Very disappointed. First off, started with $5 for a basket of chips and Salsa. Well it's not salsa by any means. Three of us at the table and we get one ketchup size cup of a red sauce for everyone to share. No salsa, just a red sauce... Can't even dip a chip into it bc of the container size. This set the mood as we went on. I had the Mexican city quesadilla. Looked like two small soft tacos. I don't know if it was sitting for awhile, but the contents created a puddle on my plate preventing me to pick up my food in one piece. Now I'm not a big guy at 172lbs, but I would expect to leave the meal feeling satisfied. No sides, no rice, no beans, nothing but these two soggy taco like things on my plate. I entertained purchasing a second meal to fill me up but then decided to cut my losses. I apparently was not going to leave this restaurant satisfied. My daughter had the steak tacks and wife had chicken soup which they enjoyed. Bill came and we were charged an extra $2 for cheese on my daughter's taco. We didn't order extra cheese but if asked, I would assume the cheese on a taco wouldn't be an added cost. Yea, I was disappointed and do not see myself returning. Mole was a fun experience. There is outside and inside seating. Both of which have a cozy and fun vibe. I enjoyed all of the art and the bar glasses all have cute little advertisements for local businesses. Service was a little slow. But the food made up for that. Everything came out perfectly. I enjoyed their margaritas during happy hour and they were great! I also had a taco salad that was very fresh and the tortilla shell was crisp. The veggies in my salad were so beautiful and fresh. We had a very good lunch here. We got to the restaurant just as they were opening and there was already one gentleman dining. They got a bit busier as time went on. This restaurant is located outside the mall in the area with many other restaurants. There's plenty of parking, but it gets packed during meal times. Margaritas were on happy hour all day so my husband got one of their classic ones for only $6. They had a lunch menu; a daily specials menu; and their regular menu from which to choose. For his lunch, he chose a burrito with ground beef and refried beans. The portion was huge, but he said it was so good that he finished it all. I got one of their daily specials -- quesabirria. Lots of cheese and tender meat in two tacos served with hot sauce and a delicious dipping broth made from the drippings. Everything was made fresh to order. And we could tell. For dessert, we shared their (caramel) flan. There were a few blueberries and a mass of whipped cream on top of an excellent version of flan. We were so full from our main entrees, but we couldn't resist every last bite of flan. This is not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Lots of good restaurants in this plaza. Today we chose Mole Cantina, and what a good choice it was! Easy access parking in the large lot. Large welcoming interior with a full bar as you walk in and immediate recognition and seating. We were given menus including a lunch special menu. Drink orders taken, for me a Classic Margarita ($6) Happy Hour all day today! I chose a ground beef Burrito from the regular menu. It was served hot on a large plate with salsa and sour cream. With a side of spicy sauce mixed in, it was delicious and filling. For dessert we shared a Spectacular Creamy Flan with whipped cream and blueberries. Fantastic! read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our visit to MOLE Cantina was truly disappointing from start to finish. First, when we walked in, it was extremely hot inside--no working AC on a warm day made it uncomfortable right away. My daughter and I sat at our table for about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, and this was with maybe five other people in the entire restaurant. I asked about a kids menu, and while they didn't have one, the server said they could make kids items. I ordered grilled chicken and fries for my daughter, and I asked for their most popular item--the server recommended the tacos. I went with a chicken taco and a steak taco, which came with rice and beans. The only thing that was even decent were the fries. The grilled chicken for my daughter was so dry it was barely edible. The tacos? Flavorless. Even loaded with onions and cilantro, they just tasted bland. The steak taco was especially bad--super chewy and tough. I didn't even finish it. The chicken taco wasn't any better. And here's the kicker--no chips and salsa unless you pay extra. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where that isn't a complimentary starter. For the quality of food we received, the prices were way too high. We left hungry and disappointed. Safe to say, we won't be returning. read more

