Was super excited to come here. I love a tapas bar. I quickly learned that maybe it wasn't the right move. Staff was friendly upon arrival. We sat on the covered patio. Ordered a drink- wow. I think all I had was straight tequila. I didn't wanna be THAT girl and return it- so I kept it. I ordered two tapas : calamari and yuca bites. I love calamari, but they came out over cooked and looked more like onion rings. The yuca bites were decent. Mom and grandma got churrasco. That was pretty good. No price on the menu- which was weird. ** apparently you have to tell staff before you order if you're going to have separate checks. They will NOT split it for you. && then they hover to get the signed copy and top** Also all three of us had upset stomachs for the rest of the night and in the morning. This is one of my personal favorites to go eat locally. I usually get the arroz campesino. Which is very good is served in a plate where 2 people can eat. The ambiance is like a tavern, a very crowded tavern and sometimes they have shows there like people singing and dancing. read more

my go to here is el sopon marinero. $17 this is a huge serving of a steaming hot delicious seafood stew. both times I have not been able to finish it. It's such a large portion! the spanish milanesa and the palomilla steak are both very tasty as well. The vaca frita burger and stuffed tostones in my opinion are bland. BAD FOOD. Came to this place for the first time and was honestly disappointed. The prices of their lunch specials are great but the quality of the food definitely not. I ordered a Skirt steak that tasted like it was first boiled in water and then grilled in a pan for about a minute to give it the "grilled" appearance. The rice and beans were definitely microwaved and to the point that the corners were burned. I was served the food in chipped plates which was visually not appealing. The food took forever to arrive even though the restaurant was relatively empty. The service was average. Do not recommend this place. read more

We just ordered "patatas bravas" which they were exactly 3 slides of potatoes super cold and soggy. Crema de langosta, which is was salty and dis not taste like a crema de langosta. The baby churrasco, cold and I asked to be well done, it looked like they just did whatever and it was full of blood. The service horrible, i spent more than 10 minutes waiting for someone to let me talk because they would ignore me. The hostess did not even bother to ask me if i needed something I had to ask her 3 times if she could informed me if my order was ready. Thursdays is Ladies Night; from 3pm-close ladies drink free. I ordered the Cubano Americano "Vaca Frita Burger". Shredded flank steak sauteed w/onions, topped w/ chopped maduros, alioli sauce and melted muenster cheese on a potato bun. The waitress was very helpful and informed us that on most weeknights they have live music which sets the tone for an authentic Havana evening. I definitely plan to return and expand on their wonderful menu and enjoy the live entertainment. My total was less than $30 including tip and both the food and service were top notch. read more

Beef, maduros, cheese and their aioli sauce. I thought it would cure my hunger and be exactly what I needed! But sadly I opened my food to see just the beef and onions. Talk about a hidden gem. There located in a tiny shopping center lies this quaint little Cuban/Spanish fusion restaurant that delivers what it promises. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers and let me tell you it was filling and down right tasty. The house wine was good (we had brought our own wine but found the cork fee to be on the pricey side) and the house bread I could have eaten the entire night. The service was fast and friendly considering it was a Saturday night and they were quite busy. If I had to complain about anything it's too many tables outside way too close together but honestly I'm just nitpicking. A must if your in the area! read more

Croquetas are better than Islas. Yea I said it. Islas has a special place in my heart but these croquetas from Bodeguita are just top tier. Holy shit balls it just melts in your mouth. Furthermore the service is great, the vibe is solid, and food is awesome. Not to mention the music (live guitarist) they had was on point. Will be going back. I came here for lunch with a friend. It was both of our first times here. They have parking both in the front of the restaurant as well as the back, so at least for lunch, finding parking was no trouble. The service was pretty fast and the waitress was pleasant. She was knowledgeable on the menu and answered all the questions we had. They bring a bread basket with some butter which I found quite delicious. I really could've just destroyed that bread basket single handedly. For an appetizer, my friend ordered patatas bravas, which is like diced fried potatoes with a spicy sauce drizzle. It was tasty, but some potatoes were completely drenched in sauce and it made them slightly soggy, so maybe having the sauce on the side would benefit others that aren't too into sauce. For an entree, I had the chicken Alfredo (yes, I know I got an Italian dish in a Cuban restaurant but someone has to do it!) and my friend got the ropa vieja. The pasta was tasty but the proportion of chicken to pasta was rather small, and it needed some salt. The ropa vieja with rice was very large. While it was a plentiful serving, it also needed some salt and some flavor. It was tasty overall, but needed something more. The prices here were not bad, so I'd come back here and maybe explore the tapas side of the menu more. read more

