Chimichanga... Not just fun to say. Fun to eat
    Joel D.

The spicy salsa is underwhelming but overall the food is good. Chimichanga looked amazing if you could eat with your eyes it would be 10 out of five. A little expensive but on par for the area. Parking is good. The inside is slightly dark and not inviting but staff was really friendly. 4.5 stars.

The deep fried burrito was awesome. Rest of the family was very happy with the vegan menu options. The bartender was very attentive. This was our third time there and hasn't disappointed. Really good place

Wife and I just weren't fans. The atmosphere is a little strange....kinda small but a little fancy. Just wasn't what we are used to. You have to pay $5 for chips and salsa and a fountain soda is another $5. The taco trio with carnitas and chicken was a disappointment. Meat was dry. Not worth $20. Super burrito with carne asada was pretty good. Came on a plate by itself with a knife and fork.....The bill for those 2 plates, chips and salsa + 1 soda was $50. We have plenty of other places we go to often and pay between $25-$30. Pretty safe to say this was a one and done visit for us.

Having lived in Yuma AZ for 10 years, this IS the closest to authentic Mexican food I've found in this area. Staff is super friendly and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. It mimics similar establishments in Mexico with its decor. You won't be wasting your time taking your appetite here.

Excellent service & my vegetarian burrito was humongous ( had to bring half home). They are now open for lunch. Happy hour specials, you can't go wrong! In same plaza as Pete's & Julian's.

    Cool menus!

Food was excellent! Cocktails even better! If we lived closer we'd be regulars. Someday we will make it there on Cinco de Mayo!

We were meeting a friend and they had gotten a table for us before we arrived, but it wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables available. We're glad we had a chance to try Cantina Pedregal before it changes into Nixtaco- although now having been to both you're going to have delicious food either way. The restaurant is beautiful and whoever did the interior design was so thoughtful with the furniture, colors and ambiance. It's very warm, welcoming and calming inside. A great date spot or place for a meeting. The lunch menu has a good variety of options, and is broken down into smaller bites/appetizers, salads, main plates, and then sides. It's a nice spot to share dishes so you can try more items and share the sides. We ended up getting the chips and salsa ($7) with an extra salsa ($4), Grilled Black Half Chicken ($23), and Fideo Seco ($14). Our friend got the Carne Asada Tacos ($24), Refried Beans ($12), and Red Rice ($10). The sides were shareable and needed, since the entrees came on their own. Our friend added some of the beans, rice and Fideo Seco on their tacos and our chicken did come with some tortillas to make our own tacos or eat on it's own. Everything was high quality and flavorful. The Fideo Seco was surprisingly my favorite item. It is vermicelli pasta with sofrito, chorizo and egg yolk and was very tasty. The chicken was good, but hard to eat without using your hands to get all the meat off the bones- the messy hands didn't seem to fit with the restaurant vibe but we loved the flavor and how tender the chicken was. The salsa was good and the chips were fresh, but it seemed like a lot to charge $4 for the ramekins of salsas. I would pass on chips and salsa next time. Overall it was a great vibe, high quality food and good service. Definitely more of a treat meal or great spot to impress a date or business client. For a regular chill meal it felt a bit expensive, but I think they're going for more upscale.

You walk in and the doors close individually but u do share the space and area to wash your hands with anyone that walks in . Not bad never really seen this before . Our waiter was amazing his name was Doug he explained the menu to us . It could be a lot but he helped us . Doug was very helpful and attentive. We ordered drinks my favorite one was called Sol Dorado . I wish they had more Gin drinks I had the only Gin drink called Brissa Del Mar but ,I was not a fan . For food we ordered the Caesar salad , sweet potato which was amazing. For our main dish we ordered the cazuela (Asado De Puerco ) which is pork stew it came with handmade corn tortillas . We made some delicious tacos out of it . I had to get dessert they all sounded so good! We got the Smoked Pumpkin Tres Leches delicious. Overall, it was a different experience the food is a bit different and I'm Mexican BTW but it's from a part in Mexico called Monterey every part in Mexico has their own way of cooking . The menu its self is different you order to share . It's a little on the pricier side but the portions were a good size for sharing . I feel like for the main entree there is not that many options on there wish to see more . Overall we had a great time . Great food and ambiance.

Start with the carnitas plate and you'll understand why. You're served a generous mountain of perfectly crisp-edged, juicy meat that hits every note of texture and flavor. The tacos across the board are excellent, especially the al pastor, carnitas, and lengua--each one delivers. Last time we were there I thought I was able to get just plain tortillas from the tortillas lady spot. But she looked confused then I asked for a few flour tortillas. She asked what meat I wanted to make street tacos. That's fine the pork tasted very good. But I like plain tortillas with the eggs and other dishes. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I guess next time we will ask the server. We started with the omelets this time. Very good and well made. We tried many things, hard to take pictures. The portions have been cut in 1/2 for a lot of menu items here over the last 5 years namely the chimichangas but seems like everything else too. The chimichangas used to be twice the size they are now and were loaded with cheese. Now they have no cheese and 1/2 the filling so there mostly flour tortilla now. Very disappointing and the plates they use now are smaller, they used to serve the food on these huge platters. Anyway went there last night (1st time in 3 years) and this is the plate I got. The 2 chimichangas are now the same size as the tamale on the other side of the plate. The service was terrible too. We did not get our food until almost an hour and by the time the food showed up we were full from the chips and bean dip and salsa wich by the way we had to wave them down several times as we seemed invisible to refill the chips and our drinks. We wont be going back again for probably another 3 years. I highly recommend Felipe's in Citrus heights on Auburn blvd. Way better value and the food quality is on par with el tapatio but with five star service!