This is a mixed review. Some aspects of our dinner at Mole Cantina with six people were excellent and some were not so good. For example, we sat outside in a pleasant setting under a large tent. The wrought iron table and chairs were sturdy, but the chairs weren't particularly comfortable. And an unpleasant garbage smell occasionally wafted through the air throughout our meal. On a positive note, happy hour runs until 7 pm daily (yay!) and the drink prices are terrific (more yay!). The margheritas were tasty and the white wine sangria was delicious. Sangria (red or white) are the only wine-based drinks included in happy hour. We ordered guacamole and chips to share. The freshly prepared guac was terrific, but the accompanying salsa was thin and bland. Disappointing. Our entrees also ranged from great to not-so-good. In order from best to worst: -Ribs with chimichurri sauce. Featured on the Specials menu, the fall-off-the-bone tender ribs were finger licking good, and the chimichurri sauce was quite tasty. -Chicken fajitas. Nice portion of grilled chicken and a good assortment of peppers, onions, and other accompaniments. -Mexico City style quesadillas. Two blue corn tortillas with cheese and shredded beef. Tasty. Comes with a small side salad and a nice sauce. -Burrito enchilado with shredded chicken and rice. Covered with enchilada sauce and cheese. Does not come with any sides. The sauce was ok but not the best tasting sauce around. Portion size is good. -Shredded chicken enchilada with red sauce. Comes with a side of rice and refried beans. Portion size was decent. Enchilada sauce wasn't particularly good (as noted above with the burrito) -Chicken quesadilla. Not very satisfying as the accompanying pico de gallo was mostly made of onions and was a small portion. The quesadilla didn't have much shredded chicken in it and was not particularly flavorful. We went to Mole to hear the Mariachi band as well as to have dinner. The band played inside for a while and then took a break. We asked when they would play outside and were told they'd be outside shortly. After two hours, the band hadn't come outside and we were finished with our meals, so we left. Another disappointment. Would we come back to Mole? Perhaps, but not right away. Now that we know where to sit to hear the music (inside!) and know which menu items are good, we will be more selective in our selection. read more

We got there for happy hour, strawberry margarita, table side guac was fire, and then the sizzling fajitas were so good. We went to Mole Cantina Mexicana for a late lunch during the week. The restaurant was not busy at all. We chose to sit inside, although the outdoor patio looked nice. The restaurant was decorated cute for Fall. The guacamole was made fresh on a cart, but was not made at table side. The chips and guacamole were good. The queso fundido was good, but I personally prefer "regular" queso. The lunch size portion of the veggie quesadilla was large and there was plenty left to take home. Mole has the absolute best staff and margaritas! We love to come for happy hour in particular when the drinks are only $7-8 each. If you are at the bar, they have a small plate HH food menu as well! We often also get the homemade guac (which they make at your table) and the queso to share. While a little on the pricey side, you can share amongst the table. Both are delicious and our favorites from the menu. If you come closer to dinner time, there is a mariachi band that comes to play. It is very interactive, fun, and beautiful music! There is a cute bar and tons of tables inside and outside, and they are very accommodating if you have a large party. I love how the staff decorates the entire place for each holiday, they really go all out. I can't say enough great things about their bar and wait staff. Food was awful. The pico they gave looked like it had been sitting uncovered for days. Had absolutely 0 color. They charge you extra to put cheese in a burrito. The carne asada tasted rotten and sour and genuinely made me and my girlfriend sick. What they charge doesn't reflect the menu. I had to have the sever fix it and call the manager. Their refried beans tasted wet and so did the rice. The chicken was a weird combination of dry and wet. The health department needs to come in here and check their kitchen. At Mole Cantina Mexicana, I ordered birria tacos and margaritas. While the tacos didn't have cheese and had high-fat content, they were still enjoyable. However, the peach margarita was disappointing (made with bottom-shelf tequila) it left me with a headache after just one. I recommend asking for a particular tequila for your margaritas. Ordered the Carna Asada Soft tacos(2) w/Black beans, guac & cheese (the last 2 are extra $)... the flavor was wonderful and PLENTY of food. Warning - be careful with the grilled whole jalapeno! The beans and rice were flavorful and nothing was overwhelming or overcooked. Steak was perfectly done. Also ordered fish tacos - came with 2 sauces - both delicious and the tacos were excellent. Drinks included Malibu/soda - actually tasted Malibu... Margarita was good but I'm not a Margarita person.. I just found my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Mole has an extensive menu of fresh, creative and delicious food and reasonable prices. We ordered the table-side-prepared guacamole to start. It was a large portion suitable for sharing. The tortilla chips, which are house-made according to the menu, were a bit disappointing though. They were fairly salty and not particularly robust. Good thing we smothered them in the delicious guac. The accompanying salsa (actually more of a smooth sauce rather than a chunky salsa) had a good taste without being overpowering. Happy hour at Mole runs until 7 pm daily, which made us very happy as we enjoyed some nicely priced drinks. Ole! The food was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, which were well seasoned. I had the chicken burrito, which included both shredded chicken as well as pieces of grilled