I wanted to try La Bodeguita for some time now; I finally went but unfortunately it fell short of my expectations. The place has the right ambiance for a "Taverna" style restaurant but I was expecting more authentic Spanish cuisine and it was more of a hodgepodge of Spanish, Cuban with a little Brazilian and Italian too. The service was a bit slow although the staff was friendly and apologetic for the long wait. I'm not sure if they consider themselves a Spanish restaurant, if so I think they should concentrate on the traditional dishes. read more

Hialeah is (in)famous for creative uses of the zoning codes and cray traffic. So what if I told you that in a little strip shopping center on Red Road / West 4th Avenue/ NW 57 Avenue, there's a great Spanish tapas place in what used to be a Spanish Bodega? I heard about La Bodeguita from a couple of fellow Yelpers as well as a music invite I received. Though I missed the event, I stopped for dinner Friday night. Once I found a spot in the back parking lot, I stepped into what could have been Madrid cafe with dim lights and a good looking singer doing covers of various ballads. (Yes, I'm taking away one star because she sang that godawful song by Adele :) The singer also covered tracks be Celia, Celine and Olga Tanon. They have a bunch of tables in front of the stage, and looks like a great place for a dinner date. For those of us dining solo after work, they do have a bar with a large screen TV (did you catch that Miami Heat comeback win?) Although the menu is seafood heavy, my waitress did take into account my allergies and prepared what turned out to be my favorite dish of tostones rellenos (green plantains stuffed with chorizo; the original menu has them with shrimp). I also enjoyed a hearty piece of Spanish Omelette, a couple of croqueta as well as a croqueta slider. Although they're tapas, the portions are hearty enough that I had to take some to go. I even passed on dessert. Maybe next time that will make up for "Hello from the Other Side hmm? read more

Thanks Sergio F. for organizing the UYE. It turned out to be a small group, but that's great we get to talk to everybody in the group, not just the handful sitting nearby. Despite being located on an unassuming corner of a street, the restaurant is actually pretty nice inside. It was Friday night, so there were two singers performing that night. $5 is added to your bill for the entertainment, but it's totally worth it, as the performers have amazing beautiful and strong voices. The menu is quite extensive, from traditional tapas to more international ones like truffle fries and chicken alfredo. The croquettes are must have: fluffy and creamy inside with a light crunchy shell, and even better when dipped in the cilantro aioli. Sergio ordered a rellano with chorizo on top that looks like a little taco, which I like better than the one with fried cheese and guava paste I ordered. The plate of truffle fries is probably among the largest I've eaten, definitely for sharing with many people. As for the charcuterie platter: the meat is good but why the heck do they use swiss cheese besides manchego? There are quite a few good Spanish cheese that is a better choice than that swiss. Chorizo is favorful, and so is the chickpea which has lots of chorizo chunks in it. They have 5 sangria on the menu. I've love to come back and try them all. read more

The sever delivering the "cafe bombas" slipped 2 full flute size bombas on me, my dress and by back. This pictures is take in the men's bathroom because the woman's was occupied. My friend accompanied me in the bathroom where I had to remove my whole dress and place cold compress from the roll of paper in the bathroom. At no point did anyone from staff knock on the bathroom door to offer bag of ice. Estas fotos fueron tomadas toman en el baño de Los hombres porque el de las mujeres estaba ocupado. From the moment we walked in, stood around in entrance there was no one to greet us or acknowledge us. We stood for about 15 minutes, had to ask a server if we waited or if we seated ourselves. Once sat, server brought us an appetizer we ordered and just kinda laid it down. No "enjoy the food" or anything. Staff kept glancing and staring at myself and partner throughout the whole experience, it was so often that we caught them multiple times and we were beginning to feel uncomfortable. Once done with appetizer, server came and retrieved it and did not ask if it was good, if we enjoyed it, just said "what else will you have". From that point on, we had to ask for check and leave. The customer service is not it. The attention to detail is not it. The staff working there is very nosy and not welcoming. read more
