I made reservations for 4:15. The restaurant opens at 4. I got there right around 4:10 tonight and it was packed. I chose to wait for my friend in the lobby. Right before my friend got there an older lady, a manager or maybe the owner told me I could only have my table for an hour. What? She showed me her reservation list. So?? It's not my fault that the restaurant was overbooked. I thought this was incredibly rude. My friend and I discussed going to another place and we were told that they would just make the other reservation wait until 6. My friend and I both worked in the food service industry for DECADES. I have never been told or told anyone they only had an hour to eat. We said we didn't want to feel rushed. I'm from out of town we were catching up. We were not planning on camping but an hour was simply not enough time. We are not rude so we ordered as fast as we could. We didn't ask for more time. We got garlic bread as an appetizer. They brought over some complimentary zucchini marinara or something. We both ordered chicken French and our food didn't arrive to our table until nearly 5pm. At some point the lady came to tell us that we didn't have to rush some other ladies were willing to get up. Thank you for letting us know, but it was incredibly tacky to tell us multiple times how long we could stay and what their plans were. And yet they still kept looking at our table making it very uncomfortable. We really only sat there for 15 minutes after our bill was paid. We were gone by 6. The original time we were told we could stay until. The garlic bread was okay. It was just their dinner rolls sliced in half and grilled/toasted. The Italian wedding soup was mostly vegetables (huge vegetable chunks). A few meatballs, some stringy chicken and a very few noodles. The broth was good. The chicken French was excellent for the most part. The spaghetti noodles were short. Almost as if they broken and impossible to twirl on fork to get a bite. It was messy, slurping noodles was so embarrassing. I ended up having to leave most of my noodles on the plate because I had to give up. It was a nearly $29.00 dish. I had specifically asked our server to put the garlic bread on my check since we were paying separately. She ended up splitting it between our checks. I wasn't happy with that. I wanted to pay for it myself. We tipped very generously each over 30% for apparently the huge inconvenience we caused. Giving this place a 4 is also generous. I'm not sure I would come back here again. For it being both of our first times coming here-the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The ambiance is nice, the lighting is good but the whole debacle with being told how long we could stay and then "not realizing we had a reservation she thought we were walk ins. " The food presentation (huge obvious towel swipe on my dish-hope that was a clean towel and there wasn't any cross contamination), the soup may as well been called Italian vegetable soup and the short noodles making it impossible to enjoy a pricey dish... the dessert menu is also lacking. Celebrating its 50th year, we now know why! This restaurant is located in a small, unassuming plaza nearby but it definitely has earned its reputation. We walked in and placed an order while doing laundry and some shopping in the plaza. We were given a time of 4:45pm for pick up and service was impeccable. Everything was right there and waiting for us at the door. The hostess and servers were friendly and helpful, while at their peak time answering phones. Let me tell you this was some of the most delicious Italian food I've had in some time! We look forward to returning soon. read more

Visiting family in Rochester, our evening at Proietti's began with promise as our table was delivered a lovely amuse-bouche of braised zucchini in a sweet, light tomato puree. The atmosphere was pleasant, and our waitress could not have been more accommodating. The experience was, however, diminished by the delivery of a laughably tragic rendition of Veal Marsala. Here were two slabs of non tenderized, gristly meat floating....yes, floating....in a half inch of beef broth with a few overcooked mushrooms. Three bites in and I could not stomach another. The Proietti conception of the term "sauce" is misguided. Two of us ordered the Fettuccini With Lemon Sauce., this consisting of noodles swimming in a "sauce" of lemony chicken broth, far too thin to be included in the sauce category. My sister had the Friday fish fry, a generous portion of thickly cut fresh haddock. I am bestowing three stars only because they were gracious enough to comp the Marsala, and giving them the benefit of the doubt that we just got unlucky with some of our meal choices, or perhaps their regular kitchen staff were off for the labor day holiday. If this is Rochester's idea of a four star Italian restaurant, I would be fearful of any place of lesser rank. read more

