Based on reviews, we ate at La Cabrona. The restaurant is super cute. Love how festive the restaurant is. The chips and salsas were good. However, 3 of 4 people were disappointed with their meals. First, the guacamole was tasteless. Everyone tried, but we left about half of it uneaten. I had a salad. The chicken was good, but the actual salad had little taste. The enchiladas were just okay, and the biggest disappointment was the mole. It was very light colored and the sauce was very thin. Also, the margarita was overloaded with ice and very weak. The steak tacos were phenomenally, the onions and cilantro fresh, and the coffee tastes like it came from a Mexican blend. The staff was uber friendly and so attentive. Our server Pedro was efficient and so sweet! We were unprepared with our young kids as we swung by after the rodeo (our fault). They don't have kids menus/crayons but Pedro went and got some out of his car for us and some paper. Saved the evening!! First let's start with the attempt to make a reservation. Called and they said they only take parties of 8 or larger. No biggy! We showed up and were seated right away. Ambience was nice. I understand this is a newer restaurant so there will be hiccups. Chips and salsa came a little late to the table, drink orders took longer than expected for the place being pretty empty. This was a Saturday evening as well. Food arrived in a decent time once the order was taken. I ordered the Chili Relleno, it's my go to when I dine at Mexican restaurants. When it got to the table it was disgustingly soggy, they gave be two different sides of bean instead of the rice and beans that I ordered and forgot the side of sour-cream. Our waitress went missing and we had to flag down another person to take the food back. I asked the other waiter if the food was supposed to be that way and he told me it wasn't. Two people came back to the table, one announced themselves as a manager, asking if they could replace my food. I ordered a cheese quesadilla, figured I couldn't go wrong with that and I ordered another drink. The waitress came up and took the drink order for two other guests at the table, and forgot to actually place the order. Waters and soda also were empty. Chips and salsa only refilled once asked and again, it took forever. When I received the bill they brought over an electronic device for payment. As the waitress stood over us we tried understanding the bill, which I find completely rude! The tip selections were awkward and she basically grabbed the device back and pushed 'none'. I found it odd and asked her what it was. She looked confused so I asked her for a printout. Here is the real kicker. They added a 20% tip for a LARGE PARTY, a party so big that I could not get a reservation and failed to tell us this charge would be added. Most of the time I give restaurants another chance, but after the price, poor service, gross food and automatic tip addition I will not be returning. Also adding, we have family that work in the food industry. I understand the importance of tipping. However, when a server does such a horrible job and the food was disgusting we should be given the option of the tip. And a party of 6 is not a large party! read more

We had a GREAT 1st experience here tonight!!! Made a reservation and they had everything ready to go when we arrived. We walked in to a festive ambiance for my birthday celebration. Our server, Pedro, was AWESOME and answered all our questions. He was punctual with our drinks and food. They offer brunch on Sundays (WITH A MARIACHI!!!) and we will definitely e back to check that out!!! The food was delicious! I got the Carne Asada and it was cooked perfectly and plenty of food. The others in our party got the steak tacos and brisket tacos and they loved them as well! It was my first time visiting La Cabrona. I am so happy we stumbled upon this location. We sat outside on the patio near the water fountain. The cocktails, made with local tequila, were amazing.