chicken. The side of pico de gallo was mostly made of onions and very little tomato, which was disappointing. I opted out of the optional cheese. (Isn't cheese normally included in burritos?) The "side salad" was simply shredded lettuce, sour cream and a couple of radish slices. Meh. A person in our group thoroughly enjoyed his carnitas (shredded pork) burrito. And my husband devoured his generous portion of chicken chimichanga, which came with a spicy salsa verde on the side. The fajita special of the day was made with an upgraded grilled steak rather than the usual hanger steak. It included a very generous portion of steak along with the usual fajita fixins': onions, peppers, beans, rice, pico, etc. Delicious! The Mexican ribs were fabulously flavored, with the bones being individually cut and stacked up in a mouth-watering pile. Amazing taste! In addition to the regular taco entrees that include 2 tacos, Mole also features "specialty" tacos. One person had the tacos de arrachero, made with three grilled hanger steak tacos with onions and sides of guacamole, beans, and a spicy chipotle salsa. So much food! So good! While the food was excellent, the service was a bit slow. We didn't get refills of our water and didn't see the server for long stretches of time. Once we ordered, the food did arrive in a reasonable amount of time. Yay! Carlos, the manager, provided us with 3 complimentary desserts: chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling, tres leches cake, and flan. The portion sizes were quite large... perfect for sharing. The desserts had been refrigerated and would have been even better (especially the chocolate cake) if they had been served at room temperature. They were still good though. Tonight was not a good experience. We sat in a booth that had holes in the cushion. We were seated and no one came over for water and a greeting. The waitress that finally game over was wearing an overwhelming perfume. $5.00 for chips and Salsa that tasted like cold tomato sauce. So, only tried this place because Flanigans was packed, but we were so glad it was otherwise we wouldn't have seen this place. First our server was super friendly, had suggestions and was very attentive. We were there for happy hour so bonus! Flavored margaritas were only $7, we had the hibiscus and passion fruit margaritas and they were delicious. Then we see a salsa sampler with 5, yes 5, different salsas so of course we had to try it. Loved 4, the 5th was very spicy (which they warned us). It was tasty enough but too spicy for me. Hubby got a burrito and I got the 2 tacos: carne asada and carnitas, which were yummy. Ok... we went here for the first time two weeks ago on a Friday night. It was AMAZING. We could not wait to go back tonight. Well, tonight's dinner... not so good. To be nice about it... Issues.... no "orange brandy" for the Cadillac margaritas, but told "it's happy hour anyway so the house margaritas are 2 for 1" then it took15 minutes to get first house margarita, another 20 minutes for a second round. Round during happy hour, tasted like tequila flavored kool-aid. After happy hour, tasted like an actual margarita. Queso fundido never came and when we asked, it came without chorizo 20 minutes later. We complained and another 10 minutes after that, not a new fundido, but a bucked of chorizo was delivered. Which we were expected to somehow add to our now cold cheese dip. At that point I asked to see a manager and the guys said to me, "do you want it remade?" We did, and that came out yet again another 15 minutes later. We had asked for waters, they never came until 2nd request.... Chips after 2 asks. Seemed to be a pattern here. My entire of shredded beef floutas... when they finally arrived, incredibly dry. So I asked if I could have some mole sauce and was told "sure". It never came until we were finished with the dinner. BUT BRIGHT point (really trying to find something positive here), it was the best mole sauce I've had in some time. Really good. But I really did not want to do shots of mole sauce so.... I asked the server if the issue was her, the kitchen, the bar, or what, and she said a lot of words that made not a lot of sense and wandered off. Do not go there on Mondays I guess? This is my third time going here, and I had opted not to say anything, because if you don't have anything nice why say anything at all, right?? Well, I couldn't bite my tongue anymore. First time I went, I had a jicama salad. I wasn't impressed, but I figured Mexicans aren't known for their salads, unless it's a taco salad. Second time I went it was for a party and I only had drinks and some guacamole- the service for our large party was okay and so was the guacamole-just okay. Yesterday, topped both those instances. I am Not going to knock our server Desire down, as she's not in the kitchen. This place was packed, had mariachis singing (and they're great) and the decor is nice with ample outside seating that they've tried to make nice, but really you're sitting in a parking lot. With that said, my husband asked for outside seating. It's still winter in Florida so they have a little fire pit in the middle of the seating clusters, which we were not next to. I was cold, my husband asked if we could have a space heater (there were 8 of them standing in a corner towards the exit we could see) only to be told they couldn't put them out tonight. Strike one. We ordered