The very little that was leftover was all consumed the very next day which was another first. I worked with Tracy to coordinate everything and she was wonderful. In my opinion this WAS one of the greatest Italian restaurants all the way up until Covid. Here we are now well past Covid and the food is still sketchy at best. I went there last night with some friends and ordered the Chicken French. I asked for extra lemon because the waitress stated that it's ok but lacks enough lemon for her taste; therefore, not her favorite dish. That should've been my warning. I figured so long as I ordered extra lemon I would probably be ok, right??? I was then asked if I wanted it over pasta, which I wanted less carbs, therefore asked for the steamed Broccoli so long as it's not over cooked. What I received was two tiny thin pieces of barely coated chicken and a plate full of waterlogged mushy broccoli bath. Not even a hint of flavor and definitely no taste to it, or the chicken. There was so much water in my plate that my chicken was waterlogged as well and ruined. I had to ask the waitress to please bring it back, or at very least drain the water off the plate and questioned why there was still no lemon flavor or coating to my chicken. Instead of preparing me a new dish, She quickly returned with the same two tiny/thin pieces of plain barely coated chicken on a dry plate, and a side of mushy, waterlogged broccoli, not steamed or crispy as they should be. The price of this meal was $27. The best part of the meal was the salad, which was a basic tossed salad, ONE cherry tomato, house Italian dressing, and some crumbly blue (extra charge), as well as my waitress. Not her fault the kitchen crew was asleep, I gave her a great tip regardless that my meal was horrible, and barely edible. Btw, nothing was comped. Come on guys... You can do better than less this. Interestingly, enough, one of the other ladies at my table, ordered the appetizer called Chicken French chunks or something like that. It was only $15, a huge portion of THICK chunks of chicken (the same size as boneless wings) prepared in a CREAMY lemon sherry reduction sauce and was well coated with flour, and sautéed the way Chicken French should be. It was enough to share with the whole table and still be enough for her to eat as her primary meal that she ordered along with a side salad. Did I mention, way cheaper?!? Now, in my opinion, it still lacked adequate lemon taste but was nothing that a couple squeezes of a fresh lemon on the side didn't help improve. Everyone else at my table was just as unimpressed with their meals.... No wow factor to say the least. Never again..... I honestly use to be a big fan like I said in the beginning. But now I've had 3 meals there since COVID and all were pretty awful. Unfortunately, this will probably be my last visit at Proietti's, even the bread wasn't fresh. That's a Cardinal Sin for Italian places. Take it from me, I'm Italian! read more

DELICIOUS Italian meal!!! We loved everything we ordered!!!! I ordered the chicken French over linguine, which was huge! It also came with soup or salad. I decided on the Italian wedding soup and rolls. The French sauce had a perfect buttery/wine/lemon flavor. My fiancé ordered the broiled haddock with the side of spaghetti with red sauce. It also came with soup or salad and rolls. The fish was done perfectly. As an appetizer, we went with the fried calamari, which was crispy, tasty, and it came with a giant side of their marinara sauce. We ordered this meal as take-out and everything was very hot and fresh when we brought it home. I was impressed. I will definitely be returning soon. My family and I have had two awful experiences dining with Proietti's. Last week, the three of us had no reservations and wondered if we could get in without waiting. There was no waiting line. The owner/manager of the restaurant was very rude while the hostess got a table ready. After being seated, our server was very snooty and unwelcoming while being extremely nice to her other tables, who were obviously regulars during our entire meal. In my opinion, my family and I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant as we have in Proietti's. This experience was exactly like our first awful experience about three years ago, when we arrived WITH a reservation made weeks prior, and they didn't have a record of it. While trying to sort out the mishap, the woman who owns the restaurant made a snarky remark instead of apologizing for the inconvenience/miscommunication. Her remark was,"Well, there's always Bill Gray's across the street." The perfect Italian restaurant. We stopped here based on great yelp reviews and were not disappointed. We were welcomed very warmly by our hostess and had a wonderful experience with our wait staff Ella. Ella started by bringing us a basket of the freshest most delicious rolls and also a small dish of perfectly seasoned zucchini in marinara sauce. That certainly whet our appetite. Beer and wine are available, including glass or carafes of house wines. I started with a Caesar salad which was generous and tasty. For an entrée I had linguini with white clam sauce which was perfect. Ella asked if I would like broccoli in the dish, which I graciously accepted. I was really looking forward to trying Proietti's Wedding Soup that was shown on the news a few weeks ago; so I stopped on my way home from work and bought what I thought was what they said on the news was the best "Wedding Soup" in town... but it's not Wedding Soup- no meatballs or Italian seasonings, plain Chicken Pastina with no flavor at all... had to add to everything when I got home. All that being said, the front end staff were friendly, nice and fast with my to-go order of a quart and an additional 8 oz. portion of soup for my family. Plenty of parking and easy access for people. I just have to add if I wanted an aweChicken Pastina-I would have gone to Magnolia's on Park. This was my second time eating at Proiettis and I have no idea what took me so long to give them credit for their delicious food! Make a reservation if you're planning on going during the weekend because we only managed to snag an early (5:30pm) reservation on our second attempt. The decor is your old fashioned ornate