluten free. The server said no, but we can make it a different way, more of a Sicilian way with tomatoes and olives. They made an exception as this is not something they normally do at lunch. Everyone loved it. My dad loved the sauce so much, he asked for bread to dip in the sauce. I ordered the chicken wings with no parm cheese for the table and they were so delicious. Perfectly crispy and the balsamic vinegar really made them stand out. My mother and I were talking about the wings the next day trying to figure out when we would be able to get them again. My mother ordered the salad with salmon and was delighted the piece of salmon was so big.. My father and I shared a gluten free pizza with peppers and sausage. I loved the spice the cherry peppers added... I could have used a bit more sausage but I enjoyed the crispness of the pizza... (we did specify well done as I do with all my gluten free pizza.) This place is really spectacular. I cannot wait to go back to try more items and to get what I got agin!! Should mention if you have trouble with stairs have someone drop you off in the front, and you have to walk up a staircase from the back entrance. read more

La Bell Vita is amazing. Rosario is the owner and is from Sicily. The majority of his recipes come from this mother. The pizza is a must. Just get one as an app and split it. I ordered a pizza for lunch. I'm a firm believer in a tip for the wait staff. My pizza, pepperoni and extra cheese. With a tip $19.00. I knew it was a bit on the pricey, and I added extra cheese, the menu didn't give a size, but for the money I thought it would be worth it. (The tip was about $3.00) WOW! That's a bit much. Mind you this is a medium pizza box in my hand, and it doesn't feel very heavy I get back to my office. Opened the box, and boy was a disappointed. The pizza did not even come close to filling the box. I got about a 10" pizza for the price of an average large pepperoni and extra cheese everywhere else in the area. Now the pizza looked good, smelled good, now for the taste. OK its a good pizza, not a OMG! this is amazing pizza, or WOW this is really good pizza. But certainly not a $19.00 pizza good. The crust had good flavor, sauce nice and smooth, not too acidic, not too sweet, the cheese was fair and the pepperoni was cup-n-char. So in a scale of 1 - 10 I'd give it a 6.5. With the medium being the 2 local big chains, the one that starts with "M" and the other that starts with "S" Maybe its my own fault for ordering a pizza from an Italian restaurant, which in itself was a really nice location, beautiful inside, nice looking bar, and staff was pleasant. So in conclusion, probably a good place for an Italian dinner, the place is always packed, but for a pizza for lunch, you have choices all around for less money and just as good, if not better pizza. read more

You can't do 3 1/2 stars so I'll be nice and do 4. Food was very good. Wife got chicken parmigiana and I got veal- our usual litmus test for visiting an Italian place the first time. I especially liked the veal pounded thin and the bread was well seasoned. When the restaurant is set up with space to handle parties of 11, they get parties of 11, especially holiday time. We got seated in the same room with such a party and it was very loud. Only other qualm was the service , perhaps diminished by the large party. My wife and I find for some reason we're often left out of the loop on specials and in fact we didn't get steak offerings mentioned and the nightly pizza special was mentioned to me after I ordered a wine that I couldn't get the special with because it was a "premium pour". All in all good food. They're moving up the street soon so maybe that will change some things. But I doubt it will ever be considered "intimate" if that's what you're looking for read more

Not a big fan. The dining area is small along with a small bar. I went here for dinner a few nights ago and waited quite awhile for water. I had to get up and ask who our waitress was and if we can get some service. The food was fine/ok. (The seafood bisque was good). But the dinner didn't knock me off my feet at all. They did give us a free slice of pumpkin cheesecake of some sort to share to make up for the slow service, nice gesture. That was yummy! read more

I have been here a few times now. What keeps us coming back is the calamari salad. Oh my, if you order anything - order this, it will not disappoint. Its chocked full of the best fried calamari I have ever had, olives, tomatoes and asiago cheese. The also fry jalapeños and put them on top. They serve with a balsamic dressing. Mmm.. now this makes me want to go get one now! We have also had the pizza - Bianco - prosciutto, artichokes and basil - mmmm. Good. We also sampled the chicken parm (ok), and the shrimp la Bella (very good), Rigatoni alla Vodka. Of these three the rigatoni was definitely the way to go. Great flavor! Covid 19 Birthday dinner with family went well. Cocktails were reasonably priced and tasty (Bellini and Moscow Mule). Started with Arrancini (sp) which was very good and only slightly salty. I'll start off by saying that our server was super nice, and very attentive to our large party. Drinks were always filled and she was very accommodating. Service was 5 stars for sure. The appetizers were tasty and the shrimp was delicious, definitely the best app out of all the ones we got for the table. Highly recommend. The meals themselves were hit or miss. A couple people absolutely loved their risotto dishes, but one person had such a rare steak that I'm not sure it even touched the grill for more than a couple seconds, then upon sending it back, came out overcooked. The gnocchi seemed like a great choice since the menu stated they were "hand rolled," which I took to mean made in house. I often order gnocchi if they are handmade and these did not taste homemade. They were super hard, and had an aftertaste that made me wonder if they were homemade or prepackaged. Both people who got salads said they were delicious, so that was a plus. Overall, the service and ambiance were great, meals were good depending on what you ordered, so I would say just middle of the road for me. read more

The husband and I came here before a friend's surprise Birthday. It was recommended by a friend and also near the party location (we live on the west side of Rochester). We were greeted immediately and seated right away. Which was nice since it was a Saturday at 6:00 and we did not have reservations. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, and attentive. I ordered the shrimp bisque and while good, I personally thought it was a little heavy on the Sherry. My husband ordered the grilled ceaser salad and loved it.