drinks (two types of margaritas, house for me and and orchid or some like that for my husband) and chips with their 5 homemade sauces, Along with my sons food. We got our drinks and my margarita had all the salt T the bottom of the drink so it was super salty, even when I stirred it, to get the top to mix with the bottom, it just got saltier. It was so bad I had to return. Opted for wine instead, because I tried my husband's too, and his was salty too so decided to play it safe. Strike 2 We placed our food order too at the point she brought by our drinks. We are waiting for our chips and sons food, a table sits behind my son, they order their drinks and food I guess and we are still waiting for our chips, going on over 20 minutes. They table behind them already has their drinks and guacamole. We asked our waitress and she like, your chips are being made, and we are like why do they have their table side guacamole already made and they're eating, she's like that goes through different ticket. So, we give her the benefit of the doubt. We are now like 35 minutes into it, and we flag her and she's like it should be like 5 more minutes for your chips and salsas. We are like cancel that and give us the guacamole if it's going to be faster. And she like, okay. She walks away and some guy is bringing the chips with salsa and my sons meal. So. We got cold chips, which again were super salty, and the chips are tacos shells broken in pieces! Wtf??? Strike 3 My son had a little blister in his mouth and he started crying because he couldn't eat it because it hurt. I was like, how could it hurt?? I tried it and I understood, it was so salty it hurt his mouth. Strike 4 My husband had to give him his food when it eventually arrived, which was their Mexican version of steak. I had the flautas, which are like rolled and crispy tortillas filled with chicken. (Btw they only have 2 chicken dishes) so limited with my options because I don't eat red meat. The flautas are hidden over this massive salad that consists of lettuce and some white sauce with cheese that taste like nothing (or maybe it did and all the salt blew my palate out) and nothing else. The flautas I swear aré from the frozen section at your local grocery store. They even tasted like freezer. Strike 5 I was so disappointed with everything. From start to finish. Update- I just Checked DBPR's website and the resturant has now corrected and paid their food service license. A inspection was also completed. Overall, I wanted to love this restaurant so much but we just couldn't. We came here on a Friday night and they seated us right away. Unfortunately, our table was outside on the sidewalk and the chairs were horribly uncomfortable. Upon ordering dinner and drinks I went to use the bathroom. The bathroom was dirty. Unfortunately, after leaving the restaurant, I looked on the department of business and professional regulations website. The bathroom was dirty. If the bathroom is dirty, it always makes me question the kitchen. Upon reviewing DBPR's recent inspection history, I realized that this restaurant has had major health violations for things like not wearing gloves ect.... I also noticed that there food service license had been expired since for almost 3 months. That is a major no for me. read more

Outdoor atmosphere is on-point for a fun night out and our drinks were GOOD (margarita, Horny Mexican and I had a white sangria)! We stayed outside because we have 2 small dogs with us, so I can't report on the inside. The chairs are the most uncomfortable metal chairs I remember sitting on. Our waitress was nice, but not attentive at all after getting our drinks. We ordered a mixed grill meant for 2 that was more than enough for 3-4. Our waitress dropped it off and disappeared without giving us plates. She then visited two other tables, and then when I waved to her as she approached a 3rd table to take orders she just nodded at me. So 10-15 more minutes passed with our entree sitting on the table cooking off, before we received tiny appetizers plates and no serving utensils. We asked for water and salsa before that, but had to ask 2 more times and then asked the busboy who brought us water. We started with a table side guacamole that was outstanding. The salsa was Smokey.. only one of us cared for it. The mixed grill was not an ideal entree. It was piled up, which made it difficult to cut and share. The platter it was on should have been a lot larger, as it just became messier and messier to deal with. The pork was over cooked. The ground chorizo and chicken were very good. The steak had a good flavor to it but, even cut, was difficult to chew... The refried beans and rice were authentic and good. I do recommend this place for a fun night of drinks and appetizers, and for when you're not in a hurry. Heard a lot about this restaurant and wanted to try it. Brought the family out to enjoy some authentic Mexican and Mole didn't disappoint! From the fresh guacamole to the tasty main course options, everyone left satisfied. While we had a few hiccups along the way, it didn't take away from the overall food experience. Point to note...the Chimichanga is huge, and when it came to the table, yes my wife ordered the beast of a meal, everyone was a gasp at the sheer size of it! Needless to say she proudly devoured the entire meal and exclaimed "this place deserves a 4!" once we all started to discuss the overall ranking.