style, white table cloth, dim-ish lighting, seems like a place you'd go for a family meal. Our waitress seemed a little over her job, didn't really acknowledge what we were saying. Our water re-filler spilled water all over my boyfriend's side of the table and just left it like that, no return with a towel to dry it up...weird. It's fine though because the food was super yummies! The complementary bread is so good! They're puffy round rolls served warm with room temperature butter. It's also unlimited, though they're very filling. They also serve complementary zucchini in marinara sauce. These are also very good. They're soft and so flavorful! For apps we got the clams casino. These come really hot so becareful. I loved how flavorful and full of topping these are. The plate came with 6 of them. They're not too salty and you can still taste the seafood flavor. The texture has a nice gritty-ness and softness. Yum! Our entrees came with a side of soup or salad. We both picked I think it's italian wedding soup. Loved the clarity of the broth and it was perfectly lightly seasoned. For entrees I got the homemade fettuccine with marinara sauce and a side of 2 meatballs. My boyfriend got the pasta and steak chunks that I've forgotten what it was called. I looooved my pasta dish. There was not only quantity but quality in my pasta dish. The pasta was cooked really well, has a nice chewiness to it. The sauce is so flavorful and a nice savory yet brightness that I love in marinara sauce. The meatballs were really soft. It's light and airy, not the usual gritty heavily textured meatball I am used to. And they're huge! My boyfriend's steak pasta was also very on point. The steak was cooked perfectly so it was soft and so very well seasoned. The sauce was a savory sauce that coats the pasta very well. I think this is a quality restaurant at a reasonable price. The salad itself was big enough for someone's meal, and the chicken parm I couldn't even finish because it was humongous. If you're hungry, this is the right spot. What a great little local Italian joint. I was a little skeptical but our local coworkers really raved about it...and...they were right! Everything was truly exceptional. From the simple rolls to the the calamari and stuffed mushroom appetizers to the Caesar to their Marinara - all amazing. I was able to cut their homemade Italian sausage with the back of my fork - with compete ease. And, more importantly it as simply delicious. I would highly recommend this place without hesitation. I went there for a friend's engagement luncheon. This place has a cozy atmosphere which was great for hosting a small luncheon. They had two pasta options with meat and salad (it was the request of the hosts so that is out of their control). After a long day of estate sales we were very hungry. Looked for a nearby local restaurant and found Proiettis ... we will be back! It's in a strip mall but don't let that dissuade you - inside it's a faux Italian village, tables with white tablecloths and paper over the top. Service was outstanding. Aimeé has the lasagna - a good test for any Italian place. It was worth every calorie! The red sauce is outstanding, smooth but deep, a darker red than usual, almost smoky it was so deep. Pesto was also top notch - and the waitress brought us a small bowl of each to try with the great bread. As a starter they bring out zucchini in red sauce, gratis. Excellent, reminded me of childhood. I started with the French onion soup; not standard for Italian, but the menu promised deliciousness. It delivered in spades. Aimée has the house salad with the house Italian dressing based on red wine vinegar - also great. I had a special - chicken and sun dried tomatoes in double mushroom sauce. This was a gamble for me, and while I didn't lose, I didn't win either. It wasn't bad, but compared to the other dishes it was bland. All in all we will be back regularly! My boyfriend and I were starving and we called at 6:45 PM to see how long the wait was for a Saturday night and they said they had a table available and would hold it for us if we came right away. What a great first impression! My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken & eggplant Parmesan and both were good. I requested my eggplant to be extra crispy which was no problem and it was worth the few extra minute wait. If I had to pick, the chicken was the better of the two though; the crunchy breading was super delicious. A tasty surprise was also the zucchini and sweet marinara appetizer - I wish I could have eaten an entire platter of it! Great for dipping your bread in, too. We will definitely be back! read more

Sunday has evolved to take away exclusively, with on premises dining available Wednesday through Saturday. We ordered by phone and picked up 40 minutes later. Every item was prepared to our liking and promptly presented to us by three wonderful women working up front. The food was delicious without exception. Great salads and entrees. Our foursome shared beans and greens, haddock, lasagna and stuffed shells. Caesar and house salads had firm lettuce and were attractively presented. Everything was properly wrapped in non-styrofoam packaging. The staff was cheerful, friendly, and expressed genuine appreciation for our continued support. If you're looking for traditional table service, Proiettis offers a nice dining environment and friendly waitstaff. My dish of choice when eating Italian is gnocchi so I'm happy they offer it. They also offer take out and catering. The pizza is a nice change from traditional greasy pizzeria style offerings